  1. Yup. All things considered, you take it. Would be worse to spend the A pen and lose in extras. Plus, Ashby is a positive. If everything holds, our magic number will be 17 v. Cards and Reds, so would have to win tomorrow to drop it again.
  2. I know it's 8-0. And Cain walk should have been a K. But that's nowhere close on Yelich.
  3. Just browsing schedules. My goodness is the Cards September brutal. Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, Reds. If they make the playoffs, they'll have earned every bit.
  4. I just really dislike the Cardinals. No matter. Bound for a stinker eventually. Hope the Tigers can hang and still knock one off the magic number.
  5. I still think the offense is going to put together some runs. But it sure does seem like the Brewers have dropped a lot of honest and openers...
  6. Long way to go in this one. I don't think 4 wins it.
  7. Replay makes no sense to me. There are different standards on different days. I think he was safe. But you can only tell with some serious, in-depth guesswork.
  8. It makes sense to me, he didn't pitch yesterday and we're trying to win obviously. Go with your best. Yeah, I get it. Just wondering if they'd also use Harder for the ninth. That's fine if they would. I don't mind aggressively going after wins. Just assuming they have much better rest analytics than my injury-paranoid gut.
  9. Surprised to see Williams, honestly. Although I guess this is why you sit him yesterday.
  10. Lack of a DH is the only thing stopping them. I would've been tempted to let him hit. He does have a HR.
  11. He hit it hard, but man. I think I could have got thrown out at third on that play.
  12. Oracle is something. I know it's more HR friendly this year, but Narvaez mashed that.
  13. Cousins threw 30 pitches last night, so he should be down. If you assume 3 from Box, Williams, Harder, you need 4 from Strickland, Norris, Topa, and whoever else is left. Edit: whoever else is left=Miller, unless Ashby is eligible to come out of the pen.
  14. Giants really need this one feels like. Don't want to drop behind the Dodgers. And Gausman brought it playoff style there. Wow. Hope they can get some good swings on that splitter as the game goes on.
  15. Requisite reminder about Wilmer Flores and hug watch. But only so we can all fondly recall Carlos Gomez, one of my all-time favorite Brewers.
  16. How about this one? That’s absolutely nuts. Two missed pitches all game, both on legit borderline strikes? Sign me up for that…. If regular umpiring was anywhere near that, amen. I'll take a consistent 95 percent. It really is amazing to me how little a lot of umpires seem to care about getting better. This is useful technology. Use it, man.
  17. I read somewhere that the Coens had Sam Elliot do one particular line like 13 times. After take 13 he asked them if there was something he could do differently. They said no. They got it on take two but just liked hearing him deliver the dialog. I size up people in my personal life by delivering this line (in a Sam Elliott drawl, of course) and seeing who gets it and who has no idea what I'm talking about. A useful test. I'm for it.
