  1. He hasn't been offered the QO the first time. He didn't qualify last season due to being traded to the Cubs mid-season.
  2. They have added more than enough firepower to make up 15 games. The middle of their order is the best in the division and on paper their rotation is the equal of Cardinals for the best They're clearly the favorite. They don't have 15 games to make up. They start 0-0 like everybody else. How is their rotation up for the best in the Central? That's a lot of confidence in Miley, Gray, and Bauer. I don't even know who there 5th is do you? I do think Castillo can maintain his level but, otherwise it's filled with a bunch of guys that are every bit 4.5 ERA prone as they are to be 3.7ERA prone or better.
  3. No problem. 1 other item of note from the current CBA: teams/ players are unable to make pre-arranged agreements to withhold placing of a QO or agreeing to decline the QO (unlike the previous arbitration-offering system). IIRC penalties include agent suspension, loss of draft pick & signing pool money as well as a player punishment (unsure of it).. Is it prearranged though? I just came up with the thought that for Cincy they could have structured a deal offer to fit this plan ahead. It didn't have to be agreed on by Castellanos or even if Castellanos is told this idea/plan. It's something to put in their backpocket. maybe Castellanos had a bigger ask to this 4/64 and that GM wasn't going there and here's where the idea comes up. Write up the offer and Castellanos' side accepted. The ability to stomach the contract. He's all bat and no fielding. Aging where his fielding is only going to get worse. Castellanos made the most sense for an AL team. He basically got 10games a season with Detroit to do so. Games to rest his body not fielding. Cincy won't have that but the interleague games or which may not be the time Castellanos needs the DH for his body.
  4. I'm glad I read the date on the posts. I was ready to question this all.
  5. Glad this saga is over. To the doesnt fit on roster makeup, theres still plenty of time to make a trade for this move to fit. I seen someone mention open to trade Senzel. But how about trade Suarez for example to Dodgers for Seager and May? Now Moose plays 3rd Seager at SS and Sensel at 2b. I dont think the opt outs are really going to be used. Castellanos would have to put a full season of the numbers he had for his Cubs stints. He pretty much at a high for a FA having his best season in 2018 and best half a season to end 2019. I think that part of the deal is in Cin favor so they could QO him in the instance he opted out. The rotation has upside to be scared but downside to be a group of meh. Gray had some surgery on his elbow(not TJ) he's no guarantee for a full season. Bauer has far more seasons above 4.5ERA than he does below 4ERA. He gives up HRs at a higher rate except his 1 season below 4ERA. Nl Central isn't a place to reduce that higher level. This looks like a case to be had to be the MN Twins of 2018/2019. Everything goes right and beyond they can be a 95win team. But when it doesn't they're below .500
  6. Im pretty much speechless. Terrible for Basketball fans. Terrible included his daughter. The parent and teammate. The family. That team. The pilot. Way too soon for their passing. Just shocked.
  7. I'd say having watched a few of the DC comics animation movies, Suicide Squad lacked an original storyline. You were just thrust in to what was happening and didnt know this power that be Woman who was in charge. Like how and why does she control characters who could kill her alone if left in a room for 5mins. It was poor timing to make the film. Smith and Robbie were in that other movie together and you often see pairs of Actors or Actresses together in two or three films. I feel that is set up contractually from the beginning but that it must have a timeline to fulfill or maybe they are released from that obligation. Sorta here's the big project people are going to love. And heres the second less quality film that because you two become power duo from first film together sells box office tickets on this film. Another example off top of my head would be George Clooney with Mark Wahlberg in We 3 Kings followed next year by the Perfect Storm(searched that) Fwiw the My name is Earl series. The. Actor Ethan Supley who was the 400lb cohort with Earl, is a buff 200-230lb lost his image guy now.
  8. Roderick in regards to Brown. A team selecting him would have placed him on the 26man. Brown's future value was as a SP. No team was about to insert him in to their Starting Rotation. That leaves a drop in to the bullpen where he has only 3 appearances not as a SP in last 2 seasons. Is a team going to hide him in their bullpen delaying a season of him as Starter. The answer was no. 2nd time through AAA he can grow and earn a promotion [if Needed] in to the rotation. Its an option for the rotation. He's not the opening day #5 or higher starter. Prospects suck from time to time for a year and learn from it get it together and are ML starters a following year. Id have lost a big wager on Grisham making it to Milwaukee's team last season. I didnt think he'd make it as a Brewer and nearly ever.
  9. I'm good with Brett Anderson. What he's proven is to be a total of 6.4BWAR the 3 seasons he has made it to 30starts in a season. 2009, 2015, 2019. Woodruff is clearly proven. Lauer is clearly proven that he can be a SP. Houser/Peralta either or, one can fill starts the other in Bullpen. Lindblom is the complete unknown. What is known is he'll be able to take the ball every 5 days and give you 90-105pitches and should be able to a full season. What the results will be tbd. What you have though is 4 SPs and a platoon sorta to be your 5th that ought to give you a full season's worth of 175IP if pitching well enough to give you 30-33 starts. We didn't have that going in to 2019. There were going to be innings limits before reaching 30 starts. FWIW on Lauer he has 7 starts vs. Colorado 4 at Coors where he should never see the field apparently. Those 4starts: 11.0IP 30hit 26runs 23ER 18.82ERA 3HRs 10BBs 0IBB 8Ks 73batters faced 3.636Whip! 6.5k/9 The runs allowed in those 4 starts equal 18.2% of his career runs allowed in 7.7% of his career starts. His career ERA would drop to 3.612 when he doesn't pitch at Coors. Instead of 4.4ERA as it is now. He happens to be 5-0 vs the Dodgers in 7starts with a 2.11ERA. So maybe he has some Dodger kryptonite in him if/when we face them in the playoffs :D You know, digging in to that has gotta make everyone feel better about Lauer. Brewers only play at Coors for a total of 3 games this season. Counsell should be able to easily schedule him around that 3 game set.
  10. Well for competitive balance take your 15markets split and have the top 15 have players exposed earning 5-14mil for example. Take a draft worst to 1st record wise. It'll be like Rule 5. So say Pitts takes a player from NY, NY can protect a player from the example range. NY would still be responsible for that players salary Pittsburgh picked. The 6yrs control still exists. Unless player is on contract the contract length exists. After the season NY having another year control or more are returned this picked player. All controlled players are returned to the top market teams for the next season. So rinse repeat. 1 round. 1 picked and paid for player. The draft would happen a week before winter meetings so all teams involved would now know where they stand payroll wise for upcoming season. Top markets who paid for their player drafted would have that payroll obligation not count on luxury tax. I'll have to come back after contract research for team fits and salary fits to be drafted. Quick idea would be Milw drafting Corey Seager for the 2020 season. But I doubt he'd make it to Milw? Just nix the competitive balance rewards in drafts and implement this. Rather than a crapshoot at teams coming out ahead in a draft pick, you are picking very good players for 1yr rental.
  11. I'd use fip but BRef doesnt show in the split. Less hits per 9, HR per 9, Whip, slightly higher k per 9. Its pretty obvious he does better as a RP, ERA or not. Im sorry you have the time to make the same RP argument you always do on variance or "small sample" but you need to do some of the stat leg work to back up your comments some of these times. Youre vanilla with a set in stone attitude on RP/ERA and small samples. There are virtually dozens in the last decade who were terrible or averagish SP and lights out RP for multiple seasons consecutively. Non impact vs huge impact to their teams.
  12. Homer. I laughed.
  13. That's true. But I will argue on Erceg's end that 2018 was full season and his 1st for AA. 2019 minus a 4game stint from A ball, was essentially a full first season at AAA. Anderson's career OPS sits at .756 in the minors with a 1.0+ for AAA as he established himself in to the big leagues. Here was his MLB writeup in 2017 ranked 8th for Miami's prospects. Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50 Anderson made a name for himself during his college career at Arkansas, showing advanced feel to hit and power potential as well as the ability to play multiple positions. The Marlins, believing in his untapped offensive potential, made him a third-round pick in 2014. He scuffled offensively the following year at Class A Advanced Jupiter, but rebounded in 2016, as he earned an early-season promotion to Double-A Jacksonville and then hit a circuit-best five homers as part of an impressive Arizona Fall League campaign. He built on that success in 2017, earning a trip to the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game followed by a promotion to Triple-A New Orleans. Anderson's right-handed swing has cleaned up nicely since signing, and he's long showed good feel for finding the barrel along with a selective approach. Tall and athletic in the box, he knows how to create leverage and extension through the hitting zone, giving him at least average power potential, with above-average raw pop to his pull side. After bouncing between the infield and outfield in college and then working at both second and third base during his professional debut, Anderson has manned the hot corner exclusively since the start of 2015. His hands, range and plus arm are all fits at the position. Anderson's performance in the Fall League set the stage for a 2017 campaign that's seen him improve on all fronts against advanced competition. While there once was concern about whether he would hit for enough average and power to profile as a regular at the hot corner, Anderson has done his part to prove his detractors wrong with a career-best campaign in '17 That was his 2nd go at AA and 33gm great AAA show to run right on to Miami's ML team. Hasnt looked back. Erceg is pretty much at the same stage. And Im using Erceg as trade bait but I wonder with Stearns 3b moves thus far this offseason, if they are preparing for that reality before the end of 2020. Erceg probably never sniffs the top 100 again because he'd be promoted before that ranking could come out. Just going to remain positive on him. Grisham came outta nowhere after basically looking toast as a prospect.
  14. Keep plugging away man... I unplugged this sink and now Im going to unclog this gut! Day two is almost successfully over!
  15. Smyly was signed by the Giants 1yr 4mil with up to 2.75mil incentives. On the Houser SP vs RP. It's shown above the ERA goes from #4/5 SP avg to a Shutdown RP. I'm still okay on going with Houser to start the season or at least he's not a problem as a SP when injuries or performances wane. Think I mentioned the Houser to Peralta #5 with the other as RP. Peralta's splits from SP/RP aren't as wide but he gives up less HR as a RP. He's 23 still to start the season. Woodruff's debut was at 24.5 yrs old essentially. I believe Houser has shutdown RP down for his future in the bullpen. It's where he goes as a SP. Zach Davies is off a 2.5BWar season of 159.2IP at 3.55 ERA(higher Fip) Josh Hader the beast of the RP provided 2.6BWar with his season. So I think there is your barometer. Can Houser or Peralta be a 2.5WAR or better SP or will you be better off getting close to 2WAR from then in the bullpen? Nationals out of their Rotation got 3.3BWar from their #4 starter a 35yr old Anibel Sanchez of which was more than his previous 4 seasons combined in value. (Our Brett Anderson in 2020?) I dunno I am on the Taijuan Walker signing train. I think that would provide a lot of insurance for some period of the 2020 season. Peralta and Houser aren't exactly full season IP certainties. Peralta 141 in 2018. Houser 132.2IP last season. So you gotta plan some kind of timeshare to limit the IP ceilings both would hit. One months worth of stints as RP ought to clear most of that up. Walker has to be looking for a good 1yr prove it deal with a good 2yr option to not be signed at this point. But I'll leave that for Rumors and just say the rotation is workable for me with that maybe 1 last #3-5 fillin for at least half a season's of games.
  16. Thanks fellas on the added comments. I made it through day 1. Was less hungry waking up in the morning than I was going to bed. Of course my kitchen sink decides to become plugged and I had to miss the breakfast I am planning on eating for the most part through this. Not going well using the home remedy and now Drano gel max. I swear God has an agenda against me on ever getting fit. Had it in 2004 over 110lbs lost. less than year later fracture my spine in an ATV accident to end that little era of my life. Had put back 50lbs over the next 9years. Go 9months of really good gym training only dropped 8lbs during this time but my bench had gone from 110 to 225. Curling 50lbs from 20s. Squatting close to 300lbs. Wake up next day migraine. 2 weeks later Brain Cancer. 2018 I finally get a reprieve to get back in to the gym and my knee decides to say no way. Felt like I tore my acl or mcl but after a couple months found out it was an IT Band issue. I had missed work. So my next season I did what I could just so I could finish the season. Problem is post cancer I've gained another 55lbs back and am basically back where it all began for me in 2003. Don't want to cross that newest high threshold. My original battle was that stretch before cancer I wanted to stay below halfway from the weight I was when my battle began. Now we're here. With a sink that won't drain any faster than sloth like.
  17. BA posted their top 100 today(membership needed) got me to wonder how Monte Harrison was doing. Followed by checking the marlins mlb top 30 and seeing Isan Diaz and Jordan Yamamoto weren't there anymore due to MLB service time. While looking at the Marlins team page on BRef, they have a 3b by the name of Brian Anderson who has some solid things going for him. Hit more HRs last year in less PAs than season before. Had an .811 OPS for his 2019. Statcast he's around 90MPH exit velo(+) and a 21% K Rate(avg). More Launch last season(+), more barrels (+) and an 8.5% BB rate(Avg) plus the ever important age 26 turning 27 this season. He's hit RHP better than LHP. Has a near identical H/A .777/.773 OPS career and has a 30/40/30 spray chart all around the outfield. And a 3.8BWAR last season after 3.9 in 2018. Now he doesn't have the eye-popping years in the minors to dream on him near playing AS baseball so I think you could maybe get away with less offered. It'd still hurt but they may want some insurance on SS and even 2b. That would put Turang atop the trade. They'd lose their 3b so you'd add Gyorko for that, and part with Erceg to be their future 3b. The upside here is will Anderson improve on his LHP split, moving to Miller increase his Home OPS and being prime aged controlled. His Defensive stats improved for 3b from his 2018 and he's near a full season experience playing RF. I'd say someone to look at with the 3-5WAR gain for an everyday 3b. Why would Miami make this trade? They're clearly still rebuilding and Turang and Erceg pushes the timeline back to fit when they'd come out of it. Isan Diaz doesn't have the best history for maintaining solid batting slashes, but he does have flashes that a team may want to buy during the trade deadline or offseason this season or next. Marlins with Turang have another SS type prospect so they have the 2b depth to make such a move. Among the Marlins top 10 are 4 SPs all at AA level for 2019 so fits the narrative to a 2year window delay and reason to part with Anderson for Turang and Erceg that are about 2years to impact away.
  18. So. I started an intermittent fasting diet today. Browze to Off topic to mention Im starting this diet and wondering had anyone here done so? Then the first topic I read is Pizza thread. Read that and put a comment. Now come here and half the posts were Also about pizza! Bugging me is my hunger lol. So success stories? On the blinker comment. I hate the zero use. Especially at stoplight some cars go by one just stops mid way and Im sitting waiting to turn. No turn signal, they pulled far enough I cant see if i should go and I could have gone when they began this stunt. Ope yellow light Ope guy runs red light. Ope Im finally making my turn with cross traffic on my ass. #Hangrylol
  19. Jack's used to have a mexican pizza with a seasoning packet that I ate a lot in my 20s. No longer find that version. It may have been named. My family used to splurge on a pizza place that I believed closed down within last 10 years. I feel like it was around 52nd-70th streets and on or between Hampton and Burleigh? Just monstrous sized pizzas. Loaded in toppings. Anyone know the place Im referring to? Having worked in Sheboygan for 18years now, I think there was a place that became Pit Stop pizza by the movie theatre. The previous place had this amazing taco pizza. It was loaded. I'll take suggestions for mexican/taco pizzas. For me today and its been hit or miss lately I get my fix on Digiornos spicy chicken pizza. Adding my share of mexican chili pepper on top. Stores dont seem to carry this pizza like used to.
  20. And that's fine. My point stands on the park effects not only for him but his teammates. .362 vs .289 OB. Slg .522 to .388. That will affect his RBI and runs scored unless he's moving to a team that has the slash rates Colorado had at home. And not one team fill that stat line. Houston did .352 and .495 as best in Baseball. Milw was 9th and 12th in baseball for OB and Slg. It's unclear if we've improved on that and at this point most must feel it's likely at or worse as the roster stands. If you tried to translate a full season for him based on his road splits for his career, that comes to roughly 29HR/85RBI So just trying to show the stat line wouldn't be 41HR and 125RBI after 156 games played for Milwaukee. Now take a line such as .275 32HR and 92RBI and are you really considering paying 35mil a year for that? Are you considering trading away valuable prospects to complete this trade? The ideas of signing Lester or Darvish are a better idea than considering a trade for Arenado. Colorado knows they made a huge mistake with his contract and if they can get out of it they will be LoL-ing at the sucker they pawned him off to. Please, please any team in the Central do it.
  21. It's premature to want to give him an extension post Knee Cap injury isn't it? how much value does he lose if he becomes an under 10 closer to 5 SB runner a season? What if his defense takes a turn for the worse with less speed or lack of ability sliding or even diving for a ball? How is his arm velocity with push off from his knees and legs making a throw? How does his lower body react while making a swing? I mean think about that. His throwing motion will be coming following through on his right leg. His batting stance and swing through rotate around his right knee and leg. Sliding in to a base is that with his right leg going in to the bag? Does he push off the right leg first as he goes to steal a base? Wouldn't it just fit the Brewers luck that he returns a forever worse player? I mentioned somewhere before, I think for Yelich his extension with Miami fit perfectly for him to go to FA for a contract that finishes off his career. He should test the FA market unless my concerns noted above become a truth and he's just a 2-3WAR player vs where he reached these last 2 seasons.
  22. We could have just signed Donaldson and gotten just as much a complete player for less money and not trading away anyone in the farm. No Donaldson means 0x1bil chances of making a move for him. What is that? 0 chance. Donaldson just had a better year via BWar by .4 over Arenado. JD didn't bat at a home field called Coors. Side note add on Arenado. He is massively increased in value because of Coors. His HRs may not be affected as much but his 2b,3b and RBI are affected a lot. He likely doesn't even becomes a 100RBI bat. Why? Well let's take a look at Colorado's team Batting Splits: Ope. There it is, .300/.362/.522 Home and .230/.289/.388 Road Split. .362 OB vs .289 OB. Arenado 32% more doubles at home for his career, 350% more triples at home, and 55% more RBI at home for his career. You're not acquiring a 110+RBI machine Overall for Milw we had a .329OB last season. We don't possess that huge gap for doubles and triples. Those are mostly now outs. You go to Arenado's career OPS and it sits .799 on the road. As a Team Milw sat at .767. Sounds like those for Arenado want an .830OPS 3b paid 35mil a year for 2years and shed a lot from the farm for a bat that end of season totals they'd bark to acquire someone that is actually near .900OPS his doesn't cut it. What can we trade Arenado for in return to replenish our farm and get that bat that's .900OPS at 3b?
  23. right? I dont think there's any need to over analyse what happened last night, it was really straight forward. SF was playing like they had Bo Jackson on their roster in Tecmo Superbowl. I mean sure overall by stats but the RB didn't just run over people. SF used an elite FB(ours on IL) and an elite blocking TE who torched the team receiving 134 on 6Rec in the regular season game, only to seal what seemed the outside or inside whatever the play needed him to block. I don't recall a single time he missed on his block or was shucked aside. So defensively we were facing 7 run blockers on a defense where they probably played back 5 with CBs and Safeties and Martinez needed to clean up and instead he was pushed out of the play or downfield before he did. 7vs6 equals dominant. This is where Pettine needed to make some sort of adjustment by playing Amos closer to line of scrimmage to dare SF to open up the playbook. Did Amos make any play around the line of scrimmage? Doesn't look like it. 4 tackles only as well, for a Safety, when a RB is averaging 10yards a carry.
  24. I think that has to do with him being risk averse. Overthrow it to be incomplete and not an Int. I'm more in line of he needs to underthrow it a little where the WR needs to come back a little and make a play. Just more HR throws in general with a modicum of being 50/50. Via the pct of 50/50 is where I'm jumping him up to 15-18INT. I mean if he's not going to adjust to where is skills leave him today, we aren't going to win a SB with him at QB sans a legit LB in the Ray Lewis mold.
  25. Rodgers has to adapt to from his risk adverse style. He threw that pick to Sherman there at the end but had Adams caught that, near TD, the game is certainly an onside pooch more interesting. The Rodgers of old would have found a way to have 40-55yards on the ground tonight. That is what made the best QB all-time in skills was his ability to move the chains one way or the other and escape the pass rush. Rodgers had 1 rush for 0yards this game. So understanding that moving forward, if he's not going use his legs to move the chains he's gotta put throws out there that may be intercepted. Favre won a lot of games throwing interceptions. And I'm not saying Rodgers needs to be that bad. But him throwing 15-18 interceptions a season in the next 2 to 3 seasons could help him moving forward with his legs not helping him get the job done. Not saying intermediate throws, but throws 40yards down field. Let's put it this way. He needs to start attacking downfield throws like he does after a defense jumps offsides. That part is probably all I needed to say without much of the rest. When making my statement on becoming Favre-lite, there were so many times where Favre got picked off on 3rd down and long. I wouldn't bat an eye because it was a 40 to 50yard 50/50 bomb to someone deep. Complete it, Wow. It gets picked, and the defender is tackled on contact with the 50/50 jump ball by WR, it's just a standard punt with maybe 5 yard return. The risk on that play though is paid off with a safety not cheating up like San Fran could today. Oh, and I'll say that even though we scored on that defense in the 2nd half, you couldn't put blame on the Def. Cord for calling soft, prevent stuff. We earned those 3 TDs. Anway, Rodgers I believe doing that 2 or 3 more times a game vs taking the sack or throwing the ball out of bounds, would maybe reinvent him to still being able to be a top 10 QB in the league. He'd have more than 500yards passing a season than he does when these 50/50 bombs complete. MVS I think was to a degree supposed to be kinda that guy to do that, But dude just has no desire. Not a soldier on that field. Allison too this year seemed to also retire from being a soldier on that field. That's the WR Rodgers needs. What WR can the team sign in FA that has that in him? Drew Brees seems to have 3 on the field every season. Lazard provided some "give me the ball" but I don't see him as the 50/50 go up and take the ball from the defender on way down type.
