  1. Yes, I think they have a real problem here. Game already had a slow/boring vibe to so many people and this is making it even worse. Rejuicing the ball doesn't really fix it IMO, sure more HRs but the lack of balls in play problem will still be big. I'm a baseball guy but it's even getting too much for me. I'd agree that shift rules of some kind is the simplest, least intrusive type of change that could be made to help a bit. But in principle I struggle to get behind telling someone how to play D. It would at least help, but in general it doesn't fix the problem of how ridiculous the pitchers have become. Since it's been so long it seems extreme for us to move back or change the mound, but it has happened before so I think they need to at least start studying it. Maybe there's an incremental way that could make sense, say 3 inches a year up to a foot (if after 3 or 6 it's still deemed to be needed)?
  2. A cheap option I've thought of is Renato Nunez. 1B/3B type guy who bats RH. Mostly been 1B but some 3B and corner OF here and there. Roughly was a 250/315 with 30ish HRs type guy the last two years. Is sitting in Det AAA now (I'm not aware of any injury) as seemingly no one would give him a MLB job this offseason? He got called up when someone got hurt in April for a few days. Not like he's some savior or anything but good chance he's better than what they've been running out there. Really, 240/300 with power would be one of our top 2-3 hitters at this point.
  3. Really what's the delay on Green at this point? For roster issues, the swap with Pablo makes sense, but do they want his middle infield abilities as a backup to those spots? So then you'd probably be letting Vog go and they don't want to straight up lose him? I don't know, but not sure I'd worry too much about that. I generally like the guy and he's come up with some good hits but really he's just a guy. If Green flops you can probably get him back easily or someone similar off the waiver wire. Also, not like I'm saying Green is gonna mash. But with how bad the O is you kind of want to try and add something. He at least helps vs lefties, in theory. Worth a shot, hope you can get something out of him
  4. Yea, seems his eye for thinking he was plucking a gem in Urias is his "I've made a huge mistake" moment as of now. Might sting that much more for doubling down on it with the Arcia trade.
  5. Yea his mechanics are way out of line on his throwing. Has to clean out the side arm more slinging it and just throw normal. Seems he might be best suited at 2B if his throwing is this off. That Arcia trade looks like a pretty big mistake.
  6. Am I crazy that he got his jersey up by the sleeve/shoulder making him kinda clearly out?
  7. I've been watching NHL games on one TV and Brewer with sound off on the other That's the ideal way to watch the brewers this year. I got rid of 2 TV setup a year or two back when I cut the cord. Should bring it back just for this team.
  8. Been watching the NBA games, glad to see I've missed literally nothing in this game. Pretty standard this year outside of last Sunday. Man Woodruff is a machine these days though.
  9. Just noticed this a few days ago too. KC had a collision of a popped up bunt where their runner crashed into Abreu from CHW and I happen to have the game on in the background at the time. He was out there helping the injured guy, saw the name on back and figured it had to be him. He's a big dude. Has to be 6'4-6'5 and has some weight on him these days.
  10. And is it any better to take a walk vs this position player? Wouldn't that be bush league too? He'd get ripped on for that too. These stupid old baseball rules make no sense. It's not unlike a team in football with a big lead late going for a 4th down on say the 20ish yd line instead of kicking a FG to rub it in. It seems bad, but in reality you're helping them out. To noda on the Oakland topic. Yes, I've thought the same thing several years ago with all the moneyball type stuff and Oak being this poor small market. Sure I know it's technically Oakland, but overall this is a huge market. I know it's split with SF but still, this is a major city. I will give more of a pass though if they're being screwed by rights issues of some kind. Curious question, what do they on the TV rights in the area? Is there a line drawn where you get Oak and SF on the other side or do they just get both? Side note, I have a friend in NW Iowa and he gets 4-5 different MLB teams in his market since there is no home team (MN, MKE, KC, STL, Chicagos). Can't remember exact, but some combination of them.
  11. DH? He probably will come back as the DH to ease him in a bit. But I have said this in the past when a player had a back issue. It would seem to me that swinging a bat is way more sudden and likely to cause back discomfort than playing outfield. Other than fatigue, what is the benefit to having him DH only? you may be right on it being worse than running in OF, etc, I don't know. However, just doing one of two rather than both is obviously less stressful than doing both right away.
  12. What about what some nba teams do and try to take some long out picks to hope for a higher pick. Basically, try to get one or two later down the line when Rodgers will theoretically be done and Denver is bad. Not worth it to delay years in NFL since the difference between top 5ish and top 20ish isn't as drastic as it is in the NBA?
  13. And if I recall correctly, GB was at elite level in that close to the end zone situation. Just think how ridiculous Adams/Rodgers were in those spots all year mostly due to Adams' elite quickness/shiftiness. Granted they botched one earlier in that game, I think an Adams drop, but they were lights out in those situations and had an array of designed plays exactly for it. I'd strongly prefer to be on the 3. Also need to add in that when it's only 3 Rodgers can easily run if needed, 10 not so much. I'm firmly in the camp he wouldn't have gotten in if he ran on 3rd down as that LB would've got him, barring a ridiculous lucky juke or something. But yea I think if he runs they're then close enough to make going for it a no brainer decision instead of the gray area they were left in.
  14. Sure. But a lot things were there for mass improvement. First, Yelich not sucking. Then you have Narv going from garbage to mediocre (not much to ask). Cain/JBJ even being mediocre would be a big step up from the stiffs we ran out there last year. Wong is a good contact guy which we needed. Huira bounceback. There was plenty of reasons to think the O could go from bottom of the barrell to just average/mediocre, which is all we needed.
  15. Yup, the needed "4th OF" spot could've easily been filled by Grisham instead of Garcia/Bradley. He'd have gotten plenty of ABs in 2020 with Braun/Cain needing maintenance days and inevitable DL stints, some Braun at 1B if needed. Then he'd take over in 21 when Braun left and the 4th OF could be a cheap type like a Taylor/Ray etc since now you have one less old guy out there. Then you'd have 20 mil left to spend right now on say a Donaldson/Turner type attempt, or just keep Moose (who I think is overrated but still better than our curren trash). Keep in mind of course they could've struck out on all those sensible IF signings and be left with nothing and fans screaming how cheap they're being. That said, I totally get the desire to upgrade SS from Arcia and the logic of Urias. And I get the idea of a Davies/Lauer swap. That was the whole goal of it all and most fans, and most here, were saying the same thing that we had to do something at SS. Hindsight, wish they'd have found a way get Urias without giving up Grisham. Urias' value couldn't have been too crazy high and SD had next to no use for him.
  16. Yes, I'm very bored 'watching' these games. since they're close games due to always being low scoring you pay attention but almost nothing happens. Baseball has a problem on their hands with all this. Glad we have the technology to do other stuff to be entertained with this kind of on in the background just to know what happens, but there's no need to pay close attention.
  17. Hopefully someone in AAA starts doing well so they can take Perdomo's spot. He's gotta get his command in line, maybe AAA will be the best spot for him to do that. There's potential there but can't trust him in any close games right now
  18. weirdly it kinda was. Hoping it's enough for Flaherty not too come out next inning. But I think they'll let him start and see how it goes
  19. Yea, the comment made no sense. I would say he's been hitting the ball hard lately but getting no results from hit. He's looked much better lately so hopefully a hot streak is coming
  20. Wainwright was actually really cool - he knew it was coming, so he paused and then changed the subject to Burnes. He was very natural and fairly insightful on things imo. Heck, he sounded better than Holliday. Could see him having a future on TV, easily locally for STL if wants
  21. Right. Brewers have hit very few balls hard in the last two games and it seems most of them snagged by really good D plays by the Cards. Classic playing the cardinals stuff, I think they were bad on D last year but that seems rare for them. Of course the weird Bader play did give them a run yesterday though
  22. Can someone explain why they prefer Maile to Nottingham? Is there an option/team control thing there or do they just think he's better?
  23. I use it through a Roku. As i posted on here, some issues with initial login but eventually it worked fine. Funniest thing I've noticed watching this way is the ads. It cuts away from the normal ads that would be on during commercials and goes to their own I guess Sinclair ads. So, you think no Gruber so that's a good thing. However, it's basically the same 3-4 ads every commercial for like a month now. And they're not even real commercials, it's just advertising for other (I guess) Sinclair owned channels like Stirrd(spelling?), Tennis channel, etc. Half the ads are for Ring of Honor wrestling on one of these channels and for tennis channel. So, essentially they're making no ad revenue off this route. The model makes no sense.
