Why? If the Brewers need a power arm in the pen, Woodruff seems as good a choice as any. With his velocity, I think he'd be a right-handed Hader. At this point, my offer would be Broxton, Arcia, and Ortiz for Machado and international bonus money. I don’t care about getting Britton, personally I find it to be bad investment. You are taking on a guy trying to come back from injury with no clue if he will once back. Worse no control & big contract. There were mentions of outrageous deals to add him so I gave a more realistic option. I’m not giving up on a 23 year old SS at least not for a rental. He has been bad offensively this year but not bad enough to throw in a dumpster & give up on. We got plenty of really nice arms coming up. Even Houser can throw hard close to Woodruff. That and OF is an area of strength. SS is not. It hurts way more for future trading Arcia than Woodruff. You are putting all eggs in the Saladino/Dubon basket or have to go out and buy an expense prospect price to bring new one in. Woodruff has 12 starts & 58 innings as a mlb starter with ERA in the 5s. Looked awful during spring. Brewers gave him spot anyway, did little to show he wanted it. Not saying I’ve given up on him by any means just that I feel Peralta & Burnes are better. He is the 3rd wheel now which makes him more expandable. Next year as of now, you have Nelson, Anderson, Chacin, Peralta, Burnes, Guerra, Davies, Suter....Ortiz, Brown, Houser, Medeiros, and Diplan all there in AAA (if Houser doesn’t help in pen in MLB). Maybe Brewers move to sign or trade for frontline guy. Point is Woodruff is good & talented but I won’t loss much sleep over him bringing Machado. Arcia..... that creates a hole. Maybe he sucks again at age 24 but still, a lot of potential there. With Machado, he will have until September to get bat right in AAA.
