Mona spun in about 8 circles on that trip around the bases, he got turned around and tripped going to tag up on the Collins hit even. Big hit for Isaac, finally some breathing room!

Hate swinging 3-0 following a walk there. I know he hit it hard, but it’s an out. There’s times to ambush 3-0, that just didn’t feel like one of them.

He’s put up 1.2 WAR in 40 innings out of the pen. He has a 2.06 ERA after tonight. If that is underachieving then I think your expectations are probably unrealistic.

Odd aspect of a rain out in a double header… Cubs used their extra pitcher in game 1. Now they get to call up a different arm tomorrow. Brewers did not use their extra pitcher in game 1 so it will be the same pitcher tomorrow. Cubs catch a slight break in being able to swap out a fresh arm tomorrow.

Freddy has had innings like that this year and then came out the next inning and looked great. Hopefully that’s the case today, but I’d get the pen moving around just in case. Probably should be a short leash the rest of the way.

Our backup catcher doesn’t play enough to justify giving up a prospect for him. Hopefully the power comes through in the postseason, one pinch hit HR in the postseason would make it worth it I guess.

Pulling Myers just made no sense. Going from righty to righty and not like one is drastically different than the other. If they tie it off Myers he can keep pitching into extras and you still have Anderson. Now into extras we use more arms and put the availability tomorrow in a worse spot. Murphy over thought that one.

Don’t see the point in this pitching change. Myers throwing well why not just let him go? In Murphy we trust I guess.

Very nice outing by Quintana, pitching into the 7th is huge to help the bullpen recover from the usage the last 2 days.

The first pitch outs are brutal. That first pitch double play probably gets Abbot another inning.

So far so good from Quintana. Starting to gain hope that we might be able to get through today with just Quintana and Anderson. If we have Myers available tomorrow as a long man out of the pen that would be a huge boost towards handling the double header.

Really could use a deep start from Quintana. I’m guessing it’s him, Anderson, and Myers to cover today’s game. Pretty much everyone else needs a day off heading into tomorrow’s double header. Tomorrow will be the day that not having Hall’s length could hurt.

Hall has been pretty solid other than tonight, but I doubt he planned on being in during the second inning. Miz also fell apart pretty quickly in that inning, Hall probably didn’t have a ton of time to get loose. Not sure what Ashby has done to remove himself from that conversation.

Hindsight is 20/20 but sure wish Cortes was still in the organization. Our SP suddenly looks real thin.

The amount of pen arms we need to use is going to linger.
