  1. The Cardinals offense is just ridiculous. I mean wow. Otherworldly. Add in the Cubs pen...
  2. Alright, so 7 game lead, 9 to go. I'm trying to look at that in a vacuum right now because all that matters is winning the division and staying healthy while doing so. From now on, the Brewers and Cardinals are on the same schedule. Let's clinch this thing this weekend.
  3. Just for perspective, the Cards magic number is 17 to force game 163 and 18 to win the division outright....there are 19 games left, but only 13 where the teams don't play each other.
  4. The one change I would make in response to this is to throw Burnes tomorrow to line him up for Thursday's finale against STL on 5 days rest. That lets you throw Burnes and Peralta and Woodruff and Burnes in 4 of the next 6. If you can't win 2 of those, you got bigger problems.
  5. We'll have a sense of whether to worry by Sunday. I have a feeling the Cubs are going to be better than people think against the Cards. One Cardinal loss in four games there, including a DH tomorrow, and the math flips completely. Here's the truth: If the Brewer lose the division, they'll deserve it. And then will have to dust themselves off and win a one-game playoff. Being up 7.5 with 9 to go is where you want to be.
  6. The AmFam roof committee is right up there with Cubs postponement deciders in terms of illogical decision-making. Thankfully, their choices don't really all that much.
  7. The old reset button is getting it's first real workout of the season. Let's hope this is the last time it needs pressing.
  8. Well, a position player getting a K is always fun.
  9. Escobar is a pop-up machine lately. Offense really needs to get it together. With Wainwright starting and Carpenter probably playing for Arenado, that'll be a lot of bad Cardinals memories in the lineup.
  10. Yes, good job by Gustave. Anderson was horrible, but this is still a game if Escobar makes a routine play. Really hope Houser can put up a few early zeroes and Ashby can hand it to the Frosty Boys tomorrow
  11. 98 OPS+ to 91 for the Brewers. Yeah, it's closer than I thought...I think I'd still take that Royals offense if given the choice, but maybe that's splitting hairs...
  12. It is rare, but the Royals and Giants (twice) have won championships without a superstar stud in the lineup in the last decade. That Royals team was DEEP, though. Giants too. I get the point, of course. I just think those offenses were probably better than this one? Just a gut reaction...
  13. Since late-2019, Yelich has been Ian Happ. So, yeah. If he's not a stud, you really need to get lucky to score a ton of playoff runs.
