  1. LOL.. do it in his chat.. http://www.d1baseball.com/d1chat.php Interestingly, 20% of the readers in this chat would pick Corey Ray 1-1, for all the haters out there. To bad those 20% don't make up the front office of every team outside of the Brewers, World Series would be easy to by then. I really hope I'm wrong on him but I've tried to watch him & think positively about his ceiling..... Just don't see a future All-Star. Maybe a better Michael Reed. Still think he moves to LF. Defensively, if he is your top CF option at MLB level, that's not good.
  2. So from all that I have gathered: 1. Puk or Moniak..... Lewis outside shot 2. Puk or Senzel 3. Anderson, Garrett, Lewis, or Ray 4. Moniak or Pint So I predict either Puk, Senzel, Lewis/Anderson, Moniak Or Moniak, Puk, Lewis/Anderson, Pint Braves & Brewers are most difficult to peg in top 5
  3. Exactly, great analysis. Every time I hear Ray & Brewers I cringe. Not because he isn't a very good player but because he simply doesn't have the star ceiling others have. I don't plan or hope we are in top 5 again for long time.... That means don't waste a top pick on a safe player. Put you chips in & grab a guy who has the raw tools to be a star. Lewis, Groome, Pint, Perez ( before PEDs), and etc those guys have "it" factors & tools about them. Ray is simply solid across board.
  4. If it's a change up, guessing that change up will be either Josh Lowe or Braxton Garrett. Can't see them taking a relatively safe pick in Hudson with all the other toolsy guys still on the board. Best change up imaginable, Lowe & Garrett are outstanding picks at 5
  5. Bats & bullpen are too good for for 100 loss team, I have been pretty consistent thinking they are a 74 win type team. I honestly don't see a fire sale coming. I'd say there is about 95% chance Braun isn't moved. Lucroy, 50/50. Teams simply don't often trade for a catcher during season, Stearns will hold out unless some team blows him away & over spends. Carter I doubt will be flipped. No other 1bs and cheap for 3 years. Jeffress & Thornburg I highly doubt get moved. Smith's value will be much higher in off-season due to injury. Blazek DL doesn't help him. Peralta & Garza have little to no value. Hill may fetch something like a mid level prospect or 2. Overall Stearns isn't selling unless blown away because there is no rush. Everyone is controllable.
  6. Finally someone said what I have thought & been thinking about Ray. I could be very wrong but I will be doing some praying at work that we don't draft Ray. I still just don't know how you can pass on Groome at #5. 17 yrs old lefty, outstanding frame, mid 90s FB, one of the best HS curveball seen in years, and very clean mechanics. He's 17, maturity issue will be there but the upside is just too high. Pint seems to have none of those maturity issues & appears to be an outstanding, hard working, talented kid. His arm is less beat up because his parents were smart and shielded him over throwing. Mechanics & power arm just scare me a bit. Lowe & Garrett are two guys I am extremely pulling for. Think both are future All-Stars with Lowe being a gold glove 3B with one of top power strokes from the corner. Moniak & Rutherford are both solid picks. I love Mickey! True CF who can flat out hit. Rutherford gets such mix reviews but think he is an impact guy who will at least be an everyday starter who is a borderline all-star every season. Edit: Lewis- keep forgetting since I believe he will be long gone but hard not to love his bat! Colliens- won't be excited with but know he will be our new LaPorta. Hopefully once he makes it he continues to mash though unlike Matt. Senzel & Ray- solid guys, solid ceiling, pass though. Perez- #47 if there, avoid now at 5 My personal board: Groome Moniak Pint Lewis Lowe Rutherford Garrett Puk
  7. Geez Patrick (ColbyJack), is it possible for you to get me to love Josh Lowe anymore? Him or Garrett are the two stretch/ sleeper picks I'd be ecstatic for
  8. He seems to have recovered from his early-season struggles. Same goes for Suter. [sarcasm]Looks like they could be 1-2 on my next top 25 ballot, with Perrin at 3.[/sarcasm] Fixed it for you
  9. Terrible match through. They may have the worst system in all of baseball. I am not sure if their #5 prospect and on would even make our top 30 Prospect list. Fulmer is going nowhere, he has locked himself in at the MLB level as a staple for a contending team. Beau Burrows is a mandatory get in the trade, at 19 he is a power pitcher sitting at 94-95, hard breaking balls, and good command. K's aren't there yet. Not a big frame at 6'0-6'1 200 lbs OF Steven Moya is having good year but really, Brewers don't need him, we have enough AA/AAA/MLB/DL OFs with similar ceilings. OF Christian Stewart has exciting power and walks a ton. He has 16 HRS in the FSL so far and an OBP of .400. He is limited to only LF defensively. He is an option but once again, he he that much better than what we have? Walks more than Roache... SP Jairo Labourt still hasn't figured it out. OF Derek Hill is an athlete who can play defense, run, and take some walks but hit bat isn't very impressive. Young... don't think he gives us anything we don't have already. 3B Zach Sheppard another one of the guys I would probably want but his ceiling isn't high enough to be much more than a 3rd or 4th guy in the deal. LHP Tyler Alexander doesn't throw hard but he sure knows how to pitch. Not a bad back end type guy
  10. As I said before, neither was Rogers. All hype surrounded Bailey & him being Brewers top target
  11. Bradley bats lefty I believe. However you don't hang up the phone in contention for a proven elite MLB catcher for a 20 year old kid in high A, plus he is still scuffling at plate right now with his .230ba & 77 Ks in 2 months. Now if he 21/22 was lighting up AA or AAA & close. Maybe he'd be untouchable. Right now though, you take that deal & throw in another top guy
  12. Think Aiken would be headliner, Bobby would be #2. With Bradley, high Ks are issue but once again he is extremely young for league. He could top out like a Carter but if he is going to hit .235 with a .360 OBP, .900 OPS, 35+ HRs 100RBIs..... I still think that is a good piece. He hit .270 with .360 OBP with 27 HRs in his age 18/19 season at A ball. After being drafted he hit .340 with a .426 OBP & 8HRs in 38 games. You could and to the deal, but I want Bradley & Aiken/McKenzie (or both will be amazing!)
  13. I said like three times so far on here but I love Garrett. Safer & may end up best of the 3! He could be the Mark Rogers. We all talked Homer Bailey to death like we have Pint & Groome but we never even really mention Rogers or thought he was a real option at 5 like Garrett. Really if he can bump up to sit 93-94 in a few years to go with his command and natural stuff..... You got a possible Ace!
  14. My dream trade team! I for one could care less about Zimmer and Frazier because outside of them, they still match up very well! Must have in deal: 1B Bobby Bradley just turned 20 years old in Adv A. He K's too much and his average is down right now but he walks a ton and he hits the crap out of the ball! 14 HR & 14 2B's so far. Even hitting .230 his OBP is .362 and his OPS is .877. His average I do think matches his hit tool right now. One of, if not THE youngest position players in Carolina League. LHP Brady Aiken OR Tristian McKenzie Both have yet to pitch this season but McKenzie I believe the Brewers were very interested in last year. He got the high HS RHP signing bonus in the draft at 2 million and was very good in 4 outings last season. Extremely projectable and a young exciting kid who won't turn 19 until end of August. Aiken, we all know about so I won't go into details. Overall, Stearns want to young, high ceiling, boom or bust guys.... Bradley and these pitchers are exactly that! Could be stars or they may fall flat on their face but well worth the risk. The third piece would be a throw in guy they mined up like a Freddy Peralta. 20 year old MWL Catcher would be amazing though as the 3rd piece Fransico Mejia. SS Yu-Cheng Chang or Luke Wakamatsu would be other guys I like C Lucroy for 1B Bradley SP Aiken or McKenzie C Fransico Mejia Three extremely high ceiling kids, thats all I can ask for
  15. If Perez is adderrall, his camp needs to get that word out asap! He could walk into his doctors office today & get a prescription to use that as an excuse... Play it off as dumb. If it was a REAL PED, that is a bigger issue.
  16. Yikes, hopefully he just doesn't want to let it rip yet. All news from fall was he was sitting mid 90s topping 98. 1st game back so I can understand that but hopefully he regains that velocity soon
  17. Issue is its a PED & not a recreational drug. Sure the last thing Brewers want to deal with is another PED situation after the Braun one has finally blown over. Actually even if it is recreational, another Jeffress situation isn't much better at #5. Even at under slot, there is too much talent to pass up for a kid (who is year younger than most in class, will only be 18 all next season, 17 rest of this season) that has these types of issues... Maturity was already an issue, now toss in PED test results.... Take him in 2nd if still there, not 5. This draft is just depth. There is no 1a or 1b it's 1a to 1g or 1h! There are 6-8 guys who really could all equally slot in as rightful #1 picks in this draft. What you are getting at 1, isn't much better than what you are getting at 5-7 except more options
  18. I see Colliens as a LaPorta, mashing college catcher from state of Florida who will be a 1b.Drafted a little higher than most have him. Will advance fast, be a top 50 prospect & be a piece of the future. Now will he flame out like Matt? I hope not but solely looking at him as a prospect, I think LaPorta is very fair. LaPorta got us CC, all signs pointed to him becoming something special. I pick LaPorta over Schwarber more due to size & positions. Offensively I think fits but complete package, Colliens just reminds me of LaPorta. (Good thing)
  19. Well issue there is that everyone & there mother knew for whole draft process that Daz was a huge signability issue, he was worthy of top 5 pick but every team knew he was way to risky. That is why he fell. I have yet to hear ever the slightest whisper that Rutherford is a signing liability. Some even claim he could be an underslot pick even at 5. He doesn't want to play college ball. Leverage isn't there for him. Doubt day before draft he jacks up his price & becomes some huge signing liability.....free falling out of first & the comps
  20. I see no possible way Rutherford slips 42 picks.....I have hard time seeing him out of top 10. He's not a signability issue. Unless he tells every team that he will absolutely not sign with them....he's already 19 & hasnt switched to a JUCO.... No way he's going to college
  21. Diaz and Gatewood are All-Stars, but Allemand isn't? Presumably, the voting was largely done before Allemand went on his hot streak. He also spent 3-4 weeks in BC until Tucker got hurt
  22. I'll just accept Ray as the pick..... That way if we pick anyone else beside him, I'll be ecstatic & think he made an amazing pick. Just haven't bought into the Ray is an elite ceiling talent. That is my opinion though, agree to disagree
  23. Like Payton Henry, think he'd be a great 3-4 rd pick. Max Walla tore up Pre Work and ended up being 2nd round pick so having big workouts can have lasting impression. Nice to get another young developmental catcher. Garfield & Houle have been our only two really in awhile.
  24. Groome & Pint are my top 2 hopes as well. I personally love Garrett. To me he is safer than both the other two but doesn't mean he doesn't have a ceiling that's high. Kid is lefty, great frame, cleaner mechanics, could easily have velocity jump over next few years, and could under-slot a bit. Not saying he should be our choice but I'd have no problem with him. Garrett & Lowe are my top 2 favorite sleeper picks. Krooks in 3rd round or 2 comp would be outstanding pick. Was considered Top 10-20 pick during winter following tommy John last year. Came out and still has his same elite lefty stuff.... He just lost all ability to throw a strike. BB/9 is around 9 or 10. Get him back to throwing strikes & you could have something special on our hands. No real risk.
  25. Because it doesn't make sense to modify the development plan for Hader by bringing him up to help a bullpen that doesn't need help, in a losing season, and start his clock for no good reason. Idk about losing season, only 4.5 games out of wildcard
