  1. Wasted chance. Now more pressure innings. Hopefully that limited Gore's leash a little. The more ABs against this pen, the better.
  2. In my memory, Sabathia pitched a complete game shutout and hit a so home run to provide the only offense in a 1-0 victory like 5 times. I suppose it was probably only once or twice in reality...still. that dude.
  3. If ever there was a time for a shutdown inning, Freddy...
  4. And that'll restore a little order around here. Long way to go, but now Gray is gone. If any team needed a 4-run frame, it was these guys.
  5. I'm telling you, Turang has looked darn good lately.
  6. 3 walks this inning for Gray. Gotta make him pay.
  7. We're a LONG way from that. I completely on both the 2018 and 2019 teams. Both got very hot in pretty unlikely ways (especially 2019). It sucks to be losing to the Nats again. It's also the third inning. If this division ends up historically bad, it's still going to take 82 wins to clinch it (I think it's going to take at least 85). The Reds have 59 wins as I write. The Cubs have 53. Honestly, this division is going to be decided when somebody wins 8 of 10 in September. And any of the three contenders seem equally likely to do that.
  8. If the playoffs started today, we'd be in them. One loss in July means nothing. Still plenty of time to get on a roll. Start tonight.
  9. I think Call went. Check swings are a black box. Elvis going to have to turn into Houdini here.
  10. I get the frustration when the Reds are up like 4 runs every night, but all the Brewers have to do is win during this stretch. Win, and you gain on someone. Playoffs are the goal.
  11. Over these next 13, the biggest thing is just winning our games. There are bunch of series featuring playoff contenders versus playoff contenders (Giants-Dbacks, Reds-Cubs, Phillies-Marlins). Put together a good run here, and we'll have a little cushion when the schedule toughens back up in a couple of weeks, pretty much no matter what. Of course, the Brewers struggled against the likes of the Tigers and A's earlier this year, so who knows? I will say: they're in the right part of their rotation right now. Here's hoping for a 5-2 week at least.
  12. Yeah, I really don't see Turang going down anytime soon. Toro or Jahmai Jones seem the liveliest candidates to be in Nashville before too long.
  13. Pirates taking a flyer on a lottery ticket. Brewers get immediate help, from a surplus position. Sounds like the prerequisites for an in-division trade. We needed a bat, and this is about the lowest price it was going to take to get immediate help.
  14. Don't look now, but the Cubs are playing really good baseball. Still 6 out in the division, but only 4.5 out of that last WC spot. They have the best run differential in the division. Ultimately, I don't that bullpen is good enough to lock down a playoff spot. But it certainly doesn't look like full-on "sell" mode on the north side. Fangraphs has the Brewers at 77% to make the playoffs and about 70% to win the division. Should be favorites, but the Cubs do have the weakest remaining schedule.
  15. Can't be disappointed about that homestand. Hold your own against Atlanta, and then try to feast on the Nats, Rockies, and Pirates. Awesome job by the bullpen again. 10-3 against the Reds is really, really impressive.
  16. Contreras pick up Brice! Let's go, Crew!
  17. He's been so good...bad time for that to happen, Bear down, Elvis.
  18. I'm feeling very nervous about Peguero here. At some point, the Reds are going to get to this bullpen. I don't have anything more I can say about the offense. Sigh.
  19. I think that was on Weimer. That ball was a double all the way, and he didn't read the slice. Tough task, granted, but he'd have been out by a ways at home. The contact play is bad, but Contreras has to elevate that if he's swinging first pitch.
  20. Well, Diaz may be down for tomorrow now. That's not a bad consolation prize if this ends up 4-3.
  21. Caratini's almost hit changed that whole inning. Still 6 outs to play with against a bullpen with a lot of miles on it. Need to keep this in range.
  22. Turang has also put together some really good ABs lately. Scorched an out in the 8th last night. Had a bad K early. He's not an MLB hitters yet. But there's progress. When the rest of his game is as good as it is, that's enough.
  23. Farmer had to be hurt, right? Once he's announced he has to face 3 hitters? Anyone know the rule for sure?
  24. Quietly, Rae has done alright for himself.
  25. Runner at third and less than 2 outs 3 innings in a row. No runs. That about sums up the Brewers offense the last two seasons.
