  1. regardless of workload, i believe Mota is not what you would call 9th inning material
  2. somebody check Prince's hamstrings... yowZA! web gem #7 for RW/PF (on the strength of the stretch) and #2 for Kapler Yost's motivational speeches are sure paying off.
  3. Well, that was certainly an ace-like performance! Awesome. a true scattering of 11 hits. 122nd penultimate pitch was 94mph. I am going to say - for the 2nd consecutive night - that Ned Yost did nothing wrong tonight. I know, shocking. But I reserve the right to retract that statement 5 days from now when Benny is gassed in the 5th inning. Or during a critical September start when dead arm sets in in earnest.
  4. interesting note from the Pirate commentary regarding Kendall "vowing never to bunt again" after the ankle injury... I wonder if that's why he botched the suicide squeeze sign against St Louis a week ago...?
  5. this place is turning into the JS Online diarrhea festival
  6. Have Frank deliver him personally. comedy amongst tragedy... ah i love it
  7. Melvin was in Nashville talking to his insurance company about exactly what kind of policy he had on Gagne's $10M and imagining what loophole was exploitable to have funds recouped?
  8. our table setters suck... the bases are always empty for Braun
  9. 116th pitch was a 93 MPH heater to K McClouth. Whale of an outing Manny, well done. Yost has done nothing wrong tonight.
  10. are these Pirates announcers on MLB.tv halfway in the grave? or did they bring on 2 guys from another team that have no interest whatsoever?
  11. I really liked his take on this... the other day when he was announcing Gavin Floyd's bid. He reiterated the taboo term over and over, saying he did the same thing a year earlier for Beuhrle's. He said it is not okay to talk to the pitcher on the bench (of course), but as far as a "jinx" goes from media sources - it is all WAY over blown.
  12. too bad the Fonz is going to run away with NL Player of the Week... that would have been some quality publicity for Braun on the heels of the contract story.
  13. so let me get this straight... McClung walks Manny to load the bases, with 0 outs, on the road, down 2... and DiFelice would have been the option? at least Yost is consistent.
  14. anybody else catch that "BK Hot Zone" break down on Rickie? what an embarrassment. the announcers didn't even know what to say. "...yep, he, uh, likes it down the middle..." several of the 9 areas were .000, and they mercifully colored red one zone at .286 "hot".
  15. posted on here said it best: "swings a wet newspaper for a bat" I am so ready for this experiment to be over.
  16. you kiddin me? Presumed Baseline: 08: 455K (Brewers's rating system) 09: 660K (ditto) 10: 950K (ditto) 11: 7M (arby year 1) 12: 8.5M (arby year 2) 13: 10M (arby year 3) 14: 15M (FA year 1) 15: 15M (FA year 2) I think those numbers are reasonably on the conservative side of life... and that is 8 years totaling 57.5M. 45M is wonderful! edit: the giant *assumption in the room is production. I'll roll the dice with this one 10 times outta 10
  17. hip hip hooray. I really dig what Hank Steinbrenner recently said about the Yankees "needing to play like minor leaguers (or more aptly, like the Rays) trying to earn a first contract" or something to that extent. I do not think this is a concern with Braun. He seems like he is motivated to be the best player in the game, regardless of coin. Fielder, on the other hand, is motivated by money and a need to spite his father. We need old man Cecil to come to the ballpark and say some disparraging remarks to get the Round Mound of Pound properly fired up.
  18. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005RT3M.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg hopefully? uniform change of course.
  19. in other news: "...Gabe Gross singled with no outs in the 11th inning to drive in the first run Mariano Rivera has allowed all season, giving Tampa Bay a 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees and sending the Rays into first place in the AL East...."
  20. Yost must have alligator blood and does have one hell of a poker face. I bet his dentist asks him if he clenches his teeth together a lot. His molars must be smooth as glass.
  21. high slide could have blown out JJ's somethingCL there. oy
  22. Hmmm, let's see... 3 game winning streak gain a game on the Cubs (T Hoffman pending) Villy's win move above .500 all signs point to embattled closer!
  23. I'm ready for Dillon to be the #1 option of the bench. This TGJ experiment has run its course.
  24. gotta think if Gagne loses Martin that Shouse comes in for the lefty Dewitt. preemptive OMG.
  25. what, 11/20 with 7 runs & 6 RBI in 5 games is good? to think, the Pacific Northwesterners in my league scoffed when I dealt J Ro for Braunie straight up.
