  1. Not a hater, just acknowledging that the Dodgers have a competitive advantage over the Brewers in that they can absorb salaries that Milwaukee can’t. It gives you a ton of flexibility.
  2. Big moment for Rogers. Tie game in the eighth and he has to shake off that last debacle.
  3. Unfortunate that this happened. I wasn’t a regular listener but, when it comes to sports talk, local over national all day, every day. It’s tough and probably a shock for those guys. In this day and age, though, they will surely have other options. Really, these days radio is to podcasts as regular mail is to email. Start a podcast platform with “channels” and sell advertising. And kick Audacy’s behind.
  4. The Dodgers are better than an all star team. They have chemistry.
  5. We should try to acquire 3-4 more minor league outfielders. That’s what we really need more of.
  6. I love the pitching staff, especially if CC can tweak his reliever usage a tad. Be less pedantic and look at the situation. Maybe its Rogers in the 7th and Bush in the 8th based on who is coming up. But, you have to love the pitching. It's sad to have this type of staff, where you have some front line starters for the playoffs, and still not be optimistic about this year's Brewers. The offense can show average stats in runs and so on, but it's a dysfunctional mis-match of talent. Which means I will be wrong and we will go all the way. With some rising prospects for the lineup potentially coming up in the next 2-3 years, with some key starters expiring, and a massive albatross of a contract weighing finances down, it will take extraordinary creativity and planning in the off-season to sort through this. I love Stearns and I believe he is a smart guy who can be a big thinker. I have not been thrilled with recent events or even the lineup he drew up this season, but I have hopes that he will get all these moving pieces sorted out.
  7. Great write up, Jenkins. I like some of our pitching prospects but I’d love to see us draft pitching hard the next couple of years. This past year I wanted infielders with good hit tools and we came out with Brown, Moore, O’Rea, and Metzinger plus Wood at catcher. I think we have an underrated system and we will look back at our system as a whole in ten years and say that this group produced a nice collection of legit talent. Having said that, I like our position player depth better than pitching. I am very high on Gasser and Mis and cautiously optimistic about Jarvis, Cornielle and Castaneda. Cam Robinson seems like the real deal for the pen. Let’s see if he goes to the 40 man. But I’d like to see an emphasis on bringing pitchers in to balance things out.
  8. 1. Am I too late? 2 when do we average them to get a sure aggregate? 9. I know some posters will point to good stats for the Brewers' offense or that hitting is down, league-wide. Fair enough. No question, baseball is the sport where stats are by far the most interesting. I am a math guy and was always drawn to stats in baseball. If I had more time, I would pore through all the stats people cite. Having said that, I learned baseball in the 1970s and 1980s and I don't fully agree with the notion that our offense is doing well. Our number 2 hitter is hitting .220 and plays like a 3rd baseman who is an all or nothing guy. We don't have a number 3 hitter but lately its a .230 hitter. It's not that I don't like those guys but you want better production out of those spots in the order. I haven't seen Yelly's exact numbers since he went to leadoff but I suspect he is over .280 with a very solid OBP. We have some other guys who are solid like Renfroe. That is a long way of saying, our offensive lineup has some good pieces but collectively is broken. But, interestingly, the Brewers have held onto their top hitting prospects. That tells me that we are looking at the addition of 4-5 new hitters over, say, the next three seasons. Frelick and Turang (and maybe Ruiz) in 2023, and Chourio may be ready to play in the majors as a 20 year old in 2024 if he stays healthy and on his current course. Don't sleep on Tyler Black either in due course. Garrett Mitchell, Joey Wiemer, et al., we have some other guys who might make some noise. And, personally, next year I would install Hiura as our DH and let it rip. Lot of debate about him, but he has as electric of a bat as we presently have on the roster. We have so much inconsistency with the lineup. When it is "one of those days" you get a team just sleepwalking through outs. Hiura is a guy who can light a spark. We need more of that IMO.
  10. I hope Keston's sojourn was to level off the swing and get more bat to ball. He swings and misses way too much on strikes. But watch carefully, he misses on an uppercut. Keith Law, who is plugged in, says that this was by design from the organization. He said it as fact and I believe he has a source on that. Knock it off with that and let's get more average and doubles. I am hoping this is in the plan. His strikeout rate is severely hampering his upside.
  11. Part of me loves the Padres sticking it to the Dodgers by acquiring Hader, Soto and Bell. If I am a Dodger fan, I don't like this turn of events. In their lineup alone, Tatis, Machado, Soto....that's high end talent.
  12. My post was neutral and apolitical. It’s saying it’s part of business. Which is true. I totally accepted that one view is redemption. .
  13. That’s fine. You don’t give a crap. That’s your right. Other people care. It’s part of who he is and you’re in no position to dictate to other people how they should feel.
  14. With all due respect to the folks that only want to talk about his baseball performance, you cannot separate a person from the player. The Brewers are a business and, like all businesses, they are subject to their consumers holding them to certain standards. Baseball players are not robots wearing your favorite laundry. There are a fair number of fans who pay very close attention to the images of the guys who they root for. It is 100% part of the discussion of the acquisition. Now if you are in the camp that this is a redemption story, fair enough, but the topic is completely fair. Ignoring it as part of the story is putting your head in the sand. As for us not knowing any of the players, that may be true but we also know of criminal behavior because it’s public record. If a player does not have a criminal record, there is no reason for a fan to lump him in with someone who does by dismissing it as “we don’t know any of them.” If someone is found to have atrocious behavior that we find out about, that’s a different story, Players and teams need to understand who pays the bills, and it’s the consumers, i.e., the fans, Fans pay attention to who is on the team and it’s not just about how hard you pitch. The consumer needs to be satisfied and all businesses need happy customers. The customer can hold a business’ feet to the fire, It is how the market works.
  15. I don’t like this trade. A) you get a bad guy, and B) you gave up too good of a prospect in terms of potential ceiling Yes, Kelly has control issues but that’s what the minors are for. I am surprised that Stearns or Attanasio would ok this one. In any event, winning is not at all costs. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2017/11/30/flashback-after-almost-killing-someone-spending-3-years-in-prison-rangers-matt-bush-is-trying-to-reassemble-his-life/?outputType=amp
  16. Honestly, if Small doesn't improve his control, Gasser could end up being the better prospect. We have sneaky good position player prospects but could use some more quality pitching prospects. I like Antone Kelly and Misiorowski. Justin Jarvis is underrated. But Gasser is a very nice add to our list of pitching prospects.
  17. I think what's throwing people off is that Ruiz has been resurgent this year, and that they got a MLB closer back. Gasser is a good prospect and is touted as having back end of the rotation potential. Ruiz seems to have restored some of his prospect value back if you read about the work he has done at AA in terms of not chasing pitches.
  18. MlB trade rumors saying the Brewers are in the mix for Gallo, citing him as a possibility to platoon with Taylor in center. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/07/brewers-padres-rays-interested-in-joey-gallo.html The nice thing here is you would not need to give back anything of consequence.
  19. There’s no way I’d trade Turang for a rental. Not a chance. And I don’t think Stearns is stupid enough to do so either. It’s not in his history. Turang is an ascending player who is improving and has more room to get better. The Brewers may be more apt to deal a resurgent Tristen Lutz or Joe Gray. Maybe a SS like Zamora or even Garcia although I wouldn’t be inclined to move the latter. The Brewers system doesn’t have super depth but their top ten list includes attractive prospects. You aren’t cavalierly dealing them for rentals or patchwork.

  21. Benitendi to Yankees for 3 lower level pitchers, the highest of whom is ranked 13 in their system.
  22. 100%. Probably the most underrated Brewers prospect. He’s probably top 15 but rarely ranked up there.

  24. Sammon is mixed up. Quero is in no way a third tier prospect. He’s highly regarded. He must have goofed him up with Jose Sibrian.
