  1. Was there probability on Mitchell returning late this year?
  2. Kyle Garlick with .651 OPS against LHP in 22 AB for Saint Paul this year. Striking out 33.3% of time, overall.
  3. There are more reasons to be optimistic for Hiura than Voit. #Ready4Keston
  4. Two seasons above replacement level (2019 and 2021). Two seasons below replacement level (2020 and 2022) Houser’s 13 IP in 2018 were essentially replacement level. Conclusion: At age 30, this is not the player you make a multi-year commitment to. Maybe two-years at affordable contract? He probably could get a short multi-year deal in free agency. In any case, no rush.
  5. Wilson Contreras: DH and OF 🤷‍♂️ Contreras shifting to DH role in bid to spark Cards
  6. Thankfully, the Pirates play the Rays and Blue Jays next week.
  7. I think it is alright for people to miss 7-year Brewer veteran, Brent Suter. He had a career ERA of 3.51 for Milwaukee. I think the front office felt, correctly, they could get similar production for less than $3,000,000 salary this year.
  8. Milwaukee and Saint Louis hitters have identical BABIP, suggesting similar luck. Both third-highest in MLB. If both teams regress on BABIP then in theory, both offenses decline.
  9. I see the Cardinals’ pitching has third-worst BABIP allowed and third worst HR/FB % in MLB. If that regresses to middle of the pack, they will improve. They also are third-worst for hard hit percentage allowed, which could also mean hitters are just hitting Cardinal pitching hard this year.
  10. What data could Fangraphs be using to predict the Cardinals will outperform Milwaukee the rest of the way?
  11. After 22 games, anyone buying the Pirates finishing in second place or having 82+ wins? They need to go 67-73, the rest of the way.
  12. Oakland wins the trade?
  13. Managing the Oakland A’s. At age 47, he might write himself into the lineup soon.
  14. The Brewers at 13-5 is even more exciting given the lack of cupcake opponents. Pirates and Cubs still playing well and Cardinals are 6 GB. Cardinals run differential doesn’t provide immediate hope for a quick turnaround.
  15. Do this year’s Oakland A’s have what it takes to break the 1962 Mets’ record of 120 losses in a single season? Currently on pace for 134 losses.
  16. Dodgers seem like they are in a funk. They do not seem like world beaters to me.
  17. He was, for a spot start while Marco Gonzales is on paternity leave. Looks like he pitched well for his one game. Then, DFA’d
  18. I see LHP Marco Gonzales is on paternity leave and could conceivably pitch in game three for a Seattle but that seems like a short leave.
  19. I’m glad we miss Luis Castillo in Seattle. I also noticed 36-year old LHP Tommy Milone was otherwise in-line to be the starting pitcher in game three, until he was designated for assignment. Almost seems like poor scouting to DFA Milone before the Milwaukee series. Milone had 1.93 ERA in his one 4.2 IP start last week.
  20. If any of the guys we received from the trade become above average, I will be fine with the trade. We did not need Renfroe and his salary in 2023 or beyond.
  21. Renfroe went 0-3 with 2 K today, lowering his OPS to .869. Brewers win the trade.
  22. Also, the Cubs nearly swept the Dodgers in Los Angeles…
  23. Credit the Cardinals for a big win today. Contreras had a full count in the 10th inning and drew a one out walk. It could easily have been two outs, trailing by a run. Cardinals narrowly avoid falling to 6-10. Instead, 7-9 and they host the Diamondbacks this week.
  24. If the season ended today, the Brewers, Cubs and Pirates would be in the playoffs. Yes, 90% of the season remains but still an ounce remarkable.
  25. Baez with .328 OPS and -7 OPS+ in 41 AB this year. Four more seasons left on his contract. Over $24 M AAV.
