  1. Maybe he wanted to make sure Hall did not get up to bat the next inning unless they were way ahead...
  2. Bob Welch is correct. I'm thinking Connie Mack managed for 57 years and the Braves manager was Bobby Bragan.
  3. This will likely be a tough series. Cueto and Harang are both pitching very well and do not seem like good match-ups for our slumping offense. Seems foolish to hope that the hitting can snap out of it tonight or tomorrow night but stranger things have happened. I guess I'm hoping Cueto is a bit off and Looper can sneak in a quality start tonight, then Bush can stay strong and match Harang tomorrow, in the process somehow they sneak out at least one of those two and then take advantage of a Gallardo/Owings match-up on Sunday.
  4. Sorry I meant that there are 2 players tied for the most wins in a season since McLain (one in each league). So Carlton is correct but Guidry is not.
  5. Justice has changed his tune a bit, believe it or not. Here's the latest, in which he calls for Cooper's firing.
  6. Wasn't Dizzy Dean a 30-game winner? And who has the highest win totals for a season since McClain's 1968 season? One in each league.
  7. Took me a bit to figure this out. I think Perez must have thrown past the 1st baseman on the DP relay. Lucroy was backing up and threw the batter out trying to advance on the overthrow.
  8. Also, Justin Lehr has been traded back to the Reds organization by the Phillies and is now again with AAA Louisville.

  12. Yes, but without this trade we wouldn't be cheering for Dave Bush.... Bones ---> traded for Wickman ---> traded for Sexson ---> traded for Overbay ---> traded for Bush. See, 17 years later we are still reaping the benefits of that trade!
  13. **Jason Kendall became the 255th player to record 2000 hits, but only the 8th catcher. Other former Brewers on this list include: 3. Henry Aaron 3771 9. Paul Molitor 3319 17. Robin Yount 3142 55. Dave Parker 2712 71. Gary Sheffield 2633 77. Julio Franco 2586 91. Ted Simmons 2472 127. BJ Surhoff 2326 143. Tony Fernandez 2276 149. Marquis Grissom 2251 165. Willie Randolph 2210 169. Cecil Cooper 2192 205. Felipe Alou 2101 229. Ray Durham 2054 **Mike Cameron is 2 HR away from being only the 20th player to record 250 HR and 250 SB in a career. This list includes many predictable names, but several surprises: Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Alex Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, Andre Dawson, Don Baylor, Bobby Bonds, Reggie Sanders, Steve Finley, Rickey Henderson, Craig Biggio, Alfonso Soriano, Eric Davis, Ryne Sandberg, Carlos Beltran, Joe Morgan, Vada Pinson, Kirk Gibson, and Robin Yount. **Also, don't forget that Trevor Hoffman sets a new all-time saves record with every save he records. With 563 saves he is 74 ahead of 2nd place Mariano Rivera. He is still the only player to record 500 saves, and only 4 players have accumulated over 400 saves. Rollie Fingers is 10th on the list with 341.
  14. I can't believe the Brewers just swept the Cardinals and are in 1st place and I don't feel like celebrating one bit. I am really bummed about Weeks. I guess I didn't realize how much I was enjoying his improved play.
  15. Another oddity, the Yankees just won their 3rd walk-off in a row against the Twins. Friday it was the 9th inning, yesterday the 11th, and today the 10th. That can't happen too often.
  16. Glendon Rusch DFA by the Rockies. Greg Aquino called up by the Indians.
  17. I hesitated even mentioning Kershaw. Now he's not pitching any longer after giving up a hit to start the 8th.
  18. Today's schedule Kershaw pitching very well for the Dodgers, but 108 pitches through 7 innings. The Rays are batting pitcher Sonnanstine 3rd after incorrectly labeling both Longoria and Zobrist as the 3b when Longoria was supposed to be the DH.
  19. That would be great! Please include me in your random drawing and thank you for being so generous. It's too bad that Brewer fans that are willing to give away something for nothing don't get any pub.
  20. Javier Valentin signed to a minor-league contract by the Mets, and assigned to AAA Buffalo. He apparently opted for free agency after the Nationals outrighted him this spring. Nelson Figueroa called up by the Mets, for the 2nd time this season. Luis Vizcaino signed by the Indians after his Cubs release. It will be his 8th major-league club, and 6th in the last 5 years after leaving the Brewers.
  21. Also being discussed here. If you check out his blog, you'll find that he will do just about anything for a baseball, including changing into opponent team jerseys and using a glove and rope to snag baseballs from the bullpen when nobody is looking.
  22. I didn't see it, I'm listening to Uecker, but apparently Duffy threw the ball in to Hardy at 2nd, so Bonifacio kept running.
  23. Hall is the 17th player to hit 100 HRs as a Brewer.
