  1. There's no good options. If Jeffress is willing to try I'd still go with him. He'd be my most trusted even with last night. I'm sure he's off limits though. Barnes FTW huh?
  2. I gotta say, I wouldn't mind seeing them just deal Thames for whatever this offseason. He can be a frustrating player and there's no real space for him now. Especially if somehow Moose comes back, which I doubt. but if he did this would free up ABs at 1B.
  3. in an extra inning game we just had one of our few guys available and one who can go multiple innings only throw 5 pitches. crossing my fingers on the scraps coming out of the pen the rest of the way
  4. Seemed like an easy double switch opportunity last inning. Burnes in for Moose, Shaw in for P
  5. Probably one of those whichever way it was called type plays. Likely out if you had to pick but I see how you couldn't tell for sure
  6. This is a simple smart way to look at it as well. I've probably come down from initial take of 'worst call ever' type view to at least seeing the gray area. But even looking at it this way I still think K because he just didn't get the bat back quickly enough.
  7. Another thing that popped in my head off the last couple posts. Say in theory he had been involved in this in some capacity since Miami, seems like a good chance but who knows. Anway, that would've started in the 03-5ish timeframe which was still pretty much prime "everyone's doing it" type mode of the steroid area. That's not an excuse or anything but when looking back at in hindsight would he have done it again type scenarios it seems relevant. Basically, in spite of it not surfacing until 2012/13 well after the boom the whole decision/path could've been started in a totally different landscape. Still, in his spot I think I probably quit as soon as I sign that extension since I'm set for life and don't need another contract so why risk it and ruin my name. But that's easier said than done if you've been getting away with it for years.
  8. I think Mays' post is a simple and true way to look at it and why it should be a K.
  9. If sent to a non playoff minor league couldn't they come back up on the 1st or 2nd?
  10. This. We are in a pennant race, we need all forms of superstitions in play. Not blue font. I'm in a pennant race too. He's staying on my bench. I picked him up for the playoffs next week with him having 7 games. Wanted to see how he looked this week before making a decision on whether to play him, so far this week it doesn't look good. Hopefully that last one more day and then he gets hot over the weekend
  11. I think it was proven that these variations in temperature can change test results though. They either recreated or used an Olympic person who had recreated it as 'evidence'. Again, in this case it was BS so it doesn't matter but I think they scientifically proved handling of this nature can change results (though of course not every time, just that it's possible). One would think they've cleaned up this process greatly after this whole fiasco. I've spent too much time on this already so don't want to verify if this memory was correct or not, so I'm not gonna be too bold or anything. But I remember the crappy handling correctly, so at least a decent chance I'm right, as long as it wasn't BS to begin with Parks and Rec joke that popped in my head after reading the 'low road' line. From Aziz, "I always tell people to take the high road. Then there's more room for me on the low road"
  12. Wasn't Melky Cabrera the one who had someone create a fake website for some kind of medication or something to try and cheat his way through the appeal? I wonder if he gets bood every AB Found it: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/exclusive-daily-news-uncovers-bizarre-plot-melky-cabrera-fake-website-duck-drug-suspension-article-1.1139623
  13. OK thanks, hadn't seen a report yet. Thought a concussion protocol could come in play too. But in two days you can have Nottingham here for emergency even if he isn't fully game ready yet.
  14. You're right. This discussion only applies to the camp who say "I hate for him throwing the collector under the bus who did nothing wrong", which likely isn't correct. Someone in here made that type of comment which led to this. Doesn't change that Braun did the crime
  15. According to BRaun's camp they requested an immediate retest once he was informed and he passed it. Quick googling seems it was about 2 weeks after. I guess what you're saying though is they should've just tossed them all after it couldn't be shipped that night and tested them again the next available day.
  16. To my memory neither Bandy or Bethancourt are on the 40 man, correct if wrong but seems to check out B/R. So you'd have to let someone go if/when you need to bring them up for Pina. Complicates it a bit. I'd guess Orf would be the one to go but I'm guessing they'll try to survive the next two days without making a move.
  17. Yes, I agree that he was trying to do it but he hadn't done it yet. It's that simple in my book so strikeout.
  18. Laurenzi held the sample because it was too close to the FedEx deadline for overnight shipping. Let's say that it's your sample that has been collected. Would you rather have the sample held by the sample collector who can put it in his basement where only he and his wife has access, and that person is documented as having responsibility for the integrity of the sample? Or would you rather the sample be left at a FedEx office for 24 hours, where any number of random employees could access the sample or it could wind up in the back of a hot truck/storeroom over that timeframe? If the guy is taking it home he should have to refrigerate it and then take it in immediately when able. Not leave it in a car trunk until the afternoon on a hot day. If it's take to Fedex and get sent out first thing next morning or have him hold it for 2.5 days unrefrigerated and then outdoors in the heat, I probably go Fedex. If Fedex is trusted with chain of custody for the duration of normal shipping why wouldn't they be trusted to hold it from 6pm to 6am the next morning? If not, then MLB should hire all their own people to handle all of this. But as Plush was saying, maybe all these things he did were within his company instructions then he personally did nothing wrong (which is what we're discussing here), I just can't imagine this type of holding was the recommended way of doing it. Again, we all know Braun did it, No one is claiming innocence.
  19. I get how it would be feasible to pull a bunt back and the ball hit the bat. In this situation though, he hadn't done it yet. The bat was pretty much still square with the plate. Strikeout.
