  1. The Brewers catch a break with Valdez, one of the premier LHP in the league, pitching today against the A’s. So, they’ll be facing 3 RHP starters against the Astros.
  2. Adames hits a HR to right and then goes right back to trying to pull everything and rolls into an easy DP. 🙄
  3. A classic bullpen game for the Rays, the pioneers of the concept. On paper the best chance the Brewers had for a win coming into the series, and now their last chance. But, it’s not going to be much of a chance if the Brewers can’t find a way to score more than 1 or 2 runs. With 8 runs in 5 games this week, it’s fortunate that they have one win.
  4. It takes a lot of time to load all of those ads.
  5. All the Brewers offense needed was facing one of my fantasy pitchers.
  6. Last night’s game gave me some hope that the Brewers might win a game in this series. The Rays offense seems to have cooled a little, giving the Brewers a chance to win a low scoring game. I don’t think they can get into a slugfest with these guys. Another thing the Brewers have going for them today is that I have Eflin on my fantasy team. If he performs like the rest of my pitchers this week he should be giving up at least 4 runs in 6 innings or less.
  7. Have the Rays made a change? The MLB site lists Eflin as the Rays SP for today.
  8. Adames had to knock that ball down. He had no play.
  9. I hope Yelich didn’t aggravate something on that swing. He had an uncomfortable look on his face as he jogged off the field.
  10. Heads up,play by Adames faking the throw and catching the runner on third off base.
  11. Yelich is back in the lineup hitting 3rd, and the Brewers get a little break as the blistering hot Yandy Diaz remains out for the Rays.
  12. Maybe the Rays are returning to reality a little as they went 4-6 on their road trip. That was a tough trip with series against the Yankees, Orioles, and Mets that produced a lot of close games. On paper this looks like a tough one for the Brewers to win as they face a very tough lefty while sending Houser against the Rays’ imposing offense. 3-3 in these next two series against the Rays and Astros would have to be considered a great success with the Brewers depleted starting rotation.
  13. Wainwright probably thinks it’s a shame that he didn’t get to face the Brewers instead of the Dodgers.
  14. The Cardinals are breaking out the HR whooping sticks on the Dodgers. And the Dodgers are whooping back. But no match for the Cards 7 HR.
  15. The umpire calling Donovan out for being out of the base path on that play would have been totally wrong. A runner can only be called out for being out of the base path if it is done to avoid a tag. Tellez could have made the throw to the outfield side of the bag but chose not to.
  16. Just like the collective offense, I think the problem with the players is not that they are inconsistent, but that too many of them are simply not very good hitters or are completely unproven. How many players do the Brewers have in their everyday lineup that have an established record of good, consistent production over the last couple of seasons? Counting on players who have never been productive hitters in MLB, or who have shown significant decline from past productive seasons, runs a significant risk of failure. And, over the last month or so, the Brewers offense has been a dismal failure to the point of being the one of the worst in the NL.
  17. I don’t think the offense is inconsistent. It is simply not very good.
  18. No, I am a die hard Cardinal hater. My point is that the fact that the Brewers offense can’t do squat against pitchers that everyone else cuffs around should tell us something about that offense.
  19. If that’s how they have to win they won’t be successful often enough. To put this in context, the first 3 games against the Cardinals came right after the Mets series at a time when the Brewers were hitting. They were able to win 2 games by scoring 4 and 6 runs. The offense from that early part of the season is long gone. Recently it’s been back to the home run or nothing offense because they have too many big holes in the lineup to string together hits.
