  1. Seems like a good DP pitcher to come in relief for a SP with 1out in the inning. All those 4.1/5.1IP starts. With the new rules kicking in to complete the inning. He'd fit that mold to just need to face 1batter to get two outs. As the season/experience wears on, maybe he proves a bigger role usage? Or he doesnt make it through the winter meetings. Just a warm body brought in to tryout. A high GB% pitcher can probably go two innings on less than 20 pitches. Nice way to get a lot of innings with little wear and tear on an arm. I would think at his velocity, batters foul off a higher amount of pitches.
  2. Wonder how the game would have played out. If he had made that FG, hes kicking that FG on 4th&6 with over 1min left. Oh, hmm Noah Fant was the go to 3straight endzone attempts there. So glad we drafted Gary. Dalton Risner playing at 1st rd level. Is there going to be any worse 1st rd draft pick? Isn’t 10 games into his career a little early to essentially call Gary a bust? Considering the 1st Rd busts on defense the Packers have been drafting and trading away of late. 10games is just about 1/3 of the games his Packer Life has. He's not showing any impact that garners more snaps for the rest of this season. If 3seasons is his lifespan here, 1/3 of it is a clear bust. Worse than the recent 1st rd def busts because higher draft pick.

  5. Good. I dont like Pitchers with a 10day IL as it was abused by a number of teams. (Dodgers looking at you) when a SP has a skip coming up and magically one goes down for 10days. All good with the 10day for position players. I'd even take a 7day designation(Braun looking at you) with a 15day. Put that the 1st 7day a player can be called up to the "26" man. A 2nd or more 7day designation, the team cannot. You need to use the 15day. But hey it is how it is.
  6. Isnt the comp pick tied to the deal made? Like if Donaldson sigbs for less than 50mil the pick is worse. More and its better? A 3rd or a 1st. I know Im wrong on what it is but the idea should be correct
  7. How does the laser that would be in this football know when a player is down? Down 4 inches short but player reaches the ball over this goal line? So he's short, but this ball confirms he made the line of the endzone? That has to be why you don't have that technology. I dislike the PI reviews, since I've yet to see one overturned that should have been. That the challenge costs the team a TO and 1 of 2 challenges. I think that maybe the PI review should be limited to one challenge in it's own right w/o timeout implications, unless used in the 1st quarter, for the game. Almost in reality inside the 2min warning, Int or TD plays, and 3rd or 4th down plays only. One time only in the game. Those situations to me are the game changing ones. If the potential challenging play happens on 1st or 2nd down that doesn't result in a TD or Int, then really it's not game changing. You have 3rd and 4th down to fall back on. The whole discussion on that TD vs FG to end the 1st half and changing the future applies here. Who's to say the offensive team doesn't gain a 1st down or TD in the next play or two? The thought came to me in Baseball that the Replay decisions in NY should have 3 guys kept apart who must submit their vote within 15-20secs? lets say. And done. Best 2 outta 3. Sorta like boxing right? If we're watching a replay on TV it takes 2 quick replay views to come to a clear decision and we have our minds made up.
  8. Well the Panthers WR stood perfectly in way of the camera that would have given the best look. If he wasn't at that exact spot, something would have been shown. Someone already called out the 5min. I didn't feel the review to end a game took long at all, in fact quicker than I'd expect, which maybe clearly showed that the ball never reached the TD line. Gotta figure it takes 25-30secs alone for the ref to jog over to the review camera and back to the portion of the field where he announces the decision. Which Baseball, come on with the time it takes for NY to view the replay and return the decision.
  9. That’s all I was thinking on that last drive. It simply can't be assumed that everything plays out the exact same in the second half. Different deficits, different game plans, everything. It's like in baseball when a guy gets caught stealing to end an inning and then the guy at the plate leads off the next inning with a HR and people are upset. But you just don't know how it might have played out differently. True, but 10pt lead and Jones/Williams running plays called that gashed Carolina's D for chunks of yards would be about the same of what really happened. As to your other reply, I think they bled the clock to end the 1st half because A. they intended to score on any of the previous playcalls. B. You don't want to give Carolina the ball back with more time and TOs, keeping the momentum that should have been points on the board.
  10. I thought initially it was one of the Smith's and then Fackrell completed the tackle. That OL almost pushed him across, which somewhere I thought that would be a penalty. The guy physically bear-hugged and spun him forward. That which I thought we were penalized earlier this season for? I think in a pile pushing forward is fine, but physically hands on and doing so wasn't allowed? Oh I wasn't near my laptop when it happened but King certainly was pushed off worse than Lazard's Off PI and not called. They acted like it was the footing, but 3yards of separation happened by the pushoff.
  11. Simple. On the road, TD wins it instead of ties it. Unconventional, but not without logic. Analytically not much difference between going for 1 or 2 anyway with a likely slight advantage to going for 2. It looks stupid now but would look genius if it had worked and they end up winning 25-24. One of those calls that is totally dependent on whether it works or not. I'd tend to trust my offense picking up two yards against our D too. And that's why I get that call vs the go for a TD AT home with 2secs left in the first half. Home/Away playcalling. Considering how the game had played out to that moment, to call go for it would indicate to me you didn't believe your defense could stop them nor could your offense score enough more with a 10pt lead. I hope this is a 1st yr coach blunder and he learns from it.
  12. No drama if we had kicked the FG to end the 1st half.
  13. oh boy. Take the points. At home to go up 7 and get the ball 2nd half. Huge momentum shift if this doesn't work.
  14. It's much, much worse. It may be the worst special teams in our lifetimes. One may have to think that spending so many high draft picks on defense(who then of course don't play special teams) and then filling up ST with UDFA talents may be to explain?
  15. It's just how all their body postures/positions looked. It didn't fit imo to their surroundings.
  16. Yes, he's actually been floated as a trade candidate quite a bit, due to his very large salary, and the fact that the Red Sox want to try to get under the luxury tax threshold. Even big markets have issues with budgets, and that team is paying out a crapload of money in other spots. I think both Betts and Boegarts are considered trade candidates because they not only make a lot, they are also studs that should have enough value where the team would not only be able to deal them without eating any of their contracts, but also get a nice amount of value in return. I think some in the Red Sox front office were hoping that JD Martinez would opt out of his deal in order to free up some funds, but since he didn't, they are going to have to look at either making tough decisions to cut costs, or pay that luxury tax penalty once again - which keeps escalating with each consecutive year of exceeding it. Looking around Google and Betts trade rumors, I don't see the Red Sox Brass making mentions. An Extension talk being forthcoming. The Rumors are outside based on that Betts has said he wants to test FA, along with as you mentioned easiest contract to get under the luxury tax threshold. Which of course requires 0 MLB players in return only MILB to do so. That or, they are still looking to shed the value amount of the MLB Player/s contract in return. I know it's happened(Reds recently with the Dodgers) where a team bailed them out of that money crunch, while giving up something of value that really they shouldn't of. Why in a competitive sport would you help out a Luxury Tax team that makes oodles of money, to get below said luxury tax and the penalties they've faced? While also helping their minors system? It's Betts' desire to test FA that makes the rumors. I don't see it from the Front Office.
  17. Has there been a single mention of the Red Sox potentially trading Betts? I'd think they would extend him or finish 2nd at worst in Free Agency after they QO him. Dude is on track for HoF and may lock that up by the time he turns 30. How could they trade him and do that to their fans?
  18. Hiura had 2.1BWar in 84gms last season and 19HRs. It's a big time nope. Far more valuable alone than Lindor is, based on control&payroll. Give Hiura 700+ABs and hes easily over 40HRs based on last season. That would be more than Lindor. And considering Hiura's Ks this season as a rookie, Id venture he improves on that making his stats even better. The Indians couldn't say yes fast enough to Hiura for Lindor.
  19. What about the Atlanta Braves? They would clearly have the SP our team needs. Their 3 highest Games Finished RP, not one below 3.7ERA. But now I'm looking and they traded 2 SP prospects this season including a guy I'd take all day in Kolby Allard!!! OMG for a 17.2IP 4.08ERA 33yr old Chris Martin. Wow. Ian Anderson would be the top SP prospect now. Not as high at #2, Kyle Wright(may be living on #5 pick) but #3 is Bryce Wilson who MLB.com says is the first HS player to reach the Majors from 2016. Same class as Anderson. So there's that. Minnesota is another team I'm wondering about. Top prospect is Royce Lewis a SS who is currently blocked by one Jorge Polanco a 5.7WAR SS this season and signed for 4more years with 2 option years beyond that. Maybe you can flip Hader and Arcia for Polanco and the Twins #2 SP prospect ranked 75th currently, Jordan Balazovic. Twins would open up SS for Lewis and by the looks of it have a heckuva shut down Bullpen based on last season's stats.
  20. The Cubs gave up one of the top prospects in baseball to get less than a year of Chapman. They also gave up 3 other below average players in the deal. Imo Hader could bring something like that to the Crew, depending on how desperate the receiving team is for him. To counter that though, Ken Giles brought Vince Velasquez and 3 nobodys. But a Vince Velasquez type of headliner in a Hader deal would be the starting point. 6mil~ish isn't the moving force this year. I'd sit tight with him this year and go from there, but what happens is his FG value is about 20mil as a RP production 4yrs control but with cost you kinda go from 60mil surplus value to below 50 next season. And the value now is RP of the year value. A poor season or injury may drop that significantly. So something in the lines of a Top 20 prospect now, down to a top 50 prospect with remaining the same value. It worsens and you're in that top 75-125 discussion. Now, that's on an offseason value. Trade Deadline value is fluctional, but now we're talking, "We're not in the Playoff chase," something you're expecting to be involved in for another 2years or more?
  21. This is brutal to Milw and payroll. Youre looking at what was probably 1mil this year to 6mil now. Instead of 6mil in '21 that number will be closer to 11mil. 17.5 instead of 10, 22 instead 16. Of course that's relying he continues being RP of the year. So yes the reality is he'll be traded a year sooner. Probably 2years now left with him as a Brewer. Or, the Brewers trade him now for something massive and let that problem manifest for another team.
  22. This is the argument for Mertz being played in the 2nd half. I mentioned Coan had a 20yard arm to defend and OSU stacked the box, stuffing him, Taylor, about anything that was inside the box. Having Mertz or running the wildcat at least drops one out of the box or run blitz defense, because big play potential would rise. Coan out there that day had probably a 5% chance at a big play potential. I know I was responded to on the 20yard mention and that OSU's QB didn't have but 2pass plays over 20yards. The answer to that is that they didn't need that kind of big play. They got their yards because the O-line had to only account for a LB and playcall away from said LB. Their OL is better than UW's DL. QB also could escape the pocket and run downfield for yards. The point is that UW didn't play stacking the box and daring the QB to throw a ball longer than 15yards. The game also wasn't close as it continued on, and a coach only needed to plays that ran the clock because it continued to work. As Monte Ball tweeted the offense is too predictable and a Playoff quality team as OSU is took advantage of Chryst coaching with predictability.
  23. Adams definitely was eye candy for Rodgers today. I am of the opinion Lazard needs to be WR2 and starting. I feel MVS has a limited playbook to draw from. Allison plays undersized. Lazard wants it. Plays big on the field. Today, Adams return took Lazard off the field the first half. If there's a positive to look at its that Lazard has talent and he's showing it when he gets snaps. Rodgers has two go to threats again at WR.
  24. Since it worked for the Chargers today, Pettine should be fired before they board the plane home. New coordinator can spark something in the defense. Kenny Clark was beat something awful multiple times today. And maybe theres scheme going on causing that. It helps the Smiths but not him and his effort lacked. Amos. He was something to begin the year, now he looks played out. Another scheme problem. Blitz him more. I thought we may be getting a guy that would be like Leroy Butler, not a step closer HaHa as it looks right now. I think its time to adjust to where this league has gone and draft Offense only. You can fill the defense with UDFa like Lancaster who has out performed Gary the higher 1st rd pick this year. Bulags has regressed these last two weeks. Back to being overrated. This team might not make the playoffs. Seriously. With the remaining schedule, making it to 10wins is asking a lot.
  25. Who was our 1st pick this year?
