  1. Thanks Mass. It's infuriating. You don't need to make them wealthy, but you can pay them an acceptable wage, plus pay for their housing. Let a man have a one bedroom apartment, or two share a two bedroom. The MLBPA could also push for this. Other than the bonus babies, most of them probably came up this way. If the minor league teams are going to claim their cash flow doesn't allow more (and I have no idea on that), they shouldn't be in it alone. There is a nexus to the MLB teams. The major league franchise has rights over the players, which is the smoking gun against their argument that the local teams are in it alone. With the money in MLB, they can subsidize the minors with the proverbial change in their cushions. Does the average MLB fan, who sinks his or her hard earned money into MLB streaming, merchandise, ticket prices, concessions, parking etc., want the future players to be treated like this? That's the fan's money that provides the revenue. Ownership and the MLBPA mustn't forget where the cash comes from, and with humility fix this problem.
  2. I think it's pretty obvious the Brewers legitimately like him. Actions speak loudly. Also, look at the quotes by Counsell. He's high on him. As for his track to Milwaukee, I expect him to marinate at AAA for awhile. Beyond that, he could potentially come up initially in a utility role to get acclimated to at bats in the big show. Beyond that, Wong is on a 2/3 year deal that times up well for Turang to take over 2b. Or, possibly, Adames goes to third and Turang goes to SS. There are scenarios and these things always work out. If someone produces (in any job), there will be opportunities provided.
  3. Notice Atlanta and Phoenix trying to sign bigs after the Bucks pounded them both inside.
  4. I am hardly interested in NBA cap/signing rules but I think we have a trade exception. Maybe we hang onto that and give us room to trade for a defensive stopper mid-season. DDV is a question mark with his injury and we need a backup point guard. So, I hope we sign a guard who can score on the wing and a point guard who can defend and run the offense.
  5. Who are you guys thinking for that MLE? Victor Oladipo? Malik Monk? Lou Williams?
  6. Somewhat of an inauspicious start by our guy, Curtiss!
  7. Nah, he’s similar to BillyMcKinney, and since he was DFA’d he’s been with two other organizations already and likely will be out of LA when they activate Trea Turner and Scherzer. Vogelbach is arbitration eligible and like McKinney has yet to get himself established as an every day major league player. He’ll be available this winter as a free agent even if he is DFA’d. I am not a fan either. I am more of a hit tool guy. These guys that get roasted by the shift are not my cup of tea. I was just speculating that I think they might try to keep him as a bench bat. The Billy McKinney detour was interesting though.
  8. Free agent after this season. 2 months. He's a free agent at the end of the year. Stearns is surely banking on Norris pitching better down the stretch but it seems like we could have gotten him cheaper than this. I assume we are picking up the rest of his contract ($2M+) so not cheap but reasonable. Thanks! Time flies. Seems like yesterday that he was first coming up as a starter.
  9. I'd love to be wrong but this draft feels like it got away from us. First time I have felt this way in a few years though.
  10. Admit I loved Braddock as a back end reliever. To be fair, he showed promise. I never understood what happened with him. Fell off a cliff.
  11. How many years of control do we have on Norris?
  12. I think they find a way to keep Vogelbach as a bench bat. The math is tough, though.
  13. Thanks for that. I knew he profiles well, but I was curious for a scouting report on him. Sounds good. The clue is Henry was sent out. He has value. I think Henry will be a legit MLB catcher, at least as a backup.
  14. My theory has been to stay at AAA and give him goals he needs to satisfy that will predict MLB success. The easy analysis is he sucks. I don’t think that’s remotely true even if it’s not popular here. He has talent. He’s a mess right now. He can get better.
  15. Can you please keep some receipts for guys who agree with you too?
  16. Hopefully we can rack up some W’s against the Cubs. Now watch us struggle against them lol.
  17. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with Norris in high leverage situations, but he can have his place and even be a weapon. If the offense is coming up with a couple of lefty bats of consequence due up, he can be a good option to come in. Either he handles the lefty bats or you force their hand to pull at least one of them out of the game, and there’s a value to that. For the prospect nerds like me, Norris was once considered a solid prospect. Honestly, he’s the type of guy I’d have expected us to get.
  18. He really is. Great guy to root for. That swing is nasty. Athletic. Glad we stayed the course with him through some rocky minor league seasons where he fell from grace in the rankings.
  19. Good. We need picks. For the DECADE. Shows 31 is perceived to have value. Hopefully those two future seconds end up decently high.
  20. I wonder if we were involved in these discussions? My speculation would be yes, and our management stayed within their discipline to not over-pay. Without knowing what names were discussed, it's hard to assess it. But generally, I like Stearns' and Arnold's commitment to stay within their value parameters, i.e., not overpaying. I would have liked Gallo, but you don't just throw a Hedbert Perez overboard because you get hyped up to make a deal. I compliment them on their discipline.
  21. I like the acquisition of Escobar because we didn't need to touch some of our upper echelon prospects. Fills a need, a corner infielder with pop. Escobar, Tellez, and Adames. How is that for in-season acquisitions in the infield? I like Urias but his throwing has been an adventure. He's a young player with quite a bit of development left, hopefully. He will still get at bats. I have to admit I have never focused on Ciprion beyond seeing his name when we signed him, but history says we can trust our brass on what they thought they were giving up, i.e., a smaller, slender infielder.
  22. I still haven't come down from the high yet....have to pinch myself. When they had Brandon jennings and Monta Ellis under contract, this franchise truly looked hopeless. Of all my favorite teams, the Bucks were easily the biggest upset to actually win a title. It defies any kind of rational belief I had back then. Yet, here we are!
  23. Stearns and Arnold are as creative as it gets. They may do something totally unexpected....that works.
  24. He's a backup at AAA. Never played an inning of 1B before a couple days ago, but OK. You do you. This is why I've stopped participating in these things. Based on all of the prior results, one outlier creates conversation but ultimately does not move the needle much at all. The aggregate rankings come out looking very rational and normally as insightful as anything the various media services put out. Your input and contribution would certainly be welcomed.
  25. He has a very good hit tool. He has always lacked pop, but as Eye Black aptly points out, he’s considerably young for AA and has room to get stronger and drive the ball into gaps more. He also bats left handed and plays a premium position. He has more than plus speed. He carries himself with confidence that instills belief in him. You put that all together and he’s an attractive prospect. He’s going to hit, get on base, run, play middle infield, bring a lefthanded bat. Those are a lot of positive factors that outweigh any concern over his slugging. Not many prospects have that long of a list of attributes. I think you’re talking about a guy who will play every day in the middle infield, get on base, and run. With all the player control he carries, he fits the profile of a guy Stearns will want to keep unless he gets controllable talent back. If he’s dealt for somebody with less than two years of control (i.e., a rental or a semi-rental), it would be for an impact player. I couldn’t disagree more that he lacks value and I am confident Stearns and Arnold wouldn’t disagree with anything I just said. IMO.
