  1. Call me crazy, but: isn't a team that is 6 games over .500 with a -4 run differential being effectively managed and making the most out of opportunities?
  2. you still posting in here? thought you "called" the loss a few pages ago? anyways, i hope this teaches the Crew not to give away at-bats when they're up 8.
  3. 2 schools of thought on this... some announcers flap their gums, some act like they're in the dugout. superstitions are just that... just keep what you're doing. i was going to leave work to see GER - POR, and the Crew too... but now I'm tempting fate.
  4. Oy. Can Kapler play 2nd base? Seriously though, how long would it take a grinder like him to pick up only what he needed to be SERVICEABLE there? Offense outweighing the defense a la Rynasaurus Braunx 2007.
  5. McClung - Randy Johnson gave me that warm feeling inside. Sheets - Jimenez looked like a loss immediately McClung - Oswalt is like that second shot of tequila warm again
  6. Yost was prescient enough - or is it straight perma-omniscience? - to not have Villy pitch 2 last night so he'd be available today. We are fortunate to have such a manager.
  7. While Randy Johnson - Seth McClung gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, tonight's match-up does quite the opposite. Hey Prince, the atmosphere has a lower density in Denver than it does anywhere else. Please hit a 360' flyball that turns into a 363' home run somewhere in that bandbox.
  8. Owings - Parra? ah hell, disappointment sets in... somebody told me it was going to be Coutlangus paired up with Bush today.
  9. Fortunately for y'all that live outside of Chicago - "not caring what the Cubs do anymore" is at least a viable option. The relentless radio time, numbing newspaper inches, television bombardment, wafting wrigleyville stench and general Cub-fan elation are defiantly un-avoidable for any organism within eyesight of the Sears Tower. But... if I had to pick one team that I wanted to see the Crew to beat to win the pennant it would be the Cubs. Oddly enough, probably at Wrigley too (with 46K+ watching inside Miller). Cubs beat the NL east foe, assuming that scrum results in the lower seed; Brewers take care of the D-bags... and all of a sudden we've got an NLCS for the ages; a rivalry in its infancy matures rapidly.
  10. Not accroding to GameDay. Really? Gameday tracks blood types? I enjoy selective quoting.
  11. That was just for show. GENEROUS strike 3 call! Alligator blood for Torres.
  12. oh quite the contrary... seems like we are still immaturely guilty of playing "up" and "down" to whoever shows up. tell this to: Santana Hamels Wainwright Penny Beckett (moral victory only) Hudson
  13. I am willing to accept a win 3 / lose 1, win 3 / lose 1 approach to the season from here on out.
  14. nice at-bat Accosta! "NL Baseball: helping crooked numbers stay off the board since..." then again, Campillo's single made the top of 5th 5 instead of 3 It would be really nice if Cox paid for that. Can the Brewers get 5?
  15. This belongs in yesterday's IGT... but I'm a rule breaker and don't do well with authority: Tim Hudson: "They started changing their approaches. Earlier in the game they were a little more patient. Later in the game, they put the ball in play earlier in the count." Way to go Mr. Batting Coach Guy.
  16. One of those 2 includes driving down to US Cowhiskeyular Park, a wicked 5 mile detour on the front end of the "road trip." The Cubs have ONE 3-city trip. ONE. This schedule REAKS of MLB trying to get all David Stern and inserting tentacles trying to market the "100 year" curse angle. I am usually level headed on conspiracy theories, but this one is fishy. To wit, the Brewers take a total of 8 of their season's off days on the road. The Cubs: 4. How many total off days are there for any team? The best thing that can happen is A LOT of rain at Wrigley just wreaking havoc on their preciously massaged schedule. edit: odd time to think exactly alike regarding the Sox park visit
  17. that's a little too high concept for the dugout staff, RL. having your only .300 hitter purposefully make an out is right on this crew... Kapler some Boston training.
  18. I don't know why there aren't more tag ups of second base on deep fly balls to center like Cameron's just there. Went to US Comisksmellular this past Thursday and saw the Sox win a game because Brian Anderson alertly took 2nd on a CF fly... 2 batters later a single proves to score the game winner. Certainly Rickie is fast enough. A fly ball like that is either a homer, so you don't need to be 60% of the way to 2nd... or caught and you're retreating.
  19. steaming fly buzzing horse dung call. who could possible reverse that in real time?! Yost not getting ejected. Yost letting Shouse have Young. I have owned up and admitted in 2 recent IGTs that "Yost has done nothing wrong" but that Shouse judgment is atrociously kindergardenian.
  20. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/Gold_glove_award_eric_chavez.jpg whether or not that was a HR... (was) that was 2 abominable plays by Cameron on the carom and the throw. Wow.
  21. BTW, that Dimitri Young play on Dillon's check swing hospital ball was the biggest butcher job I've seen by an infielder in recent memory. The "getaway day strikezone" will be in effect for these last couple innings. Whatever Braun saw the Brewers not having against Boston, I feel the Nationals have now; I gots a good feeling about the W today.
  22. Burgleflicking Weeks! Cost Ben a chance - at least - of the W. Gosh freeaking fudgcicle bollacks crimmminy!
  23. I could watch Benny snap curveballs all day. I miss our offense. I really miss Yovanni.
  24. OMG 'member a week ago when Yost waz such an IDIOT and left Sheets in the game and he finished with 123 pitches!?! Yeah, uh, I hope Benny gots it today. oh, and nothing like swapping your 8 and 9 hitters to really juice up the line-up... Delusional.
