  1. It's different though. Favre started it all by every offseason saying he wasn't sure he'd come back, skipping many offseason workouts and keeping them in limbo. He was making them look ahead a bit, then a number 1 overall pick falls in their laps late 1st. Rodgers was signed for 4-5 more years and said he planned on playing that out and even into his 40s. Then they traded up to get a QB. Say Love fell to them in the 2nd or anyone they liked fell to them 2-3rd round, so be it, that's different than trading up to get a guy. And again, Rodgers had given no indication he was looking to quit like Favre did for years.
  2. As has been pointed out numerous times, they're currently negotiating a contract extension with him 'behind the scenes'. He's doing this because he doesn't like what the offer was and it's a negotiating ploy, plain and simple. And a diva-ish ploy at that. Exactly. That's what i mean by hardball, if they hadn't ticked him off and shown him last year he was expendable he probably would've kept things hush hush and got it done behind the scenes. Instead, he did what he did yesterday playing hardball showing he's gonna play every card he has to get his when he has all the power.
  3. Yes I think Monkey's last paragraph summarizes it well. With the Love pick GB showed to him they view him/this as a business, so now Rodgers is doing the same to cover himself. They essentially said we are very open to trading/cutting you after 2021, he's not dumb. So now he's on a lame duck contract situation and just won MVP. Perhaps if they didn't poke the bear he'd have been apt to do this behind the scenes and get something team friendly done that helps secure him while simultaneously helping the cap number. Instead, they ticked him off and now he's playing hardball. Plus, of course a good pick in the 1st last year could've been the difference in that game if he panned out and was at the right spot, likely DB so King doesn't blow that game.
  4. I think this is it. It' snot so much that they should've drafted him more weapons, didn't put a good team around him, tec. It's that they chose to trade up to draft his replacement. The guy didn't just fall to them. He knows he becomes cuttable/tradeable after 2021 so he sees that as definitely something they might be planning on doing and would like control on that, especially having an MVP season. If they're being touch on contracts/guarantees I can't blame him at all for wanting a commitment. Drafting Love was a horrible decision and might've led to all this. Huge mistake unless he somehow turns out to be very good himself, which could happen, but no way I push out my MVP QB over this maybe. and note, you have to take this whole report with a grain of salt. Of course could be true, but clickbait to a T.
  5. In recent years though they've emphasized that runners running on the grass are out of the baseline. Maybe what Plush/Ump are saying is technically true, idk, but it sure seems to contradict the running on the grass calls of recent years that also seemed like headscratchers.
  6. Yea if there was ever a time to get tossed that's it. After arguing with that guy move onto the home plate and possibly whoever the crew chief if one of those two aren't. Home ump had a view on that as well to the game, don't think we're scoring on this guy much. We'll see but it'll be kind of funny how they beat the good teams and will have lost to Mia/Pit. Assuming no comeback which of course could happen. Classic baseball.
  7. Fast forward to a random game later in the year and an ump will call the runner out for being inside the baseline on the grass. We've all seen it in recent years. This was an unreal call with how they've made that baseline point recently.
  8. Same. Today I noticed the've finally updated from the FoxsportsGo app on my device to change it to Bally Sports. Have to do the login through your cable provider, just like is normal on everything these days. First couple times I can get all the way through the sign in and it says complete, but it never actually 'starts or goes' on the TV. Since then it's just stalled out after clicking Spectrum as provider and I can't complete. Anyone else get it work?
  9. Because that's literally how the team was designed to operate this year. Yes, to a degree. I don't think they built the team expecting guys like JBJ, Garcia, Cain, Urias to mash so you're correct there and in general that they knew they'd play a ton of low scoring games. However, they did plan it around Yeli being at close to what he was and for Keston to hit. Those are really the main issues. If those two were in the ballpark of what they should be the other guys, who were never supposed to be more than mediocre, fulfilling themselves as mediocre or slightly less wouldn't be so glaring of a problem. Basically, imo, they planned on those two making up for or covering for a lot of the other guys on O so they were ok with focusing on D with moves like Wong/Bradley. And even with that happening they knew they'd be a low scoring good pitching team. But in general yea the current method isn't sustainable, someone else like Yeli/Cain/Huira is going to have to come in to make up for upcoming regression from guys like Mckinney, Shaw, Narv, and the pitching in general. I think the P is going to be very good, barring injury, so the team will be good. But to go to the next level and be a real threat to LA something has to improve on O and the two obvious spots are Yeli and Keston
  10. We'll see how this plays out but seems we might have elevated Box a bit too quickly. Granted, a bit of a problem with Williams regressing so don't hav really anyone super trustworthy here so you're kind of figuring it out as you go. Day off tomorrow though this probably would've been 2 innings for Hader a year or two back. Agree with Adam above. This is the game here
  11. I agree. He has a couple weeks to show some sign otherwise he needs to go down and figure it out in low pressure situation and hopefully he comes back up and rakes like he did his first year when he came up. I'm not a hitting coach but it sure seems he's too back leg and upper cut swinging. Which to my memory is not what he was like when he came up as he sprayed hard hits in every direction. Guessing he maybe got a bit too caught up in the launch angle HR aspects and needs to get back to basics that made him good.
  12. Yes he seems to hit the ball hard given often. WAs on fire in spring and hits it hard now in his chances. I'm all for getting him lots of ABs right now and see how he does. Then Yeli/Cain come back and he's back down or to the bench. Maybe it'll just be a hot streak and he fizzles out, who knows, but 10 hot games will help us out with Yeli down and Hiura lost. Of course McKinney has done well though too so it's tough to criticize anyone here.
  13. Yes, this is one heck of a game. ETA: hope it doesn't get ruined by a bad call at the end. I guess on replay that elbow to elbow is legit. Just a weak way to end it, PJ fault for overdoing it while the guy is in a bad spot
  14. Right, that's what I understood (as the idea/theory) going in and why being someone young-ish who doesn't get sick I assumed a stronger immune system so I was expecting something on the 2nd but it never came. This idea is behind why they say it's less likely for older folks to have strong reactions as their immune systems generally won't be as strong. Who knows of course but your point seems to be the prevalent thought on the topic. ETA: None of this was in regards to being more protected based on side effects. Was purely talking about response to the shots.
  15. Feel like only people chiming in have been having side effects. I had my 2nd last week and had no reaction to either shot, as if nothing had happened to me at all. So just adding in that it can happen, cross your fingers. For info, I'm upper 30s, never had covid, and I'm someone who never gets sick (which had me thinking my body would have a reaction). ETA: It was pfizer
  16. Still going, they're going to do at least one more season but who knows the timeframe now of when they can film.
  17. I was just talking to someone about this earlier this week. I definitely think they should be exploring ways to lock them on team friendly deals, especially Burnes since he's a couple years younger. Something with the goal of extending 2-3 years beyond arb on both should only have you on the hook with them until ages 30-32ish ages. So not terribly risking other than the obvious injury issues all Ps have. The risk on the other side is that if they keep doing well every year that goes on increases their price and power to command us give another year into their 30s. Big pic, I'd like to have them for 5ish more years, not just 3. Woodruff though is more difficult to gauge though as you already get to early 30s just on arbitration, which should make him even more agreeable to taking a team friendly deal. Think of the Gallardo type deal but at today's numbers. He hits FA at the age when you are comfortable letting someone else overpay and take the risk, while you've already gotten the prime years. With them seeing what happened to Nelson you'd think they would have their ears open to putting life changing money away rather than gambling on their health.
  18. I think that makes perfect sense for the bottom of the inning. If it's the top, putting the extra runner on increases the chances of getting multiple runs. But yea if it's the bottom and one run is the same as two then I think that makes perfect sense. Issues I could see would be if it's a weak hitter and in general of moving the lineup along which brings the best guys up again sooner (if they're not up that inning). But if Mike Trout is leading off the inning you might as well just walk him for sure.
  19. Have the Cubs game on now. Contreras has an inside pitch that he leans in and tries to stick his elbow into but it missed. Maybe 3 pitches later the pitch is closer and he just stands there and takes it off the elbow pad instead of moving at all. He goes right to first without saying a word and probably laughing to himself about how easy it was. I don't understand how he, teammates, or Cubs fans don't see what he's doing. I mean, he knows what he's doing it yet acts all offended.
  20. Been telling everyone I can for years to watch this show. Shield is my #1 show ever. They've never been good about getting it out and available though. Think it has finally gotten on Hulu in the last year or so though, if I remember correctly. Shameless has been a great show, heck of run they had. It kind of floundered a bit the last few years and I did a lot of eye rolling on some story lines the last few years, but it was still good. I'd call the finale 'fine'. I'd have preferred more firmly tied up but overall it did the job and wasn't awful/stupid or anything to ruin the show's legacy. Basing it on Frank's dying makes a lot of sense. I was surprised they couldn't get Fiona back for the ending or address her at all, basically seemed weird to do this whole year basically acting like she didn't exist. I saw they've had a lot of issues with filming during covid though so have to cut some slack that they did the best they could given the situation.
  21. For the houses off far back from the road talk. First, I'm not sure if you're referencing more town/city developments or kind of country lots. But if you're talking more country lots there is some rule or perk/benefit that basically forces it to happen. I don't remember the specifics, it's not about being close to the road necessarily but about buying a certain amount of the land. So basically if you have that much land you might as well put the house back. Again I don't remember exactly what the purpose of it was, but it comes into play when buying up old farm type land for a house and either the rules of it or you get some kind of benefit or tax break if you buy a larger piece of land.
  22. I'd say my biggest 'complaint', which is a stretch, would be somewhat resorting back to traditional bullpen roles as opposed to the mass creativity in the NLCS year. Brewers and Rays were kind of on the cutting edge there and we've kind of pulled back since then. Who knows, could be just due to personnel now vs then. Or maybe someone like Hader has said he'd prefer this route for whatever reason (contract, health, etc). Overall CC is good manager and the nature of playings tons of close low scoring games is there is going to be bullpen decisions to nitpick. There is simply no way to get them correct 100% of the time and as fans we latch onto the ones that don't work while glossing over all the times they do. It also makes the decisions even more difficult due to having to plan on the whole year and not overrusing. I think its fair to say with his track record on this stuff and how the Septs have gone, CC should get the benefit the doubt. Bottom line, the offense has to hit and really not sure how to blame him on that too much. Yelich and Hiura have to hit.
  23. If you view Urias/Arcia as kind of a wash, which is probably a fair take at this point, then it would make sense to have Urias to stay cheaper and years of control (did not double check this but seems he should have 2-3 years more of cheap control). Very curious what they got back, didn't see this coming. I'm going to guess minor league flyer types.
  24. I thought it looked really good and was very easy to read. Yeah, I actually liked it better than the box in the corner too. Fair enough, I'm sure I'll get used to it. To me it seems the box puts everything in one spot instead of kind of having to go left to right, but once I'm used to it I'll know where to look for what i want. Just comes from ESPN and everyone using the boxes so it'll take some time.
