  1. I think I agree with this. On the other hand, there will be a new coach, its NY, and New England's reign of terror is ending leaving a winnable division. Buffalo looks promising tho
  2. The 'vibe' seems to be this was it. I'll throw it out that my guess is if there is DH he comes back, if not he calls it a day. I'd also guess they find an in between number on the contract if so, not the full opt in number. i also don't think he'll play anywhere else
  3. If Braun doesn't have to leave that game they win easily. Two ABs vs lefties with runners on, easy 4 more runs there
  4. I've had the 2 bye weeks idea for a few years and I've really never seen it mentioned in the conversation. We've all heard the NFL's push for 18 games, I thought a simple thing to offer in return on that would've been to add another bye week. And even if it doesn't lead to the 18 games it would still be a positive thing fro player safety while have the added benefit of another week of primetime games. Seems like a win win to me.
  5. Orf completed the last out too, ball was hit hard too but right at him so not terribly difficult. I see they have times up for tomorrow's games. I suppose you have to lock in with TV but seems best way to do would've been to wait and see which series end today and then adjust. For example, if Yankees win tonight do the Brewers/LAD really have to wait until 9:15 when no game is on in front of them. I know it's in LA so they're not going to start at 7 CST for their fans, but moving up an hour could work. I'm sure other examples could apply too.
  6. Plus there is a DH so less need for a bench for the pinch hitting, double switching, etc. So I'd agree with the logic of another P making sense. compare it to the 2018 division series roster. i'm in agreement--given who's healthy and rested--with just 12 pitchers for a three game series. I wouldn't say it's crazy or a huge deal or anything. But considering 3 extra roster spots, DH, 3 days in a row instead of 2, the current state of pur pitching knowing if they play 3 games 2 will be bullpen games (including game 1), I think I'd have taken the extra P just in case.

  8. Wagner for Beluga seems a good or at least even swap and hopefully will be healthier. At the time I understood the Watt draft. You got a good DB prospect and very comparable guy to Watt in Biegel rather than just Watt. Clearly that was wrong, should've trusted the Watt name.
  9. Ouch, that's a huge loss. The one big advantage or strength we had was that back end. Now not so much.
  10. I had the games on in the background yesterday and I remember someone being mentioned who had something like 10-13 HRs but only 2 doubles on the year. Something weird like that, seemed relevant to this talk. If I'm remembering correctly that is, maybe someone else caught it too. ETA: Think I found it, Buxton had 13 HRs, 3 doubles.
  11. Good point on MN. Unfortunately the Bears have scraped their way to 3-0. GB doesn't play until end of Nov so we'll see how they do. I'm taking Lawrence #1 no matter who I am, in regards to likely contenders for the pick. I suppose other than maybe Cin who just took a #1 overall last year. The rest of the teams will have had 2 years at least with whoever their young QB is and the team was still worst in the league. Lawrence will likely be considered the best/safest QB prospect since Luck, if not Manning. If I'm the Jets/Giants I take him and trade the other young guy for a later pick and call it a day. I'm actually one who doesn't think Darnold or the Giants QB suck too, I think they have a chance. But you can't pass on Lawrence.
  12. Makes sense. but if he has 3 shutout with no trouble you'd just yank right away? why not see if you can get 4 but have a real quick hook if he has a walk or two hits runners on quickly. In my posts i did kind of rule out Freddy due to pitching a bunch the other, and that might have been premature, he's an ok option and might be able to get 2 which would help on your point of pulling Suter quicker.
  13. I hope for 4-5 if he's doing well. We just don't have tons of good options until Williams/Hader so if he's cruising let him go. If does poorly yea you only get 2 but you're probably as good as done at that point anyway so can save the better relievers for game 2.
  14. IDK, color me skeptical that the current Lauer is all of a sudden the same as he was a year or two back just because of the jersey on the other team. Seems like a stretch or grasping at straws to me. Then factor in a 2-3 guys are going to be new players on the dodgers. Just not sure how any of us could trust him right now. Could probably make just a strong argument he shouldn't be on the series roster (I haven't seen it yet, apologies if it's out and I haven't) If they roll these dice though hopefully he steals a few good innings.
  15. Am I missing something on Lauer as I've seen his name a fair amount on here? After being bad and sent down, since being brought back he's only pitched once and also did poorly in that game. Yet we're considering him for this game.
  16. I know it seems odd but I think you have to start with Suter and go from there. If you have a close lead in the 7th you have to use Williams/Hader to cover those 3 innings and get the W in the bag, worry about game 2 when you get there. The 2-3 innings in between is where it gets tricky if they're up or close in the game. He doesn't have a ton of good options there so can't blame him for whatever route they go based on matchups/situation.
  17. Yup agree for the most part. The problem or difference from the plan you mentioned is our numbers never got down to a lower re-starting point (well I guess that's debatable on what is low enough) similar to what Europe got down to. But last I read on Europe in the last week-ish they've been ticking back up recently since opening up much more, of course it's easier to manage those surges starting from a lower point, which we never got to. On what gets hammered points, IDK I've thought that's been clear but everyone sees/reads different stuff so who knows. Personally what I've felt has been missed by the general pop is how it can take days to show symptoms so those days before you're aware you could be spreading to whoever else, including vulnerable folks. And the masks point I'd disagree too.
  18. I'd agree with that sentiment being a big part too. I think I mentioned something similar in a recent post on people dipping their toes in a bit more and living more, and its tough to blame them/us after this long.
  19. Link to support your claim? Plenty of science to support the opposite: https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/06/417906/still-confused-about-masks-heres-science-behind-how-face-masks-prevent https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-mask/art-20485449 https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-face-masks-what-you-need-to-know Here are a couple pre-COVID studies that look at mask use and disease transmission. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0843-2 https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577 Interesting, thanks. If I read this correctly on the cloth/medical it could mean many of the more 'stylish' or comfortable ones that have become common aren't as effective as we'd think. So some study or better guidance there could be needed and that could be a factor in the spread still hovering around. I remember something a couple months ago saying the kind of sleek/mesh type ones aren't good. I also read this to mean medical as not specifically the N95 but the more common masks, since they mention a comp between the two later. Good post socal.
  20. It's likely because people aren't listening to it and there is no way to enforce it. And I don't think security/police etc should go around getting in fights/confrontations about it. If I leave Madison and go to any rural areas like where I'm from there is literally 0 people wearing masks anywhere (granted my sample size is low). My biggest activity in all this has been golfing. In those areas if you pop in to grab drinks or bathroom the bars are bellied up and crowded with 0 people wearing masks. I have friends who bartend in those areas, 0 people wear masks and if you did you'd likely get made fun of for it. In the one I have gone in a couple times you get ripped on for even suggesting rona is real and to be concerned about as that makes you a lib. One friend runs a fairly large bar in a smaller city in the valley and he said everyone of the bartenders has had it. Plus of course people are just doing more and getting out an about more, everyone is dipping their toes in the water to some degree and expanding their circles. Can't blame people for it really, can't do nothing forever. Other factor on the number is of course bringing colleges back and obviously the kids being lax on it. This is one reason I'm not super concerned on the WI increase right now though. But when you see the highest hospitalizations we've had it does open eyes. I don't think it's really fair to blame the governor by not listening to the mandate and then saying 'see the mandate doesn't work'. This has worked throughout the world. I do grant that since masks mandate in Madison people are more prone to get close in the grocery store than previous, I've certainly had a few "cmon man" moments.
  21. Exactly right. In baseball anything happens in a 3 game series. Garbage teams often beat the best teams in the regular season. Just think if Burnes didn't get hurt though and two of their three starts were covered by really good starters. Steeper hill to climb now but it's certainly possible.
  22. They seem way more legit this year than last. I was still a bit skeptical going into last night. But Rodgers looks as sharp/accurate as ever and the offense overall, scheme etc, looks totally different in a good way than last year. They should have a shot as long as he doesn't get hurt, but of course the NFC is not going to be easy to win with Sea, SF and some others.
  23. Thing is with how mass communication is now so easy you can see what's happening all over the world instantly. This should be a good thing. Italy happened, NYC happened. Instead it's ended up as a way to actually deter people and pit them against each other and to undermine. It's actually having a negative affect.
  24. I know it can't be true do to speed, but man eye test Braun of the last few years seems to be better in LF than the Yelich of this year. I had nothing negative to say on Yelich's D before this year though, other than the obvious weak arm. Who knows, maybe that knee is gonna take some more time.
  25. Yes, that is exactly how it works and WI is about as player/kid friendly on that as possible.
