  1. I figured it out for the defense. When is the last time you can say they had a great Middle Linebacker? SF's 2nd year guy was dominant, clean, mean, and always in position. I believe I heard he was a 3rd round pick? Definitely failed to draft a number of them I recall a number of posters wanted, and was there. Martinez isn't the answer. He may have numbers, but it's clear he's more a liability than a well deserved leader at MLB. We wasted all these drafts drafting secondary and it's been the Middle Linebacker we've needed.
  2. Agree. Not sure KC got a thing in return? Are any of the players listed above AAAA types?
  3. Martinez in coverage=auto 20yd gains.
  4. Both clear penalties. Imagine if they didnt those? Just shove the receiver to the ground in middle of endzone
  5. Inches away from a blatant Personal foul there. That guy dove head first at Rodgers and only the tacklers spinning Rodgers milliseconds before contact saved him from that. Wow.
  6. Is Lazard okay? had that nice run, I hadn't noticed him anymore in the game?
  7. Think the reason why is apparent.
  8. Yeah, it’s probably not smart to run it right at their front 7. I prefer putting the ball in Rodgers’ hands most of the time. Gotta trust him. Seems like any time it’s a 4th and 1 or end of half playcall down by the goal line (okay, it happened only once), it’s a run play right up the gut. Switch it up. They ran the ball middle/right. The weakest part of that line missing Bulaga(supposedly best run blocker on team?) Linsley total liability in this game.
  9. laughable. 9ers didn't need help, but the refs, here they are. Should have been a long 3rd down from the 50. Terrible.
  10. 2 possessions in, SF's front is 5stars vs GB's 1star OL front. Rodgers may go down for 6 sacks and 17knockdowns.
  11. Lazard should have a big day with quick throws. I'd imagine Bosa will line up more over Bulaga's side and wreak havoc. I'd take the 49ers today with the only caveat being if the Packers created a fumble turnover in 49er territory and scored a TD moments later. Well the opposite happened within 2mins in the game. Game over. Senseless penalty. Terrible 3rd down turnover. Going to be a super long night watching this blowout.
  12. The prediction on Strasburg is 6/180. I'd venture he gets more. bye bye Milwaukee chances.

  14. Cotton did pitch last season only at the A+&AAA level. These players aren't rule 5 players. They are casualties of a team needing the 40man roster spot to protect a rule 5 eligible player. You may be thinking Cotton is a SP target for 2020, but I'm having envisions of a Bullpen arm. If you're looking at a SP, he may just have to spend some time at AAA to get back to that level. wntrtxn21 said Just say no to Cortes. He was badly overmatched in the big leagues last year (5.80 ERA - 5.57 FIP - 28 walks in only 66 IPS - 1.55 WHIP - 2.2 HRs per 9) Yeah I see that number. Which the numbers are tilted off his HR rate. Cortes will be 25years old. Has 37games of MLB history. The Minors numbers are mid around 3 ERA with a 9.1k:2.3BB per 9 ratios. He had a 5IP relief appearance 2ER. Innings filler is what I see in him. When you have a 5IP rotation on good days and 3.2 on bad days, that ability is pretty solid. Been in this role for the New York Yankees. Not playing for the Milwaukee Brewers. He's gotta have at least 1 option. And will have control through 2025 when he'd turn 30. On Duffy, being RH makes him a moot point at 2b and for a SS, that bat isn't beating Arcia right now at the rate of his defense there. So, platoon at 3b it is with emergency 2b/SS flexibility. There's obviously a lot of time to sign Moose or acquire a 3b over Shaw and Duffy becomes the new Perez in the IF. Just think, there's Lament on Brown being left exposed for the Rule 5 with the numbers Cortez posted in the Majors at the same age. One last thing on the contending mention. Picking from guys with 8IP or more for Milw last season, The team received 364.2IP of 6.52 ERA from those players. I'd rather take a look at Cortez than Taylor Williams/Aaron Wilkerson/Matt Albers/Jerremy Jeffress moving forward.
  15. My word, Giannis had 19Reb and 15assists last night. I feel that is absurd. Wonder how that ranks all-time. How many 20/15s exist that beat his number. Just a Box score watch so nothing to add. Not a fan to see they gave up 71pts in the 2nd half at home.
  16. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/11/interesting-players-designated-in-advance-of-rule-5-deadline.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook 4 spots open you can pick one up. Though I'm not sure how the Brewers stand in terms of order to claim one of these players. Matt Duffy. Positional flex but RH. That would leave a career .718OPS 3b to platoon with Shaw? Nick Goody. Sounds like a great RP arm to pick up and see if a tweak on his control is possible. Has some solid experience yet not in Arb yet for cost. Nestor Cortes Jr. 24 and has multi inning RP down. Look at his minors to majors and his Fip and he's going through Corbin Burnes HR problems. 2.2HR/9 in his first taste full season of play. Career .6HR/9 in the minors. The more you look at the stats, the more he's a must get. Jharel Cotton. Pretty sure the majority know of this kid. Probably beckoned in return in trade ideas with the Dodgers prior to Oakland getting him. Didn't play in 2018 due to TJ and a Hamstring injury interrupted his 2019 season. He did pitch in the minors last year as mostly a RP and finished his last 5 appearances with 8IP 3ER given up. Started the very last game Sept 1st. 3IP 0ER 4h 1bb 2Ks. So just looking at his 7+ERA last season in the minors doesn't tell the full story. You go return from TJ to Hamstring injury to return from Hamstring injury encompassing the first 19.2IP before that last 5 appearance stretch. There's another go and get him potential. The last name isn't playing in 2020 and forget that one. The four I do list all are under 30 with control beyond just 2020. Gotta believe one of these guys is coming our way.
  17. I read that after my too. Still. Maybe you can part with Burnes and Nottingham for him. Which Id of thought impossible to trade Corbin. SP/RP that was in the top 50 rankings on a down year. A fix could open a pot of gold in that return. Maybe this kind of move doesnt happen til late spring. Two to maybe target nonetheless.
  18. Just perused some of the prior and newer top catcher prospects. Looking for maybe a guy blocking or being blocked. The Arizona DBacks have Carson Kelly now who played well last season. And then there is a one Daulton Varsho. From WI that is projected to make the Majors in 2020. Let's make a deal! I'll return to this later but go ahead. Discuss.
  19. Deal seems spot on for Grandal. I think the 4th year is the deal breaker here. Payroll for Milw after 3years couldn't afford Grandal. Hiura, Woodruff, Hader especially will be expensive. You're still looking to put a good team out there and Grandal may carry less than half that value year 4. Money the team will need. Big addition for the White Sox. Great fit for baseball. Not a Yankees/Hou/Red Sox big market hoard.
  20. I had no clue Bickford was a thing again. Not one IP above A+? Protect him? Yay so he dominated the 2H at the age of 23. Brown at least pitched in AAA. Terribly though. Maybe the team isn't protecting who you think they should because they're prospects, not MLB All-star potentials. Whats our Minors rank currently? 30th? 27th at best? What team is going to stash Erceg when he likely wouldnt be top 15-20 in that teams system? Much less worth playing time in MLB in 2020? Reality check and a good one on Stearns who will add more talent in the rule5 draft vs keeping less.
  21. The reason you don't see him show up much is because he isn't playing a lot of snaps. He only played 16 of their 64 defensive snaps last week. The reason he isn't playing a lot of snaps is because he is playing behind the Smiths, who are fourth and seventh in the league in sacks. He's also playing fewer snaps than Fackrell; before the criticisms of Fackrell come out, Fackrell is their coverage OLB, and last year Fackrell led the league in sacks per 100 pass rush attempts - he drops back in coverage a lot more than you think. I think Gary has been lining up on the interior on passing downs the last few games, which gives him fewer opportunities to make plays, but the main reason is because he isn't getting a lot of snaps because of how good the Smiths have been. And that's a good problem to have. Thats fair enough.
  22. The eye test is the feeling. I watch for him like I said #52 and I not seen production. Where is he? What is he doing? And then to argue the results in snaps played by Burns and stretch out Gary's numbers to that snap total don't jive for me. You moved a guy from DE to LB and Im wondering if the reason hes not getting the snaps is because hes not worthy of them. Joey. Outside the pocket. Chasing down a RB or reading and disrupting a screen. Hustle plays for a Freak Athlete. Just give me something. Something to notice you are even on the field. Lancaster & Fackrell do with their talents. My draft opinions aside, I consider him a bust because I hope so hard that a 1st rd 1st choice pick is special. What has it been since Matthews/Raji? For Defense?
  23. So 10 games is too early to call him a bust but it isn’t because he was the 12th pick? Who would you have picked instead that would have been worth that spot in your mind? Or what would Gary need to do so far for you not to call him a bust? Every year there are lower draft picks or UDA’s who make big impacts and outplay higher drafted players - doesn’t make the higher draft pick a bust after less than a season worth of games. Don’t take this as me saying I wanted Gary at #12... I just don’t think you can make that type of judgement When I watch the Packer games, I keep an eye out for Gary and I cant think of the last time currently where he showed up in A single play. I have to remind myself he's wearing #52. Lancaster makes a play or two noticeably in about every game of late. The feelings towards Gary being a bust is seeing opponents having a rookie picked after him contributing or making plays in the game. Fant was probably my go to on any trade lower. Risner was too. Burns was still there if you were committed to drafting an edge/LB hybrid. Haskins was near being picked. Just sliding back a few spots, you could have still had Gary or the other 3 who've been more productive. Plus the pick or picks you'd have received if for the 2019 draft to use. Devin Bush was an exciting player that I liked the most but drafted 2spots ahead of us. I really have the feeling he was the pick and in the span leading from Bush's selection to the Packers selection of Gary. That Gunst couldnt pull off a trade within that window. Sternberger if he can get a few targets and catches his way down the stretch I will probably not care so much on Gary. I've noticed Jace on the field blocking in a number of snaps lately. TE is something missing for Rodgers for awhile now. I'll feel less hurt on the Fant vs Gary miss. Edit add. Also one last thing on Gary. The Packers drafted him as a LB. You know freakish speed. Has he made a single play outside the pocket? Just another confusing disappointment of what his role is.
  24. Im just bumping this so the discussion on Gary doesnt eat pages after pages for NFL news. I get it that 10games is awfully early for declaring a bust. It's a bust though imo in relation to his draft pick, what was available, and as Adam pointed out, using the choice with the FA signings making Gary a future project. Theres just so many players picked below him having big impacts (like Jenkins&Savage) It's yr two for Trubisky with Chi. And Im now reading rumbling worst QB drafted this decade in 1st rd./for the cost. He had actually shown promise by game 10 vs the current Trubisky Chi is saddled with.
  25. Sounds to me like LA designed a deal that from the onset keeps their payroll lower or below Luxury tax threshold. How does MLB assess the Payroll for the Dodgers if the player is 3.15mil and at end of season 14.15? On the flip side, I wish contracts were like Maeda's. Say for Rookies especially and do away with Arb. To some extent. Instead of under 1mil for the first 3+ seasons, the guy could make say 10mil in any of those years. Maybe you just hand down 6years team control/ length of time to sign an agreed contract.
