  1. I want to say I really like how Joe Madden is handling the Rays' bullpen. He is not afraid to go against the "unwritten rule" that pitchers need to be locked into a certain inning. He is mixing and matching whenever he feels it is necessary.
  2. Yahoo only updates the pitch counts after the inning is over. FYI.
  3. If Durham isn't well enough to play, he shouldn't be on the roster...
  4. Why did they put in Counsell and not Durham? For better defense?
  5. Updated for the full season: Brewers game-winning RBI this season, total: Fielder 21, Braun 15, Cameron 9, Hardy 9, Hart 9, Weeks 8, Hall 7, Kapler 6, Rivera 2, Kendall 2, Gwynn, Counsell 7th inning or later: Fielder 7, Hall 4, Braun 4, Weeks 3, Kapler 3, Cameron 3, Hardy 3, Gwynn, Counsell Walk-offs: Weeks 2, Kapler 2, Hardy 2, Fielder 2, Counsell, Braun, Cameron
  6. This is perfect, really. It would be great to re-sign him, but I'm not optimistic.
  7. Too much of a good thing. The one Wild Card worked, but let's not get greedy.
  8. Sure it's possible. But I hope you aren't serious, because if Kapler is still injured, we don't have a realistic option to take his place.
  9. I noticed that too- that's why I came to this thread. His post didn't answer my question about Branyan or Dillon. I want Branyan on the roster-- and playing 3b against RHP, but that's another thread. I would rather Dillon over Gwynn in case of a OF injury, but I suppose Gwynn could be a PR asset. In that case if an injury occurs, I'd consider Hall to the OF; but that probably wouldn't happen.
  10. I am also in need of a copy. I have a call in to a friend, but he hasn't called me back.

  12. Checking baseball-reference.com, Diggins actually started 5 games in Sept 2002, and two of the five were "quality" starts. The other three were awful, including his major-league debut in Chicago where he gave up 8 runs in an inning and a third. I guess I was hoping for Matt Kinney and Ben Hendrickson myself.
  13. Gallardo will be fully rested by Wednesday. CC needs to get 2 games in a 5-game series. Therefore TheCrew07's rotation makes the most sense. But will they pitch Gallardo for Game 4 on 3 days rest? Sure would be nice to know if Sheets will be available. Otherwise that may be Suppan's chance to re-live his playoff magic.
  14. CC Sabathia = Brewer legend.
  15. And the Brewers are in the playoffs!!
  16. Lindstrom it is. Brewer fans love Lindstrom.
  17. Matt Lindstrom has been their closer lately.
  18. Is Kouzmanoff a possibility in a trade with SD? I thought I heard they wanted to clear space for Headley. Or are they staying with Headley in LF?
  19. Fielder and Braun are the first Brewer teammates to have consecutive seasons of at least 34 HRs. Only 3 other times have Brewer teammates hit at least 34 each: Sexson (45) and Burnitz (34); 2001 Thomas (39) and Oglivie (34); 1982 Oglivie (41) and Thomas (38); 1980 (by the way, Oglivie and Thomas were not on pace to do so in 1981) Braun and Fielder each have accumulated 100 RBIs for the season. Other Brewer teammates to reach that mark in the same season: Sexson (125) and Burnitz (100); 2001 Cooper (126) and Simmons (108); 1983 Cooper (121), Yount (114), Thomas (112), and Oglivie (102); 1982 Cooper (122), Oglivie (118), and Thomas (105); 1980 Thomas (123), Cooper (106), and Lezcano (101); 1979 Fielder has reached 100 RBIs in consecutive seasons. Other Brewer players to accomplish that: Sexson 2001, 2002, 2003 Burnitz 1998, 1999 Cooper 1982, 1983 Cooper 1979, 1980 Thomas 1979, 1980
  20. I'm late with comments, but with Bush's 3 walks that all scored (LaRoche is hitting under .200 as well as the pitcher), and Mota's leadoff walk, we were lucky to pull this one out. It was exciting, but let's hope we play better tomorrow.
  21. Adam Pettyjohn was called up by the Reds and made his first MLB appearance since 2001 with the Tigers. Interesting story behind it, here. Other September call-ups include: Chad Moeller, Yankees; Marino Salas, Pirates; Nelson Figueroa and Robinson Cancel, Mets. All have been in the majors with their respective teams earlier in the year. Greg Aquino was DFA by the Orioles. Matt Stairs was traded from Toronto to Philadelphia. Back from the DL: Scott Linebrink, White Sox; Geoff Jenkins, Phillies. Released: Ty Taubenheim, Pirates; Al Reyes, Mets. Ruddy Lugo sent outright to AAA Norfolk by the Mets.
  22. Based on these options, I think they will have to look at a trade. Can we explore any trade options in this thread, or do we have to save that for the transaction rumors section?
  23. This is what I was going to ask. Is his arm not 3rd base worthy? I liked the move to get Durham in place of struggling Weeks, but instead of being replaced, Weeks has been halfway decent, and now with Hall not coming around, Durham makes more sense at 3rd. Unfortunately, he has played 1 whole inning at a defensive position other than 2b, and that was CF.
  24. I am shocked that it happened this late in the season. I can't believe Sveum will be better. They must have figured they didn't want him back next year no matter what, and it would look even worse to fire him if they did still make the playoffs for the first time in 26 years.
