  1. I'd guess Love would still be here for at least this year. First, just to have a legit backup. Second, all other teams have made their QB moves so you're not going to get value. Third, no one has seen him play in a long time so that hurts value. Generally speaking, I strongly doubt they get good value back right now. Keeping him this year could allow him to show some flashes in pre season and/or if Rodgers were to miss a game or two. Think of what Rodgers did in preseason and when Favre got hurt vs Dallas. Sure, I suppose Love could do poorly and hurt his value but keeping him at least ives the chance of recouping his value next offseason. While also giving a legit backup for once. ETA: Thinking about it a bit. Let's say Rodgers skips a lot of offseason stuff but Love is there. That actually could be really good for his development after such a truncated first year practive/development due to covid.
  2. So ridiculous that Jesus fell apart for us where they kind of had to let him go. They gave him a really long leash and did all they could, but without an option left they couldn't send him down to clear his head. OF course he figures it out again once he leaves. If he'd have just held on as solid (not his crazy two month level) it would've been such a big help. Also, thoughts on Arcia trade right now since we could be playing him on left side and Shaw at 1B right now?
  3. Think RRB nailed it. O was built around Yeli being back and generally a legit all star MVP convo type guy and Keston being an above average hitter. Both gone is a huge blow to it all. Probably isn't a clear cut move to help other than Pujuls
  4. Losing 4 games to them by 1 run will be very frustrating that you couldn't find a way to get at least one of them. Especially when two of them were hugely hurt by errors and then another on the overturn call on the bad slide. Otoh, they've had several lucky wins this year already so were due some to go the other way
  5. Seems the majority think that's the case. But I'd still lean towards this is overblown and they'll work out a contract before next season that gives him guarantees and locks him into GB for several more years instead of just one. Then they'll downplay. We'll see, but I think cooler heads will prevail.
  6. Yea, he should start vs all lefties and whenever someone needs a day off should go to him. And he should be doing all he can to learn 1B. McKinney has come back to reality, let's see how long Taylor can go before he does too. If folks haven't noticed though Garcia has been perfectly fine of late, even good. Yet again an example of not freaking out over a short bad stint.
  7. Yup, there was plenty still fuming over Rodgers since they went 6-10 in spite of him playing great. It was still his fault. Love will have a tremendous uphill battle in front of him.
  8. Correct to Jim. Favre's TD/INT the three years before leaving were 20/29, 18/18, 28/15. They did go 13-3 the last year but were bad the two before including a 4-12. All while he was threatening or dancing with retirement for several off seasons in a row. GB management probably would be legit in fearing a Barry Sanders situation where it's late offseason like August and he just says he can't do it anymore and is done. Keep in mind he usually didn't come to offseason stuff all those years. And then after like the 5th year in a row of hemming and hawing they finally said enough is enough. Likely aided by seeing a kid in practice and thinking he might be the most accurate thrower they've ever seen. None of that was going on with Rodgers here, it was a totally different situation than what happened here. Maybe Love does look really good though, I have no idea.
  9. I really don't see how you can overturn that call though. With the standards MLB have had regarding clear cut evidence I was shocked on that one. Could be huge call, would be 5-2 with two runners on. That said, dude put your foot down when you slide.
  10. Just a quick reminder, Denver was 5-11 last year and plays in the same division as KC. It's not like they were some good/great team just missing a QB like several other situations over the years. Sure I guess LV/SD aren't to be feared. But if he really thinks this is a better spot to be than GB he's a fool. The team is only so/so and you're in the same division as the SB favorite. So you're very unlikely to win division and get a bye. If San Fran is healthy, well, at least I see a discussion then but would still take the GB situation. Keep in mind the NFC North should almost be a freebie this year.
  11. Well said, this is pretty much where I'm at.
  12. Yes, to me it's not so much about the weapons talk. Clearly management was proven right they didn't 'need' to reach there to have a top O. Keep in mind there was a run on WR right before they were up so the 1st rd guys were gone. Who knows what happen if say the MN WR drops to them, maybe none of this happens. I'm sure at the time he didn't like it but he'd have gotten over it if they'd have taken anything but QB there because at least the player will have been the field trying to help win now. To me it was they showed they were willing and likely even planning to cut/trade him after 21 even though he'd given no indications he wanted to quit. To him that's a slight/disrespect, even if you can see why the team would try to plan and finally get a backup who's not a joke. So now he's using this great season to secure his future/money. I'd still guess they work out a contract since it's so tough to trade between now and season, question is just how much GB caves and I'd guess he's not going to be too friendly on the terms after last offseason.
  13. Think I mentioned a slot type WR who can do jet type stuff (I'm not having a bad night on guesses) as what I'd want in the WR they pick and that's what this guy seems. One thing I read listed his speed as a top strength. Seems to check the boxes for me. Not sure of much to complain about so far if I'm a Packer fan (other than of course the Arod fiasco going on lol).
  14. They really don't need to reach for one though. you have one of the 2-3 best in the whole league. D and OL definitely greater needs, that's what cost them the game last year. I'm sure they'll take one or two eventually but don't need to reach on one. They've actually done great with taking guys in rounds 2-3 over the years. And I know the Rodgers needs help camp doesn't like to hear it, but Rodgers really can make OK guys be plenty good enough to have a top O. So you subscribe to the "Do something, Aaron" offensive philosophy. Not really. But you've gotten all pro or near type guys in the 2nd-3rd rd several times now and you currently have the top 2-3 guy in the league so I don't see the massive demand right now. But most importantly, you had the #1 offense in the league last year and have generally been top 5ish for all of Rodgers career (when he's not hurt). Meanwhile, the D has been awful or mediocre at best a few times over the last 10 years and has been the cause of losing pretty much every playoff game. So yea, Rodgers/Adams/Jones is a heck of a core to your skills on O that you don't need to reach for it. I'm sure they'll take a guy in the next round or two and I hope he turns out to be the next Adams, I won't be mad that he was taken in the 3rd instead of the 1st. Speed speed speed as the goal with the later picks and hope to coach them up. Chiefs guys were had later too. ETA: and definitely liked last years O over the last few years of MM where it was as you say, "do something aaron" with no play design so it was like improvising out there. Non first round picks were running wide open often last year.

  16. Wouldn't have been the worst spot to move up a few spots and get him using the extra picks they have in this draft. Though of course we have no idea if they liked him. LSU/Bama WRs though I'm not sure how you don't like them
  17. Man it would be nuts to get these first two games, hope they pull it out. I have a feeling if Narv had just played it cool and slowly walked back to 1B on that play he'd have got away with it.
  18. I'd be for that too, though I think the other teams before GB also generally would look at WR. The OSU O lineman seems logical too.
  19. Great post above on the D being the key thing to fix. Once again, DB was their downfall again last year. O was top of league and kept most of it together, but of course need some depth on OL. I'd also have my eyes out for a slot shifty type in the Purdue WR type mold, mostly looking at this type due to all the jet sweep motion they started incorporating and that they don't really have this type in their other guys. Might be able to handle punts or kicks too. Other than that I'm all for whatever they see fit on D. I was fine with a full size DB with great speed like they took last night.
  20. Exactly. Plus add in the cap logistics as well that would make a trade extremely difficult in finding a true contender who can somehow deal with his contract this late in the offseason. Way at the beginning, you'd have time to figure it out but so many teams have made moves/signings its very tough now. I guess I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the acquiring team still takes on a big hit on cap even the trading team (GB) is taking a hit too. NFL definitely more confusing to me than NBA. Top of my head I think SF can easily cut Jimmy's contract for small hit and I want to say Denver only took on a very small amount of Teddy's contract. Which is probably why those two teams were mentioned. Still, I'd assume each would have to move other money around or make some cuts (having done no research). Can make an argument SF gives an equal chance as GB but I know I'd pick GB for my title chances if I had to pick. Plus of course SF just drafted a QB #3 so the heir apparent issue is even stronger there than here. I suppose they could trade GB that QB though to alleviate that if GB would want him.
  21. I feel like Gute has actually done a good job since taking over, in general. But man the butterfly effects of that one decision might be a colossal mistake for the team and his career. Or who knows, maybe he'll be right and Love is very good. Many probably said the same about Thompson/MM when they cut ties with Brett and turns out TT/MM were correct, career defining bold move they were correct on.
  22. I don't see how the timing matters. He's been sitting on this since it happened, think it was fairly clearly out there right after last draft. Then his comments after the last game. Negotiations start this offseason. they don't go the way he wants, so he pulls this stunt (draft day, all eyes on NFL) to get his way and make it known to them he's serious. To me it's all negotiations. Sure you can disagree but I don't see how this is a crazy take on it. Wouldn't surprise me if he's willing to leave but I think it's just making them cave and give him guaranteed money. And IMO, if they didn't do this last offseason he'd have stayed quiet/classy (not make it public) on the contract negotiations until it was done. To Xi, yes. To a 1st ballot Hof under contract for 4-5 years who's made no intention of quitting I definitely think it ticked him off. Essentially, "you're gonna draft my replacement, don't think you need me, well I'll show you." He knows how his contract is setup with being able to get out of it after 2021. That was telling him they're looking at doing that and a guy with a chip on his shoulder like he does is likely to take that in a bad way and tick him off. You can say they're justified in if you want or that you wouldn't be ticked off, but doesn't mean that's how he sees it. Or at the very least, for him to look at this as business decision. It showed him his money after 2021 was up in the air (business to the team) so he has MVP season and full power so now he wants to secure his money (business decision for him).
  23. As has been pointed out numerous times, they're currently negotiating a contract extension with him 'behind the scenes'. He's doing this because he doesn't like what the offer was and it's a negotiating ploy, plain and simple. And a diva-ish ploy at that. Exactly. That's what i mean by hardball, if they hadn't ticked him off and shown him last year he was expendable he probably would've kept things hush hush and got it done behind the scenes. Instead, he did what he did yesterday playing hardball showing he's gonna play every card he has to get his when he has all the power. To what end? They WERE negotiating behind the scenes. All this does is make him look like a petulant child while also making the organization tap dance. Scorched earth, I guess.... I don't know what you're arguing really. I think we're making my same point haha, that the ticking him off is what has pulled out from behind the scenes. If they hadn't ticked him off they probably find a way to get it all done without this drama, he's flexible etc, we never hear squat until the extension is done. Instead, they ticked him off, talk behind the scenes but haven't now given what he wants, so now he's willing to go hard back at them like he did yesterday. Without what they did with Love I doubt it gets this far/bad between them and it all would've got done quietly. To me, it does not make him look that way at all. To me it looks like he's being as shrewd as he can to get all he can and imo they started it. They wanted to play the this is business card last offseason, he's playing it back.
