  1. Think this is a poor deal for Seattle. Very solid Batting production from Saunders given away for a back end true #5SP to maybe Spot Starter? Seriously, if Milw had Happ. Is he even remotely in the conversation to start games for Milw? The AL West is just helping Toronto jump to powerhouse status. Who wants to face that lineup? Not only did Seattle give up the better player they took on more salary doing so! HA! Such a joke move for them to do.
  2. BrewBalls. Why add Lopez to acquire Niese? Segura should be worth Niese alone. The guy screams avg at best in a Pitchers Division. Move him to the hitters division of the Central and his 3.8ish ERA probably climbs above 4 due to the additional HRs added alone. Then you owe the guy 9mil plus 10 and 11 if you pick up the options(sounds so much like acquiring another Yo Gallardo 2013) Man looking at Niese Gamelogs of last year. Guy had a dream season pitching in Citi and almost exclusively at typical Pitchers parks. @LAA-#24, @Phi-#11, @Mia-#18, @Wash-#20, @Phi-#11, @SFG-#21, @Stl-#25, @Mia-#18, @Pitt-#30, @Sea-#29, @Mil-#2,@Wash-#20, @Phi-#11, @LAD-#28, @Mia-#18, @Atl-#17. Home Games at Citi rank #27 So 4 games out of his 30starts had him face off in Batters ballparks ranked higher than #17. And Philly was a terrible team last season Marlon Byrd led the team with a .757OPS. In Milw 5ip 3Runs. fwiw. The Philly games: 3 GS 22IP-5ERs He may be consistent but he's just a #3 SP at best. No way is he worth the team passing on Segura and Lopez for an expensive #3 who's career is based on pitching in weak division and great Pitcher ballparks. If the guy had a K/9 rate at or above 9 it would make sense but he doesn't. He is Yo Gallardo today likely with a little less talent. The younger prospects you get in return for Lohse or Gallardo are negated by the loss of Segura and Lopez. It comes to being essentially the same team give or take a win or two depending on the years Cabrera and Segura post. I guess you add a Lefty in the rotation but still. not a fan of the move.
  3. Let's see. Toronto just saved some salary space sending Happ and acquiring Saunders. Wonder just how much they'll offer EC to play 2b for them while backing up the oft-injured Reyes? I just believe a team can offer a starting job(Justin Smoak) and that's going to be the defining equation. Maybe his agent can talk him in to the fact that playing 2b/SS everyday switching as the Platoon deems will add value if say, Defensive Metrics show him to be exceptional at 2b with a Bat that in the current state of MLB for a 2b is more suitable to increase $$$. SSs are growing on trees it's going to be hard not having a very solid SS in 2 years time across MLB.
  4. I just wonder if Cabrera's performance was really a result of PEDs and so SD came to the conclusion the need to dump him. Also, they are aggressively attempting to trade Grandal another PED suspended player. (I feel like there was another Padre on the biogenesis list can't think of currently) Anyway, Makes sense for Milw to sign him to be a Backup, But again, like Medlen/Beachy he's gotta be looking for an every day spot first. Toronto king of Scrapheap pickups, wouldn't giving Cabrera a shot at every day 2b make sense? The Yankees need a Jeter replacement no? How could EC ignore that opportunity for an everyday job? Again, I'd love to see him signed given a backup shot, I just believe a player of his caliber and potential will find an everyday job that Milw likely doesn't stand to offer. Im still really shocked the Padres didn't tender him a contract. He couldn't have been any more than 5mil in Arb? Does San Diego really need to save 1-3mil on what Cabrera offers? Couldn't they have tendered him a contract and just trade him this month? Get something for him? Let's say Milw would have wanted him from SD to be a backup. Couldn't they have gotten a Kyle Wren or Michael Reed for him? If not better from another team?
  5. Gotta say, many names non-tendered that would make some sense signing. Blanks, Beckham, Everth Cabrera?! Even Mayberry. I'll be surprised if the Brewers FO isn't in on one of these non-tenders
  6. Hey, I know all about Lohse/Gallardo. I've campaigned to trade one or both of them over and over. I just feel that it won't happen. They essentially make up the team's #1/#2 SPs Garza being #3 #4/5 being those other 3. So to me I feel the Front office views them as the pieces locked in Yo/Lohse/Garza for 2015. By stuffed I mean in the SP department and your 8 other every day starting position players. They all seem to have a lock on their jobs for 2015. If Yo/Lohse/Garza are the team's #1/2/3 if you're making moves to improve the team's chances for 2015 in the SP department it's going to come from Peralta/Fiers/Nelson being traded away. Which removes your cheap cost controlled SPs for 2016 after Lohse/Gallardo depart. I believe almost all of us here are willing to trade Lohse or Gallardo so long as the return is a win. I just don't see the FO moving them unfortunately and by not moving them, you really can't make much in the way of changes to this Stuffed roster. The Starting 5 are spoken for. 1b/2b/ss/3b/Rf/LF/CF and C all are spoken for with Starters. And being said, as mentioned, Medlen and Beachy are only going to sign to a team that promises a Starting Pitching Slot for them. That's 2 of Peralta/Fiers/Nelson that have to be moved in the to Bullpen to accomodate them. In Beachy's case I believe I read he won't be ready for Opening day. Too much risk involved with this roster to sign and expect to count on him for this season while what I believe would mean moving 1 of Peralta/Fiers/Nelson to alleviate the crowded SPs in 2015. It would be like the Mets situation looking to unload Niese/Gee/ and Colon. So you unload Peralta or Nelson(guessing Fiers dominant performances leave him as not trading) And what do you seek in return? Again the way the roster is made up, it would likely be someone to help in 2015. Biggest upgrades would be Gennett/Davis/Segura/ and Lind. My one target if I had to conjure up this would be Peralta+Gennett to Cleveland for Jason Kipnis and Kyle Crockett what appears to be a young LH RP specialist with maybe more to offer. You acquire a safer LH everyday 2b who has a better than 10% BB rate more Power and speed than Gennett. Kipnis for whatever reason has a .704OPS at Home and a .767 OPS on the road. I just like his potential to bat like 2013 potentially better being in Miller Park. The Indians pick up a cheaper SP option and a so far actually better LH vs RH batter in Gennett than Kipnis only quite worse vs LH. That's the kind of move that would make a signing of Medlen or Beachy make sense.
  7. I don't think the Brewers will shed the money they will be offered on the FA market. Why wouldn't the Dodgers just offer Beachy a 3yr 21 mil contract on potential return? Or if they have to DFA him at this year's end...oh well less than 20mil lost. As to Medlen, I read he was offered 5.8mil for 2015 but a discount on next season. Seems to me that he's more expensive than the Brewers have left in Payroll to spend. I am surprised they were non-tendered believing it to be dreaming that it would happen. The real truth is, if the Brewers were to consider signing either with SP slot intentions...You better start imagining life w/o 2 of these maybe 3: Peralta/Fiers/Nelson/Taylor/Arcia/Coulter/K.Davis/Parra/Gennett/Segura. Basically if you sign them, you've got to open a spot in the rotation to fit them. Seriously they aren't signing a deal that doesn't 100% certain provide them a Rotation place when they are healthy. Too much money for them to lose if used improperly to their potential talents. So signing 1 of them you have the intention they are better than Peralta or Fiers or Nelson. You instead take them and trade them along with someone or two to upgrade another position. Which seems even more less likely based on roster construction. I'm sitting here and looking at Milw's roster and don't see them doing anything more to it. bullpen and a Utility are the only things missing to upgrade for 2015. Now 2016 is a whole other thing, but as of now, the team is stuffed for 2015.
  8. .746 OPS is still better than Maldonado. I'll take Lucroy+Maldonado day over Sanchez/Lucroy or Maldonado. Would just rather see Lucroy spend a day away from Catcher from time to time(like the rare LH Starters faced) to save his body throughout the season.
  9. I'm going to think Hart sign another deal like last year's. Incentive laden. It'll be a Minor League contract that he can opt out of if he doesn't make a team's Starting day roster. Then he'll settle for the 1mil contract. But that other deal would be something minor League, makes the opening day roster is 1mil/ but has 2-5mil built in with incentives escalating with PAs/HRs. Agent wouldn't be getting him the best deal just to sign to play for 1 or even 1.5mil next season. may as well sign overseas for money like that if not more.
  10. Can the team just stick with Jason Rogers? Why cripple their 40man roster by adding a Vet that doesn't really add much improvement over someone who's on it already with more versatility? His splits last year a .746OPS? That's worthy to go for a Platoon? You realize his career years were playing for Miami...PED-Ville. Man is 31 and only represents a Platoon at 1b option who's not even a Positive WAR 1b on defense. Why can't the team just use Lucroy at 1b if they deem Lind not to be adequate vs that Lefty starter that day? Lind's Career OPS is .706 vs LH SP. Another sign that Leftys do better when given Starts vs Starters. When they only see PAs/ABs vs LH RPs they absolutely take a nose dive. Again Career OPS vs LH SPs .706..Let's go get Sanchez to be a platoon mate(ie start vs LHP) just to bat to the tune of .746OPS?
  11. It's just amazing how any kind of proposal by any of these types seem to believe Milw will absolutely cripple their franchise by getting the worst return everytime. Meanwhile the Dodgers get Segura and Paxton while unloading Kemp....Makes perfect sense. Such a joke.
  12. To the first graph, your equivalencies aren't remotely close. The 2nd and the supporting material is loaded with assumptions including Lawrie blossoming, staying healthy and not struggling with being wound too tight as well as a 5'9" A ball SS "seeming" like a major leaguer when the attrition rate for similar profiles is probably greater than 80 percent. Both those pitchers probably have a greater chance of being relievers and they might not both succeed at it. And another genius move? The guy is constantly churning players. There should be a long list somewhere at a tribute website. I made the mistake of posting LH'd Nelson vs. LH Fiers(Nolin) Graveman being equivalent to Nelson and Barreto being a younger version of Arcia. As to Lawrie Blossoming, he improved his HR/AB last season. He showed a strong ability with the bat his first taste as a rookie. He's 24 an age many just become Rookies. I believe in Talent and it getting better. Especially when they make it to MLB at such a young age and don't perform to super lofty expectations...but at the same time Lawrie hasn't flunked. He's been a Positive WAR player worth 7.9FWAR in his first 4 seasons. Steamer projects him as a 4WAR player next season. Do you not think my comparisons are correct because Arcia is #2 in team's prospect ranks and Nelson was #1 prior to joining the team? How about comparing their overall makeup? 93MPH FB GB inducing by Graveman. Fiers/Nolin being avg FBs but control them. And again Barreto/Arcia High contact/low K Solid fielding SS? by the stats/scout ratings. I'm giving Barreto the benefit of the doubt due to being considered the #1 international prospect in 2012.
  13. I just don't get how this procedure was put off if in less than 2months' time Braun's thumb is better than it has felt in long time? Why didn't this happen in May then? With Braun returning say after the AS Break or even in August?
  14. I would be okay with Stroman/Norris and Pompey for Gomez. No need to add Gallardo unless we could get another solid piece on top of those two. The Jays just acquired Donaldson w/o having to give up Stroman/Norris or Pompey. I don't think Gomez would equal two of them due to that. Honestly, Stroman would be about a Heads up trade for Gomez due to Pitcher value. We talked about Gomez for Archie Bradley in 2013 and how a GM for DBacks wouldn't do it, on someone unproven. Stroman has proven it now so in that regard, It's have to be Gomez+ to acquire Stroman. Norris goes where exactly for Milw in this trade? AAA? The the Staff in 2016 when Gallardo/Lohse leave right? Pompey would take Gomez' place with Parra to back up. Would be a huge decline for the 2015 team than the decline the A's just took. Melvin has done a terrible job of handcuffing himself with his Starters. We can drool about acquiring a Stroman or Norris but for 2015, you don't have a place for them wasting a year on their arm/elbow....well Stroman would waste a year of Fiers/Nelson's with 1 already on that track to begin with. The team can't make any SP prospect trade moves until they've traded away Lohse or Gallardo.
  15. I'm with Molitor fan on this one. You could compare Donaldson to Lawrie heads up. Lawrie at age 24 hit a career high 12HRs in 259ABs. Donaldson was spending a season in AAA of .783OPS his Age 25 season hitting 17HRs while there. When looking at a pure Today's numbers you think the A's got hosed and the Jays found a MVP type player for peanuts. But, if you continue with natural growth in prospects entering Prime Age to excel, Lawrie can reasonably meet Donaldson's MVP type output by 2016. Lawrie accumulated nearly 2WAR in just 70games last season. Donaldson played in 158games to get about 7.5WAR. You add 88games to Lawrie's numbers(at underachieving to expectations mind you) you're talking 4.5WAR. Again Lawrie underachieving for 158games=4.5WAR Donaldson Exceeding expectations=7.5WAR Meanwhile Oakland adds a #3 type SP to their staff with full team control, a 2013 8th rd drafted college arm who pitched through all levels to 2.3ERA in 200+IP and ascended to join the Jays Bullpen in 2014(will he start?Bullpen?) and then the #1 International rated prospect of 2012 I believe at SS(replaces Russell) In Brewer prospect terms/ML Roster this would be the equivalent of sending Fiers/LH'd Nelson/ Healthy 18yr old Arcia plus Lawrie for Donalson. Would you make that trade? From the A's standpoint, they may have acquired 2 SPs to use as #4/#5s a competent 3b with upside and then they got a SS who's going to crack the top 100 in prospect lists before the end of 2015. Seems like 4 contributing ML's for 1 ML. And in 2 or 3 years when the A's flip Lawrie or Nolin or Graveman for some young high upside prospects, The supposed headscratcher move this appears will come away as just another genius move that continues to supplement the ML team with ML players that are cheap. 1 for 4 turns to 3+Barreto for 6. Come 2018. Would Donaldson get you Barreto+6ML Prospects in his final year?
  16. Great move by them to add a supposed talent like Tomas. You're forgetting they lost Patrick Corbin And Archie Bradley to TJ I believe before the season even began. Mr never misses a start Bronson Arroyo got injured. Corbin and Bradley will be back helping boost that rotation. AJ Pollock missed a lot of games. Goldschmidt missed games. The team had been using Montero behind him. If Tomas truly has big Power, I'm thinking he slides behind Goldschmidt for some true protection. You're talking about adding that power bat behind someone who get OB at a .400 clip who didn't even have good protection to begin with. It makes Goldy better potentially. They have young infielders in Jake Lamb/Chris Owings who are better offensively than what they did in their time up in 2014. Honestly you look up and down the Dbacks lineup card and Tomas fits perfectly in Right Field. Something the team didn't have coming up in the Minors. C: Montero 1b:Goldy 2b:Hill(he of 800+OPS the 3 seasons prior to last season's .654) SS: Owings 3b: Lamb LF:Trumbo CF: Pollock RF: Tomas That's very solid imo potentially outright insane if Montero/Hill/Trumbo play up to their former abilities. Arz has those arms coming back+2 others to supplement potentially after Super 2 goes by. Their pitching isn't strong but it has strength coming...better upside than the Brewers have on their Roster/coming. 2015 I wouldn't expect a 81+ win team. But in 2016 they may be a 86+win team threat with talent producing.
  17. We have the ML talent when it comes to Bats to compare well with the Pitts/StL of the division. We don't have the Shut Down Ace like Pitts has and obviously not like StL has. People can laugh or just come to realize but the Cubs are going to have either a Bryant/Rizzo or Rizzo/bryant 3/4 in the lineup. Rizzo last year:.286/.386/.527=.913OPS That's exceptional...And Bryant? I'm going to go ahead and list a projection of him being a .295/.385/.520=.905OPS as a rookie. That'd amount to about 10% dropoff from his AAA OPS. Now I can probably assume Rizzo will get a rise as progression too so, you're looking at a .900OPS+.950OPS batters. Jorge Soler/Starlin Castro/Rizzo/Bryant With Almora/Russell to get added in due time. Baez/Alcantara are potential breakout hitters any season til it happens. If Braun doesn't revert back to 2012 ways. Who really on the Brewers offers 30HR in a season power? The Cubs look to have 2 and maybe 3rd if Baez gets more consistent at the plate. The Cubs look like the Weeks/Braun/Fielder/Hart Offensive juggernaut only to have real talent to surround it with in due time to make it more explosive that what we drooled about back then. And the Cubs should be that way, they tanked for so long and have had top 10 draft picks for how many seasons now? 4 straight years with a 5th coming this next draft. If the Cubs went out and Signed Scherzer and Lester their #1/#2 are better than Milw's #1/2 on paper. Now I'm just being a realist...when saying on paper I'm thinking if you simulate the game 100times the Cubs would win 60 of them and the Brewers 40. maybe 66/34 if Braun isn't 2012Braun. Those two aren't unbeatable its just I think Lohse/Garza/Gallardo are more Beatable when both lineups begin looking equal in projected offensive output. The Cubs HR ability giving them a bigger edge.
  18. Pete. I wish I could agree with you. The problem simply is why the team is falling behind the rest of the division is Stars. Pitts. has Cole/ the Harrison kid/ um Polanco?/ 3 SPs to see succeed or fail in Taillon/Glasnow/and Kingham and still a wondering Luis Heredia that has tools/needs grooming. Josh BellAustin Meadows/Reese Mcguire/Jacoby Jones upside Batting talent to supplement them with. Like last season with Polanco/Harrison it would seem Pitts is in the midsts of adding 2 impact young players each season for the next 4 to 5 years. The Cubs equation is pretty well known. They are LOADED with batting talent. Kris Bryant looks to be someone Braun special maybe better. To mix that in with Castro/Rizzo in the lineup? Nevermind the other prospects being special, that is a tough lineup to get through. Then you take pitching in to account. They are in a big market with big money that can just buy that missing piece when they want. Not upside prospects you hope pitch to #2/#1 ability...But the Scherzers/Lesters out there who are #1s/#2s. StL. They lost quite a bit with Taveras' passing. That was to be a huge #1-#3 bat to add in the lineup. They have Heyward now but it cost them Miller and a future prospect. They also sent away Kelly for Lackey. No matter. What StL has is Pitchers with upside. Waino/Lynn/Martinez/Gonzales 2013 1st rd pick Rob Kaminsky(many a Brewerfan hope prior to Lohse signing) a high upside international SP in Alexander Reyes...I mean read these names...That would be equivalent to say Wily Peralta 6 times with 2 of them already being Ace status. Still others behind that in Flaherty/Weaver but I'll assume 2 flame out. That is flat out sick on their end for Pitching. Compete with that? The Brewers don't have a single Standout batter in their minors...not one Kyle Schwarber/Kris Bryant/Gregory Polanco/Josh Bell. These teams are going to beat Milw on Pitching with our lack of hitting until the Laras/Harrisons/Gatewoods move up to the Bigs. I'm not going to get concerned with the Reds future as they are pretty much on Milw's youth path/pace currently. But already the Brewers are 4th in the divsion in the outlook. A lot has to Break Milw's way over the next 3 years to keep pace with just average years from Stl/Pitts. And we can add the Cubs when they sign a Scherzer or other SPs that lead their Pitching. Brewers Avg Pitching staff isn't going to get it done. And Lohse/Gallardo are gone after this season. Adding the duo of Nelson/Fiers whichever owns #5 this year+Jungmann to the staff for 2016. Still looking at Peralta/Garza as #2 SP abilities. and then #3s in Fiers/Nelson/Jungmann. Or still Avg. Meanwhile StL will have an Ace/#2/#2/#2/#2upside for their rotation. Pitts will have Ace/#2upside/#2upside/#3 for their staff with MVP McCutchen/Polanco/Harrison candidates offensively. Top Line Talent the Brewers don't have it, and that means they have to win as a team with so much going right for them.
  19. Have you looked at Forbes money for MLB? Milw was #25 last season: http://www.forbes.com/teams/milwaukee-brewers/ At a 103million payroll and all the other expenses plus revenue it shows the team having earned 6.8mil then. So upping the team payroll to 110mil would be the max payroll it appears before the team is losing money. Boston Meanwhile came away with 25.3mil earnings while having a 186mil team payroll. They pull in 2.85mil fans yearly at $54 a ticket. Would indicate they could expand team payroll to 210mil before nearing a loss in revenue. And this is vs. Milw's ticket pricing at $24 per ticket So I'd imagine when the team spends 225mil or more, they'll just raise prices another $5@3mil=$15mil. Milw would have to achieve equal fan attendance today at a 20% ticket increase to raise prices $5 and add 14mil to their revenue overall. Think that would happen? Or would attendance drop to 2.2mil a loss of 600k fans(3mil in ticket sales) and that doesnt take in to effect what 600k fans spent at game/parking/merchandise. Mark A. isn't the only single individual to own the team. While Mark A. alone may be set for life in money. these other investors of his may not be able to handle the team losing money yearly to field a winning team....Im sure they didn't invest their money to do that, but to make money as any sound "investment" is meant to create. Supply/Demand. Could you imagine the Brewers avg ticket price at $54? do you think the team could draw even 1.5mil fans at that price?
  20. Don't get how schwarber is ranked so high. At least above Arcia. He's a Bat with slow/likely lacking at defense prospect. Catcher/OF and at some point 1b due to his sluggish ability in the field. I'd get it if this were an AL ranking but it's NL so he HAS to play the field in order to get to show off his bat. Anyway, Brewer names will start to show up in this top 20 with most of the top 10 likely being ML players to disqualify as prospects come next season. Arcia very well may climb in the top 3 considering.
  21. Seager was in for a 5mil-ish 1st yr of Arb so one could guess 10mil/17mil the following two years? Makes this a FA signing of approx. 4/68mil. Super good deal on Seattle's end. Considering that is less than HanRams/Sandovals at this year's prices not 3years from now prices. They are likely dealing with a 3.5-5WAR player long term to help protect Cano and maybe entice another Bat to join the lineup at some point.
  22. Agreed on that. Nava certainly reads that exact same profile. AAAA guy. Having Castillo and Betts, I believe JBJ/Cespedes and Bogaerts are trade fodder now. To land someone big. Cole Hamels. Jordan Zimmermann. Fister. Ross. Cashner. Walker. Justin Upton. Boston is going to have some kind of AllStars team.
  23. Ah, the Protection rules. So Boston gets two quality bats for their infield and give up 2nd and 3rd round selections for it. They can go after other QO players and keep it going down the line right? So may as well go sign 2 of the 4 SPs with a QO tag. Scherzer/Liriano/Shields/Santana. I imagine after that they'll trade away Cespedes/Jackie Bradley and Bogaerts. What MegaStar could they get for that haul? How about getting both Fister/Zimmerman. Maybe SD's Tyson Ross/Andrew Cashner? Big market teams are just showing how dominating they can be when failing for a year(trading away Lester/Lackey and whomever more) get to keep their 1st rd pick and then sign FAs with QOs and not seem to blink in doing so. Wonder when the Yankees will get on board with this strategy? Top 10 pick/World Series/Top 10 pick...World Series? And it doesn't matter how poor a team they are, they're going to sell tickets yearly. Red Sox could probably go full Loria and sell off everyone they signed if it doesn't work this season and still pull in 2.85mil+ attendance. Only to watch that 2016 tanking land them another top 10 pick and 4-5more FA signings Full on reload. Milwaukee can't compete in MLB anymore. The money is too much. Boston eclipsed the 60mil in team payroll in 1999 followed by nearly 80mil in 2000 and eclipsing 100mil at 110mil in 2001. Read that. in 1998 58mil had been Boston's highest team Payroll. in 2015 180+mil isn't out of the question. 16years to triple a big market's payroll. In 1999 Milw had a team payroll of 43.5mil only 13mil and change behind Boston. Come 2015 they'll be 65-75mil behind Boston. More behind than what Boston's Team payroll was in 1999. And again QOs, don't affect Boston extending them. If they had ARam/Lohse/Gallardo on the books I'd bet they offered all 3 a QO after 2015. Overpaying for 1 year is worth the lottery ticket value if a team signed them. The 28th to 34th Sandwhich QO picks last year's slot value ranged from 1.65mil-1.815mil. So something to consider when extending the QO that 15mil price tag I'd see it more as a 13mil pricetag due to the money that can be added to the draft picks value. And as a big market team, lets just drool if they happen to hit on that draft pick. How they're looking at a 6year team controlled player at likely less than 50mil over that span. How much more flexible they get to be having a cheap player and get to spend the extras on more FAs. It's going to take an under 3.6ERA year from Gallardo imo in order to offer him the QO. ARam isn't getting a QO. Lohse, likely would have to pitch to under 3.1ERA to even consider it. and that's not likely. The Brewers are just continuing to get screwed since the CC/Texiera debacle.
  24. You do realize that Jackson has a higher WAR than Gomez through age 27? I'd expect 3WAR from him. With him still having the upside to be 5-6WAR as was the case in his early years. So basically looking at a 1WAR dropoff on expectations. 2-3WAR dropoff on Best of seasons between the two. Meanwhile you have what looks to be a 4WAR or more 1b/3b coming to your high minors. And a SP with Ace potential. If Seattle were to make that offer regardless where your team stands/appears to be with your moves prior to that trade offer, You take it. You're getting the better end of the deal. And I like most would think you make Lohse/Gallardo or even Peralta/Nelson available in trade to upgrade another position. Could you pry Daniel Murphy from the Mets for say Gennett and Nelson? Making up for the loss of Gomez with the added 2b skills? and For those who are going to argue great for 2015 not for 2016. Arcia or Segura will end up playing 2b in 2016 with the move. Rivera being the utility backup to both. Murphy is certainly a quality everyday 2b whereas many argue Gennett would be terrible facing leftys. Note:Murphy vs Leftys last season: .695OPS But vs. LH SP: .839OPS Which again I argue that Gennett vs. LH SP would be fine. Murphy vs LH RPs: 44PAs 6-39 .153/.214/.153=.367OPS If Murphy sat vs LH SPs and only had appearances vs. LH relievers. He'd be a Platoon only 2b right? You would never want to have a guy who hit .367OPS vs Lefties start against them correct? Ignoring good hitters getting better the more times they see a pitcher? .839OPS vs LH Starters in 25games started.
  25. I'd do that move honestly. DJ Peterson is the best piece in the deal. 1b/3b to plug likely to begin in 2016. Walker Would make the team make a move with Lohse/Gallardo/Peralta or Nelson. Jackson is the CF bridge the team would need to make it through 2015. With hopes Taylor can be ready to begin 2016. Walker is a legit top of the rotation potential that the team desperately needs. This kind of deal is the reason Gomez should be traded. There are 2 definite ML plugs to fill your roster for 1 who plugs CF. I'll take 2 for 5+seasons over 1 for 2 seasons. People are down on Jackson but isn't he a guy that lead the AL in BA 2 or 3 seasons ago? Or pretty close? He's a BABIP guy. One that had been worth over 4WAR in other years. Guy really messed up by sticking year to year vs ever signing an extension after his original breakouts. Let's say he has a 2012 year in 2015...You'd consider offering him a QO no? 5WAR CFs at the age of 28? Moving him to a hitters park maybe he cranks 12-15HRs helping add value. Oh and no he hit .300 in 2012 did carry a .322 avg at the 109th game in to the season.
