  1. I liked Machu's RRR post. Makes a lot of sense. I guess some of it getting to the point where all they're emphasizing is masks is kind of because they know people are getting back out there again. Basically they know lockdown isn't happening anymore and people aren't listening combined with so many businesses/work being innocently being open again, so if you're out wear a mask. I'd agree the emphasis needs to get back to trimming things back, which it does seems some of the governors including ours have recently been pushing that way as well.
  2. True, however LA already has other guys too especially when knowing 1/3 are ate up right there by Smith. Cycle through all the other guys to cover the rest. That said, in the current cap strapped world maybe they'll lose some of the depth guys like Pederson, Taylor, Kike. And I know Turner is a FA but I don't know the status on those other folks.
  3. I haven't seen any update there. 7 seems high but it kind of make sense with all they have back so they have stability. Whereas the nature of CBB these days is the opposite, and even more compounded this year. I checked on odds for the FF about 2 weeks ago and UW was at +300, so essentially saying 25% chance to make the FF. I thought that was absurd to be that high considering the nature of the tournament.
  4. Yes that was a great game, well played and entertaining. I'd guess Clemson gets a pass on this by the committee as long as they win everything else easily. They went to OT on road vs another top team while missing the MVP of CFB. If I remember correctly they could play ND in the conf title game too (it's weird year so I could be wrong) so it would really just come down to that game. Still a big win for ND as it keeps them alive. I saw today they were told pre game to get off the field asap if they won as they knew the rush would happen, not sure how well they succeeded though. However, keep in mind ND already had an outbreak of some kind early in the year. So in theory they might be a bit less susceptible than other teams in that situation. Hopefully UW can get back at this week. Michigan has looked so bad that it should be a win but we also don't know who will all be out for UW even if they do play. Frankly, IMO the rest of the B1G has looked really bad so far other than OSU. Eye test to me would probably be OSU, big gap, UW, big gap, then everyone else. That said, we have no idea what UW looks like after this now. They could fall into the blahness of everyone else too now. Cool to see IU doing well though.
  5. And now the SoCal teams don't have a spot for him at DH. Angels have Ohtani/Pujols covering DH in some fashion. Dodgers don't have DH as of now, and even if they did add it they seem to just have their own hitters they can put into it. If Will Smith is legit as this good of a hitter he would probably take it up roughly 1/3 of the games when he's resting from C.
  6. Same. If I had a major legal issue need I would call whoever Gruber's competitor is just to spite him. Even if it takes more than one call.
  7. Wow, that's a good get along with some other recent good WR pulls (especially compared to our normal level). Keep it going and get some higher ranked or more athletic CBs and maybe you can beat OSU more like 1/3 times instead of the current 1/10ish.
  8. I've thought about this a few times too. Besides what you all have said another thing I thought of is it prevents your competition from getting their name out too (talking about normal advertising, not politics). Such as, why does Coke/Pepsi need to bother advertising, they're too big to fail and everyone knows them. But them buying space blocks a competitor from getting space. I think back to Under Armour about 15 years ago when they bought pretty much every 1st rd pick in the NFL draft and pounded out their name in that draft. Who'd have thought someone could enter that competitive market but somehow they did it and now I'd guess they're the #2 after Nike (pure guess though). Puma tried a similar thing a couple years ago in the NBA draft to try and kick start their name again.
  9. I think I recall haudricourt saying something along the lines of he knows for sure Braun won't want to do another covid season. So could be a bit of a waiting game to see how things look in a few more months and that could make the decision for him if it's going to be another really weird year. With no DH though I'd guess this was it though.
  10. That show has always been off the rails, haha. To me I kind of liked the newest season best as it was a much clearer straight forward story. to me anyway, I thought they simplified a bit which I thought was needed. It essentially just became a super long Black Mirror episode now, if you've ever watched that show. I for sure missed the cinematography of the first seasons of WW though. For Ted Lasso, I don't have that platform so haven't watched yet but it seems really good. Just commenting that if you go back to that Sudeikis era SNL cast it might truly be an all time great casts. Almost everyone has gone onto big things.
  11. If I recall correctly you work in schools too. Something that's popped in my head is wondering if schools will try to get to thanksgiving then shutdown til at least after New Year? Nobody has every told me that, just a scenario I've thought of in my head so I was curious if you or anyone else has heard that idea talked about? Assuming a downward trend doesn't start by then, that is.
  12. About 2-3 weeks ago UW was at max, whereas if an emergency such as heart attack or car accident came in they wouldn't have beds for them after dealing with the emergency so would have to keep them in that room until they figured something out the next day. My understanding some nights now it is and some nights it's not as of now. Of course not all are covid, but those extra covid people is what's eating up the normal wiggle room. And remember hospitals have been converting more and more normal rooms over to ICU for covid in prep of this. But yea, really nothing to worry about here and it's not a crisis, I'm sure it's just greedy doctors. We're not burying our head in the sand at all, we're rounding the corner.
  13. I'd generally agree or guess that as well. Favre had no one to check his ego at that point and all the blame got pinned on everyone else, no matter how bonheaded his picks were. Holmgren would've been a much better GM too. Who knows the butterfly effect though, possibly no Rodgers then and then no 2nd SB. Maybe Rodgers ends up in a bad team/situation and never becomes what he is. If I recall they had to tweak his delivery when they got him.
  14. it's also loaded with an insane amount of sugar... It's funny I prefer Sunny D to actual orange juice. It's also surprisingly less calories. I feel like a child using/buying it but it is what it is. Can't speak for sugar off the top of my head but I'd guess actual orange juice (especially the ones that aren't 100%) has it's share in too.
  15. Besides everything mentioned and detailed here so far, well done, to me the frustrating part of the Rhoads/Sherman era is that Holmgren essentially left because he wanted full power/control, essentially to be GM as well. Of course Wolf was still there and didn't do it, but then Wolf quit a year or two later anyway only to give all that to Sherman. I don't know the backstories at all, but if he'd given up the reigns a few years earlier they'd have had Holmgren that whole time instead.
  16. That's honestly the first time I've heard that one on the conspiracy train. I also don't think it is anywhere close to the truth. Why in the world would someone be admitted to the ICU if they didn't show the symptoms to warrant them being there? That theory makes absolutely no sense. It goes along with how the doctors are making up the numbers because they get funding based on number of cases. I hope everyone who believes this says it to any hospital workers they know and see the result. Or of course if/when you get it or anything else of severity, please tell that doctor how they're dirty lying cheats trying to rip everyone off so just go home and not get treatment. Stuff like this is so frustrating to the workers. These are real people, not some nebulous 'they' in some grand conspiracy.
  17. Kind of glad LA won, they and Kershaw deserve it. Now I can comfortably lump them in the big market camp team to dislike and root against like all the others. Even still, I actually don't really dislike anything about their team/players now that Machado isn't there. The Cash bashing to me is a bit disingenuous in that it ignores how that strategy is what got them there. If I remember correctly he got ripped for it game 5 or 6 vs Houston too and came back and did the same thing in game 7 and it worked just fine. It's outside the traditional way so if it doesn't work it gets ripped, but when it does work it just flies by and no one mentions. That said, I generally agree this one was a quick hook and they should've given him one or two more batters since he'd been doing so well and that reliever Anderson had been struggling. Plus when you're an ace type level guy like Snell (or say Woodruff in our case) you should probably give more flex in the strategy. When it's say Wade Miley or Chase Anderson it's a bit different, pull the plug quickly. The bigger thing to me was in Game 1 when he left Glasnow out there for so long. I had it on and said it at the time that I couldn't believe it was happening since it went against this strategy so hard. Plus, they'd just had days off so everyone was fresh in the pen and WS was allowing off days instead of 7 straight days for the pen. I couldn't believe it.
  18. I'd guess O and D just run themselves and they'd call Rudolph HC for the times it's needed, basically media aspects.
  19. This is starting to make more sense to me as none of these 5 activities have seen an increase where I'm at in Washington State and COVID numbers have remained fairly steady. Schools never reopened here and bars are table seating only. I haven't really seen any change in behavior since we went to 'Phase 2' of reopening in June, which is where we still are at. We've had a couple weeks with bad weather so I don't think that's it either. I don't really understand the 'COVID restrictions kill businesses' thing as almost all businesses are allowed to be open under these restrictions. I think that's the hybrid non full shutdown idea that some of us have mentioned. Unfortunately things have gotten so extreme those type of restrictions to try and find a middle ground are met with big resistance and lawsuits too.
  20. Totally agree. I don't fault anyone fo trying to make schools work. Especially for actual K-12 type. Colleges, well I can see a discussion there for sure as so much could be online. Sidenote, for me wedding season has always been more summer than fall. I guess my circle is much more into college football than most haha. But yea this year, yea vibe I've seen is things got looser later in the summer/fall so probably is more now due to the early fears. I started to put something like that in original post but deleted. But there was still some going on all summer, I was surprised when I saw them. And of course bars have been since May
  21. Yup, it's all tied together. Go to the wedding/bar, go home, give it to people there, kid takes it to school and so on. And the reverse, kid brings it home from school, then someone takes to a wedding/bar. Impossible to know anything these days. Seems logical to think that without these things the spread would be lowered, not sure what such a thing would be called. For correlations sake though. Weddings/bars had been going on all summer, schools had not.
  22. Yup all true. Schools of course are daily things for thousands and thousands of people as opposed to one day for weddings or Packer games. They're just a much smaller scale and also have to think of how the people got it who took it to the weddings. It's almost impossible to know anything these days as it's so widespread. But yes I've heard plenty of wedding stories too. Side note on Packer games, my local towny bar can't get people in there for the games, supposedly due to BLM. That's what they say anyway or they say that's what people are telling them. Could be their bias speaking or it could just be virus fear too, who knows. That's not meant to imply to be a trend or anything of that nature, it's just one place.
  23. If you're looking for correlations schools/colleges are the most glaringly obvious one on the timing of this. Of course, correlation doesn't prove causation. But that would be one heck of a coincidence and it's not shocking that a stark increase of gatherings of humans together led to an increase in a disease spread human to human.
  24. Unfortunately, Big Ten rules state that 6 (5%, technically) players with positive tests on a roster = mandatory game cancellation. Ah, but for how long? yes that cancels this week for sure. But do those positives 'count' for 21 days or what is that window? Hope that makes sense to what I'm asking. They won't be testing positive for 21 days and they won't even be with the team for that time. It might very well be that strict and then yea it is what it is, they're as good as done. and likely they won't be the only team.
  25. Spitballing, but if no more new positives or at least very few in the next few days that yes those players would be out for 21 days. However, the remaining players could resume and play the games after quarantine now. This cancellation is more about that all these positives just happened so you have to track if there's more before exposing to each other in practice, and another team in a game. Not so much about not having those 6-10 players themselves. But yea, if this keeps growing to say Titans/Cardinals type levels it could ruin the season
