  1. The best comp I can find is Kenley Jansen, but it's an old comp. He got $4.3 million as a super 2 after the 2013 season. Dodgers filed at 3.5 and Jansen filed at 5. Hader probably will get in the $4.5-5 million range based on Jansen.
  2. This to me, sounds like a guy that sees a lot of talent coming up behind him for 2020.
  3. Isn't the guy they traded Anderson for today (Spanberger) basically a younger version of Healy? In time, I assume that guy is a minor leaguer and doesn't require 40 man protection yet. So it's generally different.
  4. If teams opt to double Clark on most run blocking plays because every OT can manhandle Lancaster...it's much less Clark regressing than his supporting cast failing him. Not sure if that's the case, but it seems to be the argument some are making. I was personally more frustrated with the linebackers yesterday. Martinez/Gilbert seemed to get to the hole a bit late...and regularly allowed the runner an extra 4-5 yards after contact if they were even able to make the tackle.
  5. Tend to agree. Healy is fine as a minor league/ST invite guy...but you could say that about anyone with even a shred of remaining upside.
  6. This an odd post, as the 2nd most productive player on the market is a guy we just let go and could have had for a modest $7.5M. Hopefully the trade market is more robust than that list... I think Thames was a bit lucky this year and played in a very strict platoon. Thames is closer to the Moreland/Smoak/Walker tier than he is to Abreu or Kendrick. There are at least a handful of guys on that list that will have to take minor league deals with a ST invite...could bring in a couple guys to ST and have them compete with Braun/Shaw as contingency if both suck. This could also of course be posturing and he hopes to bring Thames back for $3-4 million vs $7.5 million.
  7. @Haudricourt 6 minutes ago Stearns said Anderson decision came down to not wanting to exercise the option but also avoiding a possible arbitration hearing. Fair enough. It takes Haudricourt or a few other media guys saying the same thing for me to buy it. I'm a bit surprised Stearns was so open with that information, that's not typical for him.
  8. 2 moves later, and the Brewers trimmed 16 million in payroll and cut down to around 90 million if they keep everyone if my math is any good. They can obviously cut guys like Shaw if they choose and save more. There's definitely enough payroll to make a big signing or a few medium sized signings, or a trade that takes on payroll. Will be interesting to see what we do.
  9. For starters, i highly doubt bob nightengale has any idea what the brewers intentions were with Anderson's option. He's guessing, the brewers keep things too close to the vest for him to know that. I feel similar to most of you. I like the idea of upgrading from anderson and re-allocating that payroll elsewhere. While on paper this pickup doesn't look great, i see a 1b that improved his defensive profile that has plus power but a very reasonable k rate. That tells me last year he either made bad contact a lot or was unlucky...or both. I guess bottom line is, i don't think this guy is simply aaa fodder... there's at least some mlb potential here
  10. One thing I wonder about with the 2 way player, what if a player transitions to pitching from playing something like 3b or C? Like let's say Kratz works his butt off and plans to pitch a legit amount of innings out of the bullpen and serve as 3rd catcher as well. This isn't super common, but there are certainly enough instances where they should have a plan in place for this situation.
  11. I saw some news on this too. Im kinda shocked that video hasn't surfaced considering how many cameras must have been in there. For me personally, that probably means these allegations are fairly exaggerated. If there was a good video clip that was overly damaging of his case, it would probably have surfaced by now. Video clips showing the allegations to be exaggerated likely would conveniently not surface. I doubt Taubman gets fired, but it's probably very unlikely he works his way into a GM role anytime soon...if ever. He would probably be a top choice before this situation, but there are so many other qualified options that it would be fairly silly to even consider him after this. No team wants to hire the guy appearing to be nasty towards women.
  12. Regarding bryant, i actually think it's written in the CBA that you can't hold a guy back specifically to manipulate service time. The problem comes in proving it. Im sure the cubs have half a dozen contributing factors that they will list as reasons, will be tough for bryant to prove otherwise. Regarding dave ross, the cubs are approaching the end of their window with the current core. I can understand flinging a hail mary and hoping his presence can bring back the feeling from their WS season. Barring some epic level of success, ross has 1-2 years with the cubs and he'll get punted during the rebuild
  13. I'm admittedly not a big basketball guy, but on paper I feel like our depth is ridiculous. I could see a significant chunk of games where Giannis plays maybe 20-25 minutes and not at all in the 4th quarter...and we win by 30. Wilson, Brown, DiVincenzo, Connaughton, R Lopez, Korver...most of those guys start on more than half of rosters and none are in our top 7-8 players. I'd like to see us be smart with minutes all year wherever possible...this team with this depth is built for playoff basketball.
  14. I think Muncy fits better as a LH bat. We'll most likely lose Moose/Grandal, most SS/C replacements would probably be RH. I think you want an extra LH bat to have 3-4 in the lineup everyday(Yelich, Thames, Muncy, sometimes Grisham).
  15. Turner is the face of the Dodgers and still a good player. Trading him would be a bad look for a contending team. On paper, I completely agree with you though...especially considering Turner's age.
  16. I like this a lot actually, considering Taylor really won't have a path to playing time if they sign Rendon...at least in the infield. I also think we are best served having our utility IF be a RH hitter considering how LH we are. I've always felt Kelly was very underrated as a pitcher. The Dodgers have done salary dump trades before...
  17. SF specifically has a ridiculous pass rush. They can rush 4 and get there almost all the time. That rookie, Bosa, is an absolutely monster. I couldn't agree more that that's a scary matchup. They just held Goff and the Rams to I think 72 yards passing. That would be a subpar QUARTER for the Rams most days. I think our defense will match up mostly fine against them, I don't think we get blown out but scoring is going to be tough.
  18. I've seen rumblings of the Dodgers interest in Rendon, which creates a serious log jam in the infield if it actually happens. Turner could be made available, or more likely...utility man Muncy gets made available. Either guy could be very useful for this team. It's also been thoroughly discussed in another thread that Hader makes a ton of sense for the Dodgers while Lux is a glove-like fit for this roster(ok he's a great fit for any roster but he specifically fills our most glaring need in the best possible way). The Dodgers are also loaded at catcher, while the Brewers need a catcher. I feel like there are just so many possible trades, both big and small, that could happen between these 2 teams. It would almost be surprising if we DON'T make at least one trade with the Dodgers.
  19. I'm calling a spade a spade here. Glad he's gone. He's a better fit on an AL team where he can be an emergency option and solid defensively at all positions but never have to PH and theoretically never step foot on the diamond.
  20. But that is simply not reality and is just a horrible horrible take. Probably one of the worst takes I've seen on these boards in a while Actually, you are 100% spot on. You're right, the Lions should just score a TD every drive and get a sack every defensive play. It's their fault for not having a perfect outcome on every play. Or, the Lions were 51-52% better than the Packers yesterday...and the refs favorable calls were enough to swing the outcome in our favor. Could the Lions have been better, yes...but it's not exactly fair for them to have to be 55-60% better than us in anticipation of compensating for bad calls. That's not a realistic expectation in this league...the teams are too good.
  21. Yeah it's really stupid. Last year it took 10 days(after we were eliminated) to issue the credits, and another 5 days beyond that for the credits to show up. Business days obviously. That's why I initially figured we'd get our strip credits around the 22nd. It's certainly annoying it's not sooner but it is what it is.
  22. I would probably check in on those if I was you. I received my refund for game 3 NLDS last week.
  23. I'd rather get one elite prospect the Brewers love than getting 4 or 5 that they don't. I didn't see Lux playing SS so I don't know. He can certainly hit though. Would people go run out of town to bring Stearns back if he had traded Hader for Fernando Tatis Jr this past off-season? I think they'd have been fine with that. Tatis > Lux. Proving it even to a small degree at the MLB level goes such a long way. Brinson is a great example, was a monster at AAA...but the statistical dropoff from AAA to MLB is seriously incredible for him. Also, every team is going to value players differently...so despite Joseph's numbers, it's certainly possible the Dodgers put a higher value on Hader than Lux and would be willing to make the swap. 1 for 1 is really close, I think I would say no. I would want another piece or two.
  24. Nope, you're the proud owner of post 371 and 393. I'd delete one if I could because obviously two are pointless, for whatever reason delete isn't an option. I clicked post earlier and the browser was spinning, trying to work. Came back an hour and a half later and it was still spinning so I hit refresh. I am a bit curious if it's just me that the site occasionally will get stuck for like that.
  25. I didn't think it actually posted earlier. The website was acting funky and I had to step away. I'm guessing it got taken down because people's opinions can't be criticized, or something.
