  1. And there was no reason they couldn't win in 2012. Lost Fielder but replaced him with Ramirez and Aoki, plus Gomez improved a bunch. Obviously not as good of a shot at a WS but that was a solid team. Braun of course ruined 2013 and 2014 they flopped the last month.
  2. I get maybe he was a little harsh but I appreciate someone giving real honest answers. We are complain about players giving canned predictable cliche answers that don't mean anything. Well this is why, if you speak your mind you get ripped for it. Similar to what Bo Ryan said after the Championship game about the refs and rental players.
  3. Yes, this is true. The nba buys them back for 550 million if I remember correctly. Then the team gets put up for auction. The profit gets divided between the existing owners which could mean 30 million per team. I don't know for sure but maybe this is the way Herb wanted it so the newBucks owners had the keep the team in Milwaukee. Yes, we all know this as an option. What I'm asking is if that's the only one and their locked in at that if there is no arena deal, do you know that for sure? I read that they don't want to be owners on the west coast because of the travel from NY but it would still be in there interest to sell it on their own, or move it then sell it.
  4. not a bad idea. Some of this is why I don't see why they did the Vasquez trade, seemed like I'd rather have Dudley to pack up positions 2-4 than him at 1 and 2 when you already have Bayless and Mayo. Has to be another trade in the works. I actually was just thinking about let's say they trade out Mayo. What about trying to get Ray Allen to come back for one last year with us as the backup SG. Could be good for the young guys to be around him and good PR. Don't really need him if you have Mayo. I know they asked him about it last year but our team was a joke going into last year, they're legit now.
  5. Does anyone know if it's for sure the NBA buys them? I know it's a guaranteed option but is it the only option. Could they say no to the meer 50mil profit the NBA is offering and say we'd rather sell it to the guy in Seattle for 200mil profit, or continue to own it but move the team to somewhere else? The reason you state though is probably why they've offered up as much as they have already. Maybe if this gets denied they still will pay for it but it's still smart for them to try the public funding route first.
  6. For us it's probably better he gets the days off but I'd have liked to see him in just to get it out of the way and keep his image rebuild going in the right direction. I knew Arod was playing well but I hadn't seen his stats in a while. Very impressed, somehow I find myself rooting for recovering PED guys to prove themselves as I think the media hype around it all is a joke. I find it ridiculous they don't put the best players in when they're playing for home field advantage, and when they are in they take the best players out of the game and have it come down to backups and sometimes undeserving guys that are only there because their team needed a rep. Especially love the hypocrisy of having Peralta and Cruz in but not Arod and/or Braun. I'm generally a supporter of the changes Selig has made over the years but making the ASG count is his worst move. Especially since it didn't solve the problem that led to the tie game, as it can still happen again. This was another dumb thing pushed by the media and caused an overreaction, acting like it was embarrassment to the game that an exhibition game ended in a tie. I mean, regular season NFL games end in ties, NHL games at the time ended in ties, Soccer games end in ties all the time. Who cares about an exhibition game.
  7. And even if they could afford it, it's just not good business. They didn't become billionaires by giving away 250mil just because they can. If Milwaukee won't pay, some other city will. Obviously Seattle, but also Vegas. I generally agree that it's usually a losing proposition when cities/states fund this stuff (check out what the Marlins did to Miami) and it's kind of whack that they have to. However, it's just simple capitalism, if one city won't another will. Team owners have no reason to stop doing it until they have no other options. That being said, this is one of the friendliest deals for a city/state that I remember over the years. Other than some kind of bad interest deal that sounds like is attached to it. 50% paid for by current and past owners. People say why don't they pay for it themselves, well they did chip in 150mil so they're doing their share much more than other owners. I never see it brought up but I don't see why an NBA team can't just take a low interest loan from the NBA to fill in gaps like this.
  8. Yea it's not unreasonable. I'd probably give Braun the nod over Pollack but it's not crazy to put any of those in. Have to think Braun will get hollodays spot, cards fans will love that
  9. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25234402/from-tank-to-bank-the-milwaukee-bucks-are-on-the-rise Have to find a way to get it done. Three years from now as Lebron is declining they could easily be the top team in the East. Of course a lot needs to happen between now and then but the framework is there
  10. I've never heard anyone hate on Bernie before. seems like a pretty normal mascot to me, nothing to get worked up one way or the other. Better than the whole Hank the dog [expletive deleted]
  11. That explains it, thanks. You don't see those type of things too often. Too bad they don't have that for year 4 instead of year 5
  12. There is little reason for Garza to report anything other than a major injury. He is better off playing poorly through almost injury than reporting an injury and playing well. I don't follow this at all? Why would one act healthy and pitch poorly when they could just go to the DL, which explains poor play but also would help get healthy and allow to pitch well when coming back. Also, pitching through a minor injury could lead to further injury, not worth the risk in a lost season
  13. that's generally what I thought and it basically held true after the men's WC. The women's seemed like they just went back and forth with scoring opportunities, one every couple of real time minutes. sometimes with a sustained offensive barrage with multiple tries by a team. really surprised me
  14. That makes sense, thanks for the info. It's still surprising to say women's is more entertaining than mens, I suppose due to only having basic understand I can't really appreciate some of the intricacies that would make men's more appealing, I just want to see action and scoring opportunities.
  15. Hopefully Peralta comes back strong so we have a fresh power arm for the WC game. I'm worried Jungmann will burn up all his innings and not be available for it.
  16. i really watched soccer for the first time during last year's men's WC. So I learned the basic rules and strategies. Mostly was watching because I was gambling on it but either I learned it and gained some appreciation and I watched the majority of games. For the women's I watched three total games (last two US and the Japan game in the quarters) and I was way more entertained by the women's. I don't know if it was just small sample size or what but there just seemed to be way more aggressiveness and scoring opportunities. Still, it's not like I'm going to start watching MLS or anything but I'll pay attention to Olympics and WC
  17. I think they could win the whole thing, maybe not even lose another game all year. When do we start talking about who we can trade for to make a run?
  18. Johnny Peralta and Nelson Cruz voted into the ASG. The PED stuff with Braun shouldn't be a factor
  19. Peralta hasn't really been all that great this year. Is it really that crazy to keep him in AAA until something happens with Lohse or Garza? Yes, it is.
  20. With Stanton out as far as I can tell only Harper and Peterson have more HR and only Harper more rbi among nl outfielders. Throw on a respectable but not great avg/ops and he should be in. Krod will likely be a replacement for a SP who pitches on Saturday or Sunday so they get withdrawn
  21. I don't want to do the work of looking into deserving outfielders and relievers but it clearly should be one of Braun and krod or both. Forget the ped bs it's irrelevant as Cruz has made it the last two years. I would be shocked if there's 7 more deserving outfielders than braun
  22. It's Dudley to Wiz. Surprising but he has a bigger contract so that's why I guess. I was suggesting trading Mcw because this signing means you might as well go for it right now rather than wait for Mcw to improve. I agree with everyone that Mcw has promise and that's why I would've preferred waiting to see how three of the young guys develop before making a big signing
  23. It might depend on how they process the paperwork. if they technically sign Monroe before Middleton, they can then go over the cap to sign Middleton. I mean as long as they're willing to go over and possibly pay some tax. A trade of Mayo shouldn't surprise anyone to dump salary. I'd rather have just kept Mayo rather than get Vasquez and give up a pick. We'll see though, I think more moves might be on the way. Wouldn't be surprised on MCW moving too
  24. well looks like Monroe deal is done. If they're doing this put me in the camp of trying to trade MCW for a proven PG and shooting for the 2 seed. Lawson/Bledsoe, someone like that
  25. I see your point that dealing with adversity is usually something that builds character. My understanding of pitching up there is that it's virtually impossible to throw breaking pitches consistently. So it's tough to improve them or know if what you're doing is working and whether it will translate to normal conditions. So you could be getting hit hard and you don't know if it's because the guy isn't any good or if the conditions are hurting him.
