  1. first bad call of the night. segura should've not been bunting

  3. game will be played. huge game tonight. the team has to start beating their division rivals. gallardo needs a good performance. he has yet to have that trademark big strikeout game.
  4. @monty what do you think we could get in return for gallardo? i don't think that there is anyone in the minors that projects to be as good as gallardo. from what i have heard all we have is a bunch of 2's and 3's in the system. gallardo may not be a kershaw, but he's still a #1 type of pitcher. i agree that it doesn't hurt to ask around. not even ryan braun is untouchable. if you can get a ridiculous deal for braun you have to consider it. the brewers aren't the yankees, so this is stuff that the team has to consider. i personally wouldn't trade him unless the return was really really good. it would have to be a prospect that is ready to go.
  5. era and whip arent the only stats, but they are arguably the most important. a good whip tells me he keeps the bases clean. a good era tells he keeps the scoreboard clean. we can assume that gallardo for the rest of his career is going to be that 3.3 to 3.8 era guy. he will have 200 strikeouts a year. you don't trade away that kind of productivity just because he can't go 7 or 8 most of the time. those relievers aren't sissys. those guys pitch at least 2 innings. the era of pitch counts has turned these guys into softies.
  6. Only way I would trade gallardo is if we get a huge return. I'm talking big time pitching prospects. We have nothing behind gallardo. Willy is too young and not a sure thing. No one else is a #1. Gallardo may not be a pure #1, but he's still a damn good pitcher. To me he's a low 1 very high 2 kind of pitcher. He's in the category of #1's that come after the kershaw's and verlander's. this trade talk always happens in April. He will settle down like he always does. Who cares if goes 6 innings instead of 7. As long as posts a good era and whip all is good.
  7. I feel bad for mat gamel. He was once thought as a big time prospect. A combination of bad luck, injuries, and mismanagement ruined his career. I still think Casey McGhee was the worst thing to happen to gamel. If McGhee had never gone on his hot streak, gamel would have been called up sooner. Macha couldn't really justify playing him because of mcghee's good play. The brewers should have trades gamel when they had the chance. Weren't there rumors of a gamel for Roy halladay trade? It was either gamel or alcides Escobar that was linked to Halliday.
  8. There's a lot to be excited about. Gomez looks like he's finally to starting to get ''IT''. Jean Segura is playing at an elite level. I'm excited that the team might finally have a legit SS since lord knows when. Aramis is back and will heat up. The offense is kicking @ss without Corey Hart. Wait until Hart gets back. Aoki is really fun to watch. He does all of the little smart things that most guys don't do. Hiram Burgos looked really good in 3 starts. I am excited to watch him pitch. I am interested in watching how Willy will develop the rest of the year. I looked at the schedule and I still think we can win 86 to 88 games even if we lose the majority of the remaining Reds/Cards series. This team might not have a lot of fire or attitude, but the development and play of certain players is interesting to watch. I do miss that attitude the team used to have. Prince was a fiery guy. It's still early in the season. How many teams have started out with a bang in the first half and then fell apart in the second half? I'm content with the Brewers hanging around .500 for most of the first half. This is a marathon not a sprint. By July we will know if this team is capable of getting hot and going to the playoffs. The Dodgers don't impress me. Brewers have already swept the Giants. The D-Back can be beat. Pittsburgh is our b!tch. We have yet to play the Reds. The only teams that scare me are St. Louis and Atlanta. Washington is beatable this year. When everyone is healthy, the lineup will go into beast mode. I think our bullpen is one solid 8th inning guy away from being consistently reliable. Henderson can get the job done. Gorzolanny has been very reliable. Badenhop has been alright. Figaro has been decent. Narveson is on his way back. The rotation will be fine. Gallardo will settle down like always, Lohse will continue to be reliable, Peralta will do a decent job for a rookie, Burgos will kick @ss, Marco will settle down. Relax my Brewer brother, it's early in the season. The Cardinal series put me in a pretty down mood regarding the team too. You just have to think positive. The Brewers play a bunch of other teams besides St. Louis.
  9. Seems like an exaggeration. Isn't Lucroy .35 points higher in BA, .60 points higher in SLG, and .35 higher in OPS? I could probably agree with 'awful', but not every bit as bad as Weeks. (And that's not even factoring in Weeks' little league defense....) Lucroy's been bad this year but not Weeks bad. Lucroy will be fine.
  10. mike gonzalez is awful. im surprised by how bad he has been. i was real happy that we signed him in the offseason. i thought that he was going to be a reliable veteran that would lock down the 8th inning spot. he just sucks. this should still be a 2 run game.
  11. that is ace stuff dude. his problem is control. if he can work that out we might have another ace. willy is very young.
  12. That lineup would have been the best in baseball by a landslide. Braun, Fielder, Cruz, Hart, good Weeks, Hardy. Yikes! Though I kind of have this rep as a calm fan who can see the big picture/long view of things, if the Brewers had retained Nelson Cruz, gotten as close to a WS title as the 2011 Rangers did, and missed out on a play like Cruz made (didn't make) in the 2011 WS...I might have gone postal. Obviously not trading Cruz wouldn't have guaranteed any WS appearances, but man. I wonder if he's regarded by Rangers fans the way Bill Buckner was in Boston. Back to reality: almost any outcome tonight would have been an improvement over Sunday's game, but it was heartening to see the home team win again, finally. Let's ponder who currently leads the team in HR and RBI. Yup. I would have crapped myself if that had happened. I think a Brewers team with Cruz has enough offense to beat the Lardinals
  13. That lineup would have been the best in baseball by a landslide. Braun, Fielder, Cruz, Hart, good Weeks, Hardy. Yikes!
  14. I'd be happy with their Noah Syndergaard, lol. one of these days im going to a 51's game. they are the AAA affiliate of the Muts. I want to see how good this Wheeler kid is.
  15. how nice would it be if the Brewers had a matt harvey like prospect? how about a zach wheeler?
  16. The Ranger broadcasters said that Peralta's strikeout pitch is the slider, and at least thus far, he's not getting good command on it. They pointed to that as the reason for his lower strikeout total in the Majors. If he can start to control that slider he will be a real tough guy to deal with.
  17. You make it sound like he's at best a #4. Yes the state of our farm system isn't that great when it comes to pitching. There are guys there though Right now? He is at best a #4. Has the "potential" to be a #2. But, so did Parra. He's got ace caliber stuff. If he can fix his control problems he could be a #1. The team has to do a better job when it comes to pitching prospects. Peralta's the only guy with ace potential. Everyone else is at best a #3.

  19. Aramis better redeem himself later. He struck out with the bases loaded and is at fault for a run maybe two.
