  1. At least Yelich has always had a bad arm, and we knew it when we signed him... Man. Alright. Get outta this, and let's load it up again.
  2. CC has a bit of a tennis mentality in these 9th-inning ties. Get the ball back over, even if it seems the guy's got an easy overhead slam. You just never know Hope it works tonight. This would be a big one. I'm not all that confident. But the Bucks win at least is really cool.
  3. Trying out new closers is a perk of having a decent-sized division lead, I guess? Be huge if Taylor could come through here.
  4. Yeah, I might take a shot at letting someone else get a normal inning here, rather than needing to hold with the free runner. Hope the Brewers can get to 10th and cash a few.
  5. An escape there. Hoping the top of the order can come through. Don't want to go to extras with what's left in the pen...
  6. Two righties in the 8th for the Reds, two lefties in the 9th. So, probably Box then Hader by any calculation (yes, I know we know Hader gets the ninth no matter what these days anyway).
  7. Narvaez has been very good, but he's struggling with the bat lately. Might be time to drop him a bit in the order.
  8. Better now, I guess. Strickland's about to see some high-leverage innings. Hope it's not the bad kind of right elbow discomfort? As if, maybe, there might be an okay kind.
  9. My recollection is that umps are allowed to award home on that Adames play, and they should have. Maybe I'm wrong.
  10. Trying not to get too worked up here....long way to go. Tonight was sort of the one the Crew would've liked to turn up the heat. Feel good about your chances tossing Woody and Burnes the next two. Still, as someone said, that script can flip real quick... Hoping the offense can find it and tonight and restore some bounce to this team.
  11. Yeah, although no umpire in the league would've called that a strike. Missed his spot, and Omar had to dive for it.
  12. Great American Ballbark. Is it still called that? Can't keep up with tge name changes. Seem to remember the Crew playing a lot of like 8-6 and a few 13-12 kind of games.
  13. Think this might end up one of those GAB games. Hope Houser can settle because the offense has runs in it tonight.
  14. Van Gundy mentioned this last night, but his rebounding is obvious. Reminds me of some of those UW guards who really outboarded their position (Gasser comes to mind). Obviously PC is much better than those guys all around, but his play off missed shots adds value.
  15. Crowder had the highest +/- for the Suns in Game 1 at +19 33 minutes 0-8 FG 0-5 3PT 1-2 FT 9 REB 2 TO ONE POINT That stat makes no sense to me, at all. Didn't see this was Game 1 at first. My fault. But yeah. I always thought plus/minis was more useful long-term. Over the season. When some of those other factors (opponent, opponent's lineup, etc.) get added up and are less prone to variation.
  16. Well thought out and reasoned. Agree with most of it. Where we probably differ is just the definition of "crisis." MLB has the advantage of a huge amount of tradition that will drive fans to games in person. There are loads of reasons to go independent of how good the team is, and this will insulate them from SOME economic impacts. The other thing is: the NFL is king (not just among sports either). The rest of pro sports leagues are just trying to maintain a quarter of the audience share. What does a drop off look like for MLB? What's the floor? Is it the NHL? MLS? Neither of those leagues are blowing up the ratings, but their engaged fan base keeps them in healthy revenue. I have a hard time seeing baseball dropping below those levels, and the NHL TV situation is just like baseball's...
  17. Had a good run in the league. Much better than I would've thought as a sophomore, and about in line with his skill set by the time he graduated. Dekker's the guy I thought might have a chance to be real good as a pro. Kind of a Duncan Robinson type, though injuries really ended up tanking his NBA career. Devin Harris will probably go down as the best pro I really remember in a Wisconsin uniform. I was a bit on the young side for Finley. Big win for the Bucks last night. Hoping this is the reverse of that Toronto series from 19.
  18. Not sure what you're saying here. Like, you shouldn't have to actually stay on the base? Within limits, but yeah. You should be able to stay above the base after initial contact, and a fraction of an inch off shouldn't mean you're out. I really dislike treating the base like a deified object.
