Winning formula for completing "The Rebuild"
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
If you took the median of 2006 the age is 27. I cant believe Kershaw is 29 during last year? Edit Hed have been 28 for all of 16. So are there other ages wrong? Birthdays that happened September to now? -
Broxton is expendable? Sure for Quintana. Id add zach Davies and Bickford call it a day. Broxton must be near top 8CFs in Baseball. Looking close to a 20/40 speedy CF with OB skills. Do 5 of those CFs even exist in current MLB? The stats hes putting up is better than the overly rated Billy Hamilton. It's crazy to suggest him with 2 of our top 5 prospects. If Broxton were putting up these numbers in AAA hed be every bit as high or higher than Brinson is. Look Q is a fine pitcher, but hes not an Ace. Hes not CC Sabathia or Zach Grienke. Chris Sale. With all that hes done, has even even received Cy Young votes in any years? If I offered Broxton with Davies and Bickford. Please be GM for other teams and beat that? Id like to see 5teams with better proposals posted below. And explain the reasoning as GM this is a logical move to make.

Just by putting Wily in the pen the bullpen has been adjusted for a move toimprove not only it, but the SP. Great job. Let the month of May finish and 12games in to June finish to see the results and need for next adjustment. Using that 25th man to rotate through the Scahills and Cravy types.

Winning formula for completing "The Rebuild"
brewcrewdue80 replied to A Swing and A Drive's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
This isnt a winning formula to complete the rebuild. It may be the formula to ruin the franchise for another decade. At least with how you propose the lineup looks by 2020. Take the idea that a TOR pitcher to acquire needs to be 30ish based on 16's top guys and avg. Age. The Brewers can easily control SPs til the age of 30. You're talking 7years meaning they have to be called up before the age of 23 to not be 30 at the end of of team control. Isnt Hader already passed that? How close is Woodruff? We need a TOR pitcher at some point in this rebuild but this roster turnover you have by 2020 and the replacements of prospects many with worts so hard to believe they will all produce a winning offense currently. Essentially its reading Future Pitcher potential on a scale of 1-10 a 3. But a position prospect potential on same scale a 9. Choosing that the hitters will succeed but pitchers wont to make this formula a win on your argument. The fact you dont have Woodruff in the 2020 rotation when clearly at this point he's #1 of the pitching prospects to become a starter disproves this idea. The winning formula is already in effect just based on the results in Stearns 1st two years. Just trust there will be a move made that acquires the need atop the rotation. It obviously was made for 1st and 3b this offseason making a glaring weakness a strength immediately. -
Oh come on. 3 top 30s for Q? What team is remotely offering something that has two top 30s. Arcia hasnt even completed his first full 162 games and we want to trade that top 10 prospect already? Such a joke. Hey he's not beating Carlos Correa with the bat so he sucks. Lets trade him. Villar too, he sucks. Santana too he sucks. Broxton, he sucks. Go find a Unicorn because now that we have batters who are grouping around .800OPS with the bat, it isn't .950OPS so we should move on from them? Oh my gosh, they make a few errors having played less than 2seasons of baseball. Because Rickie Weeks was a gold glove right? Yuni B certainly? Aramis Ramirez? How many dpes Braun have? The standards I read here for so many players are ridiculous! We're in 1st place with these guys being on the field and at the plate. Take up fandom of the Tigers or Whire Sox. Find me a 25man roster that your happy with filled with Mike Trouts and Clayton Kershaws. Youre always going to be upset with every player that takes the field. 3and2 this isnt fully directly at you. Just reading far too many posts to trade essentially everyone. 1 and done gotta move on. Please list where you are ranking the Brewers position players compared to the starters of the other 29teams. I promise you not a single one is 30th. Not a single one is 25th. Keep climbing the ladder and realize how good these guys are. Not a single one of them is a FA in 3years. We've got one of the best minor League systems in Baseball at the moment, if not the best. You dont have to put 3 top 100 in every offer to get a good ML player. It took Lucroy+Jeffress to get only 2 from the Rangers. Our top 100s are in the top 80 and climbing. This isnt a Peralta/Nelson/Thornburg #1 Brewers prospect around 85 with this group. Im just going to end rant.

Reds offer Cozart and Storen
brewcrewdue80 replied to ebmackenzie's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Haha. Yeah Stearns waves off Mark A's demand with an eyeroll and reminder who's responsible for this team being here Year 2 of a 5year rebuild. -
That's just a function of the Brewers playing more games than other teams. Scheduling quirk combined with fewer rainouts. The Brewers have played 5 more games than some teams. If you want an accurate measuring stick of where we stand pitching wise, I'd suggest looking at ERA or more advanced metrics, not runs allowed. Well consdering the start of the season and the multiple Errors. ERA doesnt attribute Unearned runs. And I get we've played more games but runs pg avg I recall was in the same range. This really blows to be without a computer as I can't see these stats with my phone w/o these sites bugging it out and crashing. Now what about the situation where we're sitting in first like now. Stearns has to be a buyer wouldnt he? How would he explain post deadline not doing a thing to help a roster sitting in 1st?

Currently that stands as 0. No guarantee any of these Pitchers will ever reach Quintana level. Look at whats going on with the Mets. They had 4 legits on their roster the World Series appearance. Now its 1 with 1 struggling and 2 injured. You cant have enough pitching. And certainly that applies to deadline deals. With monster trading to acquire the pitching over a batter. See us with CC Sabathia vs Geraldo Parra. And with how well Stearns and his group have been doing in trades, Id love that ability if needed down the road. -
Heres where I'm breaking it down to. The longer we hold on promoting Woodruff/Hader to tge bullpen to be potentially the help we need, the more likely we watch at least 2 of our top 100s address a need in pitching. Gotta move on this roster situation or hope Stearns is extremely patient to ignore the crowd whispers, Melvin whispers, Mark A. whispers to improve the pitching via a trade. Every week this team's pitching staff ranks in bottom 5 while offense is top 5 will increase tge stress to do something he seems unwilling to do whether hes in the right doing so or not. Draft day a 1st pick Pitcher may delay some of the rumblings. I dont understand how Jorge Lopez isnt starting to at least show an attempt to help this Rotation
-
Hader is one of the guys we will have step in to the bullpen. Helping the team will make him a non trade guy. Woodruff in rotation as well. A trade for Q starts at Brinson. Youd probably then give up Ortiz(ouch), 1 of Bickford-Diplan-Freddy Peralta-Lopez, one wild card depending on the previous 1 taken. Supak-Feliciano-Lara-Cordell. Theres no way we get through a Q deal without parting with 2 pitchers in our minors. If Hader and Woodruff are helping this team Ortiz falls on the grenade as 1st Pitcher to offer which makes a lot of sense because he's looking at posting Q numbers. After Ortiz pitcher 2 is sorta who do the Sox like? Same with the 4th piece. If theres one. Im not sure Id give a 4th if its Brinson, Ortiz, and Diplan. About Sonny Gray. He had Ace appeal. Dropped to a #4. Is under-sized proving to that wart on draft day questions. Itd be terrible to offer more than 1 top 100 for him with the depth we could add. Hes such a wildcard currently trending down, he's not a fixer worth wasting for this team in a rebuilding year. Not like Quintana who offers solidity atop the rotation. With the Sox in a rebuild year. You could probably send off Nelson, Anderson, or Peralta to fill out the loss of Q for innings eating. Peralta #1 on that idea, if hes still on the team at this point.
-
Well, Braun probably dictates a bunch of this. If hes a certainty to be on the team The OF becomes crowded in depth, you have to move somebody. I mean that's been the point Im argued with the last 2 drafts. BPA. When it becomes a problem you trade your area of depth. So Id hope Ray or Clark are used for a SP. That proves the BPAs right and my impatience and idea on drafting wrong. Id say untouchables are Hader, Woodruff, Ortiz, Diplan, Erceg, Harrison, Gatewood, Diaz of course. At about that point Im game for top OF headlining a deal that acquires a Pitcher with at least 2more years of control beyond '17. Theres probably 3-5 more names I'd list untouchable when they are brought up, but Im going off top of my head before coffee. With Braun playing 120-135games. The 4th OF will get a bit of playing time. Brinson, Cordell, Phillips all should do better than previous 4th OFs. We've got the quality depth, so trading at this deadline isnt out of the realm for a piece to help the ML roster. Cant hoard these guys yearly. Thats what the Rule 5 draft is for.

The 2017 MLB Draft Thread (#9 Pick + #34 & #46)
brewcrewdue80 replied to ZBTMP's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Since 08, here is the list of high school pitchers in the top 10 or the first one taken. Certainly several of them are decent pitchers once you get past their Tommy Johns (Wheeler, Taillon, Bundy) or prospects, but not exactly a list of franchise players. I’m on board if they go HS pitching but they need not limit their board. 08 (Wow this was a bad draft…) (15) Ethan Martin 09 Matt Hobgood Zach Wheeler Jacob Turner 10 Jameson Taillon Karsten Whitson 11 Dylan Bundy Archie Bradley 12 Max Fried 13 Kohl Stewart Trey Bell Phil Bickford 14 Brady Aiken Tyler Kolek 15 (14) Kolby Allard Well sucks to be those guys unless you got Taillon or Allard who is a future All Star. Kershaw, Bumgarner. Look they are there. If we are going to fail yearly with the 1st round picks, may as well have it be the Raw, Highest upside HS arm. Because just hitting on one sets you up as a Franchise for 7 strong years. Hit on two and youre WS contenders so long as you dont trade them away. Its the fear of picking the worst HS pitcher atop the draft, that they slide to the late mid teens where arms like Kershaw and Bumgarner get picked. Jason Groome last year, will turn out the best HS pitcher of draft class since he dropped, watch. How many more decades do we sit here wishing we had pitching, a TOR Starter? Ben Sheets since I began watching Brewers Baseball is it. -

Don't recall who. But this was hashed as an idea. Combined with a must draft of Riley Pint. -

Matt Garza - Significant Trade Asset??
brewcrewdue80 replied to Jose Cardenal1's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
This is true. The longer he keeps looking a #3 the higher his return will be because that 5million option looks more and more worthwhile to pick up. He's still gotta keep toeing the rubber w/o injury. So theres a lot of time to pass before really getting excited about him. -
Talk about over reaction.. Ray below the Brewers top 20?... looking at your post history.. you are the definition of over reaction and being clueless.. look at his numbers, not only have they gotten worse every year, but so has his fastball velocity.. if you are going to make a trade for a pitcher. Go after one of the Rays pitchers that you have the same length of control and dont have to deal with the locker room cancer... Making a trade for a one card wild card game is useless and defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do.. stay the course and if you make the wild card its gravy.. Nope not over-reacting. I stand by that Ray below the Brewers top 20. I called this on Tyrone Taylor when he was #1/2 a few years back. The cream of the crop who disappointed last year are producing this year. Harrison, Gatewood et al. Ive touted from the beginning his ceiling on his tools just arent comparable to other prospects the Brewers have. Coming out of college, he's older than a number of the guys drafted in 14. Every month hes out there not putting up an eye popping number is a month for younger guys to surpass him byjust looking improved. I also stand behind what Harvey will command from the Mets. I may drop the level of headliner by 15-30 spots in top 100 ranking since his velocity is down that I was misinformed on. He just needs a few starts june/july that look good like his first starts to this season. He's not making enough to be a salary relief. He is more than a rental. The Mets aren't in heavy need to remove him from the team. They have starters on the DL. If you want him you gotta pay to take him. Harvey can easily be traded in the offseason giving him time to improve his stock Edit. And wow. In 109 PAs Ray has 0HRs. A low 600s OPS 33ks or 30% to 9 walks. Yeah. He's disappointing to me.

I wouldnt be surprised if its Susac that gets traded and Pina/Bandy stick around. Seen somewhere someone exclaim the amount of thrown out at 2nd picking off a too far off the base runner, being than ever seen for a season. I agree both arent just doing it at the plate, but with their arms. If Feliciano is in A ball. 3years of this I certainly can stomach. I said at beginning of season Susac could be the winner out of the three catching Hader and Woodruff. If either of those two command Susac be their personal catcher he may wind up sticking with Milw longer than Pina or Bandy. If that's not happening, I'd look for a team to take Susac with Stearns being stearn on not trading Pina/Bandy.

The 2017 MLB Draft Thread (#9 Pick + #34 & #46)
brewcrewdue80 replied to ZBTMP's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Taking HS pitchers their ranking on Baseball America's top 200 Id want the first three picks to come from these names only. I wish I could sit and watch video like i did in '15 to pick the top I liked. My favorites are excelling Note Pint and Groome were the two favorites last year and Groome slid down. So dont let Gore escape your minds. 1 Hunter Greene RHP/SS Notre Dame HS, Sherman Oaks, Calif. 4 MacKenzie Gore LHP Whiteville (N.C.) HS 12 Shane Baz RHP Concordia Lutheran HS, Tomball, Texas 14 DL Hall LHP Valdosta (Ga.) HS 15 Sam Carlson RHP Burnsville (Minn.) HS 22 Matt Sauer RHP Ernest Righetti HS, Santa Maria, Calif. 27 Blayne Enlow RHP St. Amant (La.) HS 28 Trevor Rogers LHP Carlsbad (N.M.) HS 35 Hans Crouse RHP Dana Hills HS Calif. 37 Tanner Burns RHP Decatur (Ala.) HS 45 Hagen Danner RHP/C Huntington Beach (Calif.) HS 47 Michael Mercado RHP Westview HS, San Diego Calif. 48 Steven Jennings RHP Dekalb County HS, Smithville, Tenn. 51 Matt Tabor RHP Milton (Mass.) Van Eyk RHP Steinbrenner HS, Lutz, Fla. 130 Logan Allen LHP University HS, Orange City, Fla. 135 AJ Labas RHP Trinity Christian Academy, Jacksonville, Fla. 142 Seth Lonsway LHP Celina (Ohio) HS 150 Caleb Sloan RHP Regis Jesuit HS, Aurora, Colo. 163 Jack Leftwich RHP TNXL Fla. 173 Mitchell Stone LHP Deer Creek HS, Edmond, Okla. Okla. 175 Justin Bullock RHP South Granville HS, Creedmoor, N.C. 176 Joe Lancellotti RHP Penn Charter, Philadelphia Pa. 183 Nick Storz RHP/1B Poly Prep Country Day School, Brooklyn, N.Y. 193 Kevin Abel RHP Madison HS, San Diego Calif. Edit Add. I'd take 6'1-6'5 in higher consideration vs shorter or taller. 6'2-6'4 are especially looked at. I know Ill get creamed with the idea, but reality is trading for these guys next year and beyond because we failed to draft them isnt as likely because the Brewers are filling up so young with team control. That Lucroy, Jeffress, Thornburg arent sitting on this team with 1-2years of team control
