  1. Need an easy inning from Anderson here. I am getting way too worked up about a still fairly meaningless August baseball game.
  2. 7-inning games can really turn quick. Need a big one from the offense. Infield defense has definitely been a liability lately....but you trade that for production as someone else said somewhere...
  3. I hope I don’t see it again for a long time. I don’t like seeing a hitter with some power bunting with two outs. I don't mind it...if you can show an ability to do it, it at least makes folks think a little bit in the shift. Man, soft contact hurting Anderson here. Hope he can get out of here 3-1.
  4. 2014 was just evil. But that team felt like smoke and mirrors all season too. I will always be nervous until the Brewers clinch. That year amped up my anxiety on division leads and made me realize how long the season really is. This 19 game stretch against Cubs, Pirates, Cards, Nats, Reds, Twins will go a long way toward how I feel about September. If we can put up like a 13-6 and keep at an 8-game lead, then I'll feel very confident. 6 games or under I'll be nervous. Totally arbitrary, but September is just a weird month. Always feels like some scrub team gets hot and relishes spoiler and then a bunch of other teams are just giving away games. 4-0 start. Let's get to 6 tomorrow.
  5. Since this is the optimism thread, I suppose we can ask… what would be the best [or most fun] potential World Series matchup for the Brewers? Here are my thoughts… 1) White Sox - Would be some great pitching matchups, and sort of fun that all of the games (home and away) would be easily drivable for local fans. It could trigger some PTSD with having to see LaRussa’s mug all series. 2) Blue Jays - This series would be filled with some really great pitcher (Brewers) versus hitter (Blue Jays) matchups. 3) Oakland - I think this is the matchup I would feel most confident in, so that moves it up the list. 4) Rays - I would spend the series worried the Brewers were going to be outsmarted at every turn, and I’d be a little concerned about scoring enough runs against them. The Adames angle would be fun, but I would also be worried about whether he would be able to do anything offensively at the Trop. 5) Astros - I wouldn’t want to play the Astros, but it’d pretty much guarantee >90% of America was rooting for the Brewers. 6) Red Sox / Yankees - Seems like the whole series would just be framed in narratives about what Boston or New York was doing right/wrong versus anything the Brewers were doing. This is fun! I would probably have the Jays and Rays 1-2 because I like those teams. The possibility of losing to LaRussa...I can't. It would make a WS appearance less fun because of just not wanting to lose to that guy. Otherwise, I am about in line with this. Brewers in 6, no matter the opponent!
  6. I just can't forgive Field of Dreams the movie for having Shoeless Joe hit right-handed. But Shoeless Joe, the book the movie is based on is great, and the game last night was pretty cool. Nice set up and a fun game. So...mixed feelings from me, I guess, but I'm glad to have the game do so well. Nice to have some positive headlines for a change.
  7. He couldn't see in Tampa...I think that was a real issue, or enough of a mental one to make him moveable...
  8. Levering says he's only thrown 3 changeups all inning. Gameday agrees. Jeff and Lane are on the same page as you, wondering why so few...
  9. Got hit with the throw on shoulder. Took a bounce and got his face a bit. Dirt in his eye. Nothing muscle-related from the look. Should be alright.
  10. Escobar is showing himself to be a good pickup. I was nervous there for a second, but thankfully he looks okay.
  11. Nice to get Wisdom and Happ to end the inning in a two on, no out situation. Those are the guys that look most likely to hurt you today. I'll never complain about 3 of 4, but these next 4 feel like a chance to pick up ground. I was hoping to be up 8 at the end of the day on Sunday. Now, I feel greedy.
  12. Ortega and Wisdom must be accounting for a good chunk of the Cubs offense this series. Don't want to be playing from behind against Hendricks.
  13. Yeah, I'm kind of of the "win your games" school, but winning the division is just really cool independent of the postseason. So any little bit that brings that closer is all great for me.
  14. Would be tempted to go Lindblom tonight against Arrieta and save Burnes for Hemdricks tomorrow. Especially with weather. Still, I understand pressing an advantage if you think you have one. Good news is looks like scattered t-storms, so a bit more optimistic than last night.
  15. Curtiss hasn't quite found it yet. Lots of hard contact as a Brewer. Think he'll settle in, but certainly not a good start...
  16. Reds have lost. Chance to get back those two from the weekend if we can grab this one.
