  1. Notable omissions based on my limited knowledge include Lemons, Murphy, and Pierre.
  2. In all fairness, does it really matter? He made a catch of very high degree of difficulty. That is indisputable. Solved!
  3. Guys, Arcia is definitely a black hole with the bat but his defense is still outstanding. He's the best option we have at the position at present. Overall, I like our lineup today better than the Cubs lineup. We have most of our best players going today while the Cubs are sitting Bryant and Contreras.
  4. Yeah he's absolutely lost at the plate. It's like Villar last year only worse. He needs AAA at bats, we just need someone to replace him that can play good defense.
  5. Hahahaha, I was so irritated when I saw Shaw swing at that pitch...and then it rolled down the right field line for 2 runs. In fairness, that is his pitch.
  6. I've never really paid much attention to Chatwood, but he has some really strange mechanics. It's like he's flailing, limbs are flying everywhere. No wonder he struggles with command...I don't see that getting any better. Hard to argue with 2 hits in 2 at bats, but we should be taking more pitches.
  7. Anderson has hit 95 multiple times and a 96 on that K on Rizzo. Best velocity he's had all season, and he really needs to be up in the mid 90s to be better than a low 4s ERA pitcher.
  8. Well it's Thames, Yelich, Cain, Shaw, Santana, Villar, and 2 guys that need the bat glued to their shoulder...Pina/Arcia. I don't hate the lineup, hopefully Pina and Arcia can get on base to some degree and give Thames some rbi opportunities.
  9. Nice to see us get a fresh arm up. This makes me even more annoyed that CC didn't pull Albers sooner.
  10. The best way for the small markets to compete is to either be elite at developing/cycling talent and/or have enough big markets sign too many bad contracts. It definitely is unfortunate that the big markets are getting smarter with their contracts. I feel like 5 years ago some dinosaur GM's would have paid off Morrison, Moustakas, Cobb, etc on 4-6 year deals. The Brewers definitely have a lot of talent in the system as a whole now, primarly through trades though. I think the Brewers are very good at identifying talent and finding value in both FA and the draft, but I'm less confident in our coaching/development. We also haven't had the luxury of drafting in the top 10 for 5 straight years...and then touted how great our talent development is when those top 10 picks all made the majors.
  11. We should go with an all patience lineup today. I would do Cain, Yelich, Braun, Shaw, Thames, Villar, Kratz, Sogard, P. The goal being to keep the Perez/Arcia/Pina type hitters from getting themselves out. It will probably be Pina instead of Kratz today, and if it's Arcia...someone should seriously glue the bat to his jersey so he can't swing. There's also a good chance Braun gets the day off after playing so many innings yesterday...leaving him available for the lefty tomorrow. I suspect CC will do Villar, Yelich, Cain, Shaw, Thames, Santana, Pina, Sogard.
  12. Yep, there have always been a lot of Cubs fans at these games at Miller Park but now that they are good, I have never seen more arrogant, obnoxious fans. Of course, a lot of these "fans" have just come out of the woodwork the last few years and they're the most obnoxious ones. Also, a ton of the Cubs fans that go to these games are Wisconsinites. This state is loaded with Cub fans. Just go to a sporting goods store around the state, it's damn near 50-50 Brewers/Cubs gear. At the game yesterday, a camera panned over a fan sign that read "where were all you Cubs fans before 2015". Great stuff.
  13. I'm curious, who does the bolding of the info on the draft selection/signing thread? I see a number of higher picks listed as signed in that thread including Bello, yet I've seen no confirmation on that from any other source. I'm wondering where the information is coming from.
  14. This is a weird thread. I think it's really tough to know how much of an impact Coles is making on players from where we are. You can look at Arcia and be critical, or look at Thames eventual turnaround last season and applaud Coles. You can look at Villar returning to form, or Sogard falling apart. Was Coles around for Khris Davis's resurgence? I don't honestly know how anyone can have a strong feeling either way on a hitting coach. Certain hitters failing doesn't mean the coach is failing, and certain hitters exceeding doesn't mean the coach gets all the credit.
  15. Arcia is a gift that keeps on giving... I'm glad I'm not the only one who read that and my blood boiled for that guy even more.... is it Miller time yet??????? He's telling the 2B who isn't looking back at the infield that the runner is coming and he needs to tag him. That's his JOB as a SS in that situation. I didn't really see an issue with this either. If he can't handle the added pressure of being told a runner is coming to 2nd, exactly what level of pressure can he handle? Is he going to completely miss the ball in a late September or October game? That's an absolutely dreadful excuse for making a mistake...
  16. So take advantage of it and jack the tickets for Brewers/Cubs game up to $200 for terrace reserve seats and $50 for general parking. Bleed them dry if they want to come. Fixed
  17. I see no problem selling tickets to Cubs fans, I do it often enough with my 20 pack...helps me pay for it. They'll find their way in if they want to get in, whether it's my tickets or someone elses or buying from the brewers ticket office. One other kick I got out of this game(along with every other Cubs game) is how excited their fans get for medium deep fly balls. I remember one specific one yesterday, clearly off the trademark based on the sound...extremely loud cheers as Braun jogs in maybe 20 feet and makes a routine catch. You would think after a while, even a fringe intelligent human being would figure out the difference between a HR and a shallow-medium deep fly ball.
  18. This is absolutely fair, I don't know why Villar has such a hard time with tags. On SB attempts as well that type of thing happens so often to him. I'd bet 90% of all 2b in the minors make that play consistently...that was as routine as it gets considering the throw from Cain.
  19. I was at the game yesterday, the single best part of the game for me was watching Schwarber try playing left field. That guy is an absolute disaster out there, most of my bar league softball team is better in the outfield than him. It's actually hilarious. Aside from that, I felt like CC was trying too hard to be efficient with his relievers. It was pretty clear early on that Hader didn't have his A grade stuff. Wasn't hitting his spots like he does and couldn't really command his slider well. I felt like CC should have had a quicker hook with him. I also was a bit surprised that Jeffress wasn't sent out for a 2nd inning. I'm sure CC was thinking he wanted him available Tuesday, but getting through that inning could have been huge as the top of the order was coming up. I thought it made sense to keep your best out there for 1 more inning and give the top of your order another shot to break through for the win before going to your lesser relievers. But the efficiency thing generally bugs me. We have 8 guys in the pen and most have barely pitched at all over the last week or so due to off days and whatnot. Heck that's probably part of why Hader and Knebel didn't have their A game. Albers clearly didn't have it either, it was like a hit parade up there. Turn to Barnes or Williams sooner while it's still a 1 run game with a couple runners on and give our guys a chance. Don't let it blow up to a 7-2 game trying to save a ton of relievers. If it really gets bad, you can swap someone out for a fresh Lopez.
  20. Shaw is also 1 for 14 career against Quintana. You'd have to look long and hard to find a Brewer with good career numbers against Quintana. Either Guerra is gonna have to pitch out of his mind today, or we have to find a way to get Quintana out in 6 innings. See pitches, work the count, etc. I don't see us scoring much on him today.
  21. Santana is 0-10 career against Quintana...I imagine that factors in.
