  1. was drafting Rogers over Bailey more of a signability situation? I don't recall paying all that much attention to the draft that year, to be honest. I can understand that if Bailey was the consensus #1 HS pitching prospect that he may have been out of our price range at the time, making Rogers a bit more of a "safe" pick for us.
  2. Thanks alot. Now that's stuck in my head. Oh, well.
  3. I can live with that lineup. Let's hope we can get some runs off Hudson. He's looked very sharp this season, overall. His sinker is pretty nasty and his fastball seems to be resurrected from his Oakland days. Hopefully, he'll lay a few fat ones up there. Go Brewers!
  4. I'll be the first to admit that I probably don't search on google or anything as much as I should. However, sometimes I or others ask questions that we're looking for actual experience/user reviews of things. Somebody mentioned tripadvisor.com. Well, that's fine and dandy and does have alot of information. But sometimes it's also nice to see some other opinions from people that you genuinely trust (aka Brewerfan.net members) that have actually been to those places and can give their own words of wisdom. I'll try to google things more often, I guess. Whenever I do, though, it seems somebody always shoots down my response that I found on google. Maybe I'm imagining things.
  5. again, glad that I'm at work or I'd get nothing done. Looking forward to a few woot-offs over the summer when I can actually stay up and participate.
  6. I'll be watching from school again. Only 2 weeks left until summer vacation and unlimited Brewering.
  7. I haven't seen them in such a long time, but I enjoyed: The Monster Squad (1987) Midnight Madness (1980-ish) Dumb and Dumberer (I thought it was brilliantly funny at times) Spy Hard UHF The Golden Child Blast from the Past Looney Toons: Back in Action The Man in the Iron Mask Noises Off The Man with One Red Shoe any Buster Keaton movie, but especially "The Cameraman"
  8. before reading anybody else's, I'll post mine. Then I'll go back and re-read (don't want anybody else's opinions to sway my answer) "The 'Burbs", starring Tom Hanks is a poor movie but for some reason I find it very entertaining. I, too, always seem to watch that when it is on (not that often, but still). I would probably buy it on DVD if I saw it at the store (again, not that often). It's just one of those corny movies that makes me smile.
  9. Just to finish, our trip was a huge success (as always). It was a long day but worth every penny to see smiles on those kids' faces. I did spot a fan in the concourse wearing a Brewers home retro jersey and quickly commented that it was "a great jersey". If it was any of you guys (for whatever reason), sorry for not stopping to chat--I was on my final rounds around the concourse, checking for any stragling students that hadn't made it back to our seats yet.
  10. I guess I'll vent that even if we had gone .500 on this stretch (NYM to SD) or even a game under .500, we would likely have a double digit lead in the division instead of just five.
  11. sigh boy Bush and Capuano, two guys that we were counting on to be semi-stud-like this year just have not done the job as of late. Getting depressing.
  12. yeah, those pitches sure looked like strikes to me. Teams sure are having a field day with Miller behind the plate. Not looking all that great thus far.
  13. I like Braun in the #2 spot this evening. Maybe get those first AB jitters out of the way so he can relax. Of course, that could backfire if he hits into a DP and then he presses in the field in the bottom of the first. Anyways, good to see him up. Go Brewers! Only an hour to go!
  14. So, tomorrow is my annual Music Class Reward Field Trip to Phoenix. I'm taking about 150 students, parents, and volunteers on a 4-hour bus ride to PHX to go to the Arizona Science Museum and then an evening ballgame. I spent a good chunk of change to give my students (the one's that deserve it, that is) probably their only chance to experience something like this (our school is a low-income school). So our seats are in the upper deck. I bought fairly cheap $15 tickets for everybody and they have been more than adequate in the years past. But today I got a phone call from my ticket rep and the boss chose our group to be upgraded down to the lower deck by the right field bullpen. These tickets are twice the value of our upper deck seats. I'm so pleased, surprised, and misty that they would do that for us. I'm going to try to keep it a secret from everybody until we get to the ballpark. I know there's not much for anyone else to say and no real question for anybody, but I thought I needed to share this with somebody. I'm too giddy to keep it to myself.
  15. wonder why I'm not named in the lawsuit? I mean, I sent the guy down to the minors in my PITCH League baseball league back in March and almost traded him in April. I must have been a cause of his son's drinking problem.
  16. I don't think it was Sawyer in the casket, as Kate said she "had to get back; he'll be wondering where I am" to Jack. I would assume that is Sawyer that she's with. But maybe not. Also, since that was the future, I wonder how far into the future it was. Wouldn't Kate have been arrested once she was "found" again? Eh, it was a good episode. Still trying to figure out the whole Locke part of the show and how Walt said there's "work to be done". Obviously it wasn't Walt but the vision of someone Locke wanted to see, like Mr. Echo seeing his brother as a vision before he bit it via the smoke monster. So, I'm guessing Locke, who saw the smoke monster in season one and was humbled by it's beauty (if I remember right) and stared it down and didn't hide, is now working in tandem with it to save the island. Or something. It's late. I don't like spoilers so I'll stop there. Should be interesting to read other's theories.
  17. this "drum", is it like those air-power vacu-suck machines like they use for powerball and other lotteries drawn on tv?
  18. I wouldn't put Braun in the #8 spot in the order. Wouldn't he just be semi- pitched around to face the pitcher? Which would maybe cause him to press and swing and miss at bad pitches. Lousy game so far. But there's still time, I guess.
  19. seems like Cappy has the tired arm a bit early this year. Bummer. I agree and wouldn't be surprised if Braun rides the pine to "get acclimated to MLB life" for about a week, with a handful of PH appearances. Then he'll be sent down. Okay, maybe not, but it wouldn't surprise me. That's semi what they did with Prince, wasn't it?
  20. I just finished watching. I'll post later also. Likely tomorrow.
  21. sorry, again, I haven't watched this in years so I didn't know how it works anymore. Can you elaborate at all on these codes and how it works? A link that tells about it perhaps?
  22. I don't believe that team officials are in the room with the pingpong ball machine. But I know that they use an independent judging firm or whatever to monitor the draft lottery. If they DID let a team official be in the room, they'd have to sequester them inside that room until the teams were revealed on television. As for televising the actual process (as someone posted in the other thread) that would be quite dull because you'd have to sit through umpteen re-draws as a team's pingpong ball pops up for the umpteenth time after they've already been slotted. Although, now that I think of it, unless they changed it they only take the first 3 pingpong balls and then just slot the other teams by rank the rest of the way. It's been so long since I watched this (or cared) that I don't remember the logistics but that's how they did it last time I watched.
  23. Looking forward to this one as much as any game this season. Good pitching matchup and it's the rubber game of the series between two first place teams. Could be a battle. I've always liked Brad Penny. I'm glad to see that he's sort of living up to his hype.
  24. that's actually not all that bad of an idea. How's MacDougal's elbow/shoulder/arm/whatever has been hurt in the past? I know nothink about his current health.
  25. depending on the severity of the blister (assuming that's what it is) it could be only 1 start. But he's got to let the thing heal completely. If he tries to pitch too soon, the new skin is just going to get irritated and re-blister and start the cycle all over again. A good week without touching the baseball would do the trick and we, technically, have the "luxury" of doing so, what with Carlos V or even Gallardo or Dessens,
