  1. Haniger homers. He has really picked it up lately at the plate after a sluggish start. Good to see. Edit. A second home run gives the Stars the lead back in a slugfest.
  2. Stars clinch the playoffs with a Smokies loss. Remember last year at this time, everything was going bad for the Brewers? It's hard to imagine a better start for the whole organization than they have had this year. Now get Charlie Greene up to Appleton to work with Coulter on his catching skills.
  3. Start of Rattlers game will be delayed (rain). Should start around 1 PM with resumption of yesterday's game.
  4. Pena will come in in the bottom of the 4th.
  5. Regardless of whether Braun scores or not, never make the last out at 3rd. Isn't that the rule?
  6. Manatees in trouble in this double header. Only 3 relief pitchers available due to the flu and Magnifico has served up his first 3 gopher balls of the year all in game one. edit. Well Magnifico made it through 6 innings. Hopefully, Ross can do that much too.
  7. I don't know why people think Wang would be sharp when he comes in once every 2 weeks. Even veterans would struggle with that.
  8. If you ask Kirk Gibson, it's the steroids in Ryan Braun (just the roids, mind you, not Braun at all). [laughing] Which is why I loved the hiring of LaRussa. Gibby's head must be exploding.
  9. Josh Prince after bunting for a base hit in his first at bat, hits a home run to tie the game. Probably players will be juggled after the draft. McFarland seems like he's ready to move up also. D'Vo just singled in the lead run off the Minors' ERA leader.
  10. D'Vo threw out a runner at the plate as the Stars are in a pitcher's duel.
  11. He doesn't have much power though. Only 12 career home runs and 13 in his high for 2Bs in a season.
  12. It could be like hockey where you retain the rights upon drafting the player even through college. On a different note, it's been a long time since the hitting stats for the Brewers' Minor league affiliates were this bleak. The Manatees' hitting stats are not for the faint of heart.
  13. I wonder who decides baseball etiquette when the Pirates face the Cards?
  14. Suter's ERA actually went UP with that game. Wow.
  15. Denson with a Ricky Henderson hat trick (base hit, walk and stolen base). Coming along.
  16. Beat me to it Crew!
  17. Pretty good day for Coulter so far. If you are watching the Brewers you may want this radio broadcast on in the background.
  18. Make sure they're both expected retail price. I suspect Edmunds actually uses Kelly Blue Book. You can also check TruCar which, I think, has used cars and NADA. There is also Black Book but may not be open to the public. One of your sources may be from a different date. I get $5725 retail on NADA but it may not be the same Outback. Cylinders? Trim? The Edmunds price could be trade-in value which is always less by about that much.
  19. Morales could have taken the money offered. He chose not to. He and his agent miscalculated and now it will cost him a lot of money. MLBPA agreed to this system.
  20. I would be interested to know how Coulter looked behind the plate. If anyone saw it in person or on Milb TV let us know. Over the radio, it seemed like fewer balls were getting by him although there was one dropped 3rd strike I remember.
  21. Thanks in advance to all link reporters. It's much appreciated. Looking forward to the minor league season.
  22. It could be nothing more than a guy from New Orleans finding out he didn't like Wisconsin winters.
  23. Splits for Wily Peralta; ERA K/9 WHIP Apr/May 5.02 4.7 1.465 May 7.71 6.1 2.000 June 4.33 4.3 1.415 July 2.14 7.8 1.105 August 4.25 6.7 1.247 Sept/Oct 3.42 8.7 1.394 My point being that he is much better the 2nd half of the year. My recollection is that he was this way in the Minors also. Hopefully, they can get him started early this year. If he can match the last half of the year, the Brewers will have themselves a quality pitcher.
