  1. Lucky for the Cubs, September callups. Getting tired down the stretch will be lessened than the Brewers dealing with that long stretch earlier this season with a 25man.
  2. Trent Grisham? If you can take a walk great. Maintain a higher BA great. 56% ground ball rate and .051 ISO is going to result in BABIP highs and lows. Now he has lesser of a K rate than Grisham, but if he's going to lack this power, .240 average seasons and .310 avg seasons are likely to occur. On the positive he's at SS which if his defense is above average will be valuable. If he doesn't stick there, he'll be one of those -1WAR/4WAR/0WAR/0WAR/4WAR kind of pattern when the BABIP is in his favor or not. You're not far off from a Luis Sardinas at the Rookie level.
  3. Wow. 11 teams are above .500 in NL..
  4. Well, added 3mil then 4mil in arbs so far. He's on a worse year thus far, so guess 3.5mil added is 12mil. But a hot finish and postseason maybe to 15mil.
  5. I was about to post this. 2ip-13ER. 48.50ERA. Under 2ERA the innings before.
  6. Ha, I read this all, thanks a long way back, mentioning I called a Villar/Ortiz value for Schoop. Im not even familar with Carmona, and his loss doesnt bother me. We got away from the frustrating player Villar presents. (I've liked him but he lacked some common sense) Ortiz was an easy sell high. One of the 40man crunches forthcoming who is a SP that can't achieve over 100IP it seems in 4years. To talented to put in the bullpen, but 2years away at beston his pace to reach a modest SP innings limit. That should have been year 1 this season, and iit's no way happening this year. Maintains the 40man flexibility vs usage on a Minor Leaguer stuck in the mud. Schoop is an improvement on depth and potential. Could trade him in the offseason, but this clearly puts to rest any Hiura call ups this season. All in all, we kept the guys we really didnt want to part with and Im glad. No mortgage the future, it is still brightly shining.
  7. Yep that would make the ranking more legit above Ray. 2 guys OPS .700 Monte would probably be 1.5WAR worth more due to his defensive ability. It's Like Phillips being worth 0.4BWAR when his OPS is at about 500. Arm, athleticism, and height. Remember, Monte is playing for a new team this season with Isan Diaz as maybe played with before. Expectations jumped from around #10 team prospect to #1 essentially in Miami. Playing at AA something he didn't experience last season for the first time. I'd expect Monte to gradually improve and breakout more at Corey Ray's current age at AA next season being acclimated to the new ball club and 2nd year around at AA.
  8. I think I saw something today that his ERA since some date (I wanna say mid-may) is in that 3.4-5 area he's accustomed to. But now he's also go to the AL east as opposed to the garbage AL central (other than Cle). Well, maybe not going through any Spring Training and signing so late while starting the season pitching every 5 days. First 8 starts-7.47ERA 5 weeks worth of time. Since then 7 of 12 quality starts with only 1 bad start below 5IP. I think the Yankees will make out fairly well in this deal while Minnesota is hoping on a lottery ticket. Was this worth it for them? Well Had Lynn performed better along with Jake Odorizzi they are likely buyers vs sellers.
  9. I'm going to guess Kyle Gibson with say a package of Corey Ray and Luis Ortiz plus a 3rd(ptbnl)
  10. Yep, no reason to give him up for Archer. 43.2IP 22hits! 11.8k/9 Any improvement on walks and this kid is in Ace territory higher than Archer ever achieved/came close to. The only thing Archer will have on Peralta this season is that he can pitch through the end of the season and playoffs. Archer's Fip is on account of his Ks and BB/9. He's still getting pounded hard, allowing more hits. He's a 1-1.5WAR pitcher being sold off as if a 4WAR pitcher.
  11. Well, I'll have to assume Gatewood can be left unprotected with his injury. Sucks because I thought he was going to break out some more. Steady improvement
  12. shouldn't there be a concern on Wheeler's innings? 2 year 0IP 86.1 ip last season. At 114.1 now. I get that he pitched 185 way back in 2014. But his injury history and near 30IP above last season leave me to question him for his next 50-60IP. Funny BRef puts a Shaun Marcum comp to him at this age. As I recall Marcum was on flames during the postseason in 2011. I'd think Wheeler is going to be on flames like Peralta by the end of August. Or in other words, you making a mistake acquiring Wheeler now vs this offseason.
  13. Part of that 40man crunch idea and parting with Medeiros is that maybe a couple guys they werent concerned with protecting, have now jumped to wanting on the 40man. Gatewood, Ortiz, Ponce, Lara? Top names off my head. Milw may have come to the conclusion Kodi is a RP future for a ceiling and chose such names as above to have higher ceilings. On a note, remember there was a Chris Sale sorta comp in Kodi's delivery. White Sox may have the fix for him to see that comp come to realization. Which would absolutely suck. But continues to show Milw's player development lacking for premium talents.
  14. If it's a mutual option, with 1mil buyout, wouldnt that mean Soria agrees and Brewers say no for 1mil. If Soria tests FA with his no, then Milw shouldnt be paying him 1mil. As to the deal, I'm okay with it. Really wanted Kodi to make it on this team because he was a HS SP draft pick. Something I want to see more often. Love his insane slider. The caveat though was hes a rule 5 40man crunch. I think there will be too many to hang on to and this way we get some IP by Soria vs nothing (Miguel Diaz anyone?)
  15. His last two trades were michael saunders and Adrien Sampson. While pitching better. He's not going to cost a top Brewers prospect. We had what? 25 C+ grade prospects to start the year? We can part with one or two. Also he's been around a 3.5ERA pitcher that can go 8ip on a great start, the last 3seasons. Rather good for 10-12 starts at the likely price
  16. Also, Happ I mentioned elsewhere seemed a decent target for the price I expected him to go for. Ponce or Medeiros would make sense, as would Supak or Diplan.
  17. Dude That got me thinking Brett Phillips to Yankees. To clarified just above. Had that Gray,Happ three way trade gut feeling for 30secs til I read eye blacks post
  18. I agree that he's a bit unlucky, but his BABIP is going to continue to remain on the higher end because he continues to go up and up in failing to limit hard contact and medium contact. Highest hard contact rate in his career. Pitchers park to Miller Park watch that HR rate jump to a career high here. I am in the camp that he doesn't become the Brewers best pitcher out there. Guerra and Chacin post better numbers than Archer does. Aside from the Ks(which is down for him) I'm staying away from him still at just about any cost. Let another team ruin their minors. Read an article on him that gave the info on hard contact, and it finished off later on well also Zach Wheeler is suggested as an option...you know since the Brewers had shown interest in him in the past. This to me is all click bait. You see the Brewers over taken by the Cubs in the division and the writer looks for possible fits(as we do) and of course easily, just tie the team to a former story and say it's an option the Brewers are looking at. End of story. Sonny Gray from the Yankees was even mentioned! Where's the JA Happ suggested pull? Francisco Liriano? These are more in line with whom I'd expect targeted by Stearns while maybe giving up a Trey Supak for. You've gotta be realistic with how every one of Hiura/Burnes/Peralta helps this team either already today or for 2019 on 6years of team control. It'd be different if say one of those three played CF or 1b since you have to feel safe on Cain/Aguilar making their addition to this team blocked. Go down the list from those 3 and you are dealing with non-headliner names at this moment. Or to put it, Other teams will easily outbid the Brewers best offer. So go for a pitcher who has some history on putting together a couple months of solid pitching in Happ or Liriano while not needing a headlining prospect to attain them.
  19. Schoop is mildly interesting. Control through next season maybe 2 if he sat in AAA for a month. You'd have the contract season for him to hope he builds on in what is his prime 27yr season. Last season he was worth a 5WAR. He's a guy that had higher expectations than what he's produced aside from last season. A gamble on him could be really beneficial while I'd expect a cost not including the top 5 of the team's prospects. Luis Ortiz could be a good get for them with a throw-in. Ortiz while young and talented, is continuing his trend of low IP. Maybe he'll reach 115? but under 100 while a rule 5 decision coming and needing protection....I feel he's expendable because a SP workload at the ML level must be another 2 years away for him. You've got Burnes and Peralta so he's blocked anyway for a period. What if they swapped Villar with Ortiz for Schoop?

  21. Looking at KC's current makeup, Brett Phillips would likely fill a need to the ML team. Then add Marcos Diplan. And a throw in 3rd if needed. What are we doing with Bickford these days?
  22. It's an overpay at Ortiz and Stokes honestly. 29, with a rather lacking history prior to last season and this year thus far. Mlb has this projection for him the remainder of the season: G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 62 253 33 69 102 16 1 5 25 18 0 47 10 5 .273 .324 .403 .727 Sure, then you have him for another 4? 5 seasons? but he's not a big hitter likely around .750 OPS with age decline in all of those years. He's not elite or even above average defensively. I can't find him even being a top 20 in the Royals system prior to advancing to the majors. His stats are on the high end being a 1month heater. He's not an 800 OPS hitter. In no form does his bat play as an OF(the Hiura takes over 2nd and he just moves to OF) Not a SS. Certainly not a 3b. He's a target to modestly if at all, improve 2b production. So a big no on sending these better prospects for a small if any improvement.
  23. Was Hader being warmed up as the crew scored a run? Another would mean a tie game thus Hader-time. But instead we got Z and likely his last pitches as a ML pitcher.
  24. Well when we face the Cubs later in season we will likely get that tv slot...except those dang afternoon games there.
