  1. Image courtesy of © Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images Here is a recap of three of the most popular thread topics on Brewer Fanatic's forums this week: Brewers: NL Central Discussion 2026 Our forum has been tracking the NL Central closely over the past month. It was fun watching the Cubs' offense hibernate through the first two weeks. Two weeks later, they’re the hottest team in baseball, powered by what bWAR says is the best group of position players in the game. Can the Reds’ pitching keep them on top, even with a negative run differential? How are the Cardinals simultaneously rebuilding and playing at a 94-win pace? Milwaukee finally gets its first crack at the division this weekend, starting with Pittsburgh. We know the Pirates can pitch. Will their offseason investments in offense keep them competitive over a full season? The NL Central is taking shape. Come watch and discuss it unfold. Brewers: Joey O Nothing unites a fan forum more than dissecting the merits of a team's ninth-best position player. For Milwaukee, that means Joey Ortiz. Or, should it be someone else? Luis Rengifo and Sal Frelick deserve criticism, too. Brewer Fanatic has patiently waited for Ortiz's bat to return to 2024 levels of adequacy. Day by day, it seems like Joey's bat continues to regress. Milwaukee has plenty of prospects on the horizon, too. Let us know what you think the Brewers should do at shortstop and when. Minors: UPDATED: Luis Peña OK after Night in Hospital The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had a scary moment on Wednesday night when their # 2 prospect, Luis Peña, was hospitalized after passing out in the dugout. Our forum community was the internet’s leading source of information and updates on Peña‘s health scare during the overnight hours. We share our thoughts and prayers for a swift recovery for Peña. We sometimes treat baseball as a matter of life and death, but we come together as a community when a player’s health is truly at risk. View full article

  3. Zerpa has been a touch better than that. Mears isn’t striking anyone out but has otherwise been fine.
  4. Struggled with Riley Greene today
  5. Sproat is hanging right in there. That curveball wasn’t a bad pitch on the HR allowed.
  6. Second time through the order. Now we’ve seen him! 🙂
  7. I can’t even tell if this is our ‘Sunday lineup’ anymore. 🙂
  8. Let the opener open 🙂🤷‍♂️
  9. 28-year-old right-hander Casey Mize makes his second career start against Milwaukee. Mize last faced the Brewers on 6/8/24 allowing 8 H, 2 BB, 5 R, 3 ER and striking out one batter over 5.1 IP. Brewers won 5-4. Mize has pitched well this season thanks largely to his splitter which he has used 30% of the time. The majority of what Mize throws is off speed. Chad Patrick had one of his best career starts last time out, needing only 82 pitches to complete 6.2 IP against Toronto. Patrick makes his first career appearance against Detroit. Chad has thrown a fastball 85% of the time this season (cutter, four seam or sinker).
  10. It seems odd to me for Devin to seemingly have a negative experience in New York last season and sign across town in the off season. Even if the money was there from the Mets. McLean had perfect game into the 6th, too...
  11. Woodford hasn't walked anyone in 6 of 7 outings. His FIP is 3.61 🤷‍♂️🙂
  12. Club record five triples in one game. Source
  13. October 1, 1974 another time source A few times in the 70s. I stopped looking.
  14. Brewers had back to back triples on May 10, 1970. source
  15. Let’s not overlook David Hamilton. He might go the entire season without an extra base hit, but he is walking 17% of the time. 0.5 WAR through 59 PA is acceptable.
  16. Tigers are 8-2 over the last 10 games and 8-1 at home this season. Brewers took two of three from the Tigers in Milwaukee last season. Brewers lost the Skubal/Tyler Alexander matchup.
  17. 25-year-old right-hander Keider Montero has been effective through three starts this season. Montero is 1-1 with a 1.66 FIP and 3.31 ERA allowing 12 H, 2 BB with 15 K over 16.1 IP. Milwaukee defeated Montero on 4/16/25, winning 5-1. Montero surrendered 8 H, 1 BB, 3 HR, 5 ER while striking out 8 batters over 5 IP. source Kyle Harrison makes his first start since "the incident" on April 11. Harrison last faced Detroit on 9/26/25. Harrison allowed 7 H, 3 BB and 3 ER while striking out 6 over 3 IP. source Looking ahead to Thursday, Sproat faces Skubal.
  18. The Reds outfield has been jarringly below replacement level.
  19. Batting average.
  20. I think the organization knows who Perkins is at this point. Not much chance to catch lightning in a bottle anymore than we already did with Perkins. Might as well give Jones and Matos another look. Lara is close, I would think.
  21. With Rengifo's rapid ascension (reaching base five times over two games), the Brewers are now at 0 WAR from 3B position this season. Rengifo has 14 G at 3B and Hamilton has 8 games at 3B. It is worth noting that Rengifo has .188 BABIP this season, nearly 100 points lower than his career average. Better days area ahead. The Brewers are at 0.3 WAR from SS position this season. Oritz with 15 G at SS and Hamilton with 6 G at SS. Milwaukee has 17th best bWAR from SS this year. The Brewers have -0.4 bWAR from RF. Frelick has 18 G, Perkins with 2 G and Matos with 2 G from RF. source
