  1. I didn't realize they only had 2 losses due to me pretty much writing off that whole conference and that Villanova has been a consistent underperformer in the tourney for years and generally never as good as their records say. They have a case vs Gonzaga but I don't see them having one over us unless we lost 2 more games. They have a bad loss to Seton Hall, nearly as bad as ours to Gonzaga. And we blown out by G-Town, who we comfortably beat.
  2. Right after I posted that I saw this article about the 1 seeds. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/why-the-top-no--2-seed-could-be-selection-sunday-s-biggest-loser-194001171.html
  3. I've read a few things lately saying that if we don't get a 1 seed that we'll get put in Kentucky's bracket due to being regionally close to them. They don't seed it like a normal snake type system. Meaning that it's not guaranteed the #5 overall gets put in the same bracket as the #4 overall and that #1 overall isn't for sure with #8 overall. And since the most convenient location for both UW and UK for the Sweet 16 and Elite is in Ohio that we'll get stuck with them rather than getting shipped out to play all our games on the west coast to be in the Gonzaga bracket. I saw this in articles on multiple sites, CBS, ESPN, Grantland. Best case would be to get the #1 seed in the West with Gonzaga getting bumped down rather than Duke or UVA, therefore getting Gonzaga as our 2 seed. If we win the next 3 and at least make it to the championship game of the B1G Tourney I don't know how anyone can say we don't deserve it.
  4. yea who knows what they'll do with Bryan and Ziggler. It doesn't really make sense to have them against each other. Maybe some kind of 4 way match for the #1 contender between them, Orton and Rollins. Would be shocked if Rollins doesn't cash in the MIB vs Reigns after the WM main event though setting up a feud between them.
  5. I don't have the WWE network and didn't watch. How did the crowd react to Bryan losing, did they boo Reigns again so potentially forcing them to stick Bryan in WM main event somehow?
  6. I agree with those saying they like MCW better than a pick in the teens two years from now. I think this is the logic and it makes sense to me. if we take the Lakers pick instead of MCW: first off it's a kick to the fans that we're not trying the rest of this season. Second, it's almost a lock we won't get that pick until 2016, yes there's a chance it will be #4 or 5 but more likely to be between say 9-17. Regardless, at that point you have to wait on a year or two of development from that guy before he's really ready to contribute to a winning team (that's assuming he pans out, which he might not). So now we're up to 2018-19 before he can contribute? Instead we get a guy that's ready to play right now (well, whenever he's healthy) who is cost controlled but just needs to learn to shoot. The turnovers and efficiency problems should be easily cleared up by not playing in a disaster situation. I think they love that he's 6'6 so on defense they'll be able to switch positions 1-4 on D. That's why they chose MCW over that draft pick and I agree with it.
  7. I'm dumbfounded that all sports don't do replay like college football. Have a guy in the booth and if he sees something he buzzes the head official and asks for a second to look at it. How hard is that. Probably some stupid umpires union rule blocking it. I hated watching the managers meander around the field wasting time last year. Something I never see brought up in this debate is that in the last 10 years there has been such an emphasis on taking walks and getting deep into the count trying to get walked. I have to think this is a factor in the lenght of games too, along with the other things people have mentioned. Things like Braun does or Nomar used to should be eliminated. Braun gets at least 4 ABs a game and probably adds two minutes with this BS. Anything to cut commercials down with I'm fine with too. I obviously don't watch commercials often on TV and I think it kills the in person experience. I'm not one to get up 10 times a game to get food/drink/bathroom and I'm not a fan of those who do, get the game going. They'll bring almost anything you want to the seat and if you need something get up once in the game and get while stopping at the bathroom, done.
  8. I thought the same thing but yea it's TV, and even more so it's comedy sitcom TV. And even if so how do you get away with naming basically an admin. obviously ben or leslie should have been but I thought it would've been a great spot for a quick Rob Lowe cameo. Have to think him and Ann will make an appearance before this is over?
  9. Another thing to feel better about. Supposedly PHX wanted to give us Dragic in this deal rather than MCW and we turned it down. Past Bucks regimes would've done the trade for Dragic and then watched him leave as a FA after the season while we're left holding our d**k. My gut on this was to not like it but as I've thought and read about I think it was a good move for the long term. Again, compared to past regimes who would be all jacked up to get the #7 seed and lose in the first round, this group is looking at the big picture and trying to build a real championship contender 3-4 years from now.
  10. yea this show is staying solid all the way to the end. Glad the last season hasn't sucked like The Office did. I think I missed the Paunch Burger commercial due to watching on DVR and thinking it's a real commercial.
  11. your logic is sound that we could've had that pick. However, the phrasing about how bad MCW is seems a little much? He won ROY of the year last year and was in a terrible situation. Shooting can be taught, regardless his job is going to be to attack and distribute. Guys like Westbrook and Rose can't shoot from deep either, their FG% looks better because there not in disaster situations and not forced to take endless deep contested 2 pt shots. And from what I've read I don't think MKE would've done the deal just for that Lakers pick, reports are that the main reason behind all of this is Kidd loves MCW. Two more years of control before making a decision on money with him and apparently Kidd really thinks MCW is for real. I guess we kind of have to trust his take on PGs. I think someone pointed out that we're not getting the Lakers pick this year as they're going to be in the top. You're then banking on them being bottom 6-7 bad again next year to make it worth it. Have to think they'll add players next year and approach .500, this is the Lakers, they're not going to suck for long. They might strike out again in free agency but I wouldn't bank on it.
  12. I really think the long term contract planning that we'd been discussing in this thread is a factor in this. they know Giannis has a max contract coming and hope Jabari does as well. They don't want Knight's possible 15mil sitting there already. Problem of course is that if MCW does play well, step up a level or two and learns to shoot adequately then he'll be needing a max deal the same time as Giannis. It's kind of kicking the decision down the road a bit. They can flip MCW in a 2 years if they don't think he's worth it and have a much cheaper Enis in his place if he pans out.
  13. Yea no doubt Knight is a better player right now. MCW can do everything well except shoot. I don't know how he's viewed as an individual defender, but looking at it from a team view. he's like 6'6 so most lineups we'll be able switch on defense on positions 1-4 which is very useful. If anyone should be able to mentor a tall PG who can't shoot it should be Jason Kidd. Don't sleep on Enis as a prospect, loved him in college last year but obviously there was no minutes for him in PHX. The more i think about the financials behind all this the more I get it and think they got an ok return. From what I've read about MCW the last year or so throughout the mess that is Philly he seems to be a smart kid with a good attitude and head on his shoulders. Put him in a better situation like this and I think he has a chance at stepping his game up. Makes for an interesting second half to see how it gels, should make the playoffs no matter what so what's the difference between the 6 and 8 seed really.
  14. I think the main point to take away is they didn't want to commit a large contract to Knight and thought best to move him now. They probably would love him at 4/32 but not so much if they're forced to match a 4/60 offer so they didn't want to take the risk.
  15. Wow, that shakes everything up. I guess I understand, need to wait to see the full details on it before making a judgement but they had such good karma and chemistry going so my gut reaction was not liking it
  16. FYI-just saw this on Monroe: "Not one of those words explained the fact that Monroe, who signed a qualifying offer last summer, has veto power over any potential trade, since any move would negate his Bird Rights and likely take money out of his pocket when he seeks a long-term deal this summer." I love the idea of going for Matthews. Seemingly would fit very well with Knight. Like it way better than the Jackson/Lawson discussion. someone mentioned RFAs being cheap and auditioning. Most guys are going to get a deal this offseason and won't play on that one year deal, Monroe did it this year but it's very rare. Knight will get something around 10-13 mil so close to max but yea none of the others should be above 10 mil. Monroe will be going for a max deal and Kanter would push for above 10 mil. If you give out 12 to knight, then like 7-10 on 4 others guys your inching towards the cap and limited flexibility. I love BrewBalls lineup, for sure playoff team and could win a round next year. If Giannis and Jabari develop they could be contenders. If we somehow sign Mathews I would expect Middleton to move on though, we'd still have Mayo for one more year but could use the 1st rd pick this year on someone that could be a backup wing.
  17. I know your point on the assets for Monroe, but in my opinion this type of deal is why we've been accumulating a shed-load of 2nd round picks. It's not like you can actually use all those picks they have coming, not enough roster spots. No way you give up a 1st rounder unless it's something like top 25 protected. For Knight playing with another PG. The NBA is becoming increasing positionless (or at least much more blended than in the pat), it's all about skillsets on offense and who you can guard on D. And I think the motion sharing offense Kidd is pushing fits having two scoring PGs at the same time. Kidd being a PG in the past should help with this as well. I think Knight plays along with a PG quite a bit already in Bayless and Marshall before he got hurt. I loved the idea last offseason of signing Bledsoe from the Suns. I'm not sure on Lawson fitting well due to being so short, think he needs to be paired with a traditional tall SG for defensive purposes. Jackson could work as he's also 6'3 but I'm just not sure how good he really is. Think I might rather stick with Middleton and focus on getting a good big. Sucks to think about a couple years ago we looked so set for young bigs, Larry and Ersan as somewhat proven starters who were under 25, Henson and Udoh as good young prospects who were good enough to be in the rotation. two years later and we have only Henson that we even want around and not totally sure how good he can be.
  18. That helps on Henson, gives another year before having to make a decision, not sure why I had that in my head. Or this offseason maybe give him a cheap extension if he'll take it. Yes you don't have to trade for Monroe but you'd be able to start negotiations sooner and would have his Bird rights. Wouldn't give up a 1st rounder for him though since he's unrestricted, I'd be fine dangling Ersan though. I would expect Monroe to get the 15-17 mil type contract that the likes of Parsons and Hayward got last year, especially since the league knows the cap is about to go way up in the next couple years. If he hits FA I doubt we'd win the battle but who knows. I'm with you, I like him better than Kanter and seems like a decent fit here.
  19. Regarding the Henson post. Henson is a RFA as well so it's just them saying they'd rather get a proven player back than to pay him like 8mil per year based on potential. If Larry was still around the idea of trading Henson would make perfect sense. I'd do this for Lawson but not sure about Jackson, he's just more proven. But he's also small so maybe Jackson would be a better fit to play alongside Knight in kind of a Suns style two PG setup. I love Milsap but have to think he'll re-sign or go to another contender, his game is so smooth he can fit on almost any team. I haven't heard much Monroe talk really, he might be a better get than Kanter and can dangle a similar package. Van Gundy should want Ersan for his shooting potential. Fondy makes a great point on the RFAs. If you hand out deals to Knight, Middleton(or Jackson/Lawson instead), Kanter/Monroe, Henson. all of a sudden you're locked into that core for like 50+ mil per year. and that core can't really compete for a championship unless Giannis and Jabari become legit starts. at that point they'll have to give Giannis a max deal and hopefully parker a max deal the year after. Since it's their first max deals they're not crazy expensive but they'll be tight to the cap with little flex. Probably why they're willing to move Henson rather than pay him.
  20. what's so frustrating with Larry is those two years before he got the extension he played so incredibly hard at all times that you couldn't love him. He should have won Defensive POY that last season when he was good. I actually think Utah might have interest in Ersan. one of the problems with their bigs is that none of them are stretch 4s or can hit the 3 pointer, he would provide a new skillset for them and should fit around Gobert and Favors off the bench. Ersan is another frustrating one, played so great before his money and then has been constantly injured. Skiles ruined him early in that first season after he got paid with on again off again playing time. by the end of the year he had his head back on right and was playing well again. Have to remember for a 2-3 years stretch he shot like 45% from three and was in the top 5 in the league at 3p%. Last two years have been constantly hurt though and he's not putting up the gaudy rebound games anymore. For trades, no thanks on Derek Williams. i'd take Kanter and and Jackson though if you don't have to give up any long term assets other than 2nd round picks, which we have plenty of. I think we have the Clips 1st rounder one of these years too, I could see that being included for either one, especially Kanter
  21. you're 100% right. if that's the best report he gets from the NBA advisors before his decision he should stay. Based off some of the UW insider stuff I read and off what he did at the Lebron and KD camps last summer that he's been told he's a lock first rounder. Our system doesn't allow for people to really show their stuff so media people doing mocks probably don't really know where to put him. That being said, best thing for him might be to get drafted in the 20s to a good team and just be a role player. maybe better than going to a crap team and being forced to be the man. It's all about the right fit in the NBA. Seems like he might be the type you'd be disappointed in if you use say a #8 pick on him or say he underachieved because he'll probably never be a star. But if you take him at #25 and he is a rotation player you're happy with him. If that makes sense at all.
  22. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25072595/larry-sanders-puts-health-first-reportedly-accepting-buyout Seems like 13 mil total based on this article. Wow, I thought something like 25-30 mil would be best case. This is a great move by them. Frees up money for the signings of Middleton and Knight this offseason or whatever else they want since he's the only large contract on the books. Being they're not against the cap it might be best to just let it all hit the cap right now and get it over with. My best guess is he's dealing with some kind of depression type issue but who knows. I suppose you have to give him respect for doing the honorable thing and giving the money back rather than just go through the motions the next few years.
  23. From what I've seen Ersan seems the most likely to be traded but I think they'll end up standing pat. He's really the only true PF on the team. Bucks haven't gotten a lot of coverage on Grantland the last few weeks, interesting one today: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/choose-your-bandwagon-would-you-rather-ride-with-the-bucks-or-t-wolves/
  24. That's fairly common in CBB for the top players. 6 of the top 10 players haven't picked yet. I'm not entirely sure of the reason but I think a factor could be to see what coaching turnover happens. Another reason might be that a superstar player is so much more important than in football that any coach will find a scholarship for these guys if they decide to pick their school Also, in CBB once someone commits they're actually committed and other teams back off. Unlike CFB where they recruit up until they sign the letter of intent.
  25. I guess that kind of backs up my thing about not developing our own pitching a bit as to why were never long standing WS threat. Take TB as a comparison, they brought up several of their own high end pitchers (Shields, Price, Garza, Kazmir etc.) along with a couple good position players like Longoria. They at least had a 3 year stretch as legit WS contenders. The pitching route is the better way and MKE is at least trying that route now.
