  1. I still believe Brewers are one year away from development side in minors and competitiveness in majors to make huge trades like this. We still have too many young guys adjusting who have no track record in majors, Our best wave in minors is hitting AA which is were prospects develop the most worth if they perform. To me, this year is still to let players show what they are in majors. Let Brinson, Phillips, Woodruff, and etc endure some more growing pains and growth. Let guys like Harrison, Ray, Diaz, Erceg, Gatewood, and so on show what they really are in AA. Come 2019, we will know exactly our major holes and which prospects really dont have a role here.
  2. Reminder at #12, Trent no long goes by Clark. It is now Trent Grisham.
  3. I big markets can go big on him outside of Rangers at 3.5 million. Brewers can go 800k. Big markets can get him more endorsements to offset money. I think comfort is the biggest deal. Some players don’t really want the big market. He has same agent as Braun & Nelson. Be interesting to see what happens. Every team is wants him
  4. Trent Clark? Don’t know him but I’m still very high on Trent Grisham! Think when he is out of Carolina he will excel. He has all the numbers outside of average. Hopefully Ks drop back down. He added power & started to pull ball more & add power so that is a factor
  5. Erceg seems to alway rise up to competition. Look what he is doing right now in AFL.... what he did in ST last season... and his short time at AAA. Carolina was tough for most hitters but excited to see what he does in better hitters League at Biloxi. Much more neutral of a league.
  6. Top 25 1. Lewis Brinson 2. Brandon Woodruff 3. Corbin Burnes 4. Maverick Phillips 5. Keston Hiura 6. Freddy Peralta 7. Isan Diaz 8. Lucus Erceg 9. Luis Ortiz 10. Monte Harrison 11. Tristen Lutz 12. Trent Clark 13. Marcos Diplan 14. Corey Ray 15 Maruicio Dubon 16. Cody Ponce 17. Jake Gatewood 18. Mario Feliciano 19. Taylor Williams 20. Troy Stokes 21. Trey Supak 22. Phil Bickford 23. Jacob Nottingham 24. Demi Orimoloye 25. Kodi Mederois
  7. correction 4 for 36 now....He has gone 2-7 since I last checked stats. Erceg is crushing .350 with 1.000+ OPS Harrison hasn't played much but has been impressive when given opportunity Gatewood 2-22. Jorge Ortega's return wasn't great recorded 1 out while giving up 4 hits and 3 runs
  8. Surprised how little talk there has been this fall with the prospects we have in AFL. Houser 2IP 4H 0ER 5K Perrin 2 hitless and scoreless innings 2BB 0k Griep 1.1IP 2H 0ER O BB 1K You kind of forget how good and young Houser was. He is only 24 right now. He worked his way up to September call-up at 22. Been hearing awesome stuff about where he is at! Can't wait to see if he works way back this season to Crew. Would be big power arm in bullpen at least. No mentioned Ray taking 2nd in a hitting skill contest....absolutely meaningless but hey....its close to a victory with his 2-29 start
  9. Most posters still think that of Arcia... You are 100% wrong. I don't know I still read plenty of people on here still not buying in on him because at 23 he is not the top SS in baseball with OPS over .800 More recent, how many posters and scouts thought Phillips was dead and out as a prospect and anything more than 4th or 5th OF? Erceg was just as bad as Ray this season for most part along with most of that loaded team.....[sarcasm]we probably should right off all of them as busts[/sarcasm]
  10. Braddock, Salome, Delmonico, and Parra all had issues upstairs they couldn't get through while here. Braddock suffered from bipolar Salome I remember just shutdown. His old coach talked a little bit about it back then. Lucroy ended up skipping over him. Delmonico had his addiction to adderall and struggled for a bit mentally with things due to that leading to his way out Parra was own worst enemy. All the talent in the world but he could never bounce back. He would melt down and couldn't get out of his head. When things were going good, he was great, if he hit a road bump in a game....he'd blow up....if he blew up in one game....that attitude would follow into next and the next. I will go injury route and say Matt Jones. Absolutely dominate AA at 20 and injuries killed an Ace....Neugy was once a top 5 milb prospect for 2 years I believe and arm fell off. Mat Gamel had injuries and prospect hater Macha so he was dead in water sadly
  11. Another thread? I'd rather have them announce the legit tickets sold number. No thanks for your backhanded thanks. Define attendance? To me, attendance is money paid. Now before going back to grad school to become teacher, I was a Business Admin and Sports Mgt grad so I care more about the business and financial side of it (actually interviewed with Crew coming out of college) If people don't show.... too bad, so sad.... we still got paid. That is money in the pockets of the franchise. It does hurt in a way because people don't show, they don't spend which is a big part of revenue. The business and corporate tickets are paid for and many times people don't make it. Season tickets are paid for but many times those fans may miss games because things pop up. All that is still attendance. Brewers don't refund if you don't make it. At game, I don't focus on the number at all. I do care where we finish season though in tickets sold because that factors in a big way on payroll. Brewers for a small market team draw incredibly well. Plenty to be positive about. Impossible not to love energy, personality, and grit of this team. They act like a family which is critical in success and love that.
  12. I'm not upset or disappointed at all. Really we still have one more year of true rebuild left. To complete rebuild, we need to fully to our prospects this year. This means Hader, Woodruff, Burns, T. Williams, Lopez ....maybe Peralta, Ortiz if they pitch way out of minors need to get their real looks to find out if they are parts of our future and how they will fit. Hader and Williams starters or bullpen arms? Brinson and Phillips need their AB's to prove worth. Dubon is another guy on the cusp of earning a look by mid season. Our next big wave of top prospects will be in Biloxi and as we know that is the most defining league for prospect status. Many of them will raise or kill their prospect status this year there. Will they be Tyrone Taylor's and flame out there and fall off map or Arcia's and shoot up list? This is critical for rebuild because of we will have stronger pieces to trade off to get MLB talent going into 2019 (off-season or trade deadline when these guys should be in AAA knocking on door. Plus they can begin to mix in and add depth in 2019. So some off you may hope for big run next year but 2019 is the season where I really care about winning. Next season I want to see our prospects develop and find out what we have. It is not a real rebuild if you aren't turning prospects into core players. It is unrealistic to think that all these guys will be instant stars in first full-season but you hope they play well enough to repeat level of competitiveness of this season. Not to mention we still need to find out who Thames will be, see how OF shakes out, how Arcia continues to grow, wait for Nelson to return, and hope Shaw, Santana, Pina are all for real as core players. I think it will be critical season for use moving forward and can be exciting to see the development but playoffs, no playoffs....doesn't matter to me....development to make real run in 2019 and after is what matters most
  13. Ray maybe should be dropped off. Diaz absolutely not! I could go back to my post from a few months ago why NOT to freak out with Carolina numbers that broke down the leagues stats across the board. I don't think there is a scout who has seen him that does not absolutely love his bat! I'd go to T-Rat games jaw would drop watching him. He literally squares up everything and the sound of bat is incredible. One of the best I've heard. You can be down on the K's being at 26% or batting average not being what you hope (name many in the Carolina league who do). Focus on him hitting .225 while still having 104 wRC+, 13.6% BB%, .155 ISO, and fact that realistically he will not carry a .280 babip often. His IFF% raised....maybe pressing more due to struggles and frustration. He will be 21 in AA next season and regain everything some have lost on him. Ray is older and had major contact concerns his junior year at Louisville. Those have not improved much but think he isn't as awful as most make him out to be. Most of it comes from people who hated the pick (I disliked it as well) others because Ray is top 5 pick so expectations are he should play at that level. I will hold out until Fall League against top competition and Biloxi. 2 seasons at BC and Carolina which have shown to be tough on hitters. He needs to improve I will say that but not completely writing him off. Harrison gets zero national love and I am fine with that, He stays healthy and that will change quick. Gatewood is another who continues to fly under radar. Next season in Biloxi will be huge for the system and defining who are legit prospects.
  14. In 2016 we had a much younger, more athletic, way cheaper, and less injuried 2B star for us in Villar (3.9 WAR) than Cozart. Blowing up in your 30's for one year after pretty so so career doesn't warrant an aggressive move. I don't feel Cozart is an upgrade over what we have. Walker is proven and consistent so a better buy. Villar is uber talented and cheap. He is Gomez frustrating but talent is there to be superior to Cozart. Just think Cozart who is a pretty average guy isn't worth clearing out pockets for. By 32 you need more track record than one season if a small market team will pay. Hosmer I would pay. Many on here dislike but he has been has long been considered a plus defender...something Milwaukee has avoided. His bat doesn't set world on fire but he is a career .285 hitter and .340 OBP guy. Power hasn't been outstanding. He will be entering his prime next season where many players really start to hit stride (looked like he started to this season and 1st half in 2016. Look for power to tick up in Miller Park as well. I like the sign for now and future. Not to mention guy has been a winner on a team just like the Brewers. That mentality and experience in similar market to me is a plus. Always seemed like a really good club guy as well that fits the attitude and fun of our team. All that says, I'd like to still see what Thames is. He is an extremely hard worker and curious to see how a real off-season after a full season of ups and downs goes. I think he is capable of making needed adjustments to become more consistent.
  15. I've been extremely high on him since last year & he only continues to be more dominant. Like I've said, he is the righty Hader.... I had a big breakdown about it like a month ago. He is nasty, unhittable, huge k rates and only reason he gets in trouble is his walks. Short but the low effort delivery makes for less concerns about starting long term. His Bbs will be the hurdle. Peralta & Herrera are looking like pretty great get for Lind! Keep buying those lottery tickets Stearns!
  16. Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not.... Tristian Lutz is really darn good! I keep getting more excited for the kid!
  17. Takes from tonight: Jungmann deserves another big league look. Thing with him, when he is Clicking & confident.... you need to ride him! He has proven himself before. He is not as consistent as you may want but if he is throwing strikes, he is a darn good pitcher. We know that. When he is throwing the way he has, he can get big league hitters out. Stoked will never get love he deserves. The kid will be an MLB player. 4th OF or starter, regardless... there is a reason he was the OF promoted & a reason he is hittting over .300 for Bioloxi. Kid can play ball. Burnes is who he is. Guy can pitch at any level. Griep.... why the heck is he still at Carolina? Please someone explain?! Dominated as a closer with Trats & for Mudcats past two years. No clue why he's been passed over.
  18. I'm excited for nickname jersey weekend.... all I have to contribute, they are not playing competitive baseball
  19. Burns & Peralta in same night! Loving it! Peralta throwing strikes & just carving up hitters!
  20. Hiura & Lutz, those are two special bats to follow! Mix in Harrison who probably should be in Wisconsin as well. Ward has been solid, Carroll is older advanced college bat but has been really good... hard to complain about early offensive returns from draft class...strong like last years pitching group. Pitching.... could be better. Is Lemons hurt or pitched too much already? Been really disappointed with the pitching, even Rose has only been okay.
  21. Yeah no one cares about someone being wrong on here, I'm wrong almost everyday. It was that bar sports/politics argument style of "I'm 100% right & you are 100% wrong" that I had to poke fun of. None of us know anything for sure we are all just fans at end of the day.... making predictions. Just like a few weeks ago when we all learned that because someone is super connected with people in the organization that Brinson should be up & would outperform everyone (clearly not the case lol). Yeah, Brewers are super high on Lutz and we are seeing why! They said after the draft that there were people in the room lobbying to take him at 9 but they couldn't pass up Hiura's elite bat. He has came out hot & think he could be a really good player! Just very mature for an 18 both physically & his approach at the plate.
  22. ^ lol oh darn, he was so certain of it. Never fun being so 100% certain of something just for reality to say different.
  23. Bet you were pretty concerned about these problems too: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rizzoan01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/troutmi01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/judgeaa01.shtml Spot on, it is far more common for a player to go through these struggles & adjustments than for a hitter to hit ground running like Braun. Only sad thing was Phillips was starting to come on a bit & they cut that short
  24. The Brewers window hasn't even started.... they have realistically no true core or players outside of Braun who have any track record that 1st half performance wasn't a fluke. This team has more holes on roster than me trying to play goalie in men's league hockey (that's a lot) Arcia is growing & learning, hopefully Shaw, Domingo, Pina are for real, Braun can't stay on field this season. Villar has been terrible. Sogard is not as great as he started out. Our staff can't stay healthy. With way it's been going, he could have traded for one but they prob get hurt as well. Broxton is fire or ice. Brinson is struggling & mostly ice right now. Thames & Aguilar I still don't know what we truely have. This is an overachieving team. Please.... for love of all that is holy look at the Nationals roster & staff! That is a contending team! They have a real core! They have 5 guys hitting .320+ with 20+HRs! Even without Strasburg, their rotation is strong! Trading away our system to pretend we are even close to a true contender would be laughable. Windows start when top prospects come up & perform, Arcia & know Brinson are only two. Hader isn't starting. We will get there but no need to try to skip steps.
  25. His average fastball was 95.1 last year and has been 94.7 and 94.8 in June and July. That's lower but certainly not notably lower. [sarcasm]Please, 95.1mph is tough to hit, 94.75.... mid as well have Suter out there trying to blow fastballs past hitters[/sarcasm] His velocity is pretty much back. Moreover, as Peralta show velocity means little if you don't hit spots, have little life, or your secondary stuff is keeping hitters off it. There was more important issues than velocity at work. Stuff he hopefully fixes again now that he is back.
