    Is there any hope for speeding up the arrival of the storms? This game is going to use up a lot of the bullpen going into Sproat’s start at Wrigley. The weather there tomorrow could be iffy.

    Who’s going to be the first backup for Gasser today? He is really laboring.

    So, is the plan to have Sproat, Misioroski, and Harrison against the Cubs, or is there a question about Misioroski’s availability. If Mis does pitch Tuesday I wonder if they would have him go Sunday against the Dodgers.or use the off day to push him to the first game of the Cardinals series The Sunday game is on our 12 pack and it would be fun to be at a game he pitches. Harrison has started all 3 games we’ve been at so far.

    I saw that but some of the usual second guessers and Murphy critics hadn’t said anything.

    I’m for it too. He has been effective and is warm.

    Any compaints about Patrick pitching the ninth or is everyone going to wait for the result to declare if Murphy should’ve done something different.

    Frelick is on my list for tonight too. Twice he came up with a runner on first and nobody out. As much as I usually dislike bunting, I was thinking those might be good situations for him to try to bunt for a hit and hopefully move the runner along if nothing else. But both times he pulls out his back leg swing and produces a weak fly ball and a weak ground ball.

    If the Brewers lose this game, the bullpen will get the blame, but I will be looking more at the offense producing very little and then failing to get a run out of a golden opportunity with the middle of the order up.

    This Brewers offense hasn’t done much lately unless the opposing pitcher gets them started by walking the bases loaded.

    Does this different lineup thing mean never having the same 9 players in the lineup, never having the same 9 players in the same positions, or just not having the exact same batting order?

    Trying to win a game with just 1 run doesn’t work very often.

    Should have asked for Chourio’s breakout to last for more than one AB.

    No Yelich again tonight. Looks like one of those “play shorthanded for a few days and then backdate an IL stint” situations.

    I wonder if the Brewers are planning to have Misioroski pitch Tuesday against the Cubs (assuming he is ready) with Harrison following on Wednesday, each with an extra day of rest.

    Just imagine how much better they would be if the pitchers never made bad pitches, the hitters never failed to bring in a runner from third with less than 2 outs, and the fielders never made an error.

    As crushing as last night’s loss was it’s hard to complain about 5-1 on this homestand. When I made my prediction for the month I figured on 3-3. The pitching has been encouraging, while the offense hasn’ t exactly been clicking. The 3 games in which they scored more than 3 runs without the aid of a free runner were vintage woodpecker ball with more walking, dinking, and dunking than hard hitting. Several players not swinging well.

    Vaughn’s error might force the Brewers to use someone else in the bullpen to finish this one out

    They’re talking about the Padres punting the game and using a position player to finish. The fourth inning is a little early for that kind of talk, especially against a first place team with plenty of punch in their lineup.

    So, today against a journeyman RHP the Brewers have no Yelich or Bauers with Sanchez batting in the cleanup spot. Not exactly putting the best foot forward after a silent night at the plate on Wednesday. In the month since his last home run, Sanchez has been pretty much deadweight at the plate. In 65 plate appearances he’s put up an OPS of .568. Over the same time period Joey Ortiz has had 53 plate appearances with an OPS of.584.

    It is still frustrating to have a wasted spot on the roster. It does seem like he should have done a rehab assignment to see how he responded to game action before being activated.

    You’re backpedaling pretty far from your original statement. Sounds like you now agree that it isn’t NEVER or ALMOST ALWAYS but that it depends very heavily on the circumstances and the players involved. That should include what hitters are coming up for the opponent.
