  1. I think JZ is around for the veteran experiences to pass on through ST. I have no idea how he'd make the team. But hanging around the youth, being from WI, this may become like a future opening towards any coaching within the organization.
  2. I'm thinking Robertson is your lockdown Utility. Shaw makes 3b/1b. Hiura is just 1b. Hiura goes down Shaw fills in. Robertson to 3b with Arcia. Wong goes down Robertson fills in but maybe Urias with Arcia at SS. I don't see Vogelbach making the team w/o a NL DH. He's basically around currently insurance to a big injury to Hiura or Wong.
  3. Is Rasmussen going to be a RP to start the season? The guy was a SP for the Brewers prior to 2020's no minors callup for RP. I'd think he'd return in the minors for much of the season. Maybe work towards towards 100IP. Topa seems groomed to be a RP and his age he's likely a shoe-in before Rasmussen. Yardley also groomed RP. And older, likely ahead. Let's not forget on Feyereisen. Just on pecking order these three fit starting the season over Rasmussen who's young and SP material. Atm, BRef doesn't show Boxberger on the 40man. So he has to win the job and Milw removes somebody from 40man. Or is insurance to an injury during ST to trot out there. Perdomo should have options and likely falls in behind the first 3 mentioned. Probably going to be part of the shuttle crew. Agreed that of 4 obvious SPs after Woodruff, Burnes, Anderson, the two that don't complete the Rotation end up in the bullpen.
  4. The ball is deadened for this season. Not last season. Thus the point in creating a better defensive team this offseason.
  5. Can we remember the baseball is supposed to be "deadened" Hader's pitching and arm release is designed for an amped up batter to foolishly swing at pitches that arent in the strike zone. When there's a complaint seeing his control all but in the strike zone, a lot of that is on purpose. Harder to catch up with a ball high in the zone is the saying. Remember pitchers returned without a ST ramp up. 95-96mph is consistent with majority of 2019. A full season 2019 he had 96-98s too. But the highest numbers occured beyond 60 games in to season. Maybe one in the first 60games. Hader gave up runs in 4 outing last. Walk fest, multi hit for 1 run. The other 2 were 3HRs allowed. Essentially 3 poor games in 21 outings. 1 of them abnormally so. Coming in to a mew Full season with competition for saves. Should feel Hader is primed for a big season. How many other times has it happened where RP Poy was beat the next season by a player on same team? Williams did it with 2 pitches. I'd expect Hader to bring a better slider this year thrown more often.
  6. I'd call that bluff if I'm negotiating. Chances of the Brewers taking the chance on paying a reliever around $20 million, even for one season is extremely remote imo. Yet it would be a guarantee any top 20 market gives that QO to Hader. So we should just give Hader to LA take one top 100prospect and then watch 4 drafts from now LA draft a new top 100 prospect (since that's all they churn out these days) Lose lose small market.
  7. Some people have such poor reading skills and thought processes. Utility guys doesn't mean CF starters. Simply back-ups. Arcia has 4innings of defense outside of SS for his career. As Cheesehead noted above, he shows improvement via statcast on his bat. Showing he can play defense in CF or 3b is helping Arcia's future. Like I mentioned trade value vs just a straight up dfa. There will undoubtedly be a good share of dfas before the season begins and before the claiming process begins teams can try to trade that player. Arcia imo could fit a swap of dfa type players. Versatility is all. Arcia has only 4innings of of being anything but SS. But stay closed-minded and a sad angry poster always with negatory comments on FO moves. Bet you're a real thrill to work alongside with.
  8. I don't think Alexander is going to be a big INT guy. Those guys tend to play in zone or they tend to play a little riskier(think Peters). Alexander is just relentless and doesn't bait QB's. Savage though, he could be a guy who gets 6-7 picks. The guy who'd probably benefit the most...if he were brought back, would be King. But I think most Packers fans have already buried that dude. The idea is QBs make mistakes under pressure. You cant double team all of that trio and have adequate receiving options. There's gotta be a season or two for Alexander's career where he has a lot of ints in. Hes too good not to. It's just optimism. Watt is definitely putting more pressures on QB than Lowry or Lancaster.
  9. Or maybe the team increases any trade value showcasing Arcia at CF and 3b during ST before waiving him/dfa to save money. I mean if Robertson is going to be super utility with Urias as SS and Shaw as 3b. Do you need Arcia as a PH? Or would Vogelbach be better off the bence as PH late in games?
  10. I mentioned Gore because he plays for SD. He was drafted 3rd when I made the scenario of a top 7 projection falling. Just a generalization that a top 7 pick could rate top 10 in prospects. I didn't detail the fact that the FO has picked the guy falling below expectations in the draft fitting the story of using money gained from Hader's QO loss to select a guy that shouldn't have been there to pick. It's been a strategy used multiple times the opposite way. I know the QO may not exist, but currently it does. Until it doesnt, I shouldn't pivot to an imaginary future. Cincinnati QO'd Bauer while moving on from some contracts. So saying it can't happen because Milw., we're talking Hader trade ideas here. Stearns/Arnold and co. Would they be doing their job properly not using my added reason for Hader trade value? Whether Milw can or does give Hader a QO when his FA begins, Stearns/Arnold had better be using that they will go this route if you're not meeting their demand/ asking price. Being fearful that Hader is going to regress or get injured, that's a reason for you to try trading him now, it's not the reason to reduce the value you have for him in negotiations. Hader at this moment is trending to be QO'd once his team control ends. Going in to a trade negotiation with any value not including that sells yourself short. Arguing the QO in future being gone like it's a bad thing, forgets it could be better not worse to get compensated when losing Hader to FA.
  11. Hader makes a ton of sense for us as well... We can win the Central, then anything can happen in the playoffs. This can be very true. 7 game series and you get the best of Woodruff and Burnes twice plus Williams-Hader to complete games. The only turnover problem is at least 1 of those 2 wouldn't be ready for game 1/2 in next series. Be nice to see offense win a game the pitching matchups suggest you shouldn't. Think that's part of what Hader trades not happening is a result of. He's a benifit for playoff run for Milw who is what you'd trade for if you needed help at the position to make a playoff push. Exactly why you put an insane asking price to trade him away. As things stand he's 100pct going to be QO'd when his FA begins. You know that a low 30s draft pick is coming if nobody meets your asking price. And you get the best of him while he's cheap. It's always something that a trade simulator never inputs in to a trade value. That draft pick. Brewers could use the pick to value or they could use it towards a 1st pick that exceeds pick value who drops. Take a top 7 expected picked guy who falls to the 20s where Milw likely picks and drafts and pays the guy who likely after 13picks expected not to sign any more. Yet Milw does so. A top 7 guy could be a Gore for example who nobody expects Hader for Gore Straight-up to happen. Gore was 3rd pick in his draft so reasonable talent-draft fall comparison.
  12. 3-4 lining up Gary, Watt, Clark? You'd have to feel good locking down the left half defensive field with pressure. Alexander on the right side WR to cover for the quick avoid of pass rush? Shortens that field of options offensively. I'd think Savage or Alexander leads league in ints when forcing the qb in to more predictable outs.
  13. Drew Pomeranz headlines their closer. Craig Stammen is there. Plus who knows how they divvy up the youth movement. Devin Williams shored up the Brewers backend from out of nowhere. San Diego is healthy on RPs at the moment. Hader is a luxury move if they pulled one off before season began.
  14. I'm surprised Tatis Sr didnt have a better career. But you see his best 2 years were during the end of the Mark Mcguire HR tainted era and traded away the offseason when Albert Pujols hit 37HRs his rookie season. I just remember Sportscenter with Tatis Tattoos HR calls. Probably safe to say Sr was doped up with the Cardinal way during his best 2 years.
  15. Going in to ST 2019 I'm pretty sure he had a whole lotta hype as a SP having improved a 3rd pitch offering(slider was it?) But wasn't he delayed by a minor injury and it just set him back when he took the mound to not maintain the spot? The hype garnished Milw extending a contract before he blew up due to it. So it only makes sense he would be stretched out and possible for a rotation spot. I'm glad to hear about it because Ive been a supporter on Peralta to be in the rotation through the good and bad. When hes good it's exceptional. Cakewalk 7IP potentially few more on a start. Label him a 5 all you want but those starts are an easy 2. The upside for a 5 to be a 2 is such a plus to have.
  16. They added two pretty good relievers this offseason in Kela and Melancon so I'm not really sure what you're talking about. You can definitely see San Diego has their share of RPs already. So the Padres don't need Hader at the moment. But what about the Dodgers? Maybe San Diego's motive is to prevent LA from the chance to get Hader and prevent them from extending him to be a long term nuisance. Going off that 3 team rumor- Detroit's pitching prospects at the moment rate closer to where you would think headline a Hader deal. Matt Manning and Tarik Skubel in the 20s vs Gore a top 5. I'd guess. San Diego would use CJ Abrams and/ or Campusano to poach the Tigers pitching prospects. Trying to find maybe a ML piece SD could want fron Det but I dont know one. Its a bad rostered team. After Cabrera the second highest contract is 6.5Mil. to a horrendous Matthew Boyd and 5.5mil to Robbie Grossman who Detroit just signed. Ah dug around and Det could be in running to Cronenworth as a SS fit. Using the return of the Tigers pitching prospect to get Hader. Skubel sounds like the best target for Milw. There certainly would be other toss ins to even it out.
  17. Why would he be talking with Mark Kotsay? He's been gone from the Brewers for years. See via wiki Kotsay became a 3rd base coach among assistant at San Diego and Oakland. So they'd have met on field at 3b and likely became friendly.
  18. And that right there lies the question, how does Hader's value lowered so much vs a SP that isn't elite yet get away with a top 100 prospect easily +? Any big market team who acquires Hader will immediately extend Hader before he becomes a FA. Sorry dropped daughter off before I could finish. The guy has been atop relievers 3years now. This isnt a guy who likely fizzles out after 3 years. He will solve a concern for such team for the next 7-8years maybe longer. He on a HOF track. What barely there top 100 prospect can say they will?
  19. Are the Brewers at their 40man limit? Sorta like the Dodgers waiting to sign Turner so they can create space for him on 40man. Maybe FO is looking to trade somebody off the 40man before DFA them to create the open spot? Or its vice versa the team JBJ is really trying to sign with needs the extra time. If Shaw is to be the 3b majority of a platoon and JBJ being LH, Vogelbach trade soon?
  20. In 1992 Pat Listach Was ROY. How'd that end up for Milwaukee? That season by Andujar was above his norm in the minors. In other words an outlier.
  21. JBJ is 4 years removed from his one All Star season. Read the comments on Mlbtr on Brewers interest, one is a Sox fan that said good take him. Fall for the fact he was in one of his hot streaks in 2020 that didnt have the trash streak over a full season. Pretty much read that as a .235/.320/420 batter with solid defense. Nowhere near the upside of Cain his elder. Cain may post a BA higher than JBJ's OB. Hes a high floor player with little upside. Bats lefty and good side for a platoon with Garcia or injury insurance. I mentioned for the price he would make a solid solution to not pick up Garcia's option after 2021 and still have a Starting OF to plug in.
  22. Over the last three season JBJ's 95 wRC+ isn't all that different from Avisail's 100 wRC+, but FanGraphs has JBJ at +7.6 on the bases & +14.1 in the field compared to -5.8 on the bases & -8.1 in the field for Avisail. Add it all up & JBJ has 5.7 WAR the last three seasons compared to only 2.6 for Avisail. In 2020 the Brewers ranked dead last on the bases (-17.6) by a considerable margin (next worst was -11.1). If we sign JBJ (+7.6, 27th) to go along with Wong (+9.7, 16th) and Cain (+7.0, 30th) returning that would essentially be adding three of the top thirty baserunners over the last three seasons to the 2021 team. How do you read in to the basepath numbers? Like is -17.6 meant as runs or simply bases? Like with Wong did he score 9.7 more runs or did he just hustle 9.7 more bases than expected? So if it's just bases that Wong was worth nearly 2.5 runs vs 9.7. If its runs, 14.4 runs is what? Worth 3games of wins? alone. I'm thinking JBJ becomes a serious 4th OF late inning guy who battles with Garcia on next season for an option pick up. He may want a 1yr contract after his solid 2020 small sample to repeat the value he had over a full season and enter a better market next year with more selling power. Edit add- Garcia's option is for 12mil or 10mil saved when buying out. If JBJ is an 8-10 mil per yr guy there's your 10mil to pay him optionally. Also you put a rotation of 3 OFs that 1 traded around deadline is feasible while still having a competitive starting 3.
  23. Sorry on wrong term. Acquittal vs not guilty.
  24. Well he signed for 1pmil a year. I figured at 2 yrs he was worth 13-15mil. Simply because I can see why 10mil value but hes not going to play a full season. It'd be amazing for him to reach 27 starts. Thats 0 games in September and playoffs.
  25. It's not the juicing that's the problem. I'm sure a lot of players use PED's and never get caught and we will never think less of them. And a lot of players get caught and take their punishment and move on. The problem is the lying and pointing the finger of blame at an innocent man. Huge difference. I can't think of another guilty PED user not named Lance Armstrong who went to greater lengths to deceive the public into thinking he was clean and vilify the people who supported a contrary view. For the most part I had let it go. I actually never have booed Braun. I've also never cheered him. But when I hear people say he "deserves" a Miller Park send off I see red. The man is no hero. Ignorant to the fact Braun was backed in to this corner when ESPN guy leaked what was supposed to remain behind closed doors that he was voted innocent in Arb process due to the story Braun now had to tell. To this day nobody but MLB and Braun would know of his test that popped positive. You're basically saying the hate you have for Braun is him telling the truth of why his test popped positive and he was found not guilty by MLB arbitrators. I don't blame him for his actions when he was betrayed by a media snitch disobeying MLB rules. Can you tell me another time you have heard of a player who was innocent to a popped PED? No? Maybe because they all remained behind closed doors, as Braun,s should have.
