Is Jorge Lopez a top 100 prospect in all of MILB?
Jenkins5 replied to molitor fan's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
I think Brent Suter and Jorge Ortega may dispute that assessment. They've just produced this year. Yeah.......Ben Hendrickson may also dispute that (well he's older than Yo). Suters ceiling is about as high as his floor. He's always been old for his level,he's a smart command guy. Dime a dozen. Jorge Ortega needs to develop at least a tiny bit of ability to miss a bat. At this point I'm not sure he could strike out a Middle School hitter. He's a bulldog with pin point command but you need more than that to get Big League hitters out game after game. He played in FSL, it's a pitchers heaven. Top hitter had what? A .750 OPS? I hope he can take a big step next year but as of now neither remotely even hold Lopez or Haders jock strap. Those are frontline, possible Aces type guys. Lucky to get Fiers & Estrada out of Suter & Ortega -
1. Orlando Arcia Not only is he hands down our top prospect but also a nearly universal top 10 prospect in all off baseball. Hope he can have a Lindoresque debut. 2. Brett Phillips Tool continue to develop, speed, average, on base, cannon arm, emerging power.... All he needs to do is cut the Ks down a bit. 2017 starting CF 3. Jorge Lopez Talk about a guy who has continue to grow each season! He is beginning to reach all his projections as he sits around 94 with dangerous curve and solid change. Very mature competitor on the mound. 4. Trent Clark Professional hitter, he does it all with a bat. He is solid in outfield. Most inportant work ethic and hustle are far beyond others his age....he even jogs back to dugout after K's! 5. Josh Hader Best Brewer lefty prospect since Parra or Braddock. Mid 90s arm with goofy arm slot make him extremely hard to hit. His off speed is improving. At 20 California League pitcher of year, 21 dominated AA including over 11ks per 9 & batting average below .200 vs him 6. Gilbert Lara Very young, very skilled, from what I have read can be a little lazy and doesn't like to alway hustle. Kid was essentially a high school junior this past year so I won't judge to much. Tools to be a star though. 7. Monte Harrison Freak athlete who can easily become an elite MILB prospect of he picks up in Wisconson where he left off in Helena. He's a weapon at plate & in the field. 8. Kodi Medeiros He had a very good very for an 18 year old playing 22 year olds. Has long way to go with consistency but he does have a very lively arm to work with 9. Clint Coulter Still had believe 2nd highest ops in FSL. Having a guy like him play in a place like that is difficult. He's a power hitter and I'm sure he will bounce back to hit .280 25 Hrs 85 RBIs next year in Biloxi 10. Jake Gatewood If this kid can put it all together, watch out! He's is definition of boom or bust. 11. Michael Reed Proved himself and got a September call up. Good things happen when u just get on base 12. Tyrone Taylor A top Brewer prospect and fringe top 100 prospect to now middle of the back and no longer CF of future....it was a rough year for Taylor to say the least 13. Devin Williams Young, hasn't really blown us away but he has been very solid showing promise. 14 Demi Orimoloye Demi God is not even a man, he is a myth! No man could possess so much size, power, speed, arm strength, and natural ability....he's good 15. Cody Ponce Will fly through system with a 96-98mph fastball and bulldog, attack you style 16. Adrian Houser Too low, at worst he will be a great arm in the bullpen. He's young, power arm, good off speed stuff and has pedigree as he was an early 2nd rd pick 17. Yadiel Rivera Took another leap forward, looks to be a top 2b,SS,3b utility man of the future 18. Tyler Wagner Not to high on him, his floor is equal to ceiling but could eat innings and give you lie to mid 4.00ERA at MLB level 19.Victor Roache Took a little stride forward this year as an overall better hitter, however, still ways to go. He to me is really comparable to a Khris Davis 20. Wei Chang Wang Kind of a forgot man now, rough start, strong 2nd half. Still younger (23) with pretty solid stuff with lefty arm 21. Brandon Diaz Unrated & overlooked a lot but after awful start he really turntable it up prior to season ending injury 22. Chris McFarland McFarland I believe could be an MLB starting 2b. There is nothing flashy about him, no tools that make you drool or that standout but he is just a well rounded baseball player. He is just solid as can be. No big holes in his game, no huge pluses...just goes out and plays good baseball 23. Joantgel Segovia Kid can flat out hit. May have no power...gap power for that matter but he just finds green all over the field at a very high clip. 24. David Denson Still waiting for him to put it all together, potential is there. Needs to figure it out, Perry is right on his heels. 25. Jorge Ortega Dominate. Best way to describe his season. Just throws strikes and attacks people. Now to really take another step, he will need to learn how to miss a bat....at least once in awhile This list is getter much tougher each time, a lot of guys I had to leave off!

Is Jorge Lopez a top 100 prospect in all of MILB?
Jenkins5 replied to molitor fan's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Jorge may be the top pitcher we have developed since Yo if he continues his rapid rise. How much better he gets every season is unreal! -
Honestly, slot value is all that matter this season for the difference between 3-5. Unless some drastic things happen and somehow this large amount of depth at the top breaks up, We are going to be in position to land someone who could be special. As of right now Alec Hansen seems to have pulled ahead as top pitching prospect with Blake Rutherford being the top Bat. They may both be gone. But I would like to know looking at draft, what do you feel is the drop off in talent from 3-5? We are going to get someone we want.

C.C. Sabathia checks into alcohol rehab center
Jenkins5 replied to trwi7's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
There is a lot of things that are more important than sports & playoffs. He has a family and children to worry about. He needs to do wants best for him and his family before what's best for the Yankees. Plus if your not right mentally as a pitcher, what good are you anyways? Good for CC, hope he gets things figured out. -
Considering all we see from a none base coach is them simply watching the game with their hands in their Brewer hoodies or a few visits to the mound...I think 98% is fair to say. Fans see absolutely nothing these coaches do. All the film, scouting reports, teaching, and etc. I trust Counsell kept the ones he has most faith and trust in. Sedat is a lifer, think he has been with organization for 23 straight years as a player, minor league instructor/manager, and MLB coach. Thing with Sedar is he is a teacher/coach. He use to work with all the low level guys in rookie ball, he is very passionate, personable, and a teacher and that's what they are looking for.

I think him and Ash will be gone. Minasian & Montgomory are two highly regarded, younger, top tier type of front office personal. No shock, that that the club wants to keep them. Montgomory has interviewed for GM jobs last year and it won't be long before Minasian starts to get some calls. Ash & Nichols are guys who have been here a long time, are older, and guys we need to move on from. Wouldn't shock me to see Zack or Ray promoted to Assistant GM if Stearns stays in house (more likely Minasian while Ray focuses in on rebuilding through draft with his top 5 pick

Should Khris Davis be traded?
Jenkins5 replied to Harold Hutchison's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Two issues about judging his RBI total 1) Davis really only played a little over half the season as an everyday player. Parra replaced often and he had the injury that kept in out for an extended amount of time. 2) Brewers don't get on base period. Braun & Lind are in same boat where if they were on a team that had guys capable for getting on base, they'd have over 100rbis. You got Segura and Gennett sitting at the top of the order repping sub .300 obp. Perez has a solid .270 obp.... Simply enough, it is hard to drive in guys when they are not on base. 243 PA with bases empty 17 HR/RBI's 197 PA with men on base 10 HRs 49 RBIs -120 of those PA's with men in scoring position where he hit only 5hrs and had 38 Rbis He has 27 HRs and 66 RBIs in 440 PA in only 108 starts..... not too bad -
With a top 5 pick we are set to get a front line/ Ace ceiling prospect or one of the few elite bats in draft.... Not a bad situation. However, as of now, if the draft had any combo of these 4 guys: Hansen, Groome, Rutherford, Pike off the board already.... I'd be less than thrilled. Lot of depth though up front in this draft.

2015-16 Minor League Miscellaneous Offseason Updates
Jenkins5 replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Pretty disappointing to hear about how bad Lara's attitude and effort is all the time. Not great traits to have in game of baseball. Hopefully he grows out of that soon but a 17/18 year old with a 3.2 million bank account is hard to gage -
What Should the Crew do this Offseason?
Jenkins5 replied to Crash2303's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Major thing is we need to move away from this Herb Kohl, old Mark A type approach to building a team. If you are going to rebuild/retool do it! Don't sign an Ace lock up Lucroy, keep Lind just to keep us sort of competitive over the next few years. Figure out who the core for your future is and trade from there. If Stearns isn't sure yet about Davis, Gennett, Segura, give them another year to prove their worth. I'm 100% committed to Braun in this retooling/rebuild however. I think you find a place for him. He is the first star player since Robin Yount to say and show he wanted to be a Brewer for life. Even through a rebuild I think that is important to have that constant. He is well worth the money in my opinion. I see him staying at least a .280 hitter with a high OBP hitting 25hrs & 90 rbis a season guy It's is important to remember that hardy hart weeks fielder didn't just come up and we took the league by storm. Took time to adjust and grow. Then Braun and Yo came up and sparked them to push them over top. Pirates, Cubs, and other top rebuilds the same way. Some think Arcia will come and the franchise will be saved Right way. Thing is, Arcia is not Braun and will not have the huge offensive impact as him or a Kris Bryant did right away. He will probably be closer to Frankie Lindor type impact. Good but not going turn around a team right away. Give him, 2-3 years to grow and improve. -
What Should the Crew do this Offseason?
Jenkins5 replied to Crash2303's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I completely disagree beyond belief about even looking into the price tag of an Ace in FA. You absolutely do not even consider a move like that until you are truly ready to compete. We are going to pay 20-30 million for a guy to lose for 2-3 seasons? When our new young core settles in & starts to produce and compete maybe but no sooner than that. Off season after 2018 if all goes to plan, possibly. Just cause we call up a bunch of 21-22 year olds like Phillips & Arcia, doesn't mean they will light the world on fire from day one and help lead team to greatness in 1st season or 2 -
Has he? Over the last month he's hitting .222/.308/.289. Since he became a fairly regular starter a couple weeks ago he's hitting .263/.349/.342. Much better than what it was but not so good that you keep playing a 29 year old basically career minor leaguer over a prospect that might actually be part of your future. That's what I was getting at. I don't agree or like it but since they gave him everyday time he is hitting like you said .260 with .700 OPS with good defense. Craig right now sadly like Macha seems to value decent career AAAA player performance over give a young potential solid MLB player some experience

Please look at draft history.... Really for their top picks they received for being god awful, Correa is the only one who really impacts system. You can't say they sucked so they got Springer at 11 or they sucked and got AJ Reed & McCullers in 1st rd Comp or second round. Being terrible only gets you a top pick, past that top 5-10 1st rd pick the rest is bases soley on scouting. Drafting & bringing in guys such as Domingo/Hader in trades. Those were young A ball guys they took flyers on. Unless you are trying to say by sucking for 5-6 years they were able to make trades and develop players is only way I can make sense of your point. Edit: can't spell on my phone

Not too worried about Clarks K rate, he is too professional of a hitter for that to be a career trend. I'll chalk it up 2 pro ball adjustments at 18. Did I read that right?! Hader rated 6th best pitcher in MILB?! Man are his numbers impressive! Most are sustainable as well (ks/9 may drop a bit back to 9ish). He Ks a ton and he is tough to make contact on. When batters actually do make contact they babip .270-.280 but his opp. BA usually sits .190-.210. If he can keep walks down, I really think he is a future #2/#3! Remember only 21 dominating AA Houston is built the way Brewers need to be. Trade away farm in Kazmir & Gonez/Firrs trade yet still }2 system in baseball. To be able to sell of Domingo, Phillips, Hader, Houser and simply shrug shoulders like its no big deal

Gomez and Fiers to Houston for four prospects
Jenkins5 replied to trwi7's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
[sarcasm]Yes, no good GM has ever been on the losing side of a trade. I think we should re-consider[/sarcasm] Exactly. 1) they still have all of next year with Gomez at only 8million or they can flip him for more top prospects this summer. Go Go is still a top notch player despite a down season. 2) They have Fiers for another 2-3 years at super cheap & he had tossed a no no for them (that alone almost makes it worth it for fans, we been waiting over 25 years) and overall he has been sharp since his horrible debut. They are a team going for it all so of course they are going to overpay a little bit in terms of prospects at deadline. I thought it was a very good deal on both sides of the table. In no way would I question Luhnow or Stearns abilities as a GM based on that. Luhnow & Stearns have seen the Astros win totals increase 20 wins a season about the last 3 years..... But yeah this Go Go/Fiers trade is a huge red flag..... -
Nelson shut down for season… Peralta too
Jenkins5 replied to 1992casey's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Jungmann has really died off, not sure if it is fatigue or his luck has finally ran out. He has been hit hard lately and struggling. Cravy should be in the Pen for good now but guess they just want a few more looks. Excited for the rookie 6 man rotation still! -
David Stearns named Milwaukee's new GM
Jenkins5 replied to markedman5's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
He is under contract and Stearns liked his draft. Ray is a very well respected baseball exec and scouting director, I doubt he goes anywhere unless offered either GM or Ast. GM somewhere else. I think the Brewers are in great shape at Pro & Amature Scouting Directors. They have really begun to infuse some talent into the system. We can not build simply through draft is true and we do need to make trades for high ceiling prospects to continue to over infuse our system with talent. Like the Astros or Bluejays, it is nice to be able to sell off your whole system and yet still be pretty darn strong. Santana to Houston was a throw in almost because they had absolutely nowhere for him on roster. It will be important to have that kind of depth so we do not destroy our whole future again if we need to go out and get another Greinke or CC. What I do 100% disagree with is participating in Free Agent market. I don't ever want Brewers to make a splash. Save money, lock in your own guys. I'm a Ted Thompson type guy. Playing 15 million for a Garza or a 20+ for a Hanley is crazy to me. Money much better spent saving for Arcia's career long, Braun type deal. Big FAs almost always eventually burn you. -
The problem then though is the situation we will have between Helena/Wisconsin where we have to many deserving OFs who are promising but nowhere to play them. Clark, Harrison, Stokes, Collymore, Demi, Belonis, Segovia, Martinez, Denson (plays out there a decent amount) Pierre....Possible hold overs like Rubio & Diaz who have a ton of upside but a still developing. You want BPA. While these picks take years to get to majors, a Rutheford, Beer, Banks could be in the Wisconsin/Helena mix my end of June....We will have OFs over pouring with limited talent at other keye positions.

2015-16 Minor League Miscellaneous Offseason Updates
Jenkins5 replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Drafted as SS, moved to 2nd, then OF. Wish he would move back to 2b due to the amount of OFs they have in that group. Much easier to seperate at 2b -
Only 3b I'm targeting is a high ceiling AA or AAA stud if we move Khris Davis or someone else. Build a core for future...don't throw away 22milion for no reason. Only ppl who should get that are our own guys to retain them.
