  1. Well the Astros failed to sign Brady Aiken plus their number 5 pick and now fact the wrath of MLBPA. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11233212/houston-astros-fail-sign-no-1-overall-pick-brady-aiken Disappointed the Brewers couldn't sign one of those guys but it could be worse.
  2. Last day to sign draftees. Mass, I hope you're out on the Cape talking Kolton Mahoney into signing.
  3. Manatees will have a manager walkthrough at 5 ET. Earliest they would start. Sounds like the field is in bad shape. They already have 4 doubleheaders scheduled in, I think, 8 days so the 'Tees will have a brutal schedule the second half.
  4. Big surprise. Manatees in a rain delay. They hope to start around 4:45 to 5 (ET).
  5. Deeter has looked good in a closer type role. But he's a college guy who should do well. Sthervin Matos has hit well in Helena but if you include his stint in Maryvale, it's more pedestrian. With more games, some of these guys should be able to show more of what they can do. Tomorrow is the last day to sign draftees right? Hopefully, they can get Kolton Mahoney that Mass has linked a couple of times. They are probably holding out on him and will maybe sign somebody else if they can't sign Mahoney?
  6. I would suggest that the Maryvale box score not be posted. The Tribe whooped them but good.
  7. Hilarious. Good thing the Birds' fans are so classy. http://www.jrn.com/wtmj/wi-sports/milwaukee-brewers/Cardinals-fans-did-not-like-seeing-Lucroy-catch-Adam-Wainwright-267261611.html
  8. I usually check the box scores on MiLB first and then check here, primarily for the link reporters' comments which I find valuable. I also use the audio/video stuff from here which I would probably not see otherwise. It's good to get all the games' audio feeds linked here rather than have to mess with MiLB which is not very user friendly for that. I still say Mass should be on the wall of fame at Miller. Who has done more for the Brewers?
  9. Right on cue, after TheCrew07 called him out yesterday, Coulter with a grand slam plus a walk so far today. DH'ing.
  10. 2 scoreless innings for Yamamoto in his Maryvale debut. Congratulations young man!
  11. On the bright side, Thiago Silva now looks like the greatest/most important player in the universe given Brazil's performance without him. Upon further review, not so much. Let Robben get behind him in the first minutes and should have been red carded. Although it probably shouldn't have been a penalty, it amounted to the same result. Brazil was never coming back after that play. David Luiz looked even worse though. No discipline at all.
  12. Denson rehabbing in Maryvale, had to come out in the 6th inning. He had one double in 3 at bats before that.
  13. Excellent outing by Fiers but no support. 3 singles by Velez is it. Sounds lose. Gindl now in an 0-18 slump. The whole organization with a few exceptions seems to be in a slump right now. Zarraga pinch hit and walked and then threw out an attempted base stealer so there was that.
  14. I would presume that Medeiros will not pitch much this year. All those showcases and so forth. The Brewers will want to limit him while getting his feet wet. There's plenty of time.
  15. Predictions for final eight: Brazil over Columbia, France over Germany Netherlands over Costa Rica, Argentina over Belgium Brazil vs Argentina Brazil to win Disagree?
  16. Maryvale is under way with an early start for 7/3. Jim Henderson starting in a rehab stint. Burkhalter was supposed to start, will probably be in later. Caleb Smith came in with 1 out in the second. Hopefully not a setback for JH.
  17. Fooling around with baseball reference this morning. Who's walking for the Brewers? Yunior Santana getting a walk every 3.8 plate appearances. Monte Harrison every 4.8. Okay those guys are in rookie ball with few at bats against wild pitchers. Then you have Michael Reed 5.2 PAs and Taylor Brennan 5.6 PAs. Other notables: David Denson 5.8, Nick Shaw 6.0, Brandon Diaz 6.0, Logan Schafer 6.4 (minors only), Shawn Zarraga 6.5, Clint Coulter 6.6. On the other end is Mike Garza 39.6 although he's shown a good hit tool this year. Nick Delmonico 23.5, Johnnie Davis 20.2, Hunter Morris 19.4.
  18. Now on official Brewers' page: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mil/brewers-lock-up-star-international-prospect-gilbert-lara?ymd=20140628&content_id=82057432&vkey=news_mil
  19. I could see Josh Prince as a platoon partner with Scooter next year if the Brewers wanted to continue that way. He has an OBP around .350 pretty consistently. He doesn't have Scooter's hit tool but he does other things well.
  20. Baby Brewers headed to the 13th. Nice day for Gatewood in particular. 13th. Harrison on 2nd. Base hit by Tanner Norton--Harrison out at home, Norton out at 2nd. Yikes.
  21. Oh dear. 2 runs score on balls that get by Coulter. Rattlers now trail. Diaz with 5 scoreless innings before loading the bases in the 6th. Banda's turn is being skipped.
  22. Tucker Neuhaus with a home run today. Good to see after a slow start this year. He was also the pregame interview today.
  23. Good run by Mexico but not enough again. I think they went conservative too soon like Roberto Martinez suggested. Has to be a nightmare to have Robben man to man with Marquez in the penalty area.
  24. I wonder if the Brewers aren't trying to control Nelson's innings so that he will be available at the end of the season. Remember what happened with Strassburg a couple of years ago. The Nats had to shut down their top pitcher as the playoffs were about to begin. Good problem to have though (what to do with Nelson that is).
  25. At the moment, the Brewers are something like 16 1/2 games ahead of the D-Backs. Let them celebrate small "victories".
