  1. I want this lead so big that we could trust Boone Logan to pitch...
  2. Reminder, this Cubs offense is good. Pile on the runs....
  3. Why would they pull Rizzo? Are they throwing in the towel down 3-1? That seems crazy...
  4. Lol at Russell swinging at that pitch. Man, what was the best thing he could do with that?
  5. These Cubs hitters are thinking way too much about the umpire and not nearly enough about the pitcher. Contreras shaking his head at the 0-1 strike call...what a dope. Get your head in the game...or don't I guess, keep thinking about the umpire and striking out if you want.
  6. Funny, Miley went from being the guy that gets a starting gig if like 3 SP get hurt in spring...to a guy I'd really like us to have a club option for 2019.
  7. Cardinals score just rolled through and is 4-3 now. Chip away Nationals!
  8. What is Jesus getting all riled up about? Both pitches he asked about were easy easy strikes, well within the black.
  9. As for the electronic strike zone. I do wonder how they'd quickly adjust it for someone like Orf or Scooter and then for someone like Broxton or Bryant. Very different zones.
  10. Agreed, Arcia was pitched mostly inside that atbat. Backdoor cutter, nice pitch. Also you can question whether Miley should have taken a middle middle fastball on 2-1 but I'm ok with it. Every pitch the pitcher sees in his at bats is a win. Plus, the spotty command...the next 2 pitches could very well have been off the plate.
  11. I appreciate the patience at the plate that half inning. 30 pitch inning for montgomery. A quick inning would be huge, don't give Montgomery much of a breather and have to face the top of the order...
  12. Every player makes some terrible errors. Cain just yesterday for example. And I wouldn't say the 2nd inning is an awful time. I don't know that I'd call that a terrible error. He tried being quick to go home and bobbled...then made a bad throw to 1st. It was a good thought, and a tough effort.
  13. Shaw looks hungry in general, I feel like he has a swagger about him today. I'm expecting a big day at the plate. I may have just jinxed him to an 0-4 day with that comment...we'll see.
  14. This isn't good for the game. Last year, I felt like we were on the other end of this. Would much rather see a fairly called game and let the players decide the outcome.
  15. The umps need to get those right. Don't really want to give Maddon and Cubs fans a leg to stand on. I'm glad they got strike 4 right...
  16. I love how Cain held the bat. Might as well set it down 3-0 there...
  17. Agreed, a ton of movement. I felt like he wasn't exactly sharp with his command but he was relatively close on hit spots most pitches. Overall, a good start. Clearly the guy to be careful with in this lineup is Rizzo above all others, don't mind putting him on base.
  18. GG to make his first start Saturday against the Giants. Guerra to the pen.
  19. I've actually found it a bit strange that everyone assumes this. Schoop has been a reverse splits guy every year of his career except 2017. Much better against RHP than LHP.
  20. I'd love to see us go after Garrett Richards. Kershaw and maybe Bumgarner are the only guys on that list with better stuff than him, and I doubt either player changes teams.
  21. Do they really do this with innings limits? Most starters who have pitched full years before seem to come back and pick up where they left off innings wise I agree, they probably won't have much of an innings limit if any. Usually the guys coming off injury that get an innings limit are younger dudes, Strasburg and Harvey were much younger than Nelson when coming back from injury...innings limits made sense. Nelson is 29. Good to go.
  22. The thing is you need to warm him up before it gets to that scenario (and you don't know that the scenario is working out that way). So the pitcher gets two guys out, but two get on right away - Hader hasn't even started to warm up. So unless they throw over to first 10 times and have a couple of mound visits, it doesn't matter. No to using Hader there. We have other lefties for that. Ideally Cedeno, not Jennings.
  23. I wouldn't assume that. He's made something like 2 appearances and he doesn't pass the eye test for me. His stuff isn't really THAT good. The only reason he has a shot at that role is because Jennings has been so bad as the situational lefty. Jennings is still the better pitcher of the 2.
  24. This is the end result of using all your relievers every day for basically the entire month...it was amazing how often I'd tune into a cubs game this past month and they'd be on their 4th reliever in a given inning. I love all the praise he gets for it too, as if more moves automatically makes you a genius manager.
