Rodgers loves the slower-developing big play, but he has proven time and time again that he is at his best when they roll with the no-huddle quick-strike offense. It keeps the defense on its toes, makes substitutions difficult and tires them out quick. That's why you saw the Bears' pass rush rendered basically useless in the second half last Sunday, after dominating the first half. If Rodgers has one bad habit, it's using his mobility to run around in the pocket to try to create something out of nothing, rather than just throwing the ball away and living to see another day. It is both a blessing and a curse, as it has won games and caused both his collarbone injuries. Have you seen his Interception rate? He throws the ball away numerous times in a game. I've chimed in numerous games how McCarthy is terrible at playing quick ball pretty much until the final 2mins of the 1st half even though it clearly works far more than not. And a heckuva lot more than this 5-7step dropbacks early in the game. I think a big part of it is the O-Line is below average(Bulaga is worse than Tauscher when he was past his time) Defensive players wear out more and more vs O-Lineman as the game and plays on the field add up. It'd be like a rating game where the Line was a 5 and finished at 4.5 vs defenses that are 7 or 8 that finish at 5, regressing to something the O-Line can handle. And yet, McCarthy starts off with play calls that take time to develop and Rodgers is pressured and hit far more than he should be when you can call numerous 3 step quick throws that go for 3-7yards. And doesn't McCarthy script a number of the first plays the O runs? Should just run the 1st quarter with Rodgers calling the plays as if in a 2min drill.
