  1. Anyone know if all teams are using this process from here on out as an effort to hurt scalpers or if it's just us trying it due to the Cubs issue?
  2. I tend to agree. Sellers may be more apt to panic and drop their prices significantly to ensure at least some profit and that they don't get stuck with the extra tickets. I like the theory behind what they are trying to do, but again this is a bit of an attack on elderly people or people that don't have easy access to a phone or printer. And I'm sure there will be at least a dozen yahoos that have a phone die on them while in line to get in the stadium. And some Cubs fans will still find their way in. I have to assume the ratio will be much more favorable to Brewer fans though. I can't imagine Cubs fans getting their hands on 3/4 of the tickets like they generally seem to. And on people that legitimately had something come up and can't go. Or bought extra and turns out others couldn't go. For example, I bought 4 for every game not knowing who will be available to go with. could easily turn out due to being midweek night games that I have two extra here or there. But now it's difficult.
  3. The guy really does deserve a WS before he passes. Really needs to happen. I don't know how anyone could not like those few innings. All seemed natural to me,you can tell these guys just sit around BS all day about baseball and generally like each other. Also as far as comments on his schlicht not working on TV. Yes I get that you don't have to call out every detail like on the radio. But in a way a guy able to tell stories and just kinda BS seems like it would fit better on TV than the radio because on the radio you have to give those details of the game, tv not so much. I know i'd prefer what Bob was doing over the massive over analyzing, overcritizing every mistake and know it all that come with the national broadcasts these days.
  4. I think a lot of people will be tuning out the Packers this weekend. You are underestimating this big time. The Packers are always going to be more popular in this state, regardless of how the teams are actually doing. It sucks, but that's just the way it is. It is pretty awesome that the Brewers are stealing some Packer thunder as we head into October, but to the majority of of Wisconsin sports fans, the Packers will always be #1, probably followed by the Badgers at #2, and the Brewers and Bucks a distant #3-#4. I rarely need to listen to anything on the radio anymore. But I'll be curious what they do Sunday if the Brewer game has huge significance. I saw some tweets last week telling people where to find the game on the radio because Packer game is on every station. Years ago I used to get frustrated you couldn't listen to late season Brewer games because they had to air 3 hours of pregame for Packer's preseason games of Joe from Suamico breaking down the 4th string D linenman who has no shot at making the team.
  5. Maybe IDK. My guess is because people now think they might be there to clinch and/or win the division. or win a big game to take the division lead etc. But yea could also just simply be people are fired up after the last 3 days, who knows. Or a combination, kind of like the chance at the division has the people fired up.
  6. That makes sense really, the last 3 days have made these games way more important as opposed to possibly being meaningless. I had been looking at going Friday or Sunday when it was cheap a few days ago but never bought because i figured they'd more or less have the WC locked up even if not 'technically'. Whereas now they have a legit shot at winning the division. After spending $1500 on playoff tickets yesterday, I'll probably hold off on going as of now unless someone convinces me. Maybe Sunday will be surprisingly cheap on account of people care more about a regular season Packer game vs the Bills than the Brewers winning the division.
  7. The way I read 538 though it just says division winner. Not factoring tie and subsequent tie break game. So take our 47% chance to win that tiebreaker and add to CHL's other 27 and it goes up to the same area, if not higher. Don't wanna do the math in my head. They actually predict a tie in the simulation on 538
  8. When I looked at pitching matchups and saw Williams in this game I marked it down as our chance. I mentioned it in some IGT threads and pointed it out to a bunch of friends. hopefully he pitches as well today as he has vs us, but with classic Brewer fan pessimism you fear he'll lay an egg today. It's basically a toss up game to me since Lester is also good. however, Vegas has Cubs as -160 today. Seems good value on Pitt there.
  9. 15 more wins you mean Exactly, 14 to go
  10. Does that mean that the Cubs also get to celebrate tonight, after getting shut out by Nova? If the Cardinals lose, the Cubs clinch a spot. I read somewhere Cubs will not be celebrating Wild Card clinch Coach Cooper approves. you don't celebrate 2nd place.
  11. More and extended commercial breaks. More reviews. I assume PPG have gone up due to all the rules against the D but it's still not very wide open. Most team/offenses look exactly the same etc. There's only two games on at most at a time, usually only one. So if it's a dud of a matchup and/or blowout then I'd rather watch one of the countless great TV shows I can't keep up on. I just get bored with the games and struggle to stay awake, it's not out of any protest of politics or specific rules for me. I think they've overexposed themselves a bit too much combined with the quality of the product going down. Thought what they're doing with the rules is contributing to the product lacking, it's just impossible to make the sport safe, they're risking watering down the game with all this and killing the golden goose.
  12. Phillies were definitely the best overall team. Yet another example of the old "gotta have aces in the playoffs" not being the end all be all. I was so jacked when they got knocked out, gave us home field and didn't have to face those pitchers. But of course, Cardinals...
  13. I've seen that phrasing before regarding 2011 not being a real WS contender. They had a 1-0 lead with home field advantage in the NLCS and home field in the WS. That in itself seems like a WS contender to me. They were the Vegas favorite with 4 teams left.
  14. Yea that's the weak spot in 2011. Why he started Kotsay with Morgan/Gomez IDK. But this team also has very weak hitting SS and C their holes. Plus not nearly the TOR starters of 2011. Also had a very good bullpen that year too. I see the argument of course, I'd just say the Greinke/Gallardo combo is enough to outweigh that Yuni B issue. Not old enough to comment on the 80s teams. Thanks for Fingers info, surprised I didn't know that or had forgotten it.
  15. Yea I'd say 2011 was better than this on paper and even going into the postseason. Mostly due to the Greinke/Gallardo top of rotation along with a loaded offensive lineup. It's not like they backed in like in 2008 either. Probably a good thread to ask this to some of the long timers alive to remember 82. Uecker said last night the Brewers had the better team in 82 than STL but had some guys hurt or unable to go in the WS. I don't recall what he was referring to, any care to share who was hurt for that Series or what he was referring to?
  16. Mostly good news, but kind of sad too. I think there is only 15 games left in the season for the Brewers.
  17. Didn't it have a limit of 4 per person for each game? I probably would've bought more if I could or knew. I didn't think of the party areas either, probably would've been cool to do. But playoffs I'll be kind of more focused on the game so IDK.
  18. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was and how many were available. I prefer second deck seats due to the view and the price point makes it ok for even non diehard friends who might say No if the cost was $120. Got them all no problem. thanks to those who pointed out the "add additional events". I think I would've noticed it but there's a chance I'd have messed it up.
  19. Albers isn't making the playoff roster. he pitched Sunday and gave up 2. Maybe better off letting guys like Lyles and Barnes, or whoever might be needed at some point get an inning to stay sharp. IDK. But yea if no one 'needs' work then whatever
  20. If I recall, Coach Cooper is from the Chicago burbs. Maybe he could come down and give a talk to the team if he hasn't passed. Yeli might've locked up that MVP 100% tonight. Now he's basically tied with Baez in HRs and the gap is significantly closed on RBIs
  21. IF my memory is right Yelich led out a pretty good bark last night after spinning around at him, moving the bat around, I could be crazy though. again, I'm just generally on the side of the umps need to get out of the way. Regardless of this exact situation, just my general take on it so probably skewing my view here. I mean we kind of sound like the Cards fans here with our rules of baseball haha. Anyway, remember that Cy Williams pitches for the Pirates on Thursday. This could get really interesting the next few days, good stuff.
  22. Didn't Yelich do it just last night? Showed up the ump barking at him right to his face? Could be wrong, been a lot of games lately. Just saying it happens so think the same for our guys. But I agree that last turn did him in, he was given a good leash and he went too far, he knew he was on the line and risked it.
  23. Two rights then Wong, P spot, then Adams. Probably going Soria. Then maybe Jennings for Wong. Nevermind, Thanks Braun!!!
  24. Walking away but barking at the ump with his head turned. He had every right to be tossed. I get that. and generally speaking we don't have guys who do that. Guys talk a lot but usually it seems very polite if you will, calm is probably a good word. But if he's walking away just let him rant and let it go, deep down he probably realized that was a bad call not soon after he made it. I of course get tossing him too, he let him have his piece but still said one more thing there and that was his limit. Fine. I'm just in general sick of umps making terrible calls and then tossing guys for telling them it was a terrible call. For all teams. The rules say NO arguing balls and strikes. Players get enough leeway as it is. Really, it happens all the time. I'm talking the real world where it goes on all the time including our guys. Again, I totally get tossing him too as I said, that last turn and bark was it. Just saying I wouldn't have there due to the situation here of playoff baseball. And just my in general stance that the umps are a bit out of control these days so I just lean that way on this stuff at this point. That's it, I totally get the other view too.
