  1. Massive win, and, as someone mentioned yesterday, taking the season series against the Reds may matter. 2 wins away from that.
  2. Shows what I know betting on the over today, haha.
  3. Watching the replay of the Perkins double play. Too much to ask for Miller to just stop and start backpedaling to first?
  4. Yelich does not seem nearly as fast as our announcers are always saying. He's a GREAT baserunner, but that looked like it should have been a lot closer of a play at first, especially given what Turang just did on a ground ball to second. I'm not complaining. Just wondering what the heck Rock and BA keep talking about.
  5. Yeah, all good stuff. I don't what to think about Anderson. I hope you're right, but I think he is the classic "just a guy." Hopefully a hot stretch is coming, though.
  6. Yeah, the problem is you have to splice together a bunch of camera angles and average them out. Hawkeye in tennis takes like a full minute by the time all is said and done. That's a long time to wait for a call with a 3 mm margin of error (which is ridiculously tiny, I know, but very often the difference between swing and no swing).
  7. The other thing on check swings (as the Brewers are about to drop this one) is that there isn't a rule book definition on them, at least not a concrete one. So that's got to change first. I'm just hoping baseball can figure out a way to properly integrate technology. Soccer has been mostly a mess. Hockey does it great (though that's partly down to the nature of the game). Positives from this one: Uribe. Payamps and Devin are both good for tomorrow, plus we'll have a starter capable of multiple innings if needed. Adames is really starting to hit it hard. Reds had to use a lot of bullpen guys. I think the Brewers are going to be in playoff contention all the way to the end. Take 2 of 3 tomorrow and this homestand has been a success.
  8. Is there actually some tech in development to automate that? I'd be fascinated if that were the case...I just feel like, given the speed and size of the bat head (and the difficulty of getting a perfect overhead angle), even an automated call is going to have a margin of error that essentially replicates where we are now. Meaning, instead of the umpire guessing, it'll just be the technology. I suppose you could embed trackers in the bat (but which part?) and cameras at the very front of the plate (but how big are the cameras?), but that seems like it would be tough. And now the crappy balk call costs the Brewers a run.
  9. Problem is, no amount of automation is going to help check swings. Check swings are the nobody-knows-what-happened zone of baseball. It's just a totally subjective call in a lot of cases and always will be. I also blame Anderson on De La Cruz's awesome (though frustrating) steal of home. You just have to at least pretend you might move back toward third.
  10. The Brewers are going to get a walk-off win today. It's going to be excruciating but awesome. I feel it.
  11. I am not that worried about using Williams. Payamps and Peguero get days, and Houser or Teheran will be available for BP duty over the next two days. Get the win, win the series tomorrow, get greedy Sunday.
  12. My dad once told me the biggest difference in baseball is the difference between a 4-run lead and a 5-run lead. I think about that a lot.
  13. 106 mph off-the-bat from Anderson. I guess that's either one for the "exit velo" is overrated crowd or one for "launch angle" crowd. Shutdown inning would be awesome.
  14. Let's get into this Reds bullpen. I want our top guys getting a rest tonight!
  15. Love the way the offense has been playing lately. We've had the "never out of it" quality we've admired in the Reds the last week anyway. That's something!
  16. Sure, but we're still very SSS right now. I mean, I think the Reds are good. Their young players have been awesome. But it's pretty common for really good rookie players to fall off after the ASB. Pitchers make adjustments, can the hitters adjust back, etc. I don't know what's going to happen. But it's not crazy to think the Reds are about a .500 "true talent" team that's had a really good stretch. I think there's less uncertainty around the Brewers. They are a .500 team that tries to push closer to .540 by winning a lot of close games. They'll be between 79 and 85 wins probably. I could see the Reds anywhere from 80 to 95.
  17. If Burnes wanted to toss a CG shutout tomorrow, I would not complain.
  18. I think 2-2 is a fair result. Cubs really should've won Games 1 and 2, and Brewers should have won 3 and 4. Still, both teams will be really upset not to have taken 3 of 4. Sounds like Brewers-Cubs to me. Now if the Nats can just steal this game in Washington, that would really be nice.
  19. I don't care what anyone says. Yelchin has earned every dollar the Brewers will pay him. And not just because he hit a massive danger today.
  20. Today I am wondering if 1 run might be enough.
  21. Lol. Yup. Yup, it does. Owen Miller really struggles at first base. That's a tough throw for sure (and the pick was great), but I've seen firstbasemen make that play look easy.
  22. Fifth, right? Went down 2-0 in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Sure would be nice to score first one of these days. Stroman has Yelich's number for sure.
  23. Well, the Reds have entered a rain delay in DC. Looks like they'll be able to get the game in, but a longer delay is obviously better for the Brewers, both in terms of pitching and travel.
