  1. There, corrected. Not sure when this practice started, but it drives me nuts. Golf courses should outlaw it. The people who do this are the same people you can hear talking 2 fairways away..."Me, I, and me, myself, me, I, me, me, myself, and I.......". The sense of self importance that some people have is intolerable. With how much golf has fallen off in recent years, especially with young people, they're doing all they can to do things to accommodate younger people. I really don't think you can blame the courses for allowing it, they're all going to go under soon and the private membership clubs will too as all the old folks pass away. If you've ever spent time in one of those it's rare to see anyone under 40, heck even 50. That said, you can play your own music and keep it at a normal volume and it's really not a big deal. no need to have it cranked to 11.
  2. Get Guerra back, trade for a top level pitcher like Quintana. Pitching problems are fixed, championship.
  3. Yea might as well ride him for another few weeks and see what happens. We're not winning it all this year. If he continues this way then move to Knebel. Who knows, maybe could even flip hiim right away too while he's hot and get a good return ala the Smith, Thornberg, Jeffress strategy.
  4. I'd like to see Broxton and Santana play well the whole rest of the year without getting hurt before worrying about it. I mean, 2-3 weeks ago the topic here was how long until we pull the plug on them because they were so bad. Now they do well for a bit and they're for sure good. Both guys got hurt last year too. Relax, it'll play itself out.
  5. That's it right there. I'd also add comment to the deserve top prospects aspect. Even beyond, I think the right attitude of management (and fans for that matter) should be that if you're not getting top prospects then you might as well just keep him. After Garza is gone he'll be the only significant contract on the team. So if you're not getting anything back for him besides salary dump, might as well just keep him, lobby for the DH, and wait and see if there is a contending AL team next year that needs him. Boston could be it, they could really use him in this lineup and next year they'll have Moreland's contract gone and one year closer to the end of Hanley/Pablo.
  6. He has missed almost 40% of the Brewer's games so far...that is pretty concerning(I include 3 games he failed to go more than 6 innings). What is more concerning is the sheer volume of things nagging him. Once these things start to nag him I am sure they will show up again and again. Think his thumb, back, hamstring, and oblique that have all bothered him in recent years. Is he going to have arm/trap/calf issues now? Like I said I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, but it only seems to be trending the wrong way for Braun. I honestly can't remember the last guy who had this many different injuries in a months time. I mean, did you read the rest of my post? That said, rewind 3 weeks ago and everyone was saying the opposite. He just completed a healthy season, was raking, and the talk was how we should hold out for top prospects. Heck, you could probably just go up in this thread and see it. Now a minor arm injury and a strained calf and we're talking about 4th OF and like he's a huge liability or something. People just need to chill on the overreactions, not only on this topic but based on any hot or cold streak a player has. I don't advocated for the DH because of Braun. I advocate for it because it's absolutely dumb to have different rules in each league. I prefer to make pitchers hit, but I know the union won't allow it. So it's inevitable the DH will come eventually.
  7. Thing is he's still smoking the ball whenever he plays and these injuries are just so minor that we shouldn't overreact. But yea for a team looking at a 4 yr commitment if they don't have a DH I see them not taking the risk of it all. Looking at AL contending teams that need DH help you're pretty much looking just at Boston. He'd probably do it for a chance at a title, but I of course have no idea for sure on that. Plus they have money locked up in DH types already in Hanley, Pablo and Moreland, it's just that none are doing anything. Sure they have unlimited budget but still doubtful they'll put more money into it and none of those guys would have any role coming back here to offset salary. For SoCal, Angels aren't really contenders and I doubt they want to be playing Pujols every day at 1B. Maybe he and Braun can go back and forth between DH and 1B I suppose. Thames revelation also eliminates the possibility of opening up an Of spot if Braun or Santana moved to 1B. Long story short, DH can't come quick enough for the Brewers.
  8. Brewers at #11 in CBS Sports power ranking, we all know how meaningful that is. Also, about to be .5 game ahead of the mighty Cubs 20% of the way through the season.
  9. Yea I had to pay for parking on gameday for the first time in like 7 years a couple Sundays ago. Was shocked to see $25 for it, wow. Paying the $10 parking per game with season tickets might be the best value they offer.
  10. Wildcat, that doesn't belong in this thread, haha. Broxton has been heating up the last week or so and looking like what he hoped. If guys like him and Villar hit hot streaks right as people like the Cs and Thames level off it will still keep the offense doing just fine.
  11. There's really no reason Bronson couldn't hang in the NBA if guys like Delladova, TJ McConnell, and Kirk Heinrich can. First, it comes down to him and how hard he's willing to work and willingness to do more of the role player hustle type stuff. And second, he'd need to somewhat luck into the right situation. I agree he probably won't ever play in a real NBA game, but he has more talent than those guys but who knows if he has the same drive they do. Also, we all know shooting is king right now and BK's shot is perfect. If I'm him I work my tail off to get better at all the little things and at least take a swing in the D league for a year or two before giving up on NBA and taking Euro money. If you can just find a way to get some PT and prove yourself enough to get a FA contract as a backup you're set for life with the cap boom.
  12. I don't think I've seen a Mike Fetters mention yet. I remember he had that mean mug game face scowl he'd put on. Pretty sure he usually had a sweaty mullet to go with it, but don't remember for sure.
  13. A lot of the main programming has become more like 'TMZ' as opposed to sports. Perhaps that's not what he's referring to, but maybe? Kap, Aaron Hernandez, Jenner, etc. I really don't care to see how many times Kap kneels, or who he kneels with(and I'm a Niner fan). If I want to read about the Hernandez case I will go to a reputable news source. That's my biggest beef really. it's all about this and talking heads arguing about it. I want to see what happens in sports, that's it
  14. I actually just said they might as well let everyone go that doesn't cover NFL, that's all they cover anyway.
  15. I think Ed Sedar would qualify. Shocking how many Sedar jerseys you see at games.
  16. I don't think they'll lose more than 4, maybe 5 games the rest of the year.
  17. Doesn't help when you are old and have missed 2 of the last 3 seasons due to knee injury. And an atrocious offensive line, close to the worst in the league bad. Oh like the Packers for running? So how does that help him? Not nearly as bad as the Vikes last year. Of course we did let another quality guy go this offseason, so chances are worse next year.
  18. IDK, both not young and Pomeranz was very mediocre before that first half in a massive pitchers park last year. I mean his previous innings pitched were 86, 69, 21 and started a total of 23 games the previous 3 seasons and you're talking like he was a proven top pitcher or something. One good half season in a pitchers park and he got a legit prospect. Gets to a hitters park and has done poor since. I guess I wouldn't say I know enough about him but yea maybe your point about him being a former touted prospect was key and being a couple years younger. Your first point about not knowing what other players do etc is spot on though, pretty much need a perfect situation to happen to create a demand for a mediocre guy like Anderson. Somewhat like happened with Boston in Bucholz going to crap for Boston while they were a contender.
  19. Doesn't help when you are old and have missed 2 of the last 3 seasons due to knee injury. And an atrocious offensive line, close to the worst in the league bad.
  20. Drew Pomeranz would probably a fair comparison last year, traded from Padres to Boston for a fairly highly rated prospect. you'd need an ideal situation for it to make sense, where a playoff team needs someone for depth in season but knows they won't be relying on the guy in the playoffs. Actually Cubs with Lackey and Anderson as their 4 and 5 would be a possibility if one or both gets hurt or sucks and a strong system to deal from, of course dealing in division is tough though. Outside of that I don't know, seems like TX and HOU are always looking for something at bottom of their rotation and we trade with them often enough.
  21. Yea at that price what do you have to lose?
  22. Other thing to remember for Scooter is that it might not have been purely on the field baseball related. He was getting 2.5 mil this season, his replacement should be around 550K. This was also a move to save 2 million dollars. Basically deciding that however much better he might be vs his replacement, he wasn't better by enough to spend 5x as much money. Basically the decision was he wasn't worth 2.5 mil unless he was a starter playing nearly every day. And going into the year you had your seemingly super util guy in Perez already, not a need for another if it costs 2.5 mil instead of 500K. I like Scooter as much as the next guy, but I totally get it. Have to pay for those new concession stands!!
  23. Maybe from Johnny Peralta while doing an interview on the field below the Mark Mcguire section in left field.
  24. They just did it with Arcia and that seems a lot more rushed than this would be a couple months from now. So it wouldn't surprise at all if they did it if one of Broxton/Santana don't do well or gets hurt. Let's just say I'd rather that than playing Kirky everyday.
