Seid's lasting mark
brewcrewdue80 replied to colbyjack's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Tell yourself that. It's true most 1st rounders end up being busts. But to start with the June 2000 draft 1st rd choices to have made some kind of meaningful impact for Milw and for StL. keep in mind StL highest pick has been 13th. 2002 #7 Prince Fielder 2003 #2 Rickie Weeks 2005 #5 Ryan Braun 2006 #16 Jeremy Jeffress 2008#32 Jake Odorizzi 2009#16 Brett Lawrie Picks as Busts otherwise: 9 StL 2003 #28 Daric Barton 2005 #28 Colby Rasmus 2006 #42 Chris Perez 2006 #30 Adam Ottovino 2007 #18 Pete Kozma 2008 #39 Lance Lynn 2009 #19 Shelby Miller 2011 #22 Kolten Wong 2012 #19 Michael Wacha 2013 #19 Marco Gonzales How about tossing in Brett Wallace/Clayton Mortenson since they became trade bait to land a stud Matt Holliday StL also has Stephen Piscotti/Rob Kaminsky/Tyrell Jenkins/ who have as good or higher potential than the Brewers best 1st rd draft choices not made in 2014 that are still in the minors. James Ramsey was used for Justin Masterson who would have been another 1st rd successful pick. Essentially 10 bad picks for them then. That would be 16/26 success rate with the highest choice 13th. To Milw's 8/20 Counting Haniger+Coulter. Keep in mind 8 picks by Milw were higher than 13 where 3 or the apparent 6 true successes came from. On average then Stl is hitting more than 1 draft pick a season with their 1st rd pick. To Milw's .62 a year. Weigh the overall draft all you want. But if Milw was remotely close to StL's success in 1st rd draft choices. You had better believe we'd have made the Playoffs this year instead of an epic collapse. Take away the big 3 and the team is 3/17 to 5/17 with 1st rd picks. So I understand why youre convinced majority of 1st rd picks are busts. Because Milw has Busted majority of them. Imagine how more true you'd sound if StL's 1st rd Success stories were removed from the equation. 16/26 in the last 13 drafts.? -
3B in 2015 if A-Ram not re-signed

If I'm ARam, I have zero issues if I happen to come up lame vs. a 2nd year contract that is a weaker value than what I'm worth today. He's a man who's made over 130mil in his career on salary alone. A 3 ACL torn Corey Hart coming off a completely missed season managed 6mil last year as a FA. Aramis has every reason to take the Brewers offer and go in to FA in 2016. The only reason to not take the offer is because they tell him he's getting a QO tag. Declining that may cost him not only the 15mil but being signed to a 1year deal worth under 14mil and then still having that same risk you propose. I'd actually think ARam would get a 2year deal worth 30mil in a non QO FA market with say a 9-12mil 3rd year option(2-3mil buyout) So many garbage contracts have been offered to players not in the same class as ARam in the last 2 offseasons. Shane Victorino, Cody Ross, Nick Swisher, Angel Pagan, Marco Scutaro, Jhonny Peralta, Carlos Beltran, Curtis Granderson, Carlos Ruiz Age didn't mean a thing. Nor did playing everyday count for anything. ARam has the history to back up a poor season for a team to take a chance and sign him for more money than one would think he's worth. It's going to be like us. and wondering why we didn't go out and just sign Morse or Morneau this last offseason. We just had to shell out a few extra million and our 1b problem wouldn't have been a problem this year. That's what is going to happen with ARam testing FA. A season like he had in 2012 is every bit worth the money to get him on your team. That kind of season will propel your team. He has that talent. In the AL they can DH him. And one can guess the added days off from the field will keep him healthier and his bat more potent. Anyway as I'm typing this the QO will be 15.3mil. So ARam has 14mil or 15.3mil or FA where if he's declining the guaranteed 14/15.3mil he must be hearing he can get a 2-3year deal worth 15mil or more per season. -

I read the Traderumors writeup on ARam, I also read the fan comments. Know who was barking in the comment section to sign ARam? Boston Red Sox fans. Who also happened to finish with a top 10 draft pick. Meaning ARam being signed by them would cost them a 2nd rd. pick. Top 10 protected signing ARam if QO's would be: Arizona(traded Prado...have a use for 3b) Houston(no chance) Colorado (no chance) Texas(no chance) Minnesota (not likely) Boston as mentioned Chicago White Sox (Could use him) Chicago Cubs(no Chance) Philadelphia (not likely) Cincinnati (no chance) Now back to Boston. They have a number of aging vets whose careers are coming to an end. As well as other contracts set to expire after 2015(especially if options aren't picked up) Boston could look at Baltimore's Nelson Cruz signing and how well that worked out and say ARam is the kind of signing we need to shore up the lineup. May be doubtful but just showing an example of a team ignoring the QO cost to sign ARam. Then of course you have the cost if say a team goes out and signs Shields/Scherzer with QO attached. Now the next signing costs their 2nd round pick...or 3rd if 1st was protected. How about Angels with the 31st pick? Best record in baseball, swept. Wouldn't be surprised if they went at say Scherzer/Shields. ARam could be an upgrade for 3b/DH. Come back to the protected picks and Texas. They could grow anxious with wasting Yu Darvish's best years. Sign one of the big 3 SPs in FA. which cost their 2nd rd pick. Meaning ARam would cost their 3rd rd pick, who could play 3b/mix DH with Beltre....both aging you get both bats in the lineup and give them rest out of the field. The problem to me herein lies with the 2/26mil suggest FA sign. He can get 14mil this year. The QO being 15mil and declining that? So to take a paycut to get 1 more year. Seems to me his best option is to agree to the mutual option or take the QO. I really don't see this getting to the QO declined compensation stage when signed. So this talk really is moot. -
I figured out the must have trade target for Milw this offseason. Plain and Simple Arismendy Alcantara from the Cubs. posted it in Gallardo's Major League topic. Switch Hitting 2b/SS. He's 22. Cubs have Baez,Russell, to promote in to their lineups with Castro blocking them at SS. Cubs played Alcantara in CF just to get him on their ML team. A place where he had 5Errors in 48games. Not a good sign to keep him in CF. So there in lies why the Cubs should move him. Rizzo-1b Baez/Russell 2b Castro SS and Bryant at 3b leaves him blocked long term. Send the Cubs Yo if they can't sign 2 of Lester/Shields/Scherzer giving them the SP depth they need for 2015 while having the opportunity to either extend Yo or QO him after 2015. If not Yo then Lohse. Either one to get a long term solution for 2b/SS.

Brewers to pick up Gallardo's 2015 option

WAR is an Accumulating Stat. 32 Starts will accumulate more vs. a SP with 8-18starts. Jose Fernandez had a 1.1WAR season in 8 starts. Far superior to Yo's if stretched to 32 starts. Gio Gonzalez had identical WAR in 5 less starts. Jorge Dela Rosa had identical WAR while having to pitch in Coors Field. Andrew Cashner 19Starts 1.9WAR. Hyun-Jin Ryu 1.9WAR in 26starts. Josh Beckett 1.9WAR in 20 starts. Tyler Matzek 1.9WAR in 19starts for Colorad. Vance Worley, Tsuyoshi Wada, Gerrit Cole, Jesse Hahn, Mat Latos, Cliff Lee, Gavin Floyd, Bronson Arroyo All NL only names that were on pace or ahead of pace with Yo's WAR value if they made 32Starts. 15 more names makes a 43rd in NL WAR which is identical to my 43rd in ERA if looking up non-qualified ERA SPs in the NL. Theres at least 6 more SP prospects who are looking to graduate to ML rotations in 2015 that would appear to be Yo's equal or better. I just see no reason to hang on to him for his pricetag. That QO after 2015 will likely fall in the 15.5-16.1mil range. Trade him while you can for some kind of future value now, vs. relying on that. Again, the upside isn't there anymore for Yo. He peaked a few years ago and has been declining for 2 seasons now. Why not talk with the Cubs. They are all-in to win 2015. See if that Magic turn scrubs in to SP ACEs will work with Yo. See if you can nab Arismendy Alcantara perfect Switch hitting 2b/SS to play every day platooning Gennett and Segura. Offer them up someone else (Davis,Thornburg,Smith,Henderson,Schafer?)if you can land their 1b prospect Dan Vogelbach which would solve 2 problem areas for a lengthy period of time. -

I'd be super happy with that deal! Davis+Fiers for 3years of Donaldson? Yes please! Move Braun back to LF and how about signing Norichika Aoki back to play RF? Bat Leadoff, grind out ABs vs. Swinging 1st pitches/K in 3-4pitches? Parra compliments Gomez/Braun for rest days. And even Aoki. I mean Dondaldson put up 8 and 7.4 BRWAR the last 2 seasons! No way Davis/Fiers can duplicate that WAR combined. It'd be an underpayment for Donaldson. Probably need to throw in a guy like Arcia or Taylor. And I'd do it. Taylor especially. Donaldson is exceeding his numbers in the Minors at the ML level. He's a STUD. The Brewers need a STUD to bat 3rd or 4th. Braun used to be it and he's either going to again, or be just good. If Braun returns to Stud status would imagine a Lucroy 2, Donaldson 3, Braun 4, Gomez 5 lineup. You're looking at 4 players Lucroy a 6WAR, Donaldon 8WAR, Braun 6WAR, and Gomez 5-7?WAR You're talking 25-27Wins above Replacement in 4 players. If Braun returns to form. With that WAR amount you're talking about starting with a 75-77win team if those 4 play together in a season. That's 1 Helluva Starting point! Thus why I'm all for it. With the Avg staff we have + those 4 there's a strong ability to contend next season. Find a 1b bat and the team is loaded. -
Brewers to pick up Gallardo's 2015 option

Well Yo ranks 21st in NL SP ERA of those that Qualified. Add Non-Qualifiers I count 43rd in ERA of NL Starters. Which then puts that 15 ranking as him being a bottom of a #3 SP Just above being a Top #4 SP. Now there's something to be said about making 32starts over 8-18 and beating Yo's ERA. But a number of SPs if healthy and not visiting Dr. Andrews would have beaten Yo's 21st ranking if they qualified. Now, I have a different idea of what's a #1, #2, #3 and so on it doesn't have to just be based on ERA. Sometimes Aces who can throw 110-120 pitches are left in a game that if had been tight would have been pulled. But instead to give tired bullpens rest they take a 6IP 1ER outing and leave them to give up 4Runs in the 7th inning for a rather pedestrian 7ip 5ER outing(6+ERA) Yo isn't that type. He's lucky if he's not approaching 110 pitches by the time he completes the 6th inning. Much less pitching in to the 8th inning or the elusive CG for him. Names of players with higher ERA than Yo that I'd take over Yo in a heartbeat: Wily Peralta, Zach Wheeler, Gio Gonzalez, Cliff Lee, Gerrit Cole, Mike Leake, and Homer Bailey So from 43 we're now approaching 50. Yo is what we expect a #3 SP. But he's never what we hoped he'd be which was a #2. Pitching 8 or 9innings at least an average of once a month. Yo is that High Floor, Low Ceiling SP at this point. And that is why we should trade him. He doesn't possess any more value than now. And him being removed from the rotation in a deal, his presence really won't be missed. Since his Great outings are 6IP 0ER or 7IP 1-2ER. Nelson has provided that so has Fiers. It'd be different to lose Yo if he had 8IP outings but he pitched in the 8th twice this year and once all of last year. Not one 9th inning pitch. He's just an average #3 to me, who's K/9 rate has fallen, and that is a red flag imo. He's on his way to being a #4. -

Let's look at his playoff record: 2002 lost to Eventual WS champs 4games to 1. 2003 Swept by WS runner up and payroll inflated Yankees 4-0 2004 Lost 3-1 to Yankees again 2006 Swept by Oakland a Series you could actually believe they should have been the favorites finally. 2009 No surprise here Swept vs a 103win Yankee team being an 87win playoff team. How about the fact the Twins even made the Postseason with their rotation that year? Nick Blackburn, Scott Baker, Francisco Liriano sporting a 5.8ERA, Glen Perkins/Kevin Slowey/Carl Pavano/ and Anthony Swarzak! 2010 Once again swept by Yankees Let's see Sabathia in Prime vs Liriano? Pettite vs. Pavano? Brian Duensing vs. Phil Hughes? Nevermind the 180+Million payroll of batters the Yankees likely had. Jeter/ARod/Texiera/Cano/Granderson In the article I read on ESPN Brian Dozier gave him praise and wanted him back 100% calling him the greatest baseball mind he's encountered. Yes they've had some "Teams" but they just never had a Rotation that was worthy to set them up to win Series vs. better teams. Small Marketed out of the Playoffs. His best chances with Santana was still during the live ball Read Steroids era/end of it. And his recent teams? Flat out no pitching. Blame it on their development in the minors I suppose or their drafting. But he hasn't been given a team built to contend like Roenicke has. This is the chance to pounce before other teams like Arizona nab him.
-
For God sake, please noooooooo. I'll take Dusty before that guy. Why not try and steal Paul Molitor off the Twins? You know he's going to get a shot pretty soon at managing a team...he would be a change of pace for us too, maybe his small ball abilities would transfer into our players. I think Molitor wants to coach the twins, not the Brewers. I think he will wait out that opportunity rather than to come back to Milwaukee. I still think he wants nothing to do with the Brewers organization... My thinking too on Molitor. I think he's destined to remain in that organization and may wind up with a higher up job than bench coach/manager when a spot opens. Here's a name to ask about to replace Roenicke if fired. Pat Listach? Bnet-rs mention Counsell as a suggestion, what of Listach? This tidbit from his wiki page: In 2008 Listach was honored as Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year by peers and league media representatives for leading the Iowa Cubs to an 83-59 record and a playoff appearance. A team that looking at the roster was led by Casey Mcgehee and Micah Hoffpauir offensively. Randy Wells and JR Mathes in Pitching. Yeah real lack of named talents. But somehow he made them a winning team. Why not take a look at him? He broke out his Rookie year in Baseball, Let's Break him in as a Rookie Manager!

Brewers to pick up Gallardo's 2015 option
brewcrewdue80 replied to Invader3K's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
"Yovani, we won't be picking up your option for next season. We appreciate everything you have done for our franchise and wish you all the success in the world wherever you may go." "But I had a good season. I'd love to stay in Milwaukee. I feel I can be a valuable pitcher for you going forward." "We have no doubt you will pitch well next year and for several more years to come. Frankly, it is your hitting that concerns us. You just haven't held up your end of the bargain at the plate, so we need to explore other options." "SCREW YOU! WHEN I COME BACK TO FACE YOU I'M GOING TO SACRIFICE BUNT DOWN YOUR THROAT!" You're missing the point. His Contract was signed with his added values as a Batter being a pitcher. It was also being based off Yo being a 200IP/200k type pitcher. He hasn't improved his numbers. He's now at 190IP K/9 below 7 in a year where batters are striking out at alarming rates. His ERA looks nice but his Fip is average. I don't believe he'd get 13mil in FA is my point. Garza in a weaker market with better numbers only got 12.5mil. You want to know what Gallardo's numbers are looking like? Ricky Nolasco's. Who got 4/48 in FA. Who has better Fip numbers than Gallardo but far worse ERA numbers. Not as long a track record, but the numbers Gallardo put up are numbers Nolasco put up in 2013. And a move to the AL? Nolasco became horrendous, something that I believe would befall Gallardo if he had to face a DH filled AL. Just suggesting that we have others to take his place at a far less price. And keeping him at 13mil is such a gamble to get poor results and still nothing for him when he departs. Remember he had 0 trade value in 2013. No owner wanted him at the deadline with whatever he was owed of his 7.75mil contract and having him for 11.25mil the next season. Without having to pick up his option. None. Now getting paid 13mil and no underlying numbers to suggest Gallardo is going to breakout with a better year in 2015 than his 3 previous years? Unless the team trades him this offseason, more than likely the Brewers are just going to watch him walk for nothing after 2015 because he damn sure isn't going to be worth a QO in 2016. -
Brewers to pick up Gallardo's 2015 option
brewcrewdue80 replied to Invader3K's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
1.7WAR in FA money is worth about 11mil? yes? So with his Best ERA season(but similar Fip of the 2 prior) Yo isn't worth the money on his best ERA season. He's definitely not worth having on the team next year for 13mil. Trade has to be coming for whatever you can get! -
Brewers to pick up Gallardo's 2015 option
brewcrewdue80 replied to Invader3K's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Melvin said at the time that he and Attanasio hadn't even talked about Ramirez yet. The Gallardo story is more believable though. Some people still seem to be thinking about player salaries and team budgets as if it were 2005. $13 million for a #2/3 type of starter like Gallardo is basically a bargain these days. ERA around 3.50, WHIP just under 1.3. He's not an ace, but you would think he was Jeff Suppan the way some in this thread are talking. His ERA is nice yes but this is now the third straight season, his Fip being essentially 3.9(3.94,3.89, and 3.94 again this year) I don't believe 3.94Fip is worth 13mil. add to it his horrendous Batting this year vs. what we've been accostumed from him? He's become stagnant as a Pitcher. There isn't any upside with him anymore, only downside. Ks were down more for 2nd straight season in what is the "Deadball" era. Allowed the most hits in a season ever in his career. There's just a lot of signals flashing "Caution" and like in 2013 vs 2014 his luck could result in him being near a 5ERA pitcher again. I hope he's traded away, this year's 3.5ERA may be a sell high we won't have the opportunity to take advantage of once 2015 begins.(sell them the QO tag option if they acquire Yo in the offseason hard! Your 1st rd compensation means we can ask for a 1st rd kind of Prospect in return!) -
I am thrilled to read Mark A.'s comments. I hope there are moves removing staff(Roenicke my choice to start) and/or removing Players via Trade. Let's face it, Roenicke's Bullpen usage sucked. His Baserunning management sucked. His Bunting was poorly timed. His Run on contact play was overused. His playing the infield in to save runs in the early innings vs. giving up the run for the easy out sucked. His lineup choices were perplexing quite often. His lack of fire I believe rubbed off on the team down the stretch. He's going to be gone. Because why is Mark A. mad about the team's meltdown? Missing the Playoffs cost him Revenue. It may have just been the revenue he needed to come out ahead for the season and share with his group. Now he has to go to them and tell them that revenue isn't coming. And that little hint of maybe taking a step back and what would sound like rebuilding? Next year's payroll could be slashed enough to make up for this year's missed profits. Let's think about what we have all said. We aren't going to support the team going to games with this same roster next season. 2.8mil fans this year and putting out the same product will not be 2.8mil next year. Mark A. knows this and his action will be to prepare for a 2.2-2.35mil attendance next season. Payroll imo will be around 75million. Which would mean dumping around 26mil from projections. No ARam, Trade Gomez, Trade Gallardo, Trade Broxton, Trade Lohse. 3 of those 5 would about do it. Non tender Estrada, Kinztler and potentially Parra. Melvin is safe. and the decisions he makes, moves/trades he does and then the effect of that on the field next season will determine if he's a goner in 2015 or stays. I am just looking forward to the moves, the answers to their Review being put out there. Who's at fault for this collapse? Behind the numbers. Cant's wait! 1.5months to the Winter Meetings!

2015 Brewers' 1st-Rd. Pick Speculation
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewcrewdue80's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
This is way to early to be talking about the draft right now a lot can happen between now and the draft unless you can predict who will under perform, who will impress some scouts, who will be injured, and if the Brewers will actually have a 1st round pick. Um, Last year's topic began July 4th. You chimed in your suggestions that day. Why the sudden 180 calling Sept 27th too early to be talking about the draft? We have our draft slot now at 16th...well 17th? after Houston drafts 2nd for not signing Aiken at #1 last year. The purpose of the thread is awareness. As someone mentioned after my post, most of the names I took from an article will likely not be around come 16th selection. Now I'm looking for any names that may be worth keeping a watch on. It's something that to me, I'm looking forward to. Based on current state of the team and within the division, I think the team is about to enter a 3year trend of sub .500 ball. Barring some great trade moves and awesome signings Pittsburgh/St Louis are taking 1-2 in the division next year and the Cubs look to be a strong 3 inching up to #1 in the years after. So Youth is where to find hope. New blood in the organization that someday may lead us back to being competitive. In 2015 who will that be? -
How do we turn this sad franchise around?
brewcrewdue80 replied to The stache's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Well don't know if this was mentioned somewhere else but the Brewers are already saying they have picked up Gallardo's 2015 13mil. option. I certainly hope that with Lohse, Garza, Fiers, Peralta, Nelson and now Gallardo that 1 of Lohse/Gallardo are traded this offseason. Maybe turning the team around? Can we pry Scott Van Slyke from LA Dodgers? to play 1b? -
Since the potential to make the Playoffs is over and the Brewers are pretty much locked in to either the 17th or 18th(can we really lose a tiebreaker to Toronto in B2B years?) pick for 2015. How about starting the 2015 1st rd pick speculation? Taken from an article Players that may be on the top of the 1st rd: High School Daz Cameron, OF, Eagles Landing HS, Ga.: The son of former big leaguer Mike, Cameron was one of the best players on the field at the Under Armour All-American Game … a year ago. He's athletic and toolsy, just like his dad was, with an exciting power-speed combination. Justin Hooper, LHP, De La Salle HS, Calif: In 2014, the top high school lefty hailed from San Diego. Next year, it could be the San Francisco Bay Area that can make that claim. Hooper is a 6-foot-6 lefty who's very athletic on the mound, with reports that he's up to the mid-90s with his fastball already. Ryan Johnson, OF, College Station HS, Texas: Johnson joined Cameron as underclassmen at the Under Armour All-American Game a year ago. The TCU commit has some serious potential with the bat. He has bat speed and raw power from the left side of the plate. Big and strong, Johnson has the offensive profile teams look for in corner outfielders. Brendan Rodgers, SS, Lake Mary HS, Fla.: The shortstop has bat speed and good raw power, especially for a middle infielder. He's a smooth and athletic infielder, with good hands and a solid arm, making the Florida State commit the best all-around high school shortstop in the class as of right now. Kyle Tucker, OF, H.B. Plant HS, Fla.: Tucker's older brother is Preston Tucker, currently the No. 20 prospect in the Astros' system. The Florida commit can flat out hit from the left side of the plate, with the chance to have decent power as well. He runs well and plays a solid center field, but it's his bat that lands him on this list. College Alex Bregman, SS, LSU: Taken in the 29th round of the 2012 Draft by the Red Sox, this New Mexico native went on to LSU and has continued to excel. Named the college freshman of the year by Baseball America in 2013, Bregman wasn't quite as productive in 2014, but he has all the tools in the box, maximized by tremendous instincts. Riley Ferrell, RHP, TCU: Serving as the closer for TCU, Ferrell has racked up 15 saves, including a win in Game 1 of the Horned Frogs' Super Regional team. He's consistently been in the upper-90s touching 98-99 mph with regularity. He couples it with a nasty upper-80s slider and has been virtually unhittable all year. Michael Matuella, RHP, Duke: Duke had a rare first-round pick in Marcus Stroman in 2012 and Matuella has the chance to join him. If everything continues to click, he could far surpass him as a potential top-of-the-Draft-type of college arm. He developed into a four-pitch starter with a mid-90s fastball, two distinct breaking balls and a changeup. Nathan Kirby, LHP, Virginia: Kirby dominated as the Friday starter for one of the best college programs in the country, helping Virginia reach the Super Regionals, a year after struggling a bit as a freshman. He carves up hitters with a 92-93 mph fastball and an outstanding power curve. His biggest improvement has been in developing an effective changeup to give him a very intriguing three-pitch mix. Carson Fulmer, RHP, Vanderbilt: Vandy has been cranking out first-round pitching in recent years and Fulmer seems headed in that direction as well. The 15th-round pick in 2012 pitched behind Tyler Beede after moving into the rotation in 2014 and should take the helm as the Friday starter in 2015, using his fastball, breaking ball and changeup to continue carving up the SEC. Would be cool to have Mike Cameron's son drafted. Go ahead with thoughts, add on names to look at.

Ok, Braun played a bad 3b. That was also 8! Years ago! I'll guarantee hes a better fielder today than 8years ago. It's Called Repetition! It's called being a Veteran. You're basing the decision he's going to be awful at fielding balls at 1b because 8years ago while a rookie he was bad at 3b? I get to watch golf Balls hit on a daily basis. 8years ago when I was 24 I couldn't predict how a ball would fly/land and carry distance much less if the ball would spin back when it hit the green, spin left, or spin right. Today, within moments after impact I know exactly where the ball will be without having to follow it land. I know if a ball just may spin back, or if it's going to spin right or left. How? Repetition. I've seen that same ball flight 1000s of times that I just know where it's going. He's not going to be as bad fielding 8years later at 1b vs. where he was at 3b! Braun has seen a baseball hit 1000s of times since he played 3b. Now, I'm not saying he's already got a Gold Glove 1b fielding ability, but honestly this fear of him being Worse? than Prince Fielder at 1b fielding? Come on!

This could be true. But the risk of injury a broken finger/hand, cracked rib, Concussion is there. Allowing Cardinal Pitchers to hit our batters 10times to 1 lets say means our hitters have 10times the risk of attaining those kind of injuries that may lead to a long DL stint. April 28th Brewers vs. Cardinals Brewers were 18-7 Game 1 of 3game set Carlos Gomez is hit by pitch in 6th along with ARam HBP in 6th. Top of 7th bases loaded ARam is hit by pitch again. Khris Davis drives in game winner in extras. Game 2 Lohse hits a PH G. Garcia Win 20-7 on the season. Game 3 Khris Davis(Mr GW 2 days earlier) in top of 8th inning in a 9-3 Cardinals lead is HBP Fast forward to July 11th Brewers 52-41 First Batter of the Game Gomez is HBP. Game 2. Nelson in his 2nd start of the season beaned Holliday in the 1st inning. Adam Wainwright folks. Staked to a 6-0 lead somehow Beans Carlos Gomez with 2outs in the 3rd inning. Game 3. Bottom of the 4th. Runner on 2nd base first base open who's at the Plate? Carlos Gomez. Beaned. 3game series, 3 separate games Carlos Gomez was beaned. Fast forward Aug 1st Brewers 60-49 Game 1. Top of the 6th 3-0 Brewers Adam Wainwright pitching Runners on 2nd and 3rd 1out 1st base open. Carlos Gomez to bat. Beaned Game 2. Gorzo beans Carpenter in the 8th inning Game 3. Garza Beans Matt Adams leading off the 2nd inning in a 2-0 lead for Milw. Fast forward Sept 4th Brewers 73-66 Game 1 Peralta beaned Holliday and Scruggs Game 2 Bot 7th 1out 6-2Brewers lead. Lyons Beans Lucroy Game 3 Lohse beans Lynn in 2nd. Lynn Beans Overbay in 4th Game 4 No HBP All told HBPs its: Gomez 5 ARam 2 Lucroy/Davis 1 Holliday 2 Adams 1. Oh the final Series No beanings by Cardinal Pitchers. Hey they had a 5game lead and Playoff Bound. ARam's 2HBPs led to him missing the 2nd/3rd games of that series. He'd return to the lineup after the series for 8 of the next 9 games and bats 5-29 only to suffer a strained Hamstring and miss the next 22games. Gomez didn't come away affected from his 5 beanings. Yadier Molina not beaned once in the season series. Neither was Braun but he's not the Braun of old. Anyway, just my reasoning of why I didn't like Roenicke's non retailiate tactics. Gomez gets beaned 5 times twice by the Ace of the Cardinal Staff! Someone who hbp batters 4 times one year in 230IP and last season 6 total times in 241IP! Yet batting in the 3rd in a 6-0winning game and 1b open with 1out in a 3-0losing game he beaned Gomez twice. 2 of his 7Hit Batters were Gomez in nearly 900Batters faced. And I'm sure this has Molina/Cardinal way all over it. Just giving reference to my suggestion. -
How do we turn this sad franchise around?

Has there even been bad blood between the players since 2011? I don't recall Matheny bringing in a reliever for the sole purpose of hitting someone like shingles DUI guy did. Early in the season how many times did the Cardinals bean both Gomez and ARam? thrice? I feel like. and I believe ARam took a few days away due to a beaning. That's the smart "Cardinal" Way to get things done. Behind Milw, in the Standings? Bean their two most dangerous hitters til they have to take a seat. That just may be the single reason why I want Roenicke gone! Cardinals have beaned Brewers over and over and not one repercussion for it. Just Flat out, Bean Yadier Molina every single time a Brewer is hbp by a Cardinal. See how much longer Cardinal Pitchers would have beaned our guys? Ribs or hands it's going to hurt. I gave the idea awhile back since the Cardinal Way of Beaning Brewers wasn't being addressed. To simply half charge the mound. Let the Benches clear, the Deke move from the HBP causes a 5-10min. delay. The HBPs by Cardinal Pitchers if you're not going to retaliate, will certainly begin getting MLB's attention due to the constant delays plus the fact that by doing this throughout the year each beaning will be taken noticed more and more. Some point an Ump will just run a Cardinal Pitcher w/o any reaction needed. -
I just had my web browser crash. Reloaded and having to put in my password again it said the same thing. User/pass does not exist. Luckily I'm still logged in with my phone....Not that it's doing my team any good anyway batting a robust .155 or so for the week. $600 on the line and my teams are laying a fat gooseegg. 1RBI in 3 days in one! Ouch

I didn't bet with Vegas but with a buddy during our Fantasy Baseball Draft the Over for the Brewers. Am I nervous? No, theres got to be at least 1 more win vs. the Reds/Cubs. Besides both those two teams have a lot on the line draft wise to lose every game possible. Cubs sit 7th currently for draft. 2 games behind tying for 4th. Reds sit 10th for draft (protected) 3 Losses ahead of 5teams! Sweeping the series with Milw would definitely put them at risk of moving outside 10th.

The result of all these trades could be several top 100 type minor league prospects. I bet Gallardo and Lohse could get a top 100 type guy each (maybe not top 50, but top 100). Gomez could land a top 20 type player and more. Gomez should net at least 1 top 100 prospect(top 40 minimum) and if not a second top 100 prospect one that is within reach of being a top 100 soon. Gallardo yes can sell high on him, but really don't believe he'll net a top 100 prospect on a 1year 13mil deal. Gallardo has seen his K/9 decrease some more this season, and it's only the fact his walks have decreased that he hasn't been absolutely torched. His Fip is a tick higher than last year's when GMs called him a #4 SP not worthwhile to add to a Playoff run rotation. He's an expensive Low #3 with likely #4 stats coming. Let's remember how "Great" our Catchers are Framing and consider that moving him to another team likely put Gallardo's ERA at his 3.91Fip with a 4.2Fip or worse then. Lohse. His Fip has been above 4 each of the last 2 seasons. You're not giving up a top 100 prospect for that. 11mil and aging? The kind of Prospect I'd figure we'd get for Lohse and Gallardo would be 3rd rd picks or poor 2nd rd picks who can maybe play 1b/3b in the Majors next season. Just a tick above Poorly. Something like Caleb Cowart from Anaheim who posted a .223BA .619OPS in AAA. Only real Players on Milw who have trade value are Gomez, Lucroy, Peralta, Nelson, and to some extent Davis. Can probably add Smith/Thornburg to having some trade value but definitely selling low on those two now. I'm thinking the team dumps Gallardo getting nothing for him if ARam agrees to come back next year. No ARam? then Gallardo's option is picked up. I don't see both being back on the team next season. 29mil for 2players on what would be a 75-81 win team seems really poor money managing to me. It's time to cut ties with both honestly, trade Gomez, and Trade Lohse, really reducing payroll. Bandaid would be Emilio Bonifacio for 3b. Parra/Schafer in CF Maybe even sign Chris Young to be a Platoon situation in CF. Figure combined those two would cost about 11mil in FA vs. the 26mil for Gomez/ARam. Man you're really looking at a vastly reduced Payroll. Which then acquiring Broxton really makes it all stupifying. As his 9mil contract would be pointless to have on a losing team. Guess he becomes a 2015 Trade Deadline Closer. Smart baseball fans would get the moves. But the general public would stop going to games with the losing team being put out there. Would really depend on who Gomez brought back in trade. You don't go the High upside route but rather the ML ready high Floor route and acquire say a Matthew Skole from Wash for 1b with Michael Taylor a CF replacement for Gomez. You then have 1b/RH CF covered for awhile. You keep ARam and 1 of Lohse Gallardo and see if that works. With Broxton/ARam/the Pitcher kept among Lohse/Gallardo as trade deadline players if you aren't in contention at that point. Considering Washington can lose Span not picking up his 9mil option to FA, Gomez becomes a perfect cheap 2year CF for them. Adding that Ryan Zimmerman moves to 1b long term blocking Skole. I think Skole and Taylor would be a very good deal for Milw for Gomez. -

Why do I have to remove Paxton? He was selected lower probably offered too little money. Brewers select him higher offer more money does he not sign? I'll take Scheppers/Broxberger/Brothers over the ARnett/Davis picks. They have made it to MLB. Skaggs had TJ this year yes. But he was someone that was believed to be ready to start 2013 but instead was left in the Minors since Arz had postseason aspirations and wanted him to refine there vs. learn on the job like Peralta in 2013. Jungmann is barely being relevant as a Projected Starter with his lackluster numbers. At best I see a #5 SP. He is already behind the 8ball with a lack of velocity FB. High BBrate just not much going for him. He'd have to have a heckuva breaking pitch to compensate for his weak FB while locating it, and he doesn't. I don't even know if he's got the goods to fallback in to a RP role. I figure his role in Milw will last 1season as a SP and he'll be traded to a desperate losing team to fill a rotation hammered by injuries. Mets/Twins/Royals/Padres/Marlins come to mind.
