  1. I think PCA wanted to show everyone how he could make that play look easy
  2. Did Misioroski even get a chance to sit down before being sent out to the mound again?
  3. I’m sure we’re going to see this at least occasionally against RHP. The downside to putting Vaughn at 1B and Bauers in LF is that you’re making the defense weaker at two positions, especially in the OF. If Vaughn is on the bench he will probably be used as a PH when the situation calls for it, and it could be for one of several players, including Hamilton or Frelick. Whether he goes into the field would depend on the game situation and the comparative value of maximizing the defense or possibly getting Vaughn another AB.
  4. No, just a statement of 2 facts The Brewers are averaging 5.26 runs per game in their last 19 games. The Brewers are averaging 4.46 runs per game in their 15 games in May. Everyone is entitled to decide for themselves which is more relevant to the current state of the offense.
  5. Because there are often threads on this board inviting predictions for a given month, I was looking yesterday at the team’s performance for the month of May which is on track to significantly exceed my expectation, I was noting that the offense had been pretty pedestrian at 4.14 RPG while the run prevention has been exceptional at 2.5 runs per game. Yesterday’s 9 runs gave a little boost to the RPG but it is still closer to a league average. My conclusion is that the 10-4, now 11-4 record is largely a result of exceptional pitching and enough offense to take advantage. .The average of 5.26 runs per game that you cite is, of course, helped out significantly by the two 13 run games against Arizona that came in the last 4 games of April. The May average is now up to 4,46 and the run differential +29.
  6. I took a day off of my senior year in high school to see the Brewers first opener in 1970, the 12-0 loss to the Angels
  7. Just hardened by 57 years of following the Brewers.
  8. Except that it’s 8 to 3 and it looks like having a fresh bullpen might come in handy. Don’t want to mess with Cubs Magic at Wrigley this year. Just ask the Reds.
  9. Sorry Vinny, but I don’t think a bullet Kiner to center is going to give a struggling pitcher confidence that his stuff is going to get outs. I can tell already that this game is going to make me mad so it’s probably better to just turn it off and check later and hope for an unexpected pleasant surprise.
  10. The point was made with one post, but maybe it’s just as well to have him today because the offense probably won’t be doing much with Imanaga.
  11. Turang has looked pretty bad at the plate the last few days. He’s struck out in about half of his ABs and most of them have been with defensive swings or looking at pitches right down the middle. Classic “not seeing the ball well”.
  12. These are not the City Connect uniforms that people generally dislike I think these blue ones are good looking.
  13. A big question for the Brewers is going to be whether their offense can pick up the pace before the pitching returns to earth. It’s amazing that the Brewers have gone 10-4 this month with the mediocre or worse run production they’ve gotten. But, the pitching has kept them in almost every game, even when they’ve only scored 2 or 3 runs. I will consider it a steal if the Brewers win tonight with the pitching matchup and a strong wind SW blowing out to left field.
  14. I think what I hated about the Twins in the 80’s was watching the games played in the Humpty Dump Dome. It seemed like at least once every series, at a key moment a routine pop up would be lost in the white roof, leading to a big inning. Plus the playing surface seemed even spongier than other artificial fields, leading to some bizarre bounces. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Twins had a huge home vs road differential and they were able to win two World Series without winning a road game.
  15. There is some difference because the Cubs had already used Webb, Milner, and Palencia, who seem to be their top available relievers, plus Maton. So, Counsell didn’t seem to have a lot more options. But, I didn’t want to see Megill, Uribe, or Ashby in a game that they were losing and were probably going to lose regardless of who pitched.
  16. To make things worse, the White Sox had the Cubs beat, but what would have been the final out of the game was thrown in the dirt and the first baseman whiffed on it. Conforto followed with a game tying three run homer.
  17. This kind of offense against the Cubs will likely mean getting swept. The first game with Imanaga vs Sproat is one of those where you hope for one of those “that’s baseball” results.
  18. For the weekend it’s 3 for 31 with RISP, and the one hit last night didn’t drive in a run. They’ve been just as bad advancing runners
  19. Tough series for Turang. 2 for 12 with 5K.
  20. He also knows that he has been responsible for most of the Brewers runs in this series.
  21. If he has to bunt, he could at least try to bunt away from and past the pitcher instead of putting it right in front of the plate.
  22. Yep. An absolute waste with a runner on 3rd and 1 out.
