  1. He's having the most miserable day of his life today and we're all upset about it, but he obviously regrets it and we'll eventually move on. Although it certainly will be easier if the Brewers avoid blowing late-inning leads in the postseason... He's not even the first pitcher this year to bust his pitching hand punching something. One wishes that he did it after a bad outing rather than after the celebration though. This is roughly where I stand. The obvious has been said, I'm not going to pile on and I'm really not big on booing your own players unless they are like Marcell Ozuna or Trevor Bauer types. And we aren't exactly going to punt an extremely talented player over something like this. It sucks, all you can do is move forward
  2. Pretty much everyone I know is very meh on going to the NLDS but at least say they absolutely intend on going to WS game. Also, about 1/3 of available tickets disappear immediately for WS to sponsors, media, other teams, etc. I think you'd have a hard time getting in the ballpark for a WS game for less than 500 on the secondary market.
  3. Playoffs are best on best, I think last I looked they were a 2-2 split in their top 4 relievers. If we're facing anybody besides their top 4 guys it's because we shelled a starter and we're probably doing well in the game. I'm not overly concerned with lh vs rh honestly. We could certainly use a better rh ph off the bench than we'll have but otherwise we'll do fine against lh relievers.
  4. I don't think houser will be jammed into a 7th inning role. I just think he'll be considered one of our top 3 relief options. Might mean pitching 6 and 7 or 7 and 8 on a given night among other scenarios. I'm kinda thinking Ashby will be the guy to come in if a starter falters early. All bullpen roles will be a bit more variable in the postseason. We might finally see hader pitch more than 1 inning.
  5. Burnes, woodruff, Peralta, lauer. That's the rotation in my opinion. I initially thought lauer/houser would piggyback for game 4 but lauer has been pitching incredible the last few months. I'm expecting hader, Williams, houser to be the top 3 relievers used in close wins. Ashby and boxberger are probably next up
  6. After getting 4 game swept at home, I'm mildly more concerned than I was at the beginning of the week. The Cards face us and then the Cubs 7 times. We face Cards, Mets, Dodgers. I think clinching this weekend is critical after what happened this week. There's certainly a path to losing 6 straight against very good teams that will probably need every last win to achieve their goals for the regular season.
  7. If we lose today, it really is not hard to come up with a scenario that the Cardinals enter the last series against us with control over their own destiny for the division. It's actually impossible, because we are 3 wins from clinching regardless of what the cardinals do. So theoretically even if we lose today, all 3 against the mets, all against the Cardinals, we can still sweep the Dodgers and clinch. This is all hypothetical of course. Most likely we clinch this weekend.
  8. So should we have the umps check the Cardinals pitchers for foreign substances every 3 pitches the rest of the game?
  9. I'm pleasantly surprised Yelich came up with that one. That was well struck I thought he might take a poor route and miss it.
  10. So if TLR was still the manager, what are the chances the Cardinals would bring in a flamethrower to start the next inning and intentionally HBP Taylor? 99.9%?
  11. Agreed. I think it makes a lot of sense to have a lefty start, and Lauer has been great. Houser is a guy who all year I've considered to be a post season bullpen weapon. That's taking nothing away from what he's done this year. Him and Ashby will probably be used more often than a typical "long man" would be used, but that's more or less what I'm expecting for playoff pitching. Normally when i think long reliever, I think of a guy to come in and pitch when the starter gets shelled after 2 innings and you're pretty much losing the game...Houser/Ashby are obviously too good for that type of role. I prefer "multi-inning weapon". If you were to power rank our top 5 relievers while including Ashby/Houser in that group, both are in the top 5.
  12. When have you ever seen both a pitcher and a catcher meet with an umpire immediately after an inning? You know they are just trying to work the umps into beneficial calls for them. I wouldn't care aside from it works far too often. Molina is a hall of fame cry baby.
  13. That highlight reel of WW vs Yelich was kinda hilarious. It was more than anything an example of how crappy the umpires are. Quite a few called 3rd strikes on pitches outside the zone...
  14. Houser's sinker looks really good so far today. Tons of movement, O'neill really struggled with it the whole atbat and eventually struck out on one middle middle.
  15. Taylor in place of Garcia, and Pina starting for Narvaez. Otherwise all the regulars. Taylor needs reps, and Pina is hitting much better than Narvaez of late. How is that a getaway lineup? No JBJ, Jace or Reyes to be seen. Mostly just a jab at Yelich batting 3rd again. Maybe should have gone blue
