  1. I feel reading these proposals it's way too much, and not enough. Most aren't in the middle ground where I think it'd probably be right. I'd personally try hard to get Dubon in the trade. His light hitting just not big on when compared to Diaz. Arcia is obviously the real deal likely putting up over 12HRs a year with elite defense. I'd give away Brinson just because I don't want to send away Hader, Woodruff, or Ortiz. Toss in a Diplan or Peralta SP and call it a day. You could do that whole PTBNL....which I really like based on the results for a guy who is so risky. Maybe you include that ptbnl on likes of Gatewood, Harrison, Clark, Ponce...Kirby? Give both sides a longer look on that list as well as how well Gray performs for Milwaukee.
  2. I like the list of guys Jaylyn posted. I'd take Phillips and Bickford and switch with Harrison and Cody Ponce. That's 11 guys. In terms of Gatewood/Harrison/Diaz/Peralta the numbers with improvement I don't want to be wrong on when waiting say 1 more year on them can give a clearer picture on them. Phillips and Bickford were at that point coming in to this season. I like the Mav, but he Ks too much with numbers that are going to be favorable in Colorado. In Bickford, we crapped out with his suspension. I feel like the team's top prospects need to play for us vs being traded for a rental/less controlled piece. Yeah you can't hold on to all of them and the draft shown how that strategy works with HS picks after the 10th round aplenty. There are still talents that can be traded for a piece that will help this club. Just need to be smart and consider whom you'd target, make your willing offer and stick to it. As to the drafting discussion...I think it is amazing how poor the Brewers scouts are...sorry if I'm offending any lurkers...when it comes to pitchers. Suck it up!! Geez, I need 10min of tape on guys and have picked a high percentage of winners compared to losers. Just don't get how they can't figure it out on their collective experienced minds. You do this for a living...How can I watch 10-15mins of video and determine Ortiz was going to be good. Called Kolby Allard the best of Pitchers in 2015 draft and there he is 19 in AA since the season started. How in 20 years does this continue being a problem? It's not like the position players drafted since Braun have helped the team much. Bumgarner went after Laporta. Cole went after Lawrie...he didn't sign but 12picks higher maybe he would have. Screw 09 and 10. Etc, Etc, Etc.
  3. Awful lot of pitches for 2hits 1walk and only 5k.
  4. Oh, Sean Manaea....a 2013 draft pick...year of the Lohse Signing...Aaron Judge, Corey Kneble, Tim Anderson, Manaea, Arroyo....Yep this class is starting to show it's production Brewers took Lohse for....and the Cardinals pick of Rob Kaminsky...chimed in a lot for Milw prior to Lohse's signing, is at AA and looking solid to become a starter some day. I hope we can stay away and get the Cubs to trade for Gray....Baez and Schwarber with The Cubs last top 100 for Gray and Khris Davis.
  5. Was supposed to be under the radar movies to see. Being considered one of the best alltime these days isnt of that ilk.
  6. Looking back at Game Logs and 2016 Happ's ERA never went above 3.70 and finished at 3.18 in 195IP. 12 of 32 GS went 7IP or more. Has postseason experience....why look elsewhere?
  7. Still just on board with JA Happ trade if we can't get by with Woodruff. Nothing else really excites me without some work on salary or a lower prospect tradeaway. Happ has his stretches while not being terrible in other stretches. Modest salary hit with an offseason to maybe trade him for 80 cents on the dollar you spent renting him.
  8. Thinking on if Baez can play SS Happ moves to 2b and Zobrist sits in OF....or maybe Happ with Schwarber keeping the middle infield intact.
  9. Was a terrible contract to start with. Glad that this saga will be over. Hanley Ramirez and Panda same offseason if I remember correctly. Lol.
  10. Schwarber could be a DH/1b for Oakland. What if the Cubs returned Russell and Schwarber for Gray? All things considered The Cubs could be dealing away their troubled promising players and trade Gray this offseason for something not so troubling. Dies Oakland have an old 2b or SS to pass on with the trade? Itd be like us sending Escobar for Yuni.
  11. A year ago, they had the high hopes of Baez, Russell, Schwarber, Gleyber Torres, Eloy Jimenez, ian Happ, and that OF I cant think of creating a juggernaut of an offense. They hit on Bryant, but the concerns for Bryant with Ks, that happened to Baez. Traded away Torres, Jimenez, and that OF. Schwarber's terrible season....Cubs went from like 3-6WAR position players to Zobrist and Hayward mistake signings, no future super produces beyond Bryzzo. The pitching was always concerned for. The way I seen the Cubs pitching last season is equivalent to the pitching we're getting from Nelson and Anderson. Hendriks/Lackey weren't supposed to be that good in 16. Arrieta partially. They won a WS on that backs off Chapman acquiring. And those pitchers. Their rebuild went too fast because of Arrieta and Hendriks. Theo has made abrupt moves for the immediate and its going to end the Cubs rebuilt "dynasty" far sooner than it should.
  12. Was going to say on the McCalvy blurp that Webb may be headed to the Majors is promising to maybe replace Torres...wound up being Blazek. Calling up Phillips, I think Broxton and Phillips are going to find a platoon down the stretch, Maybe not as much as starting but in terms of late inning PH, double move type. The idea that Calvy's blurp might mean Hader was on the trade move made no sense. Hader is a huge addition to the Bullpen. His production has a lot to do with the Bullpen's solid run of late. With his latest gem a glimpse of what's to come. But what if...Hader's 3.1 outing leads to him being the 5th starter, at least for now until Woodruff returns or til the Trade Deadline, if he happens to be one that is moved? I like the move considering the k/bb ratio. It's only been stated like 500 times this season walking the first batter is never a good start.
  13. Yes and no on Theo. The International signing period has changed so no more exploiting that. Then you have through the draft. Well if your producing WS teams youre looking at 26th and worse. Then if you're in need of buying your teams problems, well if those players were QO they are giving up that 1st or 2nd round pick. That leaves the only other option to improve the minors is through trades of your top players. While Ender may believe they have til 2021, I think 2019 will be their swan song and they fall off to when 2021 happens they are rebuilding.
  14. Youre crazy. Cubs didnt part with 3 top 60prospects. And a 4th top ten in their system.
  15. I'm surprised the 3rd piece wasnt better but look at whats left for the Cubs minors. Arrieta will be gone, Lackey,Lester, Hayward will be a year older. This immediately puts the Cubs feel like the Cardinals. Sprinters who'sfinish line is 100meters ahead. Milwaukee is sitting with a 4X400 relay if they stay true to the rebuild.
  16. I'm sure the Giants could make a move on Bumgarner and completely fix their minors by doing so, but they won't since they can improve their minors by trading Shark and Cueto, maybe even Pence. Bumgarner will just stay on the team and keep on winning for the Giants another 2 years, and maybe gain a deal beyond his current contract. As to what it'd take to get him. Gotta realize this is a 5WAR Starter with added WAR with his batting. For Peanuts. I'd think Bumgarner is in the Scherzer range of 7/210 if given a contract today. Arguably more. Brinson, Woodruff, Ortiz, add Dubon and a ptbnl. I don't think San Fran could really walk away from that offer....the ptbnl may actually be too much. They get 3 immediate needs filled in Brinson, Woodruff and Dubon and Ortiz went to High School just 200miles away from San Fran.
  17. On the Burnes dream, if he pitched 135innings last year, and put him in the bullpen the end of July. He'll have what? 118IP? if he goes 3 starts and 6IP each. Bullpen guys get maybe 3IP a week?. 9weeks left add 27IP or 145IP which is not exceeding what I'd imagine an innings limit would be. Maybe you could trade Burnes for Hader's role and ready Hader for SP down the stretch? But I dunno, Hader has been great aside from his walks. I think if his walks lowered like his wonderful 3IP relief he makes a case to look at Setup role with Knebel in closer role. Bump Barnes to 7th inning with Drake/Hughes as roll RP. I mean what if you are going Hader 4-5outs and Knebel 3-4outs come late season/Playoffs? The depth the Brewers possess can easily pull a double switch to avoid the Pitcher spot coming up in that 7th/8th at bat. This all really Hinges on Woodruff. He pitches well better than a #5 well I think that is enough. Only other spot I'm looking is Susac/Bandy/Vogt, getting the right #2 catcher down the stretch in September.
  18. I liked this format on the Derby for the most part. I just wish there were a way to have the HRs continue even when the competitor has beaten his opponent. Maybe vs having a prearranged draw. They do a blind draw and just hit HRs until they are out of time and find out after all 8 have hit when they draw if they've beaten their drawn opponent. And repeat this every round so batter #2 doesn't get a number to beat when up there. Bour was awesome and for him to drop because he faced Judge just a little Lame.
  19. Sonny is making over 3.5mil this year. Fairly basic arb rises, he'd probably staring at 6.5-7.6mil next season, and if it comes true we haven't seen the best of Sonny Gray, well you're looking at 11-13.5mil the final year, so in no way is he going to make less than 10mil the next 2 seasons....unless he's a complete piece of trash and pitches worse than Wily Peralta did...which is entirely possibly. That's why I'd never target Gray in a trade because he just may be a waiver wire pitcher within 1 year for the money he's going to get being just a 4ERA pitcher.
  20. Gotta Love having to send our last 2 1st rd picks and more and still not being enough for a guy we didnt pick twice in 2012.
  21. Cause you are assuming the future with the apple cart will be much better. People say it is too soon, but what if this becomes a decent shot? What if Santana isn't for real? What if Shaw is the next Villar? What if Nelson/Anderson go back to mediocre pitchers next year? Then next year we are a 75 win team and then then we fight with .500 the next... If you have a shot at the division you better make an effort to improve your team. Maybe you don't think we should trade major pieces for a Quintana, but a back end starter or bullpen arm is just as important for a team. The Cubs looked set up for many great teams and the season after winning it all they are flirting with a <.500 record at the deadline. People are already overly attached to our farm system when we have made a competitive team hardly touching it. We have plucked just a few players for from it and have 20+ legit prospects sitting down there. I doubt this is our best team we will have in our competitive window, but I'm not sure how many chances we will get to win the division and this is a good shot. And part of the reason they are having trouble could be the bodies of Jorge Soler, Gleybor Torres, Billy Mckinney, and Dan Vogelbach were traded away for rentals. Kyle Schwarber being horrendous, and maybe it's that the pitchers are exactly who we thought they were. Take 16 and add 17 stats and there you are, what they really should have been in 16. Now if we're dealing away some prospects for multiple years of control of a better player on the team, that's better than what the Cubs did. At his moment the Brewers just moved to 49-40 on the season with Hader having a lights out performance. I hope Woodruff gets the ball 2 times before the deadline and performs as well as you'd expect, so the team can just continue on having improved the Bullpen via just Hader, and the Rotation with Woodruff. Remember this guy throws up to 98MPH. That alone is going to gas hitters early on if he has any kind of halfway decent 2nd pitch. There still are August Waiver deals that could happen should we need something towards the end of season. It's getting really serious now as we hit 9games over .500. The ideas of non-wild cards has changed as we're at worst 5 games behind Arizona for 2nd best NL record and could be 4 if they lose tonight. It really is lame that Woodruff had his injury vs. starting, because the show me period is going to be a far less sample, than it could have been. I'm mixed either way with making a move and standing pat. The team's SP prospects, I'd hate to lose unless you found a Kirby/Bickford form in a deal with Position prospects being the headliners. It's only the 7th, this is going to be nerve racking!
  22. That last part wasnt directed at you, it was a mock of Steaens talking to the White Sox whoever their GM is (I dont know) and that GMs response to Stearns. my opinion that I dug through with either video or numbers yes, is slang for Dick. :p
  23. Its the Mets were talking here. So Santana, Brinson, Hader, Ortiz for Degrom. Maybe throw in the commitment of money owed to Bobby Bonilla to Milw.
  24. Harrison may be the Brewers best OF prospect. Id keep him under wraps unless his inclusion in a trade keeps Hader,Woodruff and Ortiz in the organization. Remember his draft writeup and athleticism had him around20 for 2015 draft, but his multisport left him with a longer ddevelopment expectation. Well, he's chugging away now like Gatewood. His growth and ceiling is higher than Ray and could surpass Brinson. (Expect to knocked at that but what is Brinson age to age stats/level) In terms of current OF depth. 3 starters each at ML level and AAA. Trading Brinson to gain Q or Gray is a hit the Brewers can take. What they cant take is 2 of their best SP prospects with the future behind them and feel good on that.
  25. Do you actually believe that each team reads BA's rankings? Each team has their own scouting department and evaluators. That's who they consult with and listen to. They think it's cool when their players are on the Top 100 list and that's where it ends for them. So what youre indicating is they read the lists.... If Im with the White Sox trading Q and want Ray, isnt arguing how he's no longer in top 100 on this list a win for my side by devaluing Ray since others have devalued him? Stearn: we'll offer Ray, Ortiz, and Clark for Q. White Sox: Ray doesnt suit our headline to trade Q and Luis Ortiz isnt a big enough headliner. 1 top 100 prospect isnt getting this deal done. Sorry youve drafted bad OFs the last 2 1st picks. They arent 1st round talents.
